Clearing everything up.
Jimmy didn’t even bother changing to go to bed; he crashed sprawled out after fooling around in his room for a while. He woke the next morning to his damn alarm clock ringing in his ear, he smacked the thing as hard as he could without breaking it and rolled out of bed and went to get breakfast downtown, he rarely ate in that nasty cafeteria. As he was exiting the building he saw a fully dressed Petey coming out slightly hunched but other wise looking better. When his eyes caught Jimmy’s he smiled but the larger boy didn’t do anything but nod and walk out leaving a very heart broken Pete.
But Jimmy came back about thirty minutes later with a sack- Pete was sitting on the couch, most of the other kids were wondering around the halls or outside hanging out, the common room was rarely used by the boys except for winter when being outside meant freezing. The boys paid little attention to the two near the couch in front of the crappy TV.
Jimmy dropped a Styrofoam box on Pete’s lap startling him “O-Oh Jimmy? What’s…?” he looked down at it. “Breakfast, eat” he said walking around and sitting in one of the flimsy chairs they used for poker.
Pete opened the box to see pancakes, eggs, bacon and some fruit- everything he loved for breakfast, how the hell did Jimmy know? He assumed he’d gotten the same thing but he’d gotten two breakfast sandwiches instead. “Thank you… How much do I owe you?”
“Don’t worry about it” he said taking a bit bite.
“Oh… Thank you” he mumbled starting in on his breakfast, he looked up after chewing on his bacon a bit “I thought… This morning…” he mumbled.
“I told you I’m giving you time to think” he shrugged, Pete smiled softly if he was trying to convince the smaller boy that he was a bad guy he was doing a poor job- getting up early and riding all the way downtown to get breakfast- for himself he understood but for Pete too? That put on a lot of extra weight during biking.
Yes- he wasn’t doing a very good job at convincing Pete of his horrible ways, Dr. Crabblesnitch had occasionally described Jimmy as being ‘a diamond in the rough’ it was true.
“You going to class today?” he asked, Pete shook his head “My first class is Art- I’m done with it”
“Ah, mine’s PE” he shrugged and leaned back “I might skip”
“You shouldn’t, you’ll be busy all summer with it” he said frowning as he threw the box away, “Oh yeah, dodge ball I really have to wrack my brain on how to play dodge ball” he shrugged “It’ll be fine”
“What’ll you do then? Today I mean” he asked hopefully, “I dunno probably go earn some cash” he shrugged and again Pete looked disappointed though he tried to hide it. Jimmy sighed, why not? “You could come? Don’t blame me if the cops chase your ass though” he said. Pete smiled “Yeah I’d like to come”
They got up and snuck out of campus and walked down to the place where Jimmy would collect papers to deliver. As long as he delivered by a certain time he was fine to walk- and since it was early in the morning he had plenty of time.
Walking in silence until they reached the other end of the bridge, Pete finally spoke up “You know…” he mumbled looking up “I’ve thought about this for months”
“Thought about what?” he asked, walking with his hands shoved in his pant’s pockets- he looked at ease. Pete looked over at him hunched over again rubbing his arms “About you, about us” he said, “I always thought they were just rumors about you liking boys and I didn’t think you’d want to be with me anyways but I’d thought about it… A lot” he mumbled
“Really?” he asked raising an eyebrow, it shouldn’t have been SO surprising- Petey was an intellectual- he thought a lot. It didn’t make complete sense that he would dive in to anything with out some thought.
“Yeah” he nodded and looked out at the lake, the sun was reflecting and it looked beautiful. “It’s just- well I thought I was going crazy and all that… I thought about everything you had said or done to me, you called me a dork and pushed me around, you liked to fool around with other people… I have thought a lot about this, it’s why it hurt so much when you asked me to wait and think it out- you assumed I hadn’t, I- I really didn’t want to ruin our friend ship, god knows it’s the only thing that keeps someone sane at Bullworth”
“True that” he nodded, “Alright- so even after thinking about all that you still like me?” he shook his head.
“Yeah I do” he mumbled shrugging, “Jesus Christ” he mumbled rubbing his face making Pete look over questioningly as he threw a newspaper into a mailbox. “I still don’t know man.” Jimmy said as they kept walking, he was carrying all of the papers while Pete put them in the mail box, he didn’t want him carrying such a heavy load with such a bruised body.
“Do… Do you like me like that?” he asked, “You said you liked me yesterday but… Did you mean it like that?” he put another paper in a mailbox. Jimmy was quiet for a while and Pete’s shoulders sank- so that was his answer? They walked about another block in silence before Jimmy spoke up “Yeah I meant it like that, I do like you- and I wouldn’t mind being with you for more than just a fling.”
“Then what’s the problem?” he asked softly, Jimmy shrugged “Dunno, guess I still think you can do better” he said, surprised at the glare he was getting “Alright- alright, fine, I wont’ say it anymore” he said rolling his eyes. They walked in silence again when Jimmy spoke up a few moment later “Have you really thought about it for months?” he asked, Pete nodded “I guess the first time I really thought about it was last spring, right before school let out for the summer” he said, “I probably liked you before that but I just didn’t know it.” He looked over at Jimmy with a small smile “So… Yeah, I know that I like you- a lot.”
“I think you’re fucking crazy” he said, but as nonchalant as he tried to sound he couldn’t ignore the increased heart beat or that annoying fluttering in his belly. Pete sighed softly, “I know, I know” he mumbled. “But I do like you, and you like me too… So I don’t see the problem here”
“Well Gary is a very big problem here” he said frowning, “I mean look at you Pete- he almost broke your ribs, god knows what else” he frowned. Pete shrugged “When have you ever cared what Gary thought? You took care of him yesterday right? Then what’s the big deal?”
“… Point taken” he said, Pete sighed and threw a paper into a mail box, much harder than was necessary and started walking at a quicker pace, “If you don’t want to be with me fine, then stop- I don’t know beating around the bush and saying you like me and stuff if you don’t!” he said. Jimmy didn’t wait around- he knew Pete was built for speed- slender and short. And Jimmy was loaded down with nearly his weight in newspapers and had to run to catch up with him, the short distance already had him out of breath he pulled on his sleeve to get him to stop “Petey wait”
“No” he said stubbornly but Jimmy wouldn’t let him go, When Pete got out of his grasp the freckled boy cursed and shoved the bag carrier off of his shoulders and ran after Pete grabbing him by the waist- Pete gasped half from shock half from pain, Jimmy didn’t let go though. “Listen man… I do like you; I want to be with you.” He said quickly, “I’m not making excuses or anything like that- you already got your ass beat once and I was just worried he’d do it again.”
Pete sighed and placed his hands on Jimmy’s, “We’ll handle it” he said, “Do you really wanna be my boyfriend?” he asked, Jimmy let go of him and nodded when her turned around, Jimmy looked at him “Guess I gotta make this all official and shit then since you won’t do it… Pete will you be my boyfriend?” he asked, blushing under those freckles. Pete raised an eyebrow “What? No crap about how you’re not good enough for me or that you’re stupid and ugly?”
“Hey- what the hell I never called my self ugly.” He frowned making Pete bite back a snicker, “Yeah I’ll be your boyfriend” he smiled .
“Sweet” he smiled and kissed him, Pete blushed- what if his parents saw them? Would they freak out? Probably…
Jimmy’s hands slipped around the smaller boy’s waist pulling him closer- Pete stopped caring so much about what his parents thought and let him self be pushed against a tall wooden fence and kissed. Pete wrapped his arms around his neck “You know…” he said panting looking past him for a moment “One of the greasers just took off with your newspapers”
Jimmy looked over his shoulder to see indeed- the papers were gone and a leather clad man was running away with it. He laughed and buried his face into Pete’s neck
“Shit.”
END! No sex I'm afraid, might do another fanfiction with a more intimate feeling to it. I'm not much of an author though and I only write for my own amusement usually but I hope you enjoyed it :] Reviews are always appreciated!
