Okay so i didn't really like chapter one either. Kaim will become a better character once he starts remembering things. Very soon. this chapter hurt me a bit to write because i luv Jansen. But yeah. Pretty soon all this plot stuff'll be done n i can get to something more interesting.

Chapter 2
In a rage Gongora slammed his fist into the wall of his study. The elaborate and expensive paintings quivered under the force of the magic that had slipped through him in his rage; one of his scrolls on magical energy even singed slightly along the edges. Those parchments were priceless considering he was one of the few people alive that studied magic these days. Regardless, only one thought scampered across his mind.
“Whoa there tiger,” Jansen, who had been lounging casually in Gongora’s desk char held up his hands to cover his face. Last time the more experienced sorcerer had come home in a rage, the playful man had almost gotten some of his precious hair burned off. He spent a lot of time on that part of him since every one seemed to like it so much. . . Taking his feet off the desk and retreating to a safer place behind one of the pillars in the office, Jansen waited for his boss to calm down.
‘How dare they? How dare that bastard Roxian and that wretched council do this to him?’
His research had revolutionized the city ever since the death of the king! He and he alone had changed the way the citizens of Urah lived their everyday lives! If it weren’t for he, in all his greatness, the people of Urah wouldn’t even have cars! Growling he removed his fist from the now cracked wall, he could mend it later.
With a gruff exhale he permitted himself the luxury of sitting down on his now vacated desk chair. This was getting out of hand, assassinating the king was supposed to help him progress not get him placed under house arrest. Honestly!
“So ya. . . ya calmed down now?” Jansen asked hesitantly poking his head out. “’cause, ya know, I can leave if this is a bad-
“Silence!” The blond barked. Quickly, Jansen retreated like a threatened turtle. In all his years of working for Gongora, Jansen had seen his fair share of hissy fits. Not that he could really blame the man, considering his position and what not, but sometimes he swore, Gongora should just kick back and have a beer with the ladies. . . or whatever. “Come here.” The man ordered.
Pouting and looking very much like a beaten puppy, Jansen scuffled his way over to his master. True, the man was cross, but if Jansen let that bother him and fled, things would only get worse.
“Kneel,” the man ordered and Jansen did so. He knew what his employer liked and that was complete submission. Sitting back on his haunches, Jansen rested by Gongora’s side like a well trained dog. Kissing the man’s ring, as was protocol for respect, Jansen sighed and let himself transition into ‘obey the master’ mode.
Pouring himself some whiskey from the glass flask on his desk Gongora was silent for a long time. Jansen, though itching to get away, reminded himself that if he was already tender from a client earlier that day. Gongora, though a naturally aggressive man, could also be very gentle when in the right mood.
“I have a proposition for you.” The man suddenly spoke up. He had been toying with the high ponytail atop the younger sorcerers head while he thought. Now that he was under house arrest having Jansen around would make the time go by faster, however he had a better idea. He may already have someone watching over Kaim’s investigation, but it also wouldn’t hurt to send a bit of extra help.
“There’s a man being sent to Grand Staff tomorrow morning. I want you to accompany him.” Hazel eyes lit up at the strange request. Gongora had never requested that he leave Urah. Since he had started his work for Gongora eleven years ago he had been limited by the walls of the city. “I will pay you handsomely for your trouble.” As Jansen was about to open his mouth to reply, Gongora held up a hand to silence him, “There is one more thing.”
Jansen bit his tongue to silence himself and waited for Gongora to swallow another mouthful of liquor.
“This man suffers from amnesia. If he begins to remember anything, I want you to use this.” Fishing through his desk drawer, Gongora fished out an odd-looking black marble. “If he begins to recall anything, anything at all I simply ask that you throw this at him.” Jansen frowned but took the small sphere and placed it into the pocket of his tight black pants. The dark green, rose patterned shirt he was wearing rustled as he did so.
“It is essential that you do this. In fact,” The man continued as he rose up from his chair and moved across the room. “If it comes to the point where you must use it, and you do, I’ll triple your pay.” At hat moment the young man’s eyes lit up.
“Triple eh?” he asked standing up and tossing his auburn hair out of his face. “I guess that warrants an extra special ‘thank you’ doesn’t it?” he placed his hands on his hip and arched his back. Without his sorcerers robe he was actually quite thin. He wasn’t frail, but he was hardly as muscular as most men. He smiled and winked causing his full face to glow.
“Do what you will. On another not I suspect you have something for me from earlier today.” Frowning at Gongora’s lack of response to his flawless charm, he reached for the small sack of gold coins he had received from his earlier work.
“Shoulda been more,” The man whined “guy was a total freak. Ya know what he made me do-
“I don’t want to hear the details of your frivolous and disgraceful lifestyle.” The blond snapped matter of flatly. Pursing his lips Jansen muttered a sarcastic response under his breath as he handed over the money. “Nor do I care for the commentary,” Gongora reported frankly.
Blowing up his cheeks like an irritated puffer fish, Jansen kept the remainder of his comments to himself. He knew the man was in a mood and since he valued his health he considered it wise to stay silent. When Gongora opened the door to his bedroom, Jansen had to swallow a mouthful of disgust.
He hated this. Not that the man was a troll, but Jansen didn’t exactly find him attractive. To be honest , when he did find other men attractive they tended to look a lot like women. Thin, androgynous, long hair, pretty eyes, smooth skin, a nice rump didn’t hurt either. Gongora , however, possessed none of these things. The man was as bulky and hairy as any other men. Women would have thrown themselves at his thick build and strong status, the money didn’t hurt either. But Jansen, he just hoped he could keep his reddish brown eyes shut and imagine someone else. When calloused hands grabbed him however, he could only bite his tongue the same way he had been doing for eleven years.
(for those people that wanted something more graphic. . . I’m sorry I just couldn’t do it. For those of you that appreciate the lack of further detail, you’re welcome and I promise not to do anything like this again soon.)
