The Legends of Zelda: Tale of the Hero
Chapter One: The Stranger

A chill wind blew throughthe room, making heads turn towards the man who
had entered the inn. The man posed a grizzly figure; he appeared at least six feet tall even
without the large, ragged cloak. Nothing could be seen of his face which was covered in the
shadow cast by his wide-brimmed hat. Even more worn and unkempt was his hair, the color
of ash it fell down around his shoulders. A light snow peppered his body, increasing the
mistique as he showed no sign of the biting cold. By now all inhibitions were lost as each
and every eye followed him on his way to the bar. The only sound to be heard were his
footsteps as his boots came down upon the hardwood floor. As he reached the counter
the silence was finally broken when the innkeeper called.
"Hello Stranger. Welcome to the Talking Stones Inn." The spell that had hung
over the room lifted with these words, and the people went back to their buisness. "So what
can I do for you?"
"I would Like to rent a room and stable from you for a few days." the man
replied, his hoarse voice was the only other aparent effect the weather had had on him "And
I would be very grateful for a glass of tea please. This should cover it all." he handed him a
small pouch filled with rupees. He turned his back on the stunned man and made for a chair
by the fireplace. He removed his cloak revealing an equally tattered faded green tunic, placed
it on the arm of the chair, and sat down. He removed his hat revealing more of the ash colored
hair and something no one had expected. He smiled slightly at the now familliar shocked gasps
that had exploded from the people who "weren't" paying any attention to him. He had known
what to expect from these people, it happened every time he reveales his face in public. For
the most part his face was fine, some would even dare to call him handsom, for the most part.
On the upper-right side of his face were hideous burn scars. They weren't just any type of burn
scars though. That type of scar could only be obtained by getting hit with some sort of dark
magic. The tissue around his useless eye would never heal. There would always be that angry
red welt contrasting the milky-whiteness of the eye.
What did suprise him however, was when a young boy, his little sister in tow,
walked up to him and with the bluntness of innocence said, "Hey Mister! You have a funny face."
The room itself seemed to be holding it's breath, waiting for what was to come next. There was
an audiable sigh of relief as the stranger began to laugh.
"I guess your right my boy. I do have a funny looking face!" his voice was still
hoarse, but was now shaking with merriment.
"Marcus! Leave that poor man alone." a voice called. The voice belonged to a
woman who was walking towards him.
"It's alright mam. He isn't harming nothing." the man said good heartedly. She set the
tray down on the table next to the chair and began the introductions.
"I am Tala Orenell, this is my daughter Voilet, Marcus you've already met, and my
husband Alek is the innkeeper here. Who might you be?"
" My name is Adlez Sevol Knil, mam." he replied "Is that my tea?" he asked, indicating
the tray.
"Yes, it is." she answered
"Good!" he said as he produced yet another pouch. He reached in and pulled out some
sort of white powder which he stirred into his tea. "Hhhmmmmm. That's better." he sighed after
taking a sip of tea. All traces of hoarsness had vanished completely. Leaving only a rich baritone
sound which penetrated through the chatter and brought silence upon the crowd again. Draining
the rest of his tea, he turned to the children with a gleam in his eye. "Who wants to hear a story?"
As the children squealed with delight, he looked at their mother who nodded her aproval and
went back to serving the guests. "I must assume that you two have heard of the Hero of Time
who fought against the Evil King Ganondorf." they nodded, "Also that you have heard of his further
deeds in freeing the land of Termina from the clutches of Majora's mask." they nodded again, " Well
I'm going to tell you about the return of the Hero to his beloved Hyrule after ten years of daring
deeds and of what awaited him there." With that the man Known as Adlez Sevol Knil began to tell
the story.
