The Brothers
Chapter Eight: The Brothers
Riku sighed softly, setting a plate in front of his brown haired lover before he bent over to press a kiss to the teen's forehead, "One peanut butte and banana sandwich with bologna." He said, pushing the sandwich towards the brunet, "Enjoy."
Sephiroth blinked, looking over the top of his newspaper, "Cravings already, Sora?" He asked, eyeing the teen's choice in sandwiches.
Sora shook his head, unable to verbally answer due to the bite he just took of the sandwich, but Riku answered for him, "No, dad, Sora always eats like that." He remarked, taking the empty seat next to his lover.
"Interesting." Sephiroth replied, returning to his paper, "By the way, Riku, your brothers are on their way over. I took the liberty to call them over to help carry over Sora's things."
The aquamarine eyed teen groaned softly, "Dad! You couldn't have waited for us to leave?" He asked.
The elder Tanaka shook his head, "Nope, I told them you and Sora had something very important to tell them." He replied looking over his paper, his eyes twinkling, "They'd go after you if you tried to run."
"...Jackles..." Riku muttered, cupping his cheek, resting his elbow against the table.
"Speaking of which, I think I just heard Yazoo's car pull in the drive!" Sephiroth said, folding his newspaper.
Riku paled, “Hide Sora!” He shouted, nearly falling out of his chair in his rush to run out the back door. He knew his brother's wouldn't treat them the way Sora's father had (all three were gay as well), but that didn't mean that they wouldn't tease and otherwise annoy Riku to no ends. Which was something he could do without.
Sora jumped at Riku's loud outburst, choking on his latest bite of the chewy sandwich as Riku grabbed his wrist and preceded to drag him out the back door.
But, before either boy could reach the door, Riku's three older brother's entered the kitchen, “Hey Sora!” The eldest, Loz, said cheerfully as he waved at the brunet.
He was followed my the more feminine looking Yazoo, “I hear you and Riku have some news for us?” He asked, moving to block the back door, arms crossed over his chest.
And lastly, the rear was brought up by the smirking Kadaj, “I hear you've come out of the closet to Sora's dad.” He said, not at all subtle, “You've got more balls than I gave you credit for little brother.” He remarked before snickering, “He's one scary mother fu-...uh, dude, your boyfriend's turning pale.”
Sora, who was still gagging on that piece of sandwich he had eaten, was promptly patted on the back by a concerned Loz, “You okay there?” He asked, his pats a little hard, but the short haired boy had trouble realizing his own strength at times.
“He's not okay! I'm not okay! We're not okay!” Riku said, casting his brothers an annoyed glanced before he pushed Loz away from Sora, who had recovered, rubbing his back in soothing circles.
Sora gasped for air for a moment before speaking, since his lover wasn't anywhere near telling them what had happened, “We did come out to my father and he was pissed.” The brunet said, accepting the glass of milk Sephiroth handed him, after he took a sip he continued, “But, that's not all.”
“Oh, there's more!” Kadaj said, a wicked grin flashing over his features, “Do tell!”
Riku was too busy glaring at Kadaj to say anything while his brother stared back with an amused expression on his face.
“Yes...do tell.” Sephiroth chuckled, taking a seat once again, leaning back to watch the whole scene as it unfolded.
“Well...I'm having Riku's baby.” Sora said, glancing at his silver haired lover for support as he tugged the teen closer in preparation for the large outburst that was sure to follow.
Sephiroth did everything within his power not to burst out laughing as he watched his four sons and future son-in law.
Loz's eyes grew so huge, he feared they'd pop out of his eldest son's head as he shouted, “No way!” and the proceed to nearly squish poor Sora in a bear hug.
Riku tried to turn tail and bolt for the door only to have Yazoo grab him by his hair and yank him back as he demanded in a quite forceful tone to know how in the hell something like that was possible.
And Kadaj, ever the childish one, burst out laughing. Clutching his sides as he hung onto a chair so he wouldn't fall to the ground.
Sora laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he was squeezed to death, “Ah, thanks.” He said, pushing himself out of the eldest Tanaka's embrace while his lover was fighting to get out of his hair out of his brother's grasp.
“Let go of my hair!” He snapped, slapping at Yazoo's hands, “That hurts you asshole!”
“Boys, boys, boys.” Sephiroth said, stepping in between his two sons. “This isn't the time for fighting. Word's going to get around fast about Riku and Sora's predicament. They'll need all the support they can get once things get chaotic.”
“Especially when my Mom finds out.” Sora added, nodding slowly in agreement, “She'll be out for blood.”
“Riku's blood, no doubt.” Loz agreed, shouldering his way in between his father and Riku to give his youngest brother a hug, “This is so exciting. I can't believe you're going to have a baby!”
“Which brings us back to: How'd this all happen?” Yazoo asked, crossing his arms over his chest, “I mean I know we can cast magic and all that; but I thought Riku didn't know about that yet.”
“I didn't do it on purpose!” Riku snarled at his brother, tired of his condescending attitude.
Sora nodded, moving to stand beside his lover again, reaching for his hand, “I found this spell book and we decided to have a little fun with it.” He mentioned softly, “I didn't think it'd work though...”
“What spell was it?” Sephiroth asked curiously.
“Something about strengthening love.” Riku sighed softly, squeezing his brunet's hand gently. The small action bringing him and his lover, he hoped, some comfort.
Sora slowly nodded, “Like I said, we didn't think it would work.” He pointed out, “We definitely didn't expect something like this to happen either.”
“You're going to look so cute!” Loz chuckled, leaning around his father to give Sora's flat belly a pat, “And the baby's going to be so adorable!”
“You're going to look more like a girl than you normally do!” Kadaj laughed, leaning against the wall as his laughter slowly died down to soft chuckles.
Yazoo shot his brother a glare before rolling his eyes, “When's the baby due?” He asked, turning back to the expecting couple.
Sora frowned lightly in thought, “Well, the doctor said I was about a month pregnant...soooo, about July...I think.” He said, looking up at Yazoo, “Give or take a month.”
In July, Riku and himself would be parents. The very idea seemed almost surreal. He still had trouble believing it.
“July...” Riku echoed, glad for the support of his father and brother or he may have fallen over, “...maybe we should go to where my Dad grew up. He said they were more open there. What do you think, Sora?”
Sora glanced over a his lover before heaving a sigh, “What about school?” He asked before shaking his head, “And, I can't just leave my family, even after the way they treated us. They're still my parents and they deserve to see their grandchild, even if they can‘t accept it.”
Riku pulled the chocolate haired boy to him, wrapping an arm around him, “Well, I only have half a year left...but, what if you're school doesn't allow you to continue going?”
“I could always home school him, you know.” Yazoo offered, who just so happened to be earning his degree for teaching. He genuinely liked Sora and didn't like the idea of him being ostracized for something as unforeseeable as this.
Sora frowned lightly, “I didn't even think about my school. They don't even allow pregnant teenage girls to go there.” He said softly before looking up at Yazoo, “You'd do that for me?”
“Of course, I would.” Yazoo grinned, ruffling Sora's hair, “You shouldn't have to pay for my brother's stupidity.”
Growling at his brother, Riku knocked his hand away and wrapped his arms around his lover protectively, “Back off, you homo.”
“Like you're one to talk, you homo.” Kadaj laughed, “Though, I'd have to say, Yazoo is the biggest homo out of us.”
“And yet, I‘m not the one who spends his whole paycheck on hair care products.” Yazoo returned with a snort, giving his brother a glare.
“No, that’s Riku.” Loz snickered, holding up his hands in defeat when he saw the glare he received from the said silver haired boy.
The brunet pouted, “Oh, all of you homos just kiss and make up!” He said, sticking out his tongue playfully.
“Ew~! I'm not kissing any of them!” Riku said, making a disgusted face at his brothers, “Besides, the only homo I want to kiss is you!” He replied, grasping either side of the brunet's face before leaning in to plant a solid, possessive kiss on his lover's lips.
Kadaj burst out into laughter again, clutching his snickering older brother, Loz. Yazoo just shook his head, grabbing his father's forgotten newspaper, before plopping into Sora’s vacated dining chair.
Sora grinned lightly against his lover's lips, wrapping his arms around his lover's neck. He was so caught up in the kiss that he didn't even hear the front door open and slam close. So much for knocking, right? Though, if there had been knocking, he might have been able to get out of there before...
“Sora Miyake!” A brown haired woman barked, her blue eyes narrowed in a dangerous glare, “You get your hands off of that filthy boy this instant!”
Riku sighed softly, setting a plate in front of his brown haired lover before he bent over to press a kiss to the teen's forehead, "One peanut butte and banana sandwich with bologna." He said, pushing the sandwich towards the brunet, "Enjoy."
