Turnabout Thanks
Seth: Well here’s my first attempt at a story.
Disclaimer: I do not own any aspect of Phoenix Wright, none of the games, characters, ideas, etc. It is owned by Capcom. I am not making any money off these stories.
Pairing: Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth, Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright (probably).
Rating: NC–17 due to graphic sex between two men.
Advice: It’s simple: don’t like don’t read!
Notice: Since this is my first story my assessment of the character’s personalities may be a little off. I recognize that many people do not like OOC–ness. Instead of flaming please let me know how I can improve my writing...on second thought I don’t even care if you flame I just want feedback badly, just if you feel you must flame try to remember that this is my first fic. I can already predict issues with Phoenix’s personality and possibly Edgeworth but not to as large an extent. I will also try to stay accurate to the events within the game. If you notice something incorrect please let me know. There will be a few details that I will change for the sake of the story such as Gumshoe not being able to pay for dinner.
Small Note: In retrospect this may not be my best work. I have written most of this late at night or early in the morning.
WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR CASE 4 AND SOME INFORMATION ONLY ATTAINABLE BY PLAYING THROUGH CASE 5 OF THE FIRST GAME. IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN UP TO IT AND DON’T WANT IT SPOILED DON’T READ!!!!!!! READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETELY FINISHED THE CASE!!!!
On a side note I might also spoiler small aspects of the character’s personality known only to those who have completed more than just the first game.

District Court
Defendant Lobby No. 2
“I cannot believe what just happened today,” Phoenix stated still in shock of the events that transpired that day. He wiped a bit of cool sweat off his forehead.
“I know who would have guessed that von Karma was responsible for all the grief poor Edgeworth has had to endure,” Maya exclaimed. “I’m so sorry for you Edgeworth, I don’t know if I could have endured all that.” Maya went to give Edgeworth a hug.
“Its nothing,” Edgeworth said simply keeping Maya at arms’ length. “Excuse me, I need a moment alone.” Edgeworth moves hastily towards the door leaving Phoenix, Maya, Gumshoe, Larry and even Lotta wondering what could be bothering him.
“Man I’ve never seen Edgey so upset, I thought he would be thrilled to be let off the hook for not one but two murders,” Larry yelled. “I know I was when I was found not guilty.”
“Well you need to remember that the DL–6 incident has plagued Edgeworth for fifteen years,” Phoenix said. “I can’t say I’m surprised that he may not be overjoyed. His entire reality of the incident has be rend asunder after it was revealed that von Karma was the real perpetrator of his father’s murder and not Edgeworth himself.”
“Yeah pal and don’t forget that Mr. Von Karma was his mentor for many of those years.” Detective Gumshoe said with a large frown on his face. “He was like a father to Mr. Edgeworth and now he has to deal with the fact that the person he revered is in fact a no good murderer. I mean he knew that von Karma would do anything for a guilty verdict but I doubt he could ever have imagined that he was a killer.”
“Yeah I guess that is true,” Larry said. “I never knew that Edgey had such a screwed up life.”
Meanwhile outside the courthouse Edgeworth was sitting on the steps, his head in his hands just thinking about what occurred in court today, reliving all the events that transpired in his life starting with DL–6. When I was seven I went to see my father defend a man in a case. He lost but got a penalty put on von Karma’s record. We were leaving the courthouse when a...a...an earthquake hit. He had to wince at the memory of the earthquake. We were trapped in an elevator with the then court bailiff Yanni Yogi. They began fighting and I was desperate to stop it. I picked up the first object I found, apparently a pistol. It discharged and I heard a heart wrenching scream. That’s all I remember until I woke up in the hospital. I could have sworn I had killed my father. Edgeworth cringed at this nightmare that had tormented him every night for the last fifteen years. I was so sure that is what happened back then but in a matter of hours Wright proved that not only did the pistol I threw discharged and shot a hole in the elevator door, missing my father but it pierced the shoulder of Manfred von Karma and he then killed my father. My mentor was the one who killed my father and now fifteen years later convinced the suspected murderer Yanni Yogi to kill his own defense attorney and to frame me for his murder of said attorney.
“You know you did nothing wrong Edgeworth,” Phoenix stated very seriously sitting down next to Edgeworth. “I hope you still don’t have any lingering doubts.”
“No just reflecting, but it’s not like you to be able to detect what I am thinking,” Edgeworth said grabbing his arm and looking away from Phoenix. “But I do admit that one would have to be a complete idiot to not comprehend what is going on in my mind, but I’m surprised to see you, when I said I wanted some time alone I would have thought that Gumshoe would not have let anyone out of the building let alone you,” Edgeworth grinning just a bit as if he was amused by the idea.
“How do you know that’s what happened?” Phoenix asked with a look of utter disbelief on his face. “Now who’s the one who can read minds? I had to get Maya and Larry’s help to distract Gumshoe. I wanted to make sure you are okay, I know a lot of serious things have occurred today and I hope that you can get over it soon.” Phoenix put his hand on Edgeworth’s shoulder.
“Woooooooooooah pal what’s the big idea sneaking off?” Gumshoe yelled emerging from courthouse. Larry and Maya were grabbing his green overcoat trying to keep him back. “You know Mr. Edgeworth needs his space and you talking to him can’t be helpful.”
“Don’t concern yourself with it Detective I will be fine,” Edgeworth said almost annoyed. “I believe you have a dinner to treat us to.”
“Oh yeah...about that...I’m really sorry Mr. Edgeworth but I forgot that my pay is getting docked again so I’m not going to be able to afford to pay...,” Gumshoe started to explain with a sheepish grin but was obviously deflated.
“ I will say it once again don’t concern yourself with it, God knows why I am about to do this but I’ll treat you all to dinner,” Edgeworth offered. “I guess I owe you something Phoenix and I have never been the one to squelch on my debts.”
“That’s probably a better idea than Gumshoe buying dinner anyway,” Phoenix stated rubbing the back of his head. “We all know how much Maya can eat.”
“HEY!!! I don’t eat that much,” Maya protested looking almost hurt. “Well okay I can eat Nick under the table.”
“Well I hope you are not entertaining any ideas of eating at some dingy restaurant.” Edgeworth told the group. “Since I’m paying for the meal we dine at the restaurant of my choice. That said you can lose any delusions of eating pizza, Chinese or greasy fast food.” Everyone immediately frowned and began picturing what type of eating establishment Edgeworth would bring them to.
“Thanks Mr. Edgeworth,” Gumshoe said. “This will be there first time in probably years I have eaten something other than fast food or my usual dinner instant noodles.”
“Well on that note I’m glad I gotta get going now. Fancy dinners are not my thing,” Lotta said apparently very happy that she would not have to dine with the rest of the group. Lotta entered her van and drove away at breakneck speed.
“Wow she ran like a bat out of hell,” Phoenix said his jaw on the floor. “So how are we getting there?”
“Well pal we can take my squad car,” Gumshoe offered. “But you, Maya and Harry will have to ride in the back. There is no way I would make Mr. Edgeworth ride in the back.”
“That idea is less than acceptable; we can take my car,” Edgeworth said. “I will drive you back here later detective to pick up your squad car.”
“Great! I’m in no mood to ride in the back of a police cruiser again,” Maya exclaimed.
“Yeah that is always a plus but why do I get the feeling that we will be crammed inside a trunk,”
“Keep your nonsense to yourself Wright,” Edgeworth stated obviously not amused at Phoenix’s attempt at humor. “I can assure you that you have never ridden in such luxury before. Or would you prefer to walk?”
“Geez Edgey just calm down,” Larry said with a concerned look on his face as if he knew that this situation could quickly turn into an argument only suitable for one of their courtroom battles. “You know Nick did not mean anything hurtful, right Nicky?” Larry said while ribbing Phoenix with his elbow.
“Ow... yeah sorry Edgeworth,” Phoenix started apologetically. “I shouldn’t have...”
“Stop right there Wright,” Edgeworth said quite forcefully. “It’s not your fault, I simply overreacted. I must still be on edge from being in the defendant’s seat for two separate murder cases.” Edgeworth looked away wincing from the memories the trail brought up.
“Alright so where did you park your car Edgey,” Larry asked with a big grin on his face clearly pleased to have helped diffuse the potential bomb that threatened to tear the group apart.
“It’s about two blocks away, lets get going,” Edgeworth told the group. They all began walking . Edgeworth led the group while Gumshoe follow closely. Larry, Maya and Phoenix followed a good ten feet behind Gumshoe almost as if they were afraid to get too close to either him or Edgeworth. After waiting for one light to change they continued to walk in total silence. After walking the rest of the block Edgeworth stopped and dug into his pants’ pocket for his keys. He pressed the button on the key chain which caused the lights of a dark red car to flash.
“Wow nice ride Edgey,” Larry said practically drooling over Edgeworth’s red SUV. “I see that prosecuting attorneys get paid well. Hey Nick maybe you should switch jobs.” Edgeworth’s car was big and looked very nice but was not over the top.
“Before you get in let me tell you this, I do not care where you sit but do not dirty the inside,” Edgeworth said almost threateningly.
“Shotgun!,” Maya stated enthusiastically.
“Hey pal if you think that I’m not gonna sit in the passenger seat then...,” Gumshoe started.
“Detective it’s quite alright,” Edgeworth cut Gumshoe off calmly. “There is no need to worry about me.”
“Sorry boss,” Gumshoe said looking quite forlorn.
“Think nothing of it Detective,” Edgeworth said. They all entered the van. Edgeworth in the driver seat, Maya in the passenger seat, Phoenix and Gumshoe in the middle row and Larry lied down in the back row.
“It will take us about 30 minutes to get to the restaurant,” Edgeworth stated looking at the passengers through the rear–view mirror. “Do not make me regret driving you.” After about ten minutes of driving in silence Maya, who was fidgeting quite a lot, could not handle the silence and spoke up.
“So Edgeworth I just wanted to thank you for posting my bail. I could not believe it when Gumshoe told me that you had done something so nice,” Maya stated while averting her gaze away from Edgeworth. “It was not necessary.”
“As I have stated previously I do not like to accumulate debts,” Edgeworth said calmly paying more attention to the road than the conversation despite this a smirk could be seen on Edgeworth’s face. “You did save the case for me the first day...and that goes for you too Larry for the second day, I only wished that you had spoken up before the judge pronounced me guilty.” The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful, no one said a word. They were fortunate enough to find a parking spot in front of the restaurant. They all got out of Edgeworth’s car. Maya seemed almost scared when she laid her eyes on the building.
“I think this restaurant is a little too high class for me,” Maya said with a frown on her face. Her face quickly picked up when she found a burger joint just across the street. “I guess I can just eat there.”
“Maya I almost offended that you think I would have chosen a restaurant that could not cater to your appetite,” Edgeworth said neutrally. “One of the reasons I chose this restaurant is because they make hamburgers, generally I do not partake in them but on the occasions I have eaten them I have found them to be quite good.”
“I really didn’t think you would think so far in advance enough to know where to go based on our tastes,” Maya said happily.
“Just because I said we would dine in a fancy restaurant did not mean I would not choose a place that could not please your palates,” Edgeworth stated seemingly amused. “I’m sure you thought I would bring you to a place that only serves foods like escargot and frog legs.”
“Well lets stop standing around and go in,” Maya stated enthusiastically. They entered the restaurant and were greeted by the maitre d’.
“Ah Monsieur Edgeworth it is great to see you again,” the maitre d’ said with a smile on his face. “Your usual table for one sir?”
“Not today I have brought a few...acquaintances, table for five please,” Edgeworth stated politely.
“Very good sir...right this way if you would,” the maitre d’ said leading the group towards the back of the restaurant to a large circular table surrounded by a semicircular booth. “I will send your waiter over in a few minutes.” They all took their places at a plate. After a few minutes of looking over the menu their waiter approached the table carrying a bottle containing a dark red beverage.
“Monsieur Edgeworth would you care for your usual wine?” the waiter asked politely.
“Yes thank you. You can leave the bottle, ” Edgeworth said filling his glass with red wine. “Anyone else?”
“I’m too young to drink,” Maya stated.
“I don’t drink wine, Larry said.
“No thank you Mr. Edgeworth, I don’t touch the stuff,” Gumshoe said. “And I didn’t
know you drank.”
“Don’t read to much into it; I don’t drink very often but a glass of wine here and there does no harm,” Edgeworth explained. “I drank a glass or so just about everyday during the 10 or so years I spent in Germany.”
Germany...I hope he doesn’t mean what I think he means Phoenix thought to himself. “You don’t mean...,” Phoenix started.
“Ugh..God you are clueless Wright. Yes during the years I spent being taught by him,” Edgeworth said with some venom in his voice. “Of course I started drinking wine when I lived with von Karma.”
“Sorry I didn’t mean to open any old wounds. I guess I’ll have a glass too,” Phoenix said drawing a surprised look from Maya, Larry and even Edgeworth, apparently they did not think of Phoenix as the type to drink any alcohol ever. Gumshoe did not seem to think anything strange though. Maya quickly pulled Phoenix away from the table.
“What are you doing!?! You don’t drink,” Maya said clearly confused still shocked by Phoenix’s previous statement.
“Look I’m well aware of that but Edgeworth needs to heal and maybe if he drinks with someone other than von Karma that might help,” Phoenix rationalized.
“Are you sure about that,” Maya pried deeper into the issue. “Or is it that you just want to drink for once.”
“Maya even though you have never seen me drink I have in the past,” Phoenix started to explain. “As in the present Larry has never been the most positive influence in my life.”
“Fine I just hope you know what you are doing,” Maya said with a confused look on her face. They walked back to the table and sat down.
“I must admit I only offered to be polite but I did not really expect anyone to accept,”
Before anyone could comment the waiter returned ready to take their orders.
“So is everyone ready to order,” the waiter asked politely.
“I suppose so,” Edgeworth said speaking for the group. “I guess I am to assume that you guys will be having their sirloin burger.” Everyone nodded quickly. “Well I was planning on enjoying something else I suppose I will get the same.”
“Excellent choice, how would you like it cooked?” the waiter inquired.
“I will take mine medium–well,” Edgeworth said.
“Medium please,” Maya stated.
“Well done, pal,” Gumshoe said.
“Medium–rare for me,” Larry said.
“Um...I guess I’ll have mine medium–well,” Phoenix stated.
“Very good your food should be ready in a few minutes,” the waiter said before leaving
with a bow.
“Great so what should we do to kill time? Phoenix asked after a few seconds of silence. “I’d normally recommend that we talk about our day as small talk but we’ve all had the same, horrible day and to be frank I don’t think any of us want to relive it.”
“Quite accurate Wright, I know I do not want to talk about today’s trial,” Edgeworth said taking a sip from his wine glass. Once he put it down he looked at Phoenix’s glass. “Well Wright are you going to touch your wine?”
“Huh?...Oh yea,” Phoenix said. He took one sip and winced ever so slightly trying not to cough. “Not too bad.”
“What are you talking about Wright,?” Edgeworth asked. “ You acted like I poured you some ridiculously strong liquor.”
“Well to be honest I can’t recall the last time I drank wine,” Phoenix said. “It is much more bitter than I remember.”
“That begs the question: why did you accept the drink?” Edgeworth asked.
“Hello everyone your food is ready,” the waiter said once he approached the table with a very large tray with five plates on it. The waiter present each person with their burger. Edgeworth looked quite pissed. Great now I am going to have to wait until diner is over to readdress this issue. Oh well nothing I can do about it now, I might as well try to enjoy my food. Edgeworth thought trying to rationalize the situation. He grabbed his napkin and placed in inside the collar of his shirt making sure to cover his cravat. Everyone began eating their burgers.
“Oh my God!...This is the best burger I have ever eaten,” Maya declared. “This is going to spoil me for all other burgers.
“I have to admit it is great,” Phoenix said with a smile on his face but he was crying on the inside. But if Maya likes them so much she’s gonna keep on bugging me about them. She gonna break the bank on these burgers I just know it.
“This beats instant noodles by a long shot,” Gumshoe said.
“Yeah you keep on mentioning that,” Larry observed. “What is the problem can a homicide detective only afford to eat instant noodles?”
“Harry let me put it to you like this: if I had known how bad my pay would have been I probably be the Blue Badger right about now,” Gumshoe said with a long frown on his face. “My pay gets cut after just about every case I handle.”
“Well Detective before I begin I want to soften the blow of what I am about to say,” Edgeworth said with a pained look on his face as if looking for the best words to use. “While you are very devoted to your job; however you frequently cause problems either for the police department or the prosecutors’ office. The pay cuts you incur are due to your own incompetence.”
“Wow that sucks,” Larry said empathetically.
“Well what’s done is done,” Gumshoe said with a smile once again appearing on his face. “And to be honest I really like instant noodles anyway.”
“It is hard to comprehend why you are so devoted to your work,” Edgeworth said after a eating a bit of his burger and dabbing the corners of his mouth with his napkin. “You must truly enjoy what you do.”
“Well to be honest I do enjoy working on cases with you sir,” Gumshoe admitted. “There’s never a dull moment. You can’t really put a price on that sir.”
“That is quite correct; these cases hardly ever are as they appear,” Edgeworth said but inside he was mulling over what Gumshoe had said. The only reason he hangs around the police office is to work alongside me? That is either highly complementary toward me or he is just plain foolish. I should think this over at a later date though–perhaps during his next pay review.
“Something wrong sir?” Gumshoe asked politely. “You seem to be lost in your thoughts.”
“Huh? Oh nothing is wrong Detective. I was just think about what you said about the cases we have handled in the recent past,” Edgeworth said rather quickly, picking up his wine glass and taking an unusually big sip. “It also reminded me of today’s case.”
“Sorry sir I did not mean to make you think about that,” Gumshoe said with concern. “I know it must be hard for you to talk about it.”
“Surprisingly enough it is becoming less and less traumatic,” Edgeworth said with a small grin after which he returned to his burger. “I guess talking about it is good therapy.”
“What’s up Nick you’ve been awfully quiet,” Maya said concerned. “What’s going on inside there?” she asked poking his head.
“Nothing I’ve just been eating and listening,” Phoenix answered. “I’m surprised I have eaten more than everyone else except you Maya. I’m usually a slow eater.
“That’s interesting Nicky,” Larry said. “You usually can’t get away from other people’s conversation. You usually have to intervene at least once.”
“Oh..well I guess I haven’t felt the need to say anything yet,” Phoenix said taking another bite out of his burger and finishing off his first glass of wine.
“Hmm...Wright you sure it’s not the wine?” Edgeworth speculated. “If you are not used to drinking much then even this wine can get you pretty drunk.”
“I knew something was wrong,” Maya said slamming her fist into her palm as she had her epiphany. “You’re drunk!”
“I am not,” Phoenix protested rather weakly.
“That reminds me I believe I asked you a question Wright,” Edgeworth stated. “One I never got an answer to.”
“What? Oh yea pal he wanted to know why you accepted the wine,” Gumshoe reminded the group surprising Edgeworth immensely
“I’ve got my reasons,” Phoenix said. “Which I do not feel ready to divulge.”
“Whatever Wright,” Edgeworth said clearly displeased. “I’m sure I will find out the answer in the very near future.” The remainder of the meal was spent in silence. Once they were all done the waiter returned to take away the plates and to present Edgeworth with the bill.
“So what’s the damage Edgey?” Larry inquired.
“Normally I do not reveal that amount but it is $200,” Edgeworth stated.
“What!?!...two hundred American dollars?” Gumshoe asked. “How is that even possible?”
“It’s quite simple: five burgers cost $25 a piece which is $125, the wine and tax brings it
close to $150 and I always tip extremely well,” Edgeworth explained. “It’s not that hard to understand; we are at one of the best restaurants in the city.”
“Man Edgey that still seems a little extreme,” Larry said. “You sure you wanna pay for all of us? I’m sure Nick could pay for himself and Maya at the very least.”
“What!?! Why don’t you offer to pay your own part then Larry?” Phoenix retorted.
“Stop It!!!,” Edgeworth almost yelled. “When I said I would treat everyone to dinner I knew that I would pay about this much. I have not problem with paying this bill by myself.” Edgeworth reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet and took out two $100 bills.
“Here you go sir,” Edgeworth said giving the waiter the two bills.
“Thank you sir, please let me know if you if you need anything else,” the waiter said happily.
“No further help should be needed thank you,” Edgeworth responded.
“Very good sir, I shall take my leave,” the waiter said disappearing into the back of the restaurant.
“Lets get going,’ Edgeworth said finishing off his second glass of wine. “Oh Wright I see you still have some wine left, are you going to finish it?”
“What? Sure,” Phoenix said knocking his drink back quickly. He almost brought it right back up though.
“You are clueless Wright,” Edgeworth explained. “This wine is to be savored not thrown down like cheap liquor.” Phoenix could only smile sheepishly in response.
“Great. Whatever I’m leaving so if you want a ride lets go,” Edgeworth said turning and walking towards the door.
“C’mon Edgey no need to be nasty,” Larry said. “We’re coming.”
“Yes sir right behind you,” Gumshoe said.
“We’ll be right out I want to make sure Nick can still walk,” Maya said.
“I’ll be fine. I’m not that messed up,” Phoenix said.
“Really that has yet to be seen. You three go on ahead, Detective a word please,” Edgeworth commanded.
“Sure sir no problem, you guys wait at the car,” Gumshoe ordered. With a few murmurs from Larry and a puzzled look from Maya they exited the restaurant. Edgeworth and Gumshoe stopped at the door. “What’s the matter sir?”
“Nothing too big just a little...task I guess,” Edgeworth said. “I hope you have no objections.”
“None whatsoever sir,” Gumshoe said.
“Good I want you to take Maya and Larry to their respective homes,” Edgeworth said. “And just in case Maya speaks about her hunger for snacks here’s some money for ice cream or something of the sort. Edgeworth said handing Gumshoe a bill from his pocket.
“Sure no problem sir,” Gumshoe said taking the bill from Edgeworth. Once he glanced at the bill he immediately tried to give it back to Edgeworth. “Wooooah. Sir I think you gave me the wrong bill there is no way I’d need $100 just for ice cream.”
“Consider the rest a tip for your cooperation and your...discretion,” Edgeworth said.
“Discretion on what matter, sir?” Gumshoe inquired utterly clueless.
“I want to spend some time alone with Wright,” Edgeworth began to explain. “I want to pick his brain about the events that have recently transpired.”
“No problem sir. Of course my lips are sealed,” Gumshoe said with a grin.
“Good now that that is done with lets get going,” Edgeworth said opening the door waiting for Gumshoe to follow. They met up with the others who were waiting at Edgeworth’s van.
“So Edgey what’s up?,” Larry asked.
“Nothing I was just asking Gumshoe about the state of the police department after my trial,” Edgeworth lied. “Lets go I’ve got to return to the courthouse before anything else.” They all entered the van. Nothing happened while they were on the road and no meaningful conversation was made. After half an hour they returned to the courthouse and more specifically Gumshoe’s squad car.
“Thanks Mr. Edgeworth,” Gumshoe said. “Maya, Harry you two are coming with me.”
“What!?!,” Maya yelled. “Why? I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“No it’s nothing like that pal,” Gumshoe started. “Edgeworth asked me to drive you two home.”
“Why can’t he do it then?,” Maya asked.
“Look I do ask I do what I’m told to,” Gumshoe said. “But I can tell you this: if you come with me you get ice cream.”
“Ice cream! Really?,” Maya said.
“Yeah pal, Edgeworth’s treat,” Gumshoe said. Maya’s Stomach growled.
“Thank you Edgeworth,” Maya said with a huge grin on her face. “How did you know I wanted dessert?”
“Just call it a hunch,” Edgeworth said. It’s not that hard to deduce; she talks about her “extra” stomachs for desserts all the time.
“But wait what about Nick?” Maya asked. “How is he getting home?”
“Don’t worry Maya I will see to him,” Edgeworth said. “There are a few things I wish to discuss with him.”
“Alright as long as Nick is with someone competent,” Maya said. “I don’t want him having to find his way home in his current state.”
“I can assure you absolutely nothing bad will happen to him on my watch,” Edgeworth promised a small smirk adoring his face. “I actually think this will be a good night for both of us. Talking about what has transpired really seems to make me feel better and Wright is probably the best person to talk about this with.”
“Ok, lets go Gumshoe,” Maya said with a large grin on her face. “I want my ice cream. I’ll see you tomorrow Nick.”
“Alright pal,” Gumshoe said. “I’ll see you later Mr. Edgeworth.”
“Good night Detective,” Edgeworth responded. He pulled away as Larry and Maya were getting into Gumshoe’s squad car. “So Wright I have been wondering this for quite some time now: Why were you so sure I was innocent not only for the murder of Hammond but also the DL–6 incident?”
“Well its no secret I trust my clients Edgeworth,” Phoenix started. “But I also know you albeit not too well but I do know you enough to know that you have a strict moral code. Murder just does not suit you even accidental murder is a little hard to swallow.”
“You are aware that you did prove that the gun I threw did accidentally discharge and did in fact hit someone,” Edgeworth said. “It is not a large stretch of the imagination to believe that I could accidentally kill someone like that.”
“Once again I just didn’t think you could have killed someone,” Phoenix responded. “We’re just lucky that I picked up on that small inconsistency that helped me blow the case open.”
“Yes well lucky does seem to be the word to describe you,” Edgeworth stated. “I almost had a heart attack when you chose to bring the parrot into the courtroom as a witness.”
“Yeah well fortunately I knew there had to be some connection,” Phoenix said with a smile as if he was recalled a truly fond memory. “The bird did mention DL–6 a few times.”
“All you do in court is grasp at straws like their your only lifeline,” Edgeworth reasoned. “How you ended up not only tying von Karma to the DL–6 incident but got him convicted of the murder of my father can only be described by a word I hate: a miracle.”
“Yeah well I guess it made sense” Phoenix offered. “I mean von Karma must have been in the courthouse during the incident.”
“What are you talking about Wright even though it’s the truth it makes no sense at all,” Edgeworth countered.
“Hehe yeah I guess,” Phoenix said eyeing the LED clock display in Edgeworth’s car. “Wow it’s already 8, I should probably get back to my apartment soon.”
“Sorry Wright not happening now,” Edgeworth spoke calmly; eyes locked on the road ahead of him. “There are still a few things I wish to talk about.”
“I guess that’s OK, but where are we going?” Phoenix asked looking out the car window trying to get a sense of location. “I don’t recognize this part of the city.”
“Well that doesn’t surprise me; it is hard to imagine you coming to my neighborhood,” Edgeworth explained.
“Wait your neighborhood? You’re inviting me into your home?” Phoenix said shocked.
“I thought that was self–explanatory but yes,” Edgeworth said. “I hope you are prepared to see how the better half live.”
“I guess but I think I would feel better if we would talk in my apartment or at least at my office,” Phoenix answered.
“Well I would feel better if we talked in my home,” Edgeworth countered. “And as much as I hate to admit it I am not in a good place mentally or emotionally. Not to mention the fact that I am the one driving.”
“Fair enough,” Phoenix said. “So how far away are we; I’m completely in the dark here.”
“Only a few minutes,” Edgeworth answered flatly. “You should be able to see my house from here.” Phoenix scanned the empty horizon for a building and sure enough he located a large red brick house.
“Is that it?” Phoenix asked pointing to the building he saw.
“Yes it is,” Edgeworth responded. They pulled off the road they were on and turned onto a winding road that leads up to Edgeworth’s home. Edgeworth drove his car up to his garage and threw the car into park right in front of the garage door. “We’re here Wright. Are you going to be able to walk? Last time I checked you were more than slightly inebriated; I can only guess that you haven’t recovered yet. In fact I would expect you to be in worse shape.”
“I think I’m good,” Phoenix assessed. “I shouldn’t have trouble walking a few yards.”
“Ok if you are sure about that then lets go,” Edgeworth said leading the way toward his front door, digging in his pocket for his keys. “I couldn’t care less if you were to fall and hurt yourself–in fact I think I would get a good laugh from it. But I promised your assistant that nothing would happen to you and I am a man of my word.”
“I should have figured as much,” Phoenix said walking behind Edgeworth.
“Oh I almost forgot to ask: you aren’t allergic to dogs are you?” Edgeworth asked.
“No,” Phoenix answered. “But seems a little late to ask at this point.”
“Yes well if you were I could at least make sure my dog stays out of any room we go in,” Edgeworth responded. “But seeing as how you are not allergic no harm, no foul.” He opened the door when he got to it. Phoenix followed right behind him. They were met, in the foyer, by a large dog who ran up to Edgeworth wagging its tail.
“Hello Pess,” Edgeworth said petting his dog’s head then turning his attention to Phoenix. “You don’t have to worry Pess is a very friendly dog. Pess is probably more friendly than I am.”
“Good thing, I’ve had some bad experiences with dogs before,” Phoenix said recalling some somewhat traumatic incidents, but assured by Edgeworth’s statement he outstretched his arm in an attempt to pet Pess. Pess just sat there while Phoenix patted its head. “Guess you were right, that wasn’t too bad.
“Are you serious Wright you are shaking like a five–year–old,” Edgeworth observed.
“Ok so you wanted to talk about something,” Phoenix quickly recalled to which Edgeworth nodded and extended his arm pointing to a his living room furnished with a sofa, a few cabinets and a recliner. Phoenix plopped down in the middle of the couch. Edgeworth left the room and a few seconds later returned with a folding chair that he placed facing Phoenix.
“I wanted to know about why you chose to become a defense attorney,” Edgeworth said sitting down. “Is it true that you only became a defense attorney because of that class trial?”
“Well there’s no doubt in my mind that that is what started me down the road I currently
travel, but I guess what kept me on this path is that I had heard about you–the ‘genius Demon Prosecutor’ as opposed to the child who day after day would say he was going to be just like his father–a defense attorney. I guess I became a lawyer to keep the memory of that boy alive.” Phoenix answered. Edgeworth stayed silent throughout the entire explanation with a look of utter surprise on face. Once he finished Edgeworth let out a big sigh and started to collect his thoughts.
“You must be kidding me,” Edgeworth said coming to the conclusion that Phoenix was playing a prank of the prosecutor. “I can understand the trauma that the class trial may have caused; especially since it was not you but Larry who stole the money. But what reason would you have to keep my dream alive? What is your reasoning?”
“I never really thought about it but I never really got a chance to thank you for your help during the trial,” Phoenix said “I guess carrying the torch you left behind after DL–6 was my only way to thank you.”
“I can see your never really thought twice about why,” Edgeworth stated still trying to wrap his mind around this mystery. “So you felt indebted to me and had no real way to repay that debt. There is still no reason why you couldn’t move on with your life especially when I was not there to collect on you debt.”
“I guess I just hated to see that proud, happy part of you die,” Phoenix said. “I guess becoming a defense attorney was my way of saving the part of you I liked.”
“You liked me?” Edgeworth asked utterly shocked. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had told him that. He became embedded in his thoughts. Did he just say what I think he did? He’s the first person to say that since my father died 15 years ago. I always thought that von Karma held some affection for me but in truth he only raised me to spite my father.
“Uh...hello Edgeworth?” Phoenix asked. “You okay?”
“What?” Edgeworth asked being snapped away from his inner thoughts. He realized he must be acting rather foolish so he averted his gaze from the spiky–haired lawyer across from him and with a smile on his face responded. “Yes Wright I am fine.” Edgeworth got up and opened a nearby cabinet.
“You want anything to drink?” Edgeworth asked standing up. After a moment Phoenix responded.
“Sure. Just some water,” Phoenix responded to which Edgeworth gave him an incredulous look.
“Are you serious Wright?” Edgeworth demanded. “Are you really that dense to realize that this cabinet does not contain water? It’s a liquor cabinet. So I’ll ask again do you want something to drink?”
“Oh that’s a bit different,” Phoenix said getting a good evaluation on his state. “I think I’m still a bit tipsy from the wine at the restaurant and I don’t think Maya would appreciate it if I entered the office tomorrow hung over. I guess one drink won’t kill me.”
“No it won’t but I would be careful drinking is a slippery slope,” Edgeworth said gravely pouring a glass of brown liquid for himself. “It is not an activity to engage in too frequently over a short period of time.”
“I’m not too concerned I hardly ever drink,” Phoenix said. “I think I can handle it.” To which Edgeworth shook his head and sighed pouring Phoenix a glass of his own.
“I should probably make you sign a waiver releasing me from any liability based what shape you return to work in,” Edgeworth said remembering his promise to Maya. “I don’t want that crazy girl on my case about the fact that you got back to your office completely drunk.” Edgeworth returned with two drinks in hand offering on to Phoenix.
“Yeah, yeah. To tell the truth I doubt I’d be able to drink much more anyway,” Phoenix said taking a glass from Edgeworth. After which Edgeworth sat down in the chair once again facing Phoenix. Edgeworth started to drink the contents of his glass, while Phoenix just looked at his drink lost in thought.
“You seem a little lost Wright. You are supposed to drink it not look at yourself in it,” Edgeworth said. “Something on your mind?”
“Yeah. I wanted to ask you something myself,” Phoenix answered. “I just don’t know if it’s okay with you.”
“Well you answered my questions. So I suppose I can return the favor,” Edgeworth said allowing himself to be questioned.”
“I guess this is along the lines of your question, but why did you become a prosecutor?” Phoenix inquired. Edgeworth almost spat his drink out after he heard the question. “I mean you would only talk about your father and wanting to follow in his footsteps in elementary school.”
“I should have realized you would ask something like this,” Edgeworth said composing himself and taking a sip from his glass getting ready his long explanation. “If you must know I just couldn’t bring myself to trust people anymore. I found myself believing that everyone was out to get me–everyone except the one person who in face was truly out to destroy me: von Karma. He’s the real influence behind my transformation. He made me believe in his creed: To be perfect. So I would do everything I could to convict people of crime wether or not they were truly guilty. Only since the trial of Hammond began have I started questioning what my job as a prosecutor is. And unfortunately neither have I arrived at an answer nor do I know how long it will take me to find the answer.” Phoenix just sat there in silence, completely in awe of just how complex Edgeworth was. He eventually collected his ideas into a coherent thought.
“Wow. I never realized how complicated being...well you was,” Phoenix said. “I never thought you had such a hard life.”
“That’s enough Wright. I don’t need any sympathy,” Edgeworth said looking away from the defense attorney. “I have chosen the path I currently walk down. I only have myself for my choices.” The grandfather clock in Edgeworth’s living room tolled indicating that it was midnight.
“I suppose I ought to bring you back to your home or at least your office; it’s getting late” Edgeworth said. “Unless you would rather lodge here for the night.” Which shocked Phoenix.
“I’m sorry Edgeworth I don’t think I heard you correctly; you didn’t just offer me the option to spend the night here did you?”
“Yes that is exactly what I said,” Edgeworth answered. “I would rather not have to drive out to get you to your office or apartment and then have to drive back. I really isn’t that much of a hassle just to have you sleep here; all I have to do is set up a guest room.”
“Well if you’re sure I won’t be imposing too much I suppose I could sleep here tonight,” Phoenix accepted.
“You don’t need to be in court tomorrow do you?” Edgeworth inquired. “Because if you do I need to know since I will be the one driving you back to your office and I would rather know now due to the fact that tomorrow is one of my off–days; so if I need to get out of bed at an early hour I would like to know that right this moment.”
“No. Unlike you I get quite a few days off,” Phoenix said with a tone that Edgeworth almost believed was one of sadness. “My office doesn’t see that much business. I guess ever since Mia passed away people are not too thrilled with the idea of being defended by a ‘novice’.”
“I wouldn’t worry too much Wright,” Edgeworth said truthfully. “You just about did the impossible today–you won a case against arguably the greatest prosecutor in the history of law. I’m certain your reputation will skyrocket. “I would think that in the near future people will be breaking down your door to get you to defend them in court.”
“I guess,” Phoenix said his voice picking up a bit. “Thanks Edgeworth.”
“Think nothing of it,” The prosecutor responded noting the time displayed by his clock.. “Anyway lets get you to your guest room. I don’t about you but I could use a good night sleep.”
“Alright. I guess I need a god night sleep myself,” The spiky–haired attorney said rising up from his seat. Edgeworth immediately noticed something was off. When Phoenix started to walk he could not keep his balance and tripped over himself. Edgeworth tried to catch him but was knocked back by the force of the falling attorney. They landed on the floor and Edgeworth immediately started to squirm, trying to remove himself from the inebriated attorney.
“Goddamn it Wright watch where you are going,” Edgeworth nearly yelled. “And please get off me.”
“Man Edgeworth calm down. No need to get flustered,” Phoenix said rather nonchalantly. Phoenix started to stare at Edgeworth and did not get up like the prosecutor had asked him to.
“What are you waiting for Wright? An invitation?” Get off of me,” Edgeworth said losing all patience.
“You know I never noticed but when you get worked up you are kinda cute,” Phoenix assessed. This caused Edgeworth’s breathing to stop for a moment and the color had drained out of his face. Edgeworth’s face went pale. He was clearly not amused by this.
“No. No. Now you’re fucking with me,” Edgeworth stated highly annoyed. “I don’t know what kind of joke this to you, but I...” Edgeworth was cut off when Phoenix pressed his lips to Edgeworth’s. Edgeworth eyes flew open, but he eventually closed them. There was nothing remarkable about the kiss, it was just a small chaste kiss, but for Edgeworth it showed that Phoenix was not joking. After a few moments Phoenix took his lips off of the prosecutor.
“I don’t know what kind of you take me for, but I would never say something like that if I did not mean it,” Phoenix said. “I think I’ve fallen for you.” Edgeworth started to get a little concerned, eyes darting around clearly uncomfortable. He just couldn’t accept the fact that the man who he could never best in court was admitting these feelings toward him.
“Well it must be a joke,” Edgeworth reasoned. “I’m not that great. I’m a jerk, a bully, I’m not that good looking.”
“Man Miles you have to loosen up and stop putting yourself down,” Phoenix offered causing Edgeworth to go rigid at the sound of his first. “See that’s exactly what I mean, everything gets to you.”
“Well excuse me Wright but every single time you refer to me you call me by my surname never my forename,” Edgeworth explained. “And recently my life has gone through a rather large upheaval so there is no reason why I shouldn’t be tense.” This reminded Phoenix that Edgeworth was indeed working through a lot of troubling stuff. Phoenix realized that everything Edgeworth said was true so Phoenix eased up and started to get up. Once he rose up to his feet and had a chance to balance himself he offered a hand to the prosecutor which Edgeworth excepted.
“Okay now that that is over with, where does this leave us?” Edgeworth said brushing off his clothing.
“Well I told you how I feel so that won’t change, but if you don’t feel the same way we can forget this night every happened. I don’t think we should have too much of a problem salvaging our pseudo–friendship. We are both responsible adults,” Phoenix answered truthfully looking rather dejected and feeling rather foolish. What am I thinking there’s no way he would like somebody like me. I shouldn’t have been so quick to lay my card on the table. “So I think it would be better if I left so if you could give me a ride home I would appreciate it. I’ll be outside ready to go once you are ready.” Phoenix walked toward the door. Just as he was about to turn the handle Edgeworth spoke up.
“My offer still stands Wright. You can sleep here tonight,” Edgeworth said. “I have no problem forgetting what just happened.”
“Well if you are sure,” Phoenix said with a great deal of indecision. “I guess so.”
“Okay lets go get your room in order so you have a decent bed to sleep in,” Edgeworth said leading the way up the flight of stairs and down a hallway. They stopped at a room halfway down the hallway. Edgeworth opened the door and stepped in; Phoenix was quick to follow. “Well here’s your room.” The room was large, lush and luxurious. Phoenix was taken aback by the regality of the room.
“Wow this is a guest room? I wonder what the master bedroom is like,” Phoenix asked. “This one room is almost the size of my apartment.”
“Yes well it appears that the bed is still made so I guess the only issue is what you will wear. You don’t need pajamas or something do you?” Edgeworth asked dreading the answer.
“No I’ll be alright. I can just wear my boxers and my dress shirt. I’ll get a chance to wash it before somebody comes to my office.” Phoenix answered Edgeworth let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay so unless you need something else I’ll be in my room. If you need me for some reason my room is the last room down the hall on the right.” Edgeworth said turning his back to Phoenix and started to walk out of the room. “Good Night Wright.”
“Night Edgeworth,” Phoenix responded courteously. Phoenix took off his shoes, socks and his tie and placed his suit jacket and pants on top of the night stand near the bed. He moved the covers down the bed a bit and slipped underneath them. Phoenix let out a large sigh and closed his eyes; he was deep in his thought. I can’t believe what I did today. I practically threw myself at Edgeworth. I guess it was due to the all the alcohol I consumed. He looked at the digital display of the alarm clock next to the bed, noting that it was close to 1 A.M. He closed his eyes, ready to fall asleep. Just as he was about to nod off he noticed a very subtle vibration coming from the floor. What is that? It almost feels like an...earthquake!?! There was no doubt that this was the beginning of an earthquake. Phoenix knew that this would bring a huge amount of distress to the man currently offering the defense attorney lodging. Phoenix threw the covers off of him and jumped out of the bed. He threw the door open and ran out of the guest room. He ran to the end of the hallway and ripped Edgeworth’s door open and almost off the hinges. The sight that met him was upsetting to say the least. He saw Edgeworth lying on his bed, the color drained from his face, on his side, curled up in a fetal position.
“Jesus Christ. Edgeworth are you okay?” Phoenix asked completely concerned for the well–being of the prosecutor. Edgeworth didn’t respond. Phoenix shook Edgeworth a little bit but it did nothing. He remained silent, arms wrapped tightly around his legs. “Edgeworth answer me!” It was like Edgeworth couldn’t hear him. He moved Edgeworth until he was sitting up somewhat. Phoenix sat on the bed behind Edgeworth, wrapped his arms around Edgeworth and placed his chin on top of the other man’s head. He just sat there feeling the heavy breathing of the prosecutor. Phoenix couldn’t help but notice that Edgeworth’s hair smelled almost like vanilla. After five minutes the earthquake started to subside. Phoenix noted that Edgeworth’s breathing started to even out and the death grip he had on his legs loosened a bit. After another ten minutes the earthquake was gone. Edgeworth regained his senses once the earthquake was out of range and he realized the situation he was in; he was clearly mortified, his face regained its color and became flushed.
“Umm...Wright? I believe I know the answer to this question but what are you doing?” Edgeworth inquired noting the arms wrapped around his torso and the relatively compromising position. “I hope that you entered into this situation with completely platonic thoughts in mind.”
“Like you have to ask,” Phoenix responded. “I was only concerned with your well being. I told you that I cared about you; I meant it.”
“That’s what I had hoped to hear,” Edgeworth said trying to move his arms. “Do you mind?”
“Hm? Oh sure. Sorry,” Phoenix said removing his arm from around Edgeworth. “I’m glad to see that you’re okay. You really gave me a scare.”
“It’s weird. You seem to be the first person who has cared so deeply for me,” Edgeworth said turning around to face the defense attorney. “I guess I owe you again.” Edgeworth leaned forward and placed a kiss on Phoenix’s lips. The defense attorney’s eyes grew wide and he immediately placed his hands on Edgeworth’s shoulders and push Edgeworth back until he was at arm’s length.
“Look Edgeworth I understand you feel indebted to me, but if you feel you must repay me please do it in a way that you are comfortable with,” Phoenix said remembering how Edgeworth acted when he had kissed the prosecutor. “I don’t want you to do something you will regret later on. You probably still feel vulnerable from those tremors.”
“Wright you really don’t get it do you,” Edgeworth began once again getting close to the defense attorney. “IthinkIloveyoutoo.” Now it was Phoenix’s turn to have the color drain from his face. He could have sworn he heard what Edgeworth had said correctly even though it was jumbled together, but he needed to be sure.
“What did you say Edgeworth? It sounded like ‘I think love you too’ but that can’t be, it’s clear that you don’t reciprocate my feelings towards you,” Phoenix said clearly confused. “So what did you actually...” Edgeworth returned his lips to Phoenix’s effectively silencing him. After a few seconds Edgeworth pulled back and there was a very clear blush tinting Edgeworth’s cheeks. He looked away from Phoenix.
“I said I love you, you idiot,” Edgeworth said. “I am sorry I made it seem like I wasn’t interested. I just completely sure of my feelings towards you. But by this point I see that it would be completely moronic on my part to let you get away from me. But still the fact that someone so nice would like someone so...well for lack of a better word malicious seems hard for me grasp.” Phoenix wanting to erase all doubt from Edgeworth’s mind placed his lips onto Edgeworth’s which caused Edgeworth to tense up as if by instinct. Initially the kiss was chaste and easy, but once he felt Edgeworth relax Phoenix snaked his tongue out of his mouth to rub up against Edgeworth’s bottom lip. Once again he was met with the same resistance he had previously. Still rubbing his tongue along Edgeworth’s lips, he patiently waited for the man to relax again. After a few seconds Phoenix realized that Edgeworth wasn’t going to relax. This is going to be a problem, Phoenix thought to himself. He moved his head back to look at Edgeworth. He noticed that Edgeworth’s face was somewhat scrunched up.
“Man. What’s wrong now Edgeworth,” Phoenix asked seemingly concerned. “Look Miles your gonna have to relax or this isn’t going to go anywhere.”
“I’m sorry Wri...Phoenix,” Edgeworth said. “I guess I’m just nervous. I have never done anything like this before.” Phoenix started snickering a bit making Edgeworth irate. “You find something amusing Wright!?!”
“Sorry. Sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. It’s just that you were right. It is awkward to have someone who only refers to you by last name to call you by your first name.” Phoenix apologized. “It’s alright I haven’t done much myself.”
“Be careful next time. That really offended me,” Edgeworth said. “At least I am not the only one here who is somewhat in the dark.” Noting that Edgeworth had calmed down a bit, Phoenix returned to Edgeworth’s lips resuming where he left off. This time Edgeworth was stoic. He didn’t tense up, which Phoenix took as a good sign, but he was far from relaxed. Phoenix once again dragged his tongue against Edgeworth’s lips. Once again there was no change in his attitude.
So far so good, Phoenix thought to himself, but he still couldn’t get the desired effect. Needing to be creative, Phoenix thought of ways to get Edgeworth to open up. He ran his hands up Edgeworth’s abdomen, unbuttoning each button that got in his hand’s way. Once his hand made it up to neck, Edgeworth’s red pajama top was barely hanging onto his torso. The top was quickly removed from Edgeworth’s person. Phoenix ran his hand up Edgeworth’s bare side. Once his finger traced over a pink nub Edgeworth gasped which was muffled by Phoenix’s mouth.
I finally got you Edgeworth, Phoenix thought to himself taking full advantage of the situation with a two-pronged attack: thrusting his tongue into Edgeworth’s mouth and removing Edgeworth’s top, throwing it over and behind his head letting it sit wherever it fell. Edgeworth was clearly shocked but to his credit he did not tense up. Phoenix took this opportunity to map out Edgeworth’s mouth with his tongue dragging his tongue along his gums. Once he felt Edgeworth relax Phoenix’s hands returned their attention to Edgeworth’s body. His hand once again caressed Edgeworth’s nipples. Causing Edgeworth to moan into the kiss. Phoenix was content to do this until his body’s demand for oxygen became too great. He moved his head back to get a breath of fresh air, but the sight in front of him left his breathless.
Edgeworth was very flushed and was panting. Phoenix had never seen such an enticing sight. Phoenix knowing he had to do something began kissing a trail down Edgeworth’s body. He started at Edgeworth’s left ear and after sucking on the lobe for a few moments began his descent. The defense attorney brought his lips from the prosecutor’s ear down to his jaw. From there his traveled down the side of Edgeworth’s neck. While paying attention to Edgeworth’s neck he dragged his tongue across the area of skin lapping up the sweat that had accumulated during their activity. Once he reached the juncture of Edgeworth’s neck and shoulder Pheonix nipped at this sensitive spot causing a gasp to escape from the prosecutor. Noting this Phoenix retreated for a bit to ask Edgeworth about his discovery.
“A bit sensitive aren’t we?” Phoenix teased a bit.
“Shut up and keep doing what you were doing,” Edgeworth demanded.
“Wow aren’t you the impatient one,” Phoenix amended with a small chuckle. “Your wish is my command. Phoenix brought his head back to Edgeworth’s neck and resumed biting the area, this time a bit harder than before, intent on leaving a mark. All the while Edgeworth was making the most erotic sounds Phoenix had ever heard. Wanting to hear more of these various sound continued his journey down Edgeworth’s body, stopping this time at Edgeworth’s collar bone. Once again chomping down on little bits of skin every few inches, as if his purpose was to be able to see his path later. After he had sufficiently marked up Edgeworth’s clavicle, he kept on traveling south. He only stopped once he reached a nipple. He took the small nub into his mouth and ever so gently bit down on it.
“Christ, Phoenix! Maybe a little warning next time,” Edgeworth exclaimed. Phoenix paused contemplating what Edgeworth had said. Phoenix decided he rather enjoyed the reaction from his black–haired companion and repeated this action only this time significantly harder hoping to draw out another, even stronger response. He was not disappointed, as soon as he bit down Edgeworth let out a huge moan, obviously enjoying the treatment. Phoenix retreated for a second only to move over to the other protuberance. Phoenix let his head dangle above Edgeworth’s chest letting his breath caress the so far neglected nipple. Edgeworth’s breath hitched for a second and he released a large groan of anticipation. Phoenix decided to tease Edgeworth a little; he moved his tongue in a small circle that just touched the little nub. After Phoenix had completed a few circles around the bump he chose to show some mercy and dragged his tongue along the nipple. Noting a positive reaction from Edgeworth drove Phoenix to treat this nub in the exact same fashion as its twin. As soon as Phoenix bit down as hard as he could without doing any damage; Edgeworth let out a small yelp. Phoenix released the lump and before continuing south he returned to Edgeworth’s mouth and place a kiss on Edgeworth’s lips.
Edgeworth’s reaction was the best yet. He stayed completely relaxed and as soon as Phoenix traced Egdeworth’s lips with his tongue, Edgeworth opened his mouth and reciprocated by returning the kiss with an intensity that Phoenix had rarely seen before. Phoenix gasped in response and Edgeworth took this opportunity to snake his tongue into Phoenix’s mouth shocking the defense attorney. The kiss was as heated as either of the men could imagine. When they separated they were both out of breath and panting hard.
“Wow. That was hot,” Phoenix noted. Edgeworth on the other hand was fidgeting a bit.
“Phoenix get on with it already,” Edgeworth demanded which caused Phoenix to laugh.
“Alright, alright. God remind me to never leave you waiting,” Phoenix responded. Phoenix returned his attention to Edgeworth’s body once again. He followed the same path he had taken previously. Once he reached the end of his first trip Phoenix left Edgeworth’s chest, dragging his tongue down from Edgeworth’s pectorals to his abdomen memorizing the bumps and dents caused by the mild definition of the prosecutor’s abs. Once Phoenix finished tracing intricate patterns along Edgeworth’s abs he continued his journey down toward the one thing that Edgeworth truly wanted. But in order to get to his destination he would have to deal with one last obstacle. Phoenix gripped the hem of both Edgeworth’s red pajama bottoms and boxers at the same time and pulled them down off of Edgeworth’s body to join the top of Edgeworth’s pajamas. Phoenix noticed that when he got closer to Edgeworth’s arousal he shorter Edgeworth’s breaths became. Phoenix knew that Edgeworth wanted release but he was feeling a little devious. He wanted to hear Edgeworth beg; to have his ask for what he wanted the most. He continued down Edgeworth’s body paying attention to get as close to Edgeworth’s cock without ever touching it. He passed Edgeworth’s penis and began to nip the inside of Edgeworth’s thigh causing Edgeworth to groan in despair upon realizing what game Phoenix was playing. The prosecutor did not want to demean himself by begging, but he knew that if he wanted any sort of release he would have to swallow his pride.
“Nick please, no more games,” Edgeworth begged in the nicest voice he could muster. “I can’t take much more of this. You have been torturing me for what feels like an eternity.” Phoenix getting what he desired and more let a victorious grin appear on his face at the utterance of the abbreviation of his name. Since he was satisfied Phoenix figured he should give Edgeworth what he wanted. He returned to Edgeworth’s face for one last quick kiss before descending once again. This time there was no wait, Phoenix knelt down in front of Edgeworth–his head right next to Edgeworth’s need, breathing hot air onto it. Phoenix moved his tongue from the base of Edgeworth’s cock to the head tracing intricate patterns on the shaft making Edgeworth writhe. Once he got back to the tip Phoenix opened his mouth and took the head into his mouth. Causing Edgeworth to moan and almost yell.
“Fuck!!!” Edgeworth exclaimed. He could speak after that all he could do was wrap his hands around the black hair of the man giving him so much pleasure and make unintelligible, animalistic noises. Phoenix understood what Edgeworth wanted and fully intended on giving it to him. Phoenix relaxed his throat and allowed himself to swallow more of the prosecutor’s cock. Phoenix allowed Edgeworth to do what he wanted with his mouth. As soon as the defense attorney had given control over to Edgeworth; the prosecutor began fucking Phoenix’s mouth at a fairly rapid pace. The spiky–haired man needed to adjust quickly or else he would find himself being asphyxiated. He found a rhythm that allowed him the oxygen needed while giving all the pleasure Edgeworth needed. Phoenix barely noticed that Edgeworth’s breathing was becoming exceptionally rapid, shallow and ragged.
“Ugh...Phoenix...I’m...getting...close,” Edgeworth groaned between breaths giving the defense attorney the best warning he could muster. Edgeworth began thrusting Phoenix’s head down onto his arousal at an extremely fast pace. Thankfully for the defense attorney this treatment wasn’t going to last. After a few seconds of this rough treatment, Edgeworth lost himself and thrust Phoenix’s head down especially hard and held him there while he deposited most of his load down the spiky–haired man’s throat. Phoenix had a hard time swallowing it all and thus some of Edgeworth’s cum began to seep out from the corners of his mouth. Panting Edgeworth extricated himself from the warm confines of Phoenix’s mouth and fell back, he crashing on top of his pillows.
“Wow. That was amazing,” Edgeworth admitted. “Didn’t you say you’ve never done anything like this before Phoenix? That was too good to be your first blowjob.”
“Well thanks for the complement,” Phoenix stated licking the excess cum from his lips. “But I was serious when I said I had never done anything sexual before.” This left Edgeworth with a shocked look on his face. He couldn’t understand how someone who had just given him such an amazing blowjob had never give one before.
“I can’t even imagine where you learned that,” Edgeworth admitted hating himself for acknowledging this ignorance. “I can’t think of any other logical explanation.
“It’s actually quite simple,” Phoenix started letting the statement settle in the air before continuing. “Well it’s a little embarrassing, but Maya likes to read yaoi fan fiction and doujinshi and after being around it for a bit I picked it up during my off days at the office.” This caught Edgeworth completely off guard.
“You’re kidding right?” Edgeworth asked. “You got that much skill from just reading?”
“Yeah. I know it seems farfetched,” Phoenix explained. “But some of those stories were pretty descriptive.”
“So you learned all those tricks from fandom? Edgeworth asked. “Geez is there anything you can’t learn online?” This statement caused a small smirk to appear on both men’s faces.
“Well it certain helps one learn all the tools of any trade,” Phoenix said. “And learn about just about anything. It will certainly help in a bit. With that said Phoenix ended the conversation by kissing Edgeworth. Phoenix was hoping to share the exotic taste that was currently lingering in his mouth. So as soon as Edgeworth noticed the strange taste he pulled back.
“What are you doing Phoenix?” Edgeworth demanded. “Is this something that you picked up from your readings?”
“Yeah. It always seemed enjoyable,” Phoenix answered seemingly crestfallen. “But if it too much I understand.”
“Man...I am such a pushover when it comes to you,” Edgeworth admitted. “I guess I can try it again.” Phoenix let a victorious smirk appear on his face and quickly lent over and resumed kissing the black–haired prosecutor. Edgeworth was dreading the kiss knowing what was in Phoenix’s mouth, but to his surprise what he thought would taste awful actually had very little taste and whatever small amount was sensed only compounded the sweet taste of Phoenix’s mouth, making the kiss more enjoyable for Edgeworth who kissed back with more fervor than Phoenix could imagine. Phoenix was taken completely aback by the forwardness of Edgeworth who was invading Phoenix’s mouth. When Edgeworth decided to end the kiss, he was a little winded, but Phoenix on the other hand was absolutely lightheaded.
“What was that?” Phoenix asked his head still in a fog, not sure if what he experienced really happen.
“Hm? It was a kiss,” Edgeworth answered confusedly. “More specifically it’s what you wanted was it not?”
“Well it was pretty much exactly what I wanted,” Phoenix said with a sheepish grin. “But...”
“But what?” Edgeworth asked urging Phoenix to finish his sentence.
“Well I wasn’t expecting so much intensity coming from one as reserved as you,” Phoenix answered honestly.
“Is that all? You should know me better than that Phoenix,” Edgeworth stated. “You know how surprising I can be. I always have something up my proverbial sleeve. But enough of that I see two problems here.”
“Oh? And what would those be?” Phoenix inquired.
“One you still have your clothes on,” Edgeworth said noticing that while he was naked his partner was still clothed in his dress shirt and boxers. “And number two is this.” Edgeworth extended his arm and palmed Phoenix’s clothed erection drawing a long moan from the defense attorney. “We need to do something about this. But I would appreciate it if we were on an even playing field.” Edgeworth moved his hand up trying to remove Phoenix’s shirt, but Phoenix batted the prosecutor’s hands away.
“Allow me,” Phoenix offered. He took a few steps away from the bed and began to undress. The defense attorney began popping buttons out of the holes on his dress shirt, shaking his hips to a silent beat. “Enjoying the show?” Edgeworth just nodded his head realizing just how dry his lips were and subsequently let his tongue snake out of his mouth to wet his lips. Phoenix now finished removing his white dress shirt placed his thumbs under the seam of his blue boxers, pulling them down his legs slowly. Once he finished he stepped out of the pile of clothes and returned to the bed to find an extremely eager prosecutor. As soon as Phoenix put his weight on the bed; he was met with an all-consuming kiss from Edgeworth. Once the kiss ended and Phoenix caught his breath, he wanted a question answered.
“Enjoyed the show that much huh?” Phoenix asked.
“I don’t think I have ever been, nor will I ever be more turned on by a striptease,” Edgeworth answered, the actions of the other man still running clearly through his head. Phoenix on the other hand was contemplating what was going to be the very near future.
“Well considering the fact that this happened on the fly I’m assuming you got no real lube here, huh?” Phoenix asked rather rhetorically. “We might need to be creative.”
“Unfortunately I don’t have anything too good for our need,” Edgeworth said.
“Well there always one thing that I’ve read about that seems to work,” Phoenix offered.
“I suppose it will have to do,” Edgeworth conceded. “What is it?” Edgeworth’s question was answered in silence when Phoenix presented three fingers to Edgeworth. Edgeworth let a rather large groan fall from his lips clearly frustrated over the lack of anything more proper. Defeated he opened his mouth and allowed Phoenix’s fingers the chance to invade his mouth. Phoenix gently inserted his fingers past Edgeworth lips.
“Sorry. I doubt this is too enjoyable for you but please make them as wet as you can,” Phoenix apologized. “The wetter my fingers are the easier it will be later on.” Edgeworth began sucking on the defense attorney’s fingers doing his best to thoroughly wet them. He focused on one finger at a time, running his tongue over each making sure that each finger was as slick as he could possibly make them.
“Alright Edgeworth I think that will do,” Phoenix evaluated. He noted the small strand of saliva that broke when he pulled his fingers away. The sight was enough to make Phoenix drool; but remembering the task at hand and the fact that the saliva would only work for so long he got to work. Keeping his body pretty much parallel with the body of his rival; Phoenix began by placing a kiss upon Edgeworth’s lips. Only once the prosecutor was seemingly focused on the heated kiss did Phoenix truly start. He began by gently rubbing the tight ring of muscles with his index finger, never penetrating it; just providing enough pressure to cause Edgeworth to relax; almost like a massage. Once he felt that Edgeworth was ready Phoenix applied a little more pressure and pushed his finger just inside of Edgeworth up to the first knuckle. He felt the prosecutor instinctively tense up; so Phoenix just left his finger where it was and tried to distract Edgeworth using the kiss they were currently engaged in but this did not do the job. Phoenix didn’t want to wait so he decided to fight the discomfort that Edgeworth was feeling with its antithesis: pleasure. The defense attorney snaked a hand up to Edgeworth’s chest and began pinching a nipple. Edgeworth moaned into the kiss and relaxed just enough for Phoenix to insert his finger all the way. Phoenix moved his hand down Edgeworth’s body and gripped the prosecutor’s erection. He started stroking Edgeworth’s need slowly, building up to a nice rhythm. Edgeworth was so focused on the pleasure received that he almost didn’t notice when the defense attorney slipped another finger into him. Once again Edgeworth tensed up and Phoenix was left with no other choice but to comfort the man. Phoenix once again began stroking the prosecutor’s need trying to quickly get rid of the pain or discomfort using pleasure. He succeeded and was able to start scissoring his fingers, trying to prepare Edgeworth for what was about to come. Phoenix was trying to do two things at once: prepare Edgeworth and find that spot that would cause the prosecutor to scream Phoenix’s name. A large moan that was close to a yell indicated that Phoenix had found the bundle of nerves he was looking for. The defense attorney decided to slow things down a bit; intentionally missing that spot that would cause Edgeworth pleasure; frustrating the man writhing on the bed to no end.
“Phoenix please...” Edgeworth begged almost unable to form his sentence. “Do that again.” Phoenix was planning to but first he wanted to continue his preparation of the prosecutor. Phoenix was able to push in his third finger into Edgeworth who at this point only constricted his muscles for a second before relaxing. As a reward Phoenix rewarded the young man, incessantly prodding that one spot that would drive the prosecutor mad. At this point the prosecutor could not even form the words he wanted to say. He was preoccupied by the pleasure traveling through his spine and then to everywhere else. Phoenix finished his job and retracted his fingers despite a large groan protesting the action. Phoenix knew that Edgeworth was disappointed but he would only be without pleasure for a few moments. The defense attorney was a little concerned with asking but there was no way around it.
“Miles I’m going to need you to make me nice a slick,” Phoenix stated presenting his throbbing arousal to Edgeworth. Edgeworth didn’t think twice; opening his mouth and taking the defense attorney into his mouth and almost all the way down to the base. Edgeworth bobbed his head on the erection knowing that the faster he finished the faster he would get the satisfaction he wanted. The intensity of the blowjob surprised the defense attorney and he almost lost his balance nearly bonking his head against the headboard.
“...Okay...Miles that’s good,” Phoenix said trying to remove himself from the eager man’s mouth before his plans were ruined. “Man...Remind me to ask where you learned to give such a good blowjob.” The defense attorney’s curiosity was peaked but he decided to ask later so he could quickly return to the task at hand. Knowing what he wanted to ask the prosecutor what he wanted.
“Miles how do you want to do this?” Phoenix asked. “Any specific position you fantasized about?
“I don’t care just do something,” Edgeworth demanded.
“Okay, Okay,” Phoenix said understand the other man’s impatience. He crawled into position near Edgeworth who was lying down on the bed as if he was going to go to sleep. Lifting up the prosecutor’s legs revealing his final destination; the spiky–haired man shifted his body closer to the black–haired prosecutor. Once he got close enough he asked Edgeworth an almost obligatory question despite the fact that he knew the answer already.
“Last chance Edgeworth. You sure you want to do this?” Phoenix asked. His question was no answered in a sentence; not even in a word; just the incredibly intense kiss that Edgeworth initiated upon the termination of the question gave the defense attorney the answer he needed. Never break the kiss; Phoenix grasped his erection and guided to Edgeworth’s hole. Applying a little amount of pressure in order to relax the tight ring of muscles was the first thing that Phoenix decided on doing in order to relax the impatient man. Just like when he used his fingers Phoenix took the utmost care to only move once he believed Edgeworth was ready. Once he felt the man beneath him relax, Phoenix began to push harder and was able to breach the ring of muscle. He stopped once the head was inside the prosecutor because he felt Edgeworth tense up and he because he noticed that Edgeworth had made an almost pained grunt into the kiss.
“Are you okay Edgeworth?” Phoenix asked concerned for the well being of the man under him. “You aren’t hurt are you?”
“No. I’m fine. It’s just a little uncomfortable,” Edgeworth said between pants. “Just give me a second.” Phoenix nodded and despite his body’s urge to ram himself into Edgeworth; he stayed motionless allowing for the other man to adjust. Unfortunately for Phoenix the minute wait felt like an eternity.
“Okay I think I’m good just don’t rush too much,” Edgeworth said, his lust reaching a new peak. His need for release was countering any semblance of reason and most thoughts of self-preservation. But upon hearing this Phoenix immediately began to push further in only stopping once he was about halfway in. Giving the other man just a handful of seconds to adjust Phoenix slowly pushed himself all the way in and then stopping to check on the condition of Edgeworth.
“You okay?” Phoenix asked. Once again his question was asnswered with an action when Edgeworth wrapped his legs around Phoenix’s hips. Phoenix knowing that Edgeworth was past the worst of his pain began to withdraw immediately earning a groan from the prosecutor. Once only the head of Phoenix’s cock was still present inside of Edgeworth did he begin to thrust in again earning a loud moan from the prosecutor. Setting up a slow pace, Phoenix began to lose his control; finding it harder and harder to not just plow Edgeworth through the mattress. To distract him from those thoughts Phoenix decided to try and locate that one spot that would have Edgeworth yelling his name. After adjusting the angle of his thrusts after a few thrusts, Phoenix thrust in particularly hard and squarely hit Edgeworth’s prostate.
“Shit!” Edgeworth exclaimed. “Do that again.” Pheonix was happy to oblige knowing that any increase in power of depth of his thrusts would not be a problem; the defense attorney began to speed up his thrusts; each time hitting the one spot that caused Edgeworth to see white stars behind his eyelids and to chant a series of curses begging Phoenix for more. Phoenix was using as much power as he felt he could, but since Edgeworth wanted more Phoenix had to think quickly and thought of an idea. Slamming into Edgeworth with a thrust more powerful than any previous one; the spiky–haired defense attorney caused so much pleasure for the prosecutor that he lost control of the muscles in his legs. Edgeworth legs unwound themselves from around Phoenix’s body giving the defense attorney the opportunity to flip both of them over so Phoenix was on his back and Edgeworth was riding him. Edgeworth recognized what Phoenix had done and his face grew even redder this time not from lust but rather from embarrassment.
“Are you serious Wright?” Edgeworth asked seemingly mortified by the situation.
“What? I’m giving you control over the situation,” Phoenix explained. “ You go as hard and fast as you want.” Edgeworth understanding began to ride the man underneath him. Using all the energy he could muster raising his body up and then using less energy and the assistance of gravity to slam himself down onto Phoenix’s arousal. After the first slam had pushed himself down onto Phoenix’s erection with such a force, exactly on the right spot, Edgeworth was so surprised that he didn’t moan, groan or yelp; he screamed. Phoenix was scared for a second thinking that Edgeworth was injured but as soon as Edgeworth lent forward for a kiss; the defense attorney was able to put two and two together and realized what had happened. To heighten this every time Edgeworth came down Phoenix would thrust his hips up. Once they got used to their new position the two lawyers were able to begin speeding up their actions. Phoenix not having released at any point during the night was awfully sensitive and realized he would not last too long. In order to make sure that he did not leave Edgeworth hanging, the defense attorney reached his hand out and grasped the prosecutor’s arousal and began stroking it in sync with Edgeworth’s thrusting, but the initial action was sloppy. Once Phoenix got everything to match up; he knew that Edgeworth wasn’t going to last long when he realized that Edgeworth couldn’t even continue the kiss. Edgeworth was flushed, sweat covering his body and the most erotic noises Phoenix had ever heard escaped from his mouth.
“Uugghh...Phoenix. Don’t...stop. I’m so...close,” Edgeworth managed to state in between gasps, moans and groans. He wouldn’t be disappointed seeing as how there was no chance that Phoenix would ever stop thrusting up into him.
“Me too,” Phoenix said taking his free hand and placing it on Edgeworth’s neck urging the man to lean forward. Once the prosecutor was close enough an animalistic urge overtook the defense attorney and he craned his neck up and placed his lips around the soft skin of his neck suckling at the sweat that coated the area. After a few seconds Phoenix took his lips off the area and replaced it with his teeth. Phoenix bit down hard–hard enough to break the skin causing Edgeworth to scream again. Phoenix hadn’t realized just how hard he had bit down until he tasted the metallic taste of blood. But this small amount of pain that Edgeworth suffered seemed to be just the catalyst needed to tumble over his pleasurable precipice. Edgeworth came hard; the only warning was a large moan; covering Phoenix’s stomach and chest in cum. His orgasm caused him to clench around Phoenix’s intruding organ. Phoenix’s own orgasm was close at hand; and his perception of tight was shattered by how Edgeworth’s entrance became like a vise. After only a few more thrusts; the defense attorney couldn’t hold off anymore. With a moan Phoenix emptied himself into the prosecutor. Taking a few breaths before moving, Edgeworth tried to regain his composure. Edgeworth took a large breath and began to stand up. With a decent amount of effort he stood up on the bed and dropped down onto the floor. Before getting back into the bed he noticed the mess on Phoenix’s body.
“Man. Phoenix you are a mess,” Edgeworth noticed. “We need to do something about this.”
“Yeah guess so,” Phoenix agreed. “Got some tissues or something?”
“Yes but I think I got a better idea,” Edgeworth offered.
“Oh? What is it?” Phoenix inquired. His question was answered when Edgeworth leaned over the defense attorney and began licking up the sticky mess starting with his softening cock and working his way up. Once the mess was cleaned up Edgeworth continued up and placed his lips against Phoenix’s and let Phoenix invade his mouth to steal the taste in his mouth. After the defense attorney got all he thought he was going to he broke the kiss.
“Please tell me you don’t want more,” Phoenix dreaded. “I mean yes it was great but I need a rest.”
“Don’t worry Phoenix I have no intention of repeat our actions now,” Edgeworth assured. “I just wanted to clean you up so you wouldn’t wake up sticky. Besides I don’t want another one of these.” Edgeworth pointed to his neck where Phoenix had punctured his skin to which Phoenix could only smile sheepishly. Edgeworth crawled into the bed and pulled up the long forgotten covers over both of them. The warm embrace of sleep was trying to get them to relax and bring them into dreamland. There was enough time for one last chaste kiss and an exchange of “I love you’s” before the Sandman’s spell worked.
December, 29 10:00 A.M.
Edgeworth’s Mansion
Master Bedroom
The silence of the morning was broken by the loud, shrill sound of Edgeworth’s alarm clock going off. Edgeworth was the first to be roused from his sleep by the ringing. He groggily snaked his hand out from under the covers and slammed his hand down onto the clock pressing the off button. The first thing he realized was that for the first time in 15 years, Edgeworth had not suffered from any sort of nightmare. He began to get up when he was stopped by a sharp pain that started near his coccyx and shot up his entire body. This was the first thing that he found odd, forgetting what had happened earlier that day until his eyes focused upon the man sharing his bed. The events of earlier that morning came flooding back; Edgeworth blushed fiercely from the memory of the mind–boggling pleasure he received. He had to push these thoughts to the back of his head. For now Edgeworth needed to get moving, he needed to get himself and Phoenix moving. He shook the defense attorney’s shoulder trying to awaken the sleeping man. A groan and a subsequent yawn told the prosecutor that the man was up.
“A few more minutes Maya,” Phoenix asked sleepily believing that he had fallen asleep in his office. A small chuckle from Edgeworth woke up Phoenix quickly and he bolted up confused as to why Edgeworth was waking him up. Once he got a good look at his surroundings did he realize where he was and the reality of what happened sunk in. “Edgeworth did we do anything together?”
“Forgot already? Well the answer is yes,” Edgeworth said watching the color drain from the other man. “We shared a bed.”
“Your kidding right?” Phoenix asked still denying reality. “Didn’t I just get drunk and pass out?”
“Nope. You seemed pretty cognizant,” Edgeworth commented noticing the fact that Phoenix was doing anything he could not to recognize the truth. He would have to snap the other man out of his delirium. “Look face the facts Phoenix: We fucked! What’s the big deal? Isn’t that what you wanted?”
“Well yeah more than anything,” Phoenix admitted. “But since it actually happened I can’t believe I acted in such a way.”
“The alcohol probably contributed a great deal though,” Edgeworth reasoned. “Don’t tell me you regret any of it.”
“No not really...except one thing,” Phoenix answered causing Edgeworth to arch a brow. “That.” Phoenix pointed to the red marks on Edgeworth’s neck.
“What this? It’s no big deal since I wear a cravat when I am out of the house,” Edgeworth condoled. “Nobody should be any the wiser.”
“Okay well then I have no qualms,” Phoenix said with a smile. “So what now?”
“Well we need to clean up so if you want to shower first I’ll prepare breakfast,” the prosecutor offered. Phoenix quickly accepted the offer. “Everything you need should be in the bathroom. What do you want to eat? Eggs? Pancakes? Waffles? French toast? Hot cereal?”
“I guess a few eggs would do,” Phoenix chose walking toward the bathroom. “Any way you cook them should be fine.” Phoenix closed the door. As he left, Edgeworth left the master bedroom, walked down the hall and down the steps. Phoenix entered the lush bathroom and made a beeline for the shower. He opened the sliding glass door and stepped onto the rubber mat. He reached over to the nozzles and adjusted them until he got a stream of water that was at a satisfactory temperature. The defense attorney the turned the third nozzle and redirected the water to the showerhead. After standing under the warm running water for a few moments, Phoenix found a bar of soap and used it to lather up his body and then rinsed the soap off. He then grabbed a container of shampoo and squirted a good glob of it onto his hand. Phoenix rubbed his hands together and then ran his hands through his hair. The defense attorney rinsed all the shampoo out of his hair and then shut off the water. Phoenix slid the door open a crack and snaked his arm out to grab a clean, white towel; finding one he began to dry himself. Once he was dry enough that he wouldn’t drip water around the house; Phoenix wrapped a towel around his waist and proceeded to find Edgeworth. He left Edgeworth’s bedroom, went down the hallway, descended the steps and then was unsure of which direction to go.
During all this Edgeworth was busy cooking. He had gone straight to his fridge and pulled out a container of butter and four eggs. He walked towards his stove only stopping to open a drawer and pull out a small butter knife and a fork. Reaching his destination, the prosecutor reached into the cabinet under the stove and pulled out a frying pan. Turning the oven on and placing the pan on top of the flame, he was ready to begin cooking. He placed a small lump of butter in the pan and waited for it to melt. Once it was liquid Edgeworth tilted the pan, coating it in a thin layer of grease. Breaking the eggs into the pan and tossing the shells; Edgeworth started preparing the eggs, breaking them up with the fork. Five minuted later the eggs were solid and ready to be eaten. He broke the portion in half and began eating waiting for the other man to finish his shower.
“Edgeworth, where are you?” Phoenix yelled trying to ascertain the location of the prosecutor. Edgeworth lifted his head up from his food.
“Over here,” Edgeworth responded loudly. The defense attorney was able to find the kitchen and got there just in time to see Edgeworth finishing off his eggs. Not even lifting his head Edgeworth continued talking. “Done already? I guess the timing couldn’t be more perfect, please eat up I’ll be back in a few minutes.” Edgeworth stood up and both men noticed something strange about the other.
“I thought you said you didn’t use gel,” Edgeworth said noting how flat the defense attorney’s normally spiky hair was. “But I suppose that would be impossible.”
“Yeah well...you are a little surprising too,” Phoenix started. “Do you normally walk around the house in your birthday suit?”
“No, but since I don’t want to dirty up my clothes there was no point in getting dressed,” Edgeworth explained And I am not expecting anyone anyway so the only person who would see me in this state would be you; considering that you fucked me earlier I doubt that you would care if I was nude.”
“Fair enough,” Phoenix said. The defense attorney’s stomach growled signaling that he should eat something. “Well I need to eat.” Phoenix turned his attention to the plate of eggs on the table.
“Fine. Eat up,” Edgeworth said turning his back on the other man and began walking back to his bathroom. Phoenix devoured his eggs in no time. Once he finished he placed his plate and fork in the sink and proceeded up to the bedrooms to collect his clothes. Once he found his shoes, socks, tie and pants in the guest room he returned to Edgeworth’s room in order to find his boxers and dress shirt. Once he found all his articles of clothing he started to get dressed. Once he finished he sat down on the bed and waited for Edgeworth to finish up. The prosecutor emerged a few minutes later with a towel wrapped around his waist.
“Is there anything you need me to do while you finish getting ready?” Phoenix asked.
“Just the dishes but it can wait until I get back,” Edgeworth answered.
“No problem,” Phoenix said. “I need something to do before we leave anyway.” Phoenix got up and walked towards the kitchen while Edgeworth laid out his clothes. Phoenix returned to the kitchen and turned the faucet on; rinsing the dishes. He grabbed the sponge on the side of sink and lathered up the dishes and utensils. He washed the detergent off and placed the dishes on a drying rack and the utensils in a small bin. When he placed the last fork in the bin he was greeted by a fully–dressed Edgeworth holding his car keys in his hand.
“You finished?” Edgeworth asked to which Phoenix nodded. “Thanks. Lets get going.”
Edgeworth led the defense attorney to the door. Urging him to leave first so the prosecutor could lock the door behind them. Walking towards the same vehicle they arrived in the previous day, Edgeworth unlocked the doors and the two men got into the front of the car. Edgeworth pulled out of the driveway and got onto the highway and began the trip back to Phoenix’s office. After a few minutes contemplating the past and future Phoenix needed to speak up.
“So Miles where does this leave us?” Phoenix asked recalling everything that happened in the previous day.
“I’m not entirely sure Phoenix,” Edgeworth answered honestly. “But one thing I think we can agree on is that we don’t want to let the others know about our...activities.”
“Of course. That is just about the last thing I want to tell Maya or Larry. And I’m sure this is something that you would want to hide from Gumshoe.”
“Naturally, but how do are we supposed to interact with each other without drawing suspicion to our relationship,” Edgeworth offered.
“I guess the first thing is to return to our use of the other’s surname when address each other,” Phoenix began. “The only other thing is that we need to talk about the each other with the same contempt we normally would.”
“That shouldn’t be a problem,” Edgeworth said. “Especially once we meet again in court.”
“I’m glad we have a plan for this, but there is one other thing,” Phoenix started. “What do you think of what happened? Is this going to be a one–night stand or something more?” Phoenix looked away almost afraid of the answer that Edgeworth would give. Edgeworth turned his head slightly away from the road and let a small titter sound. They reached the end of the highway and encountered the first red light on the city streets without a word. Once they stopped Edgeworth knew he needed to break the silence and comfort the other man who was still looking away.
“Phoenix. Turn around,” Edgeworth ordered in a stern voice. Phoenix tensed up and turned his head around slowly to meet the gaze of the prosecutor. “Why ask? I told you how I felt last night. And if I didn’t love you, I would have to lose all my pride and dignity to submit to you in such a way.” Phoenix was reassured by this but what really proved that Edgeworth was telling the truth was when Edgeworth reached over to Phoenix and planted a small kiss on the defense attorney’s lips. It was a short shallow kiss but it put Phoenix at ease.
“Thanks Miles,” Phoenix said now smiling.
“No problem,” Edgeworth responded. The remainder of the trip was spent in a comforting silence. Ten minutes later they arrived at Phoenix’s office building. Edgeworth pulled up to the front of the building and into a spot they were lucky enough to find. Phoenix got out of the car. He turned around to say goodbye, but to his surprise he found Edgeworth exiting the car.
“You’re coming up with me?” Phoenix asked confused.
“Why not. I told you I don’t have any work today,” Edgeworth said. “I guess I could go up and see Maya; I did promise you that nothing would happen to you.” They headed toward the door and just before they entered the building something caught the attention of both men.
“Isn’t that Gumshoe’s squad car?” Phoenix asked.
“It is. No doubt about it,” Edgeworth responded.
“You don’t think Maya called do you?” Phoenix asked reaching into his jacket pocket pulling out his cellphone. His face turned pale when he realized it was off. He quickly turned it on and as soon as it finished loading up he saw an alert letting him know that he had over fifty missed calls. “Apparently Maya has been trying to reach me for a while. She must have called Gumshoe concerned that something has happened. Did Gumshoe call you?”
“No I don’t think so,” Edgeworth asked retrieving his phone. Once he had it he realized that it too was off. He immediately turned it on and looked at the display indicating that he had one called from Gumshoe. “Well we really are a pair. We both turned our cellphones off. And I don’t reveal my home number to many people, Gumshoe has no other way to contact me other than my cellphone or my office phone. Well anyway lets get up there and quell this disaster.” Phoenix led the way and when the got to the office they heard two people talking. The door was unlocked so they just walked in.
“I’m sorry but we are not representing anyone today,” Maya said before turning around looking up the two men her large frown transformed into a huge smile. “Nick! Edgeworth! You’re okay. I’m so relieved...I thought something horrible happened. I couldn’t get in touch with you.”
“Maya who’s there?” Gumshoe asked emerging from the back of the office. “Wright! Sir! There you are. I figured you were just a little late.”
“I just left my phone off by accident,” Phoenix explained. “That’s why you couldn’t find me.”
“What about Mr. Edgeworth?” Gumshoe inquired. “I couldn’t contact him either.”
“Edgeworth had also turned off his phone,” Phoenix answered.
“It surprised me. I couldn’t even remember turning the phone off,” Edgeworth amended.
“Well since you are here how about a cup of coffee?” Maya asked.
“Sure I didn’t have anything to drink with breakfast,” Phoenix accepted. “Did you Edgeworth?”
“No. Could I trouble you for a cup as well?” Edgeworth asked politely.
“Sure. It’ll be done in a second. Have a seat please,” Maya said pointing to a hard wooden chair, turning her back to the men in the room. Just as she was about to exit the room she heard a low, sharp, pained intake of breath. She turned around and realized that it came from the prosecutor. Standing there she was trying to understand what Edgeworth could have done to hurt himself and one thing stuck out in her mind. “Phoenix could you give me a hand?”
“Sure Maya,” Phoenix answered getting up from his seat. Once they were out of range of the other two men Maya wanted the truth from Phoenix.
“I saw Edgeworth just now. It seems like he hurt himself,” Maya assessed. “He seemed to be in mild pain when he sat down. Did something happen?”
“I don’t know maybe he pulled a muscle,” Phoenix answered playing dumb. “Maybe he was doing some strenuous physical activity.”
“That’s exactly what I think happened but I don’t think that you are telling me everything Nick,” Maya stated. “I think you know exactly how Edgeworth hurt himself.”
“I have no idea how M–Edgeworth hurt himself,” Phoenix contested hoping that Maya wouldn’t pick up on his small slip of the tongue.
“You really are a terrible liar,” Maya claimed. “You almost referred to Edgeworth using his first name didn’t you. Something happened last night. Am I right?” Knowing Maya wouldn’t let up he took a deep breath and spilled the beans.
“Alright, yes something happened and I think you know exactly what happened,” Phoenix said. “After that earthquake yesterday I rushed over to comfort Edgeworth and well one thing led to another and we ended up...”
“Having sex? Fucking each other’s brains out?” Maya finished for Phoenix noting his inability to finish his sentence.
“Yeah.” Phoenix confirmed hanging his head in defeat seeming rather forlorn.
“What’s the big deal? Why are you so upset?” Maya asked genuinely confused. “I think it’s great.”
“What?” Phoenix asked floored.
“Yeah you finally found someone who cares for you and is a perfect match for you,” Maya explained. “I’m really glad to hear that this was what happened. But don’t you think we should let Gumshoe know? He will never figure it out for himself.”
“I guess but first lets get this coffee made,” Phoenix said. They finished up quickly and made their way back to the other two. When they returned Edgeworth immediately noticed the poor way that Phoenix carried himself and the slight red tint that stained his cheeks. It didn’t take Edgeworth too long to figure out that Maya knew.
“You couldn’t keep it in huh?” Edgeworth asked.
“No. I tried but Maya figured it out,” Phoenix explained. Edgeworth let out a big sigh. “I suppose I should let Gumshoe know.
“No need sir,” Gumshoe began. This statement caused the other three to lose their balance for a split–second. “I know what happened. You found...er...an unconventional love in Wright didn’t you?
“How did you figure it out?” Edgeworth inquired.
“I may be pretty dumb, but I realized something was off,” Gumshoe explained. “I noticed your neck was a little red at the edge of your cravat so I figured it was a love bite. I also saw the pain you had suffered you sat.”
“Well the one thing you seem to understand is emotion,” Edgeworth offered.
“So it’s out in the open now huh?” Phoenix mentioned. “I guess it’s for the better but please don’t go around telling people.”
“Yes I wouldn’t want to drag you to court for libel,” Edgeworth said. Causing the other people to burst out laughing.
“You wouldn’t do that,” Phoenix said.
“Of course not,” Edgeworth said. “It’s not worth it and that would only lend it credibility. Well anyway lets go get something to eat.” With that they all left the office.
Phoenix and Edgeworth’s relationship thrived for a few months. They shared a few nights together, they spent their free time with each other, and their feelings grew. Unfortunately one day something terrible happened.
Date:??? Location: Edgeworth’s office
“What the hell?” Phoenix asked grasping a piece of paper. The color disappeared from his face and he could help but read the contents of the letter out loud to himself.
“Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death.”
END. (At least for now).
A/N: And there it is my first fic. Let me know what you think. I can’t believe my plan for a short piece of smut has evolved into this 37 pages 17,000+ word story. And if people review I will gladly write more chapters based on the second, third, maybe even the fourth (would need to be creative but is doable.) I realize some parts might be better than others but this took me two months of on and off writing including writing late at night so please bear with me. So please review. I will only continue if I get reviews. Plot bunnies have reared their ugly heads and are compelling me to write a Detective Conan/Case Closed fic. So last but not least I hope you enjoyed.
Turnabout Thanks
