Final Meeting
A/N: Usual stuff applies. There's also a note at the end.
"Well the guest of honor has arrived. Let's get this party started. Heather, go ahead and kill this crazy bitch. This demon who claims to speak for God. The time has come...you can kill her now!"
"You'll go to Hell!" I never saw the cowardly bitch coming. A true coward to the end. She couldn't stand up to Leonard and she couldn't stand up to me. So I wasn't surprised when I felt her dagger slice into my back.
***I'm at your feet....***
She's here...she's coming forward. Yelling at Claudia. Claudia. You were so blind. You never knew. Paradise was here on Earth all along. It feels like my ears are full of water...it's so hard to hear...so garbled....
"Sacrifices were made and those were my sins..."
"If you feel so guilty about it, why don't YOU go to Hell!" I was astonished the words made it out of my mouth. I hope they got under Claudia's skin. Under her skin like an infection eating away at her. She's the one that's damned.
"Heather, use the seal," I manage. I turn my face to Claudia and smile wickedly. I'd love to say "I told you so" but I won't use the energy for that. Instead I rasp, "Now your stupid dream is over!"
"I'm sorry to see you fell for my father's foolishness."
Foolishness? No I...
Claudia stands over me like a relief of a saint, hands clasped. Her dagger now juts into my heart, arteries severed and the muscles shredding as it feebly tries to continue pumping. My vision starts fading and I can't make out words again...I hear Heather cry in pain. And I hear Claudia.
"Just accept it, Alessa...."
I die with a smile on my face.
Knowing that God will not be born this day.
Knowing that the vessel had to be untouched by man.
Knowing that I was the man that was given absolution.
Paradise is so radiant....
"Now it's too late, too late for me.
This town will eventually take me.
Too late, too late for me...
This town will win." ~ Hometown
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A/N: Now don't snark at the ending. But if you think about it, Vincent didn't know about the Aglaophatis (or however the hell you spell it). So in his mind he's the one that stopped the birth of god. Let's just let the poor dead man have his little delusion of grandeur, neh?
