The Confession

Chapter Six: The Confession

"Can't we run away?" Riku asked, half joking half not. Because, running away would be so much safer than facing Sora's parents. He knew, in reality, that his lover could never leave his parents. Even if telling his parents about his predicament could potentially bring about nothing but trouble.

Sora sighed heavily as his silver haired boyfriend pulled into his drive way, "You know we can't do that." He replied softly, glancing over at his lover as the boy killed the engine, "We can't run from it."

Riku shook his head as he leaned over the middle console to place a hand over the brunet's abdomen; where his child resided, "I didn't mean from this." He said softly, look up at his beloved brunet, "I won't lie and say I'm not scared. Because, I'm terrified." He continued softly, "But, not of this." He rubbed Sora's abdomen gently, "I'm terrified of that." He finished, nodding towards Sora's house.

The brunet cupped Riku's cheek, his thumb brushing along the skin, "I know, but they deserve to know. It's their grandchild." He replied before sighing, leaning back in the car seat, "This...is the one thing I was sure I'd never have to go through."

“It's not supposed to be possible....” Riku said, pulling the boy into his arms, “But, we'll make it through together.”

Sora laid his head on the silver haired teen's shoulder, wrapping his arms around him, “I wouldn't want it any other way.” He whispered softly.

“I love you.” Riku murmured, his nose buried in Sora's hair as he spoke before pulling away and kissing the boy's forehead before leaning against it, “I think...we should tell my family first.”

Sora slowly nodded, “Yeah, I think that'd be the best course of action.” He agreed, pulling out of Riku's embrace, “But, before we tell anyone I'd love to take a nap.”

Riku chuckled lightly at that, “You're going to milk this for everything it's worth, aren't you?” He asked, looking at his lover fondly before opening his car door.

Sora smiled innocently, “Would you expect anything less?” He replied, smiling at his lover as the sliver haired teen climbed out of the car, closing the door before walking to his side to open the door for him.

Riku held out his hand for the brunet to help him out of the car, “From you, no.” He said, pulling his lover out of the car when his hand was accepted, “But, that's okay because it just gives me another reason to spoil you.”

Sora laughed softly as he was pulled back into Riku's embrace, “Like you already don't do that enough.” He pointed out, leaning into his lover's arms as the silver haired boy pushed the door closed.

“Yeah...but, I got a reason now.” Riku replied, bending down to press a chaste kiss to his lover's lips before pulling away, “Come on, let's get you ready for a nap.”

--- --- ---

“It's alright if you cuddle with me.” Sora said, glancing over his shoulder at his lover before pulling a shirt over his head, “My parents aren't suppose to be home until later tonight.”

Riku slowly nodded, watching his lover, trying to keep the naughty thoughts at bay at least for the time being, “Isn't your Dad suppose to come home during his lunch break to check on you?” He asked as his brown haired boyfriend climbed into his bed.

Sora shook his head as he scooted over, waiting for the silver haired teen to get into bed with him, “Yeah, but the appointment took so long...we missed his lunch break by an hour or so.” He pointed out as he cuddled up to his lover, laying his head on the silver haired teen's chest.

Riku nodded once more, “Yeah, but you never know.” He pointed out, pressing a kiss to his lover's forehead, “You go on and get some rest, I'll be right here when you wake up.”

Sora smiled, “Promise?” He asked, turning his head to glance up at his lover.

Riku chuckled, “I couldn't get out of your death snuggle anyway.” He reminded the other with another kiss on the forehead, “But, that's alright.”

Just as the lovers were settling down for a nap a car was heard pulling into the drive way, “It could be the neighbors...” Sora said, blinking as he glanced up at his boyfriend again.

Riku gave a sigh, “Better check just to be sure...” He said, “Better safe than sorry.” He reminded the other as he got out of bed and walked to the window to glance out it, “Damnit!” He muttered softly, turning to Sora, “It's your Dad.”

Sora gave a soft curse, throwing the covers off of him, “Mom probably made him take the rest of the day off to make sure I was okay.” He said, rolling his eyes as he pushed himself out of bed, “What should we do?”

"Grab some of your things and slip out your window...?" Riku suggested nervously, hopefully, but foolishly. They couldn't do that and he knew it.

"We tried that once." Sora pointed out, giving his lover a flat look, "And I fell and broke my ankle."

"I fixed the lattice work, remember, in case we wanted to do it again?" Riku nodded, feeling the panic build. "Please? Your parents are seriously going to kill me!"

Sora bit his lip. What Riku said was true, his parents really would kill his lover...well, after they accused him of being the Anti-Christ and so on. "I guess we could..." He said slowly, "But, we have to call your dad as soon as we get to your house, okay?"

Riku nodded emphatically, then turned to the window. He had just gotten the locks undone when he was about to open it when he heard a familiar voice call out Sora's name. Accompanied by heavy footsteps on the stairs. "Shit.." he hissed, trying to get the window open. "I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I agreed that it was a good idea to tell them..."

"What are you boys up to? Shouldn't you be in bed, Sora? How did the doctor's visit go? I came home early to see how you were doing." A brown haired man said, glancing at the two boys in the room as he set his briefcase on the floor, “Your mother sent me home to check on you.”

Riku could only stare down at the ground, knowing he was definitely a dead man.
Sora whimpered lightly, "I'm fine, Dad." He said, glancing at his lover before he moved over to his bed, "Riku and I have something to tell you." He began, his voice slow and hesitant as he sat on his bed.

Riku wished he could just sink through the floor and disappear rather than be trapped with no way out when Sora's dad found out their secret.

Sora sighed heavily under his father's searching gaze, "Well, there's no easy way to say this..." He said softly more to himself than to his father, "So, I'll just come out and say it." He looked up at his Dad with pleading eyes, "Dad, I'm carrying Riku's baby."

Sora's dad blinked at him and stayed silent for a moment, perhaps letting this information sink in or maybe he was trying to keep his anger in check. "Excuse me? Did I just hear you say you're carrying a 'baby'?"

"Yeah, Sora, see.. I told you that joke isn't funny," Riku blurted out, keenly aware at how close to hysterical he sounded. He grabbed Sora by the arm and tugged him towards the door. "We should try it on my dad."

"What? Wait, Riku, no." Sora said, wide eyed as the silver haired boy tugged him out of his door with his father hot on their heels, "We can't keep running from this, they'll find out sooner or later, you know!"

"I would prefer..." Riku winced when Sora's dad grabbed his arm and yanked them both to a halt. He stared at the floor, too afraid to look up. "I'm sorry, Sir. Please don't be angry with Sora. It was all my fault. I didn't mean for it to it happen, but it did and... I love him so much..."

Sora glanced up at his father, "I love him too and...and there's nothing you can do that'll keep us apart." He said quickly, gauging his father's expression, "Especially now that I'm pregnant with his child."

Mr. Miyake stared from one boy to the other, face unreadable as he processed what they had both just admitted to him. "So... what you're telling me is that you are both in a sinful relationship?" He wasn't quite ready to deal with that particular shocker of Sora being pregnant just yet. "What were you boys thinking? How could you hurt your mother and myself like that? Have you no decency or respect for us?"

"It's not sinful," Riku protested softly, squeezing Sora's hand tightly. "It's not."

Sora's eyes drifted to the floor, "I never meant to hurt you or mom, but you can't help who you fall in love with." He replied softly, "It isn't a sin to love someone."

"It is when that someone is the same sex as you," Mr. Miyake stated, feeling his anger rise. "We raised you better than that Sora. And you.." he turned his angry gaze on Riku, who barely held back a whimper as he took a step back away from Sora's father. "Despite out better judgment, Sora's mother and myself let you into our home, treated you like our own son and this is you repay is? By betraying our trust and corrupting our precious son! How dare you stand there and claim to love my boy. I doubt you even understand what real love is."

"Sir?" Riku asked, blinking back tears, body shaking with anxiety. "Please... I do know and I do love Sora."

"Do not say that again!" Mr. Miyake shouted, taking a step forward to backhand Riku across the cheek. "We trusted you."

Sora's eyes widened as he watched his father's hand connect with the side of Riku's face, "Dad!" He yelled, "Stop please!" His eyes were welling up with tears, "He didn't betray your trust and he certainly didn't corrupt me. I've felt this way about him for a long time, Dad." He cried, reaching for Riku's hand, "And, I don't care what you or Mom says, you won't stop me from seeing him."

Mr. Miyake's eyes narrowed as he turned to stare at his son. His own son who was talking back to him about sinful things. "You will do no such thing. And as for that... that... thing... that you're carrying. I'm going to make an appointment to have it terminated and you're mother will never even have to know about it. It would kill her."

"No!!" Riku shouted, jumping between Sora and his father as the older man made a grab for his son, ignoring the pain in his cheek. "It's not a thing! It's a baby! Our baby and I won't allow you to do this! Only Sora has the right to decide that!"

"You hypocrite!" Sora cried, looking over Riku's shoulder to glare at his father, "How dare you even suggest something like that?" He cried, wiping the tears that poured from his eyes, "I'm leaving..." He said, "We still have other people to tell. People who won't call it a sin!"

"What people?" Sora's dad snarled. "People like Riku's father and brothers? All sinners if you ask me. Just look at him Sora," he said, gesturing at Riku. "With hair and eyes that color... there has to be demon blood in there somewhere. I've always felt that, but because you were such good friends... I overlooked it. I can't now. Now that he's turned you to his destructive ways. Come here now Sora, or... or... I'll disown you as my son!"

Riku stared in shock at Sora's father. All this time... he had thought of Riku as a demon? The word 'hypocrite' didn't even seem to do him justice. "I'm not... I'm not a bad person," he said softly, lifting his chin to stare defiantly into the man's eyes. "You don't deserve to have a son like Sora. He's loving and kind and understanding."

"Go ahead and disown me!" Sora yelled, pushing past Riku and his father, "If that's what it takes to be with Riku and have this baby, then it's worth it."

"If you walk out that door, don't ever bother to return," Sora's father yelled back, angry and hurt and disappointed that his own son would shame him like this. "You'll be dead to me!"

Holding in his own tears, Riku needed to be strong for Sora as he wrapped an protectively about the shorter boy's shoulders. Then, with one final last glare for Sora's father, he ushered his lover down the stairs with the intention of taking him to his house. He hoped, prayed, that his family wouldn't react in the same manner when they broke their news to them next.
