A Rising Threat, Part 1
The Troll Mountains lingered barely in the background as Viconia and her entourage moved at a rapid pace along the Trade Way. Viconia was in the back of a wagon they had lifted from an unfortunate merchant who had been caught alone on a dark night. Every bump sent her a little into the air, but Viconia never noticed, she was focused completely on the encounter ahead.
While she never would call Kain’s current incarnation a bleeding heart, she still often wondered why he kept Imoen and Saverok around. He had shed every lingering fragment of his past, his name, his home, and his adoptive father‘s memory. Imoen never left his side. Viconia’s mind whirled into a series angry rants only to be pulled back into reality by the wet thunk of an arrow piercing the chest of the priestess sitting next to her.
Brigands in the woods where hailing arrows onto the wagon, Viconia stood up and waved her hands about causing all wood in the area to become limp and soggy. Drawing her weapon, Shar Teel ordered her surviving soldiers into a defensive formation as she threw her ruined shield and bow into a nearby thicket. Vic only shrugged as she and her remaining priestess began to conjure up magic swords to replace the ones whose hilts were ruined by the spell. Soon everyone was wielding a flaming sword and looking mighty fierce in doing so.
Despite this, they were little prepared for what followed as wave after wave of zombies rushed they wagon. The priestess tried her best to keep the undead at bay, but Viconia observed something was out there meddling with attempts to use her holy symbol. Giving up, the priestesses both tossed their symbols aside attempting to use the immense power their god imparted. Waves of fire and showers of ice hit the more congested areas of the battle as Viconia nearly drained herself in keeping the handful of soldiers that remained alive. It was looking very bleak indeed.

Shar Teel burst through the foliage to where it seemed the majority of the zombies were coming from, stooping suddenly at the edge of a clearing. Wagon’s full of corpses were being trucked into a spot where men in dark robes were casting spells. Shar Teel grunted at the idea that this was shaping up to be a little more complicated then a common brigand attack. She slipped along the edge of the clearing to a part of the clearing in which four people were gathered and talking loudly.
The first man wore black like the other spell-casters, but an aura off power washed over him unlike anything coming off the lackeys hovering over the corpses. He spoke in such hushed tones that Shar Teel couldn’t hear.
“Whatcha mean me bows didn’t do der job”, the second and a visibly drunk man said, “ How’re me boys gonna fight with bows limper then a darned noodle. Ye said that I and me bows would be protected from those darned priestess flashy shit”.
The third man, a giant orc really, laughed and slapped the drunk on the back. He then signalled to a group behind them, “ No worries, Ugluk can take girlie down. One condit…conditi…thing, I get her pretty face for a night”. Both men just shrugged and looked at the fourth cowled individual.
She pulled and revealed her pristine dark elven beauty, “ Lolth approves, just promise you both have a good time”.
“Girlie always have fun with Ugluk.”

The undead numbers began to thing only to be replaced by a wave of heavily armoured orcs. The few who remained were chopped down. They began to close in on a tired Viconia. She cast her last to two spells before a club knocked her out.
