Hal's pet snake
A/N: This chapter is more like a bridge between one and the other. Observe how this was written in 2007 thus, we had no idea what Sunny was REALLY like. So we made her playful and such. Here she's obviously messing with them, child and all. (very young child)
Hal blushed and smiled "I'm glad then." he giggled.
Snake was very surprised at how time had moved when he had been joking around with this. Eventually he went back to the chair and sat there vertically to get some rest. The kid laughed at the way he lay down, completely stretched. But she made no further comment. Just took the opportunity to sneak outside to look at the sand and beach.
Hal followed her. "Sunny wait up." he said. He took her hand and walked outside. "Did you want to play on the beach?" he asked smiling.
“I wanted to look around.” She said doing just that, happy to have Hal’s attention so she could show him too.
Hal smiled and walked with her. "So do you like it here?" he asked looking at the ocean
“I don’t mind, it’s just my things where back in the apartment” she said, as if she where going back there sometime soon. She then yawned and looked at the pretty moon as it reflected in the water.
Hal nodded. "..You know you remind me of my little sister when she was little..." he said speaking of Emma which he hardly ever did.
“Then you can invite her over to the apartment and I can lend her my things!” she cheered, imagining Hal’s sister to be about her age if Hal compared her to Sunny. She then turned to go back inside to possibly go play with Hal’s pet some more.
Hal stood outside and watched her go in. He sighed and turned back towards the ocean. "..."
“No, not that!” was spoken firmly and with a lot of temperament from behind the door. Snake all but ripped the Bandanna from the girl’s hand as she apologized. “You can have the – no, don’t cry, I’m not going to eat you, shit” he said, now forgetting about the piece of cloth and just sitting on the floor patting her head like a scared rabbit.
Hal blinked and hurried inside. He knelt down beside Sunny and looked up at Snake. "Oh can't she play with it for a little bit till we get her some toys?" he asked
“My Bandanna?! Are you serious!?” he asked as Sunny tried to sign Hal into not make Snake any more angry. She looked pretty scared too. However Snake looked at the way she was trying to go to Hal for protection and he sighed. “You’re serious.” He muttered and untied it with a pain in his chest before handing it over. It sort of felt like throwing it into an open flame.
Hal took it and gave it to Sunny. "Be careful with that now." he said gently.
She nodded and moved it around watching how it whooshed and agitated in the wind when she did that. Snake raised a brow and how easily pleased she was. He thought she’d tie things up with it. He then pulled his M9 while looking at her purposefully and approaching her.
Hal grabbed Snake's pant leg as he sat next to Sunny. he stood up and stood in front of Snake. "Don't worry your precious Bandanna will be fine." he said kissing his cheek and going over to the couch.
Why did he succeed in making Snake feel guilty? Still he went to Sunny and poked her on the shoulder to get her attention. Then smiled at her and took the silencer off the tranquilizer and juggled it in his hand. It was louder then the Bandanna and faster, plus flashy and in no time she was interested in it.
Hal stood up quickly and went over to him. "Snake you can't let her play with that!" he said snatching the M9 away. He had to sit down again afterward since he felt slightly lightheaded.
“Why?” He asked looking at Hal and considering seriously… Well he wasn’t going to hurt anyone and it had no clip… he thought pulling the revolver and doing it even faster as the gun allowed for better maneuver. The girl giggled at the way Snake ignored Hal like that, as it was very amusing to her. Snake then stopped before he got into troubled and checked the bullets, he clicked the gun to the floor once to convince himself and Hal that it was empty and then he placed it in her hand. “You pivot it over itself like that, see?” he said.
Hal watched Sunny protectively. "Snake please..." he pleaded not wanting her to hurt herself.
Snake was smiling at her the entire time. “It has no bullets in it, noting can possibly go wrong.” That is until her finger got pinched by the trigger and she didn’t like it. She gave it back with an expression that said she didn’t like it and she went back to making the Bandanna fly around. Snake looked at Hal for a moment, while putting the revolver away. “Are you supposed to hypnotize her to sleep or am I never going to rest?”
Hal looked at Sunny. "How about a nap Sunny?" he asked going to pick her up.
She tied the Bandanna around her head playfully and Snake sighed trying not to feel like he was shit six times in the soul. However she went with Hal with that expression children had when they knew they where doing everything right.
Hal picked her up and took her to the bedroom. he set her on the bed and got her under the covers.
Snake had to admire the expertise, maybe you pick that up after having a sister like E.E. He noticed Sunny eventually stopped making noise and decided he could stretch again and get some rest. However, seeing as his beloved pilot was probably flying asleep by this hour or some idiocy like that he rather got up and waited for Hal to leave the safety of Sunny presence while hiding in the shadows.
Hal got Sunny to sleep and gently took the Bandanna off of her head. He walked back out into the living room
Snake saw him com into the perimeter and sneaked behind him pressing the empty revolver behind his back. “Freeze” he breathed to the man’s ear. “Hands where I can see them”
Hal blinked and put his hands up. "Snake..? What are you doing?"
“Interrogating you. Now speak” he said, pushing Hal to a wall so he could lean his hands there and nudged his legs so he could spread them, thus facilitating Snake the cavity search.
"Interrogate me?" Hal giggled softly.
“I’m the one asking the questions here, buddy, now what’s this about me being your pet, answer me.” He said, pressing behind the man as to distract him. It was more then fair since these where the easy questions.
"It was a joke, Snake...I was trying to help Sunny warm up to you.." Hal said afraid he had made the other man angry
“That’s disappointing, here I recall that pythons tend to seek body heat from their owners.” He said, grinding against Hal to prove his point. “Are you sure it was a joke?”
Hal blushed and looked back at him. "You… You're not angry..?"
“She walked up to me in my sleep, grabbed my Bandanna from my head, tied it around her own and played with my revolver. If that didn’t honestly bother me much then you calling me your snake is a complement. Besides you hadn’t called me ‘your’ anything before” he said, reminding Hal about the fact that he’d let out a lot of messages he probably didn’t want known.
Hal turned to him and held out the Bandanna. "I rescued it for you." he smiled.
“My baby” he joked holding the cloth for a moment then looking at Hal then at the door he’d just come from. He placed his hands on Hal’s to press them to the wall. “Don’t move.” He warned and proceeded to tie the Bandanna like a gag around Hal’s mouth. “Night’s cold and all, sure you understand, no?”
Hal looked at him confused and blinked a little.
Snake grinned and started to undo Hal’s pants to prove his point. The fact that they could get caught doing this was making it even harder to resist. Not that he could resist Hal spread out to him as vulnerable as this to begin with.
Hal blushed and smiled "I'm glad then." he giggled.
