Simple Comfort
Author’s Notes:
My first real fanfic and first femslash. I plan on writing more and developing more of a plot than what is in the first chapter. I apologize in advance if they seem OOC. I am trying very hard to get into the groove of things.
The first chap takes place at Zelos’ mansion after the visit to the Elemental Research Laboratory where they were told they would be using the EC.

Tossing and turning in her sheets, Raine couldn’t seem to fall asleep and stay that way. Rubbing her eyes, she groaned softly. When she could fall asleep, it would only be for a half-hour at most which would simply lead to more uncomfortable shifting as she tried to get comfortable again. There was no reason for her fears to trouble her already, but despite assuring herself of this fact, she couldn’t clear her mind. It was silent in the room, save the soft breathing of Colette and… The half-elf professor sat up, glancing around the room. Sheena was supposed to be asleep as well. The door was slightly ajar and satisfying her curiosity would be better than dealing with the insomnia, so she silently slid out of bed.
Pushing the door open, Raine glanced up and down the hallway, cocking an eyebrow. Well, she’d already left the room, might as well try to find Sheena before returning to the way she was, worrying about going out to sea. She began wandering around the house, looking for traces of the younger woman when she caught sight of her in the window, staring out at the sky. Letting herself out and walking over, she was noticed rather quickly. “You should be asleep,” she told the summoner, not scolding, before joining her on the ground. Sheena nodded, but didn’t seem to be listening, still focused on her own train of thought. “Are you troubled over making a pact with Volt?”
The former assassin shifted slightly. “No.” She stood up, trying to put on a brave face. Raine looked up, skeptical, eyebrow raised as if she was waiting for the word to be proven. The black-haired woman faltered. “Maybe…”
Encouraging Sheena to sit down again, the healer patted the ground beside her, although the younger woman seemed content to stand, anxious attitude making them both tenser. “We all believe in--”
“You don’t understand!” Sheena cut in, looking particularly weak. There was pain in her eyes before she looked away. She wasn’t one to be comforted, always doing her best to seem brave. Sometimes, she’d desire to be more feminine, simply so she could let her guard down once in a while. Breaking down wasn’t something that she did, but she was feeling close. She sat down beside Raine, but didn’t make eye contact. It wasn’t long before two delicate hands were kneading her tight shoulders and she melted at the simple touches. She released a soft, shaking exhale and her eyes sliding closed. It was such a simple comfort… Before she realized what she was doing, she had turned her head, pressing her lips gently to Raine’s. As soon as she regained her senses, she pulled away awkwardly, a blush coming to her cheeks as she attempted to force out some semblance of an apology.
Sheena stood up, looking around for an escape route, but her wrist was grabbed, stopping any attempts to get away. “Sheena, why did you do that?” The younger woman held her breath, attempting to calm herself and save some embarrassment. There was no good answer aside from impulse and she doubted that answer would suffice for anyone aside from Lloyd. They stood in silence, Raine keeping her grip on the other woman’s wrist while Sheena stared at her feet. The half-elf looked the other woman over for a moment before sighing. “Did it help calm you at all?” She leaned in pressing her lips to Sheena’s, albeit she lacked some of the delicacy the younger woman had exhibited. It was such a strange feeling, but she had enjoyed the kisses. She released the ninja’s wrist as she pulled away.
Sheena’s eyes stayed closed a moment longer. It had felt good and she was left craving more. “Do you mind? …J-just as a comfort!” She caught the older woman smile before her lips were caught again and arms wrapped around her, holding her close, soothing her. She parted her lips, welcoming Raine to invade her mouth and deepen the kiss. She whimpered softly against the professor’s lips, holding onto the woman’s robes tightly as hands explored her figure. The kiss was broken and she tilted her head back, lips slightly parted as she caught her breath, face lightly flushed, eyes half-lit with pleasure.
Raine smiled still, thinking the woman in her arms was beautiful as anything. She trailed gentle kisses down Sheena’s throat while her hands slid inside her robe, groping at the younger woman’s ample breasts. A strangled gasp and she found herself being kissed forcefully, her clothes being pushed off. It was her turn to gasp as hands trailed even lower, one sliding inside her pants.
Moaning as two fingers rubbed at the wetness between her legs, Raine wrapped her arms tighter around Sheena. “Nngh! Oh, Sheena!” She tilted her head back, as she groaned, shivering with pleasure. The touches were so effortless, but she had lost herself already. Suddenly though, it all stopped and she was left, flushed and staring incredulously at Sheena. The summoner looked around, nervously, obviously having heard something. Exhaling sharply, Rain began straightening herself out as she willed her heart to stop racing. “I… Are you feeling any better?”
Sheena wiped her hand off in the grass before she began straightening her clothes as well. “…A bit.” She still looked around suspiciously, half-expecting Zelos to show himself. “We should probably sleep,” she whispered, giving up on looking. “If you get scared tomorrow, I can comfort you.” With that suggestion, she walked away stiffly, leaving Raine standing where she was, blushing, wide-eyed as she tried to recover.
