Otasune Long story
The base was located close to the shore of an island, it was pretty secluded but at the same time it didn’t arise suspicion. People thought of it as some old place where the government wasted time and money with practices for some soldiers. However Hal had been more then positive that there was something here amiss. He had grown to trust the programmer after some time and now he had taken that trust to a whole new level as he had insisted in coming along. He was done clearing an area where they could stay in and establish an information center a few miles from the base itself. “Alright, let’s go over this again… You don’t move from this spot unless you absolutely have to and you tell me about it… That is unless you want me to leave you here on this place.” He told the man.
Otacon looked at him and cleaned his glasses off. "Yeah yeah as usual." He replied putting his glasses back on and running his hand through his grayish brown hair. He started getting the laptop set up and everything else ready. "I won't move from this spot until you tell me I can do so." he said mocking Snake jokingly. "Just don't forget to check in once in a while." he added.
“There’s a codec for that, Otacon” he said, refraining from referring to him by his real name, in case worse comes to worse. He didn’t like the idea of leaving him in a battlefield like that. He preferred the way they managed it that time where there was more then a kilometer of water between Hal and the enemy. That way he would not have to worry about him as he worried about the mission. He then set what he needed and made to go. “I’ll tell you when I’m in” he said, not discarding the idea of checking in completely.
Otacon nodded. "You still want to use the usual frequency?" he asked as he plugged various things in. He didn't feel totally safe but he knew Snake needed him close by for this one. "Is there anything else you need to tell me before you go?" he asked
“Alright, yeah, I’ll use it, but tell me as soon as you think something’s amiss.” He said and left. He made his way quietly through the vegetated areas that surrounded the compound and made it possible for them to do installation there. He eventually made a slip through security just like he had been told he could and gave the insides a good look. Then he tested the frequency. “I’m in”
Otacon typed on his laptop and nodded pulling up a map of the compound. "Awesome. Now turn to your left. Start from there."
He did as told and slid under one of the cars that was making it’s way to the base. He took a lift using a mechanic’s board that he sprayed with w-40. Eventually the driver made it in through that side and he thought everything was going well. He even thought about telling Hal to do this on weekends or some retort like that when he noticed that they where closing the gates where he had entered. “Was that on purpose?” he mumbled to himself.
Otacon watched Snake move through the map on the monitor. "Don't screw this up.." he said to himself.
Effectively he had to tell his partner this piece of information. “Otacon, they locked me in… Just so you don’t drive me to another deathtrap.” He immediately smacked his head mentally. “Since I know you won’t if you know…” No, no way to fix that one.
Otacon crossed his arms. "Who's the one with the map Snake? oh yeah! ME!" he replied. "Since when do i lead you into deathtraps?"
A big red ‘Don’t!’ alert flared in his brain before the word “Tanker” slipped past his lips… However it still did and he regretted it immediately. However he could not take it back now even if Otacon was going to be bitching about it.
Otacon growled lowly. "YOU were the one who decided to confront Ocelot!" he argued before going on a long rant using many big words.
There are many mercenaries and sinners in the word, why did the gods use the magnifying glass on him? “You where the one who didn’t make sure with the information, besides, you didn’t complain when I was in the- Wait a second” he said, ending the conversation and just listening to the way the guards where changing patrol. Why did this all seem familiar? He noticed that the ventilation shafts where openly accessible and he went for that. He used it immediately and for a few moments before he noticed that the door was closed behind him again. “Otacon, that is not a coincidence anymore. Can you look at that”
"What's going on? what are you in?" Otacon asked quickly looking through the maps.
“In a vent shaft they covered it up- oh I see…” he said, with a dreading tone as he let go of the switch but he knew Otacon could still hear everything, he braced himself using the walls of the vent and the large fan started suctioning his way. He hoped he could still talk to Otacon over the loud noise. “They’re using a fan! Do you hear me!? Do they have anyone close?!” Gunshots. ‘Why me, Jesus?’ he thought.
"Snake get out of there now! turn to your right there's an air vent you can kick out escape through there!" Otacon yelled so Snake could hear him seeing some gaurds coming towards Snake.
“I can’t move.” He said, angry at himself since he knew he should be expected to deal with these things better then that. He considered letting go. “What if I let it pull me?” he said considering what the guards would so if he was caught. He’d rather take his chances with the friendly fan. “I’m letting go.” He said, tapping for something he could use.
"What?" Otacon asked not hearing him.
Snake let go and he felt it pull him as he managed to reduce speed little by little. He knew Otacon would understand when he saw him move in the radar. He pulled out his gun and he proceeded to shoot at the fan’s hinges and cables, praying for a clear shot.
Otacon watched the screen. "What the hell is he doing?" he thought to himself
He trespassed the Fan but not before he could make it stop spinning some. Not enough for it not to rattle him and hurt him considerably but enough to make it alive, It spun him as he gripped it firmly with a yell but he made it. However he had no time to breathe before the gunshots where piercing the ventilation as this was a lower and more accessible area. He proceeded to crawl away as quickly as possible. “Where to?” he called trying to stay focused.
"Get to the computer room. it's down the hall and to the right." Otacon said checking the map
“Computers?” he complained as he slipped past security while they where still convinced he was in the shaft. “That should keep them happy.” He said as he looked at the terminals. “I don’t have to touch them, do I?” he said, making a face.
"Well if you want to know where you're going i suggest you do Snake." Otacon said laughing. "I'm sending you the map to where you have to go. That way you can stay more focused."
Snake grumbled something unintelligible and he poked the button to turn the computer on. “What do I have to access?” he asked. He hated doing this as it made him feel less then useful and not as intelligent.
"It should pop up as soon as i finish hacking into their system." otacon replied
“Alright” he said, sitting close to it and waiting patiently. He needed to know how he was getting out of here since it was making him feel very trapped. “As soon as this is done I want wide open spaces.” He told Hal while waiting for the map.
Otacon laughed uploading the map. "You are all about wide open spaces aren't you?"
“Shut up, Otacon, you didn’t see that fan” he said, looking at the map and his lips went dry. “I’m locked in aren’t I?” He said, as soon as he noticed there where no exits that he had not seen locked. He was going to stay here with the rest of the soldiers. “Fine, I’ll work with that” he said, looking at his next target. He immediately started to move to his next task.
"I'll work on finding you a way out Snake just give me time to override the security settings for the exits." Otacon replied.
“Thank God for you, Otacon.” He said, as he was unaware that his partner could do that. He kept on with the mission and he looked at the papers on the desk of the person he suspected. He turned on his personal computer while the lieutenant was taking care of other duties. “Can you see any of that?” he said, trying to find the things that could be in his physical realm.
Otacon nodded. "Yes and it's already copied and saved." he said. "What else is there?"
“Notes of the different passwords, I think you’ll want these.” He said, grabbing them. “He’s obviously not the expert but they seem to have another scientist working for them.” He said, in a teasing tone as he tried to pull a rouse from him. “Maybe they’re replacing you already”
"Oh ha ha very funny!" Otacon replied laughing sarcasticly. "Take photos of those passwords and send them to me."
He took all the pictures Hal wanted off him and he looked at the documentation he was sending. “I’m serious I think they’re replacing you and someone’s studying your project.” He said, dreading what they could do with another Hal. He always assumed there was one Otacon and many who tried. He had not expected them to find someone like that. “Did you get those?”
"Got them." Otacon replied. "And who's on the project?"
“It’s a pretty young team but it’s a team” he said with glee after he saw that they had to take an entire team of scientists to analyze Hal’s work. “One of you is a problem I can imagine a whole pack. This isn’t good.” He said, putting it all back where it belonged and concealing himself. “I’ll be taking my leave. Anything else you want?”
"Yeah take every piece of research from that project." Otacon replied.
Snake nodded and went to do as told but then he heard a strange hissing sound. He looked around himself and there was gas pouring from absolutely everywhere. “I said no deathtraps, Otacon!” he said looking around for the way he came. It was too thin to rely on.
Otacon blinked. "Put the mask on and don't breath it in!" he ordered
“Everything is going so smooth isn’t it?” he said sarcastically as he pulled the mask on himself. However he eventually felt a burn on his shoulder and pulled himself through where he came in from. “I’m… going to sleep in this vent…” he slurred.
"Snake! Don't fall asleep!" Otacon shouted on purpose
“Mmm… Do me good…” he said trying to say ‘It’ll do me good’ but just gripping onto the metal wile the guards inspected the area. “I’ll have to be here for… while…” he was giving in.
"Snake you fall asleep and you are a sitting duck in there don't fall asleep!" Otacon replied trying to keep him awake
“What exit?” he mumbled before he could not take it anymore and with the guards searching for him he dragged himself up and further in the vent where another fan’s faint breeze touched him but didn’t pull him. He then accommodated on his back and closed his eyes.
Otacon typed something into the computer and a small door opened next to Snake. "Through there. That should get you out of that maze."
Snake was already asleep where he was. He had tried to wait the drug out but it took hold of him. He just breathed there, eyes closed, as if a heard of guards where not deciding if they should turn up the fans or let poison flood the ventilation as if he was some rat.
"Snake?! Snake?! answer me!!" Otacon shouted
He was tempted to take the codec off. He really was. “What do you need?” he asked between sleep and awareness that his back was in an uncomfortable position. He felt the air get more breezy and eventually started to feel himself slide slowly. He took that as his cue that he could not wait the drug off but he was so tired.
"Snake take the way i've told you or so help me i will go in and get you out myself!" Otacon said
“You will do no such thing.” He said, trying to pull himself to a more jamming position against the annoying fan. He eventually found a way to let the air filter around him and was not being pulled. “They expect me dead, let me sleep.” He pleaded as he knew he’d rather sleep here then under a car.
"Snake if you breathed in that gas you may never wake up!" Otacon said
“What gas?” he said, adrenaline making him a little more aware at the news. He pulled himself out of the vent and grinned when he noticed that nobody would be looking for him at this are. He eventually made his way into the back of a van instead, his head lolling in sleepiness as he let it take him out of there.
"Nevermind i'll see you when you get back here." Otacon said signing off. He sighed and shook his head before looking through evverything Snake collected
He managed to get to his destination and as soon as he touched the soil the first thing he did was flop close to the tech and ask “Is it useful, tell me it’s useful, they use the big needles.” He said, as if it had just been a trip to the lab to get a blood sample done.
Otacon smiled and shook his head helping Snake to his feet. "You did good just lay down now."
Snake noticed Hal had set up a pretty decent base here and he was immensely grateful when he was able to lie down in a more comfortable place then the air shaft. He was asleep almost immediately.
Otacon covered him with the blanket and let him sleep.
Eventually he found it in him to get up efficiently. He knew by personal experience that they could not have used a tranquilizer on him that could have worked too well and knew it must have been a few hours at most. He looked around and noticed Hal was there, still doing that thing he could not decipher.
Otacon stirred his tea with his spoon and took a sip as he read through the papers
“So what are they making?” he asked while looking up from where he was and eventually stretching up. “We have to leave eventually. I was guessing staying close until we saw what next needed to be done.”
"They're researching a new type of metal gear similar to the Ray but with uranium powered weapons." Otacon replied
“Oh yeah… Because that’s just what I wrote Santa I wanted” he said, finding some humor in mankind’s bitter fate. “Any idea where they may be making that?” he said, hoping the location was there with the profile of the project.
"Somewhere on a deserted island." Otacon replied stretching.
“Alright. Tell me when and I’ll give a few calls, I think I have someone that may be willing to help me. However she’s a little senile and I’m a little afraid of her… Nothing you’ve seen before.” He described his contact.
Otacon laughed. "Ok I’m not seeing it yet but I’ll tell you once I do."
Snake found himself bored and walked behind Hal to see what he was doing. He eventually caught a few words. He was alternating from the subject of ‘nuclear destruction’ and the subject of a guy named ‘Sam’ and his tragic past. “Which one’s about anime?” he asked.
Otacon looked up at him and raised an eyebrow.
“Which of the things you are reading in the computer is about anime?” he said, leaning over the terminal to poke it. He decided he was going to need to stand outside if he was going to want to probe around.
"Snake I'm looking at what you gave me." Otacon replied confused.
“Fine I’ll walk around” he said, leaving him to do what he needed. That being have a smoke and try to look more into the environment they were in. They needed to leave eventually and get to wherever this new thing was situated. Had they finished it?
Otacon sighed and stood up, stretching. He went out to where Snake was and looked at him. "Are you alright..?"
“Yeah, I was wondering if there was a chance that they had not finished that project yet. We can’t keep following live one, there has to be a way to set them back in research-” he stopped himself before he insulted science too much in front of the engineer.
"Well you did take everything right?" Otacon asked
“Right. I think I did.” He said, making his way to where Otacon was. He looked at him for a moment. “You’re not too tired are you?”
"No why?" Otacon asked
“No reason.” He said, moving to wait again.
"Oh..Ok." Otacon replied. "You hungry?"
“No. I need to move, this is far too stoic.” He was just looking out at the wide spaces glad he was out of the dusty vent for one. “What gas did you mean back there” he asked, as Hal had not answered that question.
"The one that was making you tired." Otacon said. "I mistook it for a poisonous gas…" he said kind of mad at himself for making a stupid mistake
“You mean I could have slept there?” he asked faking indignation. He then went to sit close to the terminal. “So when do we leave?” He said, not in a hurry to meet his nice buddy.
"Whenever you want to." Otacon replied
“I’ll help you out, the sooner the better.” He said, alternating from the desire to leave this place and the worry that he’d hear of a nuclear strike soon. “I just hope these guys don’t gossip too much.” He said, as he knew the enemy must suspect.
"I do too." Otacon replied shutting everything down.
Snake took everything that looked remotely from heaviest to lighter to prepare it to leave. Eventually he helped load a vehicle he had managed in the island they were in. It was divided into cities and he had thought about going to the one close to the airport and staying there. “I think we can stay close to the airport and we could use it to go to the next island.”
"Good idea." Otacon said helping him load the vehicle
“I get a few every now and then” he said, sitting in the driver seat once he was there, only to realize he had to look at the map. He got a general idea and started the vehicle hoping not to get too horribly lost.
Otacon was in the passenger seat looking around as Snake drove
“You’ve been quiet.” He said, as he knew that if he shut his mouth what could follow was a silence that could stretch for hours if Otacon didn’t say something. He eventually made it to the city in question. It was a very populated area.
"I have....?" Otacon replied pretending not to notice
“Yeah, are you sleepy or hungry or something like that?” he said, wondering if Otacon could reach the back and pull something edible from there, in any case he could stretch the seat and sleep there.
Otacon shook his head. "No I’m alright."
“There we are” he said, looking at their next destination. It was a rent but it was quiet and private. Excellent to make a contact and do Intel work. He eventually pulled everything to a stop and started to pull the things from the vehicle. “I need your help.”
Otacon nodded and helped him get things inside
And there he was, being quiet again, why? He thought as he talked to the person in charge and used a current account for the place so that there were not many questions asked. He moved into the place and helped Otacon get things set here as well. “It has internet here” he said, as if it were a piece of juicy steak, seeing how much the man said he liked it.
"That's nice...” Otacon replied sitting in one of the chairs.
“Something’s wrong and I’m not going to play a guessing game with you” he said firmly as he was starting to get worried. “What is it?”
"Snake I’m alright." Otacon said holding up his hand.
“Alright I believe you. Must be the drug.” He concluded before flopping down and pretending to watch TV as he mentally recited how he’d get his contact to help him through the phone.
Otacon watched him and shrugged a little. He got up and went to make some more tea.
Snake was looking at the machine for a while wondering about the development of science and decided it was time to get up when he stared comparing the TV with the bad intentions they where combating. None of this he told to Otacon as he knew firsthand how the techie wouldn’t like it. He then picked up the phone.
"Do you want something while I’m up?" Otacon asked as he made the tea
“You mean you sleep?” he joked, faking surprise and then he shook his head while raising his hand to show he was talking on the phone. “Tea…” he said, covering it for a moment “That tea thing you make.”
Otacon nodded and got him a cup. Once the water was finished he made the tea. He brought Snake his mug and took his own back to the couch
Parts of the phone call looked normal at first, until he started cursing at the phone and taking more quickly and insulting. Then he finished with a “-Do you hear me, you twat?!… Yeah… You’re fabulous too… Love you, bye” He was glad it was over and relaxed with his tea. “Thanks for the tea… We have a ride!”
Otacon sipped his tea with his eyes closed. "That’s nice. Who?" he asked
“Ah… Nah, old friend, long story, you don’t want to know.” He said, waving his hand. “You won’t have to put up with her.”
"Put up with her?" Otacon replied gripping his mug a little tighter
“She’s an ex… sometimes…” he said with a knowing smile then took a sip. He wasn’t a fan of tea but Otacon sure could make it.
Otacon nodded and stood up, taking his tea cup to the kitchen.
“At least you won’t be stuck here for too long” he said, noticing the otaku silent again. He had a feeling the scientist was going to lock himself in his machine.
Otacon sighed and walked back out. He sat on the couch and relaxed
“Hal what’s wrong? I thought you’d want to leave.” He said wondering if it had something to do with the weather.
Otacon looked over at him. "I do… It’s just I don't wish to right now."
“Ah. Well you’re lucky; we’re not leaving right now.” He said. “I still need to shower, stupid vents…” he said. “Next time, remind me not to touch a vent.”
Otacon nodded. "alright." he said laughing a little
He then finished his tea and went to take the empty container to the kitchen before going to shower. There was nothing better at any point of the week.
Otacon stretched and sighed.
Snake was trying to scrub the grub off him and saw where the dart hit him. He frowned at the mark, it was clear and it was right there with the bruises and burns from the fan. He was not touching a vent again.
Otacon went into his bedroom and started getting his dirty clothes off. He put them over his computer chair to remember to wash them. He slipped a long baggy t-shirt on as well as some pajama pants.
He eventually dried up and wrapped in a towel to see if he had a decent pair of shorts to sleep in, he would not be caught sleeping with an intrusive top, partner or not.
Otacon was sitting on the couch watching tv
Eventually he found the shorts and he made to sit in front of the TV with him. “What are you watching?”
"Animal Planet." Otacon replied taking a drink of his ramune.
“Ah, alright, I’m going to sleep something, do you need anything else before I snooze? We’re probably leaving tomorrow.” He said, noticing that Otacon /would/ have to put up with her.
"I'm alright.." Otacon said.
Snake got up and went to snooze. He didn’t think today would be one of those days and within a few moments he was caught in a nightmare.
Otacon had fallen asleep on the couch clutching his half eaten box of pocky and ramune bottle.
Snake got up like clockwork at an hour and proceeded to burn what was left of his sleepiness in routine exercises. He wasn’t fully awake until he was aware that his muscles needed his help.
Otacon rolled off of the couch as he slept, landing on the floor with a loud bang. He kept sleeping, however.
Snake heard the sound and he got up and went to him. When he found him on the floor he wondered how Otacon could do it. He made to pick him up and put him on the couch again. It was the right thing to do… right?
Otacon groaned a little and opened his eyes when Snake started picking him up. "...mmmn...." his head was killing him from when it hit the coffee table after he fell.
“You’re asleep” he declared, placing him on the couch, he had honestly hoped Otacon did not notice that. He then placed a hand on his forehead and touched around the cranium, wondering how he’d proceed if it was a real injury.
Otacon closed his eyes and gave a slight nod.
“Is there anything?” he asked, putting pressure in some points to check on him. “No pain?”
Otacon hissed in pain and smacked him. "That hurt!" he growled sitting up and rubbing his head
“Easy, let me look at it” he said in concern, trying to take a look at the possible wound and formulating a prognosis in his mind.
Otacon blushed slightly and let Snake take a look at him
No man should be allowed to blush like that. He just concentrated in the methodology of this and when he saw it was not a serious injury he tried to nudge him off the couch. “I’d rather you not fall asleep again today.”
"Why not..?" Otacon asked with a slight whine since he was still tired
“Why do you pick the opportune moment to end my emotional peace?” he said, with a little pull. “Because it worries me, now get up”
Otacon stood up shakily and tried getting his eyes to focus.
Snake ended up giving him his glasses and looking at his eyes to see that it was the eyesight and nothing more dangerous.
Otacon blinked and looked at him. "T..Thanks.."
“Alright, I think we should eat something and get everything going, we’re leaving in the afternoon, crazy woman shouted at me” he excused himself.
Otacon nodded. "I'm sorry if I made you angry.." he said softly
“What?” He thought deeply, when had Otacon made him angry? Honestly angry, not amused him, not annoyed him… nothing of that… “Hal, what are you talking about?”
Otacon shrugged and looked away slightly
“Hal, I need you to tell me what’s going on, I can’t have you going quiet on me like this, I can’t, we’re not going anywhere” he tried, almost there with giving up.
Otacon sighed. "I...I can't...” he said shaking his head
“Alright, I’ll leave you the hell alone, but I know this will explode and in something ugly.” He tried to warn.
"It's not like that ok?!" Otacon retorted before storming to his bedroom.
Snake stood there looking at the room and then at the place where Hal had been completely lost. “Like it did now!” he called after him. There, he had warned him. He could only hope this didn’t get any worse.
Otacon sighed and sat on the bed. He hugged his knees to his chest and hid his face.
Snake stood there in front of the room. “Hal, calm down, we can talk about this, we’re partners in this, aren’t we?”
"You wouldn't understand!" Otacon replied although slightly muffled due to the door
“I did last time, well, somewhat… I think I did… I could try!” he said, a little aware that Otacon was right.
Otacon wiped his eyes and stood up. He walked over and stood by the door. "..."
“Are you better?” he asked, then cursed mentally. If he was not told what was wrong, how was he going to understand!? “What’s this all about?” he asked, making like he was going to stand and listen.
Otacon debated in his mind on whether or not to tell him how he felt. "I...IthinkIlikeyou.." he said quickly, barely understandable.
Snake blinked for a moment and stared. He wondered what the chances of that where and he looked away. He knew he could not allow himself; he was not supposed to put himself above Otacon like that.
Otacon sat on the floor with his back against it. "I’m so stupid.." he said to himself quietly
“I can’t let you do that to yourself.” He corrected him. “That can’t be good for you and you know it”
"What can't be..?" Otacon replied hugging his knees to his chest
“I can’t be good for your health, Hal” he said, trying to sound convincing.
"What liking you?" Otacon blurted out covering his mouth, blushing deeply as he leaned against the door.
“No, marrying my grandmother, of course it’s liking me!” he said, a little angry at the fact that he had to push him away after he cared about him so much. He could comfortably pull his liver out if it meant Otacon needed it, however, Otacon needed him to push him away right now… Or Snake thought.
Otacon sighed and rested his chin on his knees. "I see..." he replied softly
“Relax, is this what this was about?” he said, trying to force himself to quit his own bitching, Otacon had a right to bitch, since he had many concerns of his own.
Otacon stood up and opened the door a crack. "A little..."
“A little?” he stayed there looking at him, as if telling him that he needed to know what was happening. Snake was not about to give up his determined course of action.
"That and I’ve been getting less and less sleep lately." Otacon replied
“Then sleep more” he said, as if it where the most simple equation. It was, you where tired, you slept. “You have to stop staying awake so late.
"I stay up because I can't sleep." Otacon replied
“Why can’t you sleep?” He asked with a sigh, he didn’t like the way Otacon took his own worries out on himself.
"I couldn't sleep because i was worried you'd hate me for liking you in that way.." Otacon said looking down
“I don’t hate you. Hell I can’t hate you” he could live without telling Otacon why, right?
"T...then why didn't you respond to it...?" Otacon asked, his voice cracking a little
“Because I can’t” Oops that was a little too far. Snake was not someone to be discovered easily, but Otacon sent a message to his brain of safety that lowered his defenses so.
Otacon's eyes widened for a split second before he slammed the door shut.
“Hey, damn it!” He said shutting his eyes in frustration. “Hal, come on, I don’t hate you, what did I do now?!” He said, knocking on the door. “Hal?”
Otacon was huddled on the bed in a ball under the blankets crying softly. "Y...You're so insensitive!!"
“Well, /I/ could have told you that!” he retorted, then he flinched, probably not the best thing to do, why did Otacon have to be so /overly/ sensitive?! Then again, Snake would not change his friend for anything. “Otacon, seriously, don’t do this!”
"I'm not doing anything, YOU'RE the one doing it!" Otacon sobbed
“Doing what!?” this was getting to his nerves, was it too much to ask not to be told he was doing something wrong so ambiguously?
"It took a lot for me to tell you that and all you can do is shrug it off!" Otacon rambled
“I am not shrugging it off! I am trying to do what I think is the best course of action for the team! You’ll understand when you grow up!” He rambled right back.
"I'm more grown up than you!" otacon yelled back
“Fine, be that way!” he said and pushed on the door, if it was locked he was going to break in.
Otacon didn't lock the door he just stayed under the covers and grumbled angrily to himself
Snake went to him and pulled on the covers to make him stir. “You need to think of your own self preservation, Otacon I can’t do that for you!”
Otacon looked at him. "I don't care about myself I live to make sure you are alright and it's all I do!"
“That’s the problem” he said, calmly sitting on the bed now that Hal was willing to talk. “I can’t have you doing that and if you where to get involved with me you would. That’s the only reason. If it were otherwise… but that’s obvious.”
Otacon looked at him. "I...I..." he stammered starting to get a panic attack.
Snake placed his hands on Hal’s shoulders, the scientist’s panic transferring to him. “Hal! Breathe, buddy, breathe…” He said, trying to sound calm.
Otacon trembled and tried to calm his breathing.
Snake said nothing, he simply tried steadying him. He felt like Hal could break under his fingers for a moment, as he was like butter for these things. “I tell you, your lungs are begging for pushups.” He insisted.
"...w...wha...What....?" Otacon stammered still semi hyperventilating
“Nevermind, just try to relax.” He said, waiting for Otacon to steady his breathing.
Otacon's breathing slowed a little yet he was still trembling.
“Are you better?” he asked, showing a side of concern towards his partner.
Otacon nodded slowly. "I...I...think so..."
“Alright.” He said, remaining silent, less he did something that could hurt the man.
Otacon looked down. "..."
“I guess I’ll go before I end up doing something to you that you might find… I’ll just give you some space, but try to get some sleep.”
Otacon looked up at him. "You’re mad aren't you..?"
“Not a chance” he said, well, not at what Otacon probably thought, but he was going to start monitoring Hal during the night to make sure he slept properly.
Otacon smiled a little. he laid back down on the bed
Snake went to get the things ready for the trip himself as he’d rather had Otacon rest in all of this then have him neglect his body… well more than usual.
Otacon soon fell asleep
Snake was done with everything in a little while and soon allowed himself to sit next to Hal, he did this silently as a killer and eventually let his hand trace Otacon’s frame.
Otacon was sleeping soundly making little noises in his sleep
