Lloyd's Errand

Chapter 9
Lloyd’s Errand
(vanilla)

The brown-haired boy strode determinedly through the streets of Triet, looking for a particular tent by the shore of the desert lake. There it was, at the end of the street, a large brown thing with an eye disconcertingly painted onto the entrance. He found its occupant behind her table.

The fortune teller looked up at Lloyd’s arrival. “Ah, the swordsman. I was wondering when you’d show up. Do come in,” she welcomed.

He tossed a bag of Gald onto the table. Her eyebrow arched. “I…I need to know…” Lloyd said slowly. “I need to know if this is right.”

“Your heart has already decided, boy,” she said slyly. “But if you insist…” Her hands waved over her crystal ball. A triangle of light appeared, a glowing golden line spinning in the cobalt orb. “The delicate flower has bloomed. The roughness has been smoothed away. They cling to one another, and to the pillar of strength that brought them together. The road is still long and treacherous, but if the Three become as One the Ancient Clouds yet might clear. You will know laughter and tears, Lloyd Irving. Treasure them both.”

The boy slowly nodded. Not that he really understood anything, but it seemed mostly positive. And it certainly sounded impressive. “Thank you.”

“Oh no, boy, thank YOU,” she said, as he turned to go. “Oh, and have fun tonight!”

A/N: just a little drabble. I do so love teasing my audience!
