Chapter 8: The Hunt Begins

Dozkai wakes in his bunk and starts his routine of checking the death and drop out report from yesterdays tests.

" hmm down to 26 hopefuls....should be finishing up soon" he says to himself

A few minutes later his console chimes that there is a new message just before it starts to play automatically 

" to our "best and brightest" as a perk of your station you get a small warning....tomorrows trail will be the last and only one hopeful will go on to join the academy.

you have 24 hours to prepare for an outing into the jungle" says a small holo of the administrator.

Dozkai grabs his pack and digs out the data chip with Orona's com frequency and sends a list of the five biggest treats still in the trails.

" Target priority 1. Tenala twi'leck high intelect and skilled in ranged combat. priority 2 Frax devironian strong in the force but prefers to manipulate weaker people expect a small group.  priority 3 Tormax human strong but stupid.  priority 4 Jureu bith uses the force to warp senses. priority 5 Kila cathar stealthy and a skilled in close combat " he finishes the list and sends it.

Minutes later Orona replies " we'll take them all 1000 a head. deal?..." 

" Done " Dozkai replies 

The next morning Dozkai is up and armed before the Keeper call for the hopefuls to gather in the main chamber 

" Hopefuls the time has come for the trails to end...you will each be air dropped into the jungle in random areas..last hopeful alive will go on to the academy.... you have five minutes to gear up and be on the landing pad." the Keeper turns and heads to the landing pad followed by Dozkai and the other two top hopefuls 

" so it come down to a free for all huh? " Frax says trying to start a conversation Dozkai and Tenala ignore him Five minutes pass and only 13 hopefuls have reported in 

" Captain start the purge of MY compound " the keeper instructs the trooper near the door to the landing pad

The trooper salutes and seals the door seconds later blaster fire and screams echo up from below 

" As i said only one of you will live to see the end of the trials " the keeper says with a wicked grin 

The hopefuls load into the shuttle some eager to kill others afraid of what is to come. Every few minutes a trooper would open the hatch and pick out a hopeful to jump as the shuttle circled around the jungle soon enough it was Dozkai's turn to jump. He crashes through trees and lands hard. groaning he stands and check his gear before he heads into the jungle to hunt his fellow hopefuls.
