The Sickness
Starry's Corner: This chapter takes place after a one month time skip.
Chapter Three: The Sickness
Sora clutched the porcelain toilet bowl, panting softly as he felt a bead of sweat slip down his skin. His brown haired mother reached over from behind him to flush the toilet, her eyebrow arched in question as she stared down at her son, who had just gotten done throwing up like he had spent the entire night partying.
"Mom..." The brunet started, his voice horse from the almost constant dry heaving, "This has been going on for a week!" He whined, looking behind him at his mother, "What's wrong with me?"
The woman shrugged, heaving a sigh, "The best I can do is make an appointment with your doctor, dear." She said, shaking her head. She was truly at a loss. Never had her child been this sick before.
Peering around Sora's mother, standing just outside the bathroom, Riku merely raised an elegant eyebrow at his lover, "I told you not to eat those clams. But, do you ever listen?" He scolded, attributing Sora's illness to bad shell fish.
Sora glared at the silveret, "It wasn't the clams, Riku." he hissed through gritted teeth before a strange look overtook his features, and once again, he was bent over the commode throwing up.
Sakura Miyake held a hand over her mouth, "On that note, I'll go make that appointment." She said, shaking her head once more before brushing past Riku, "I'll try to get you one for as soon as possible." She added before leaving her son's bathroom.
“On that note, I'll go make your appointment, love.” His mother said, giving a disgusted looked at the toilet, “I'll try to get you one for as soon as possible.” She added before leaving the bathroom.
Holding in a chuckle, because he knew Sora would kill him if he laughed, Riku peered out into the hallway from Sora's room, waiting for Sakura to disappear down the stairs and into the sitting room to phone the doctor before he entered the bathroom to comfort the younger boy. He crouched next to him and wrapped an arm around the boy's shoulders, "Cheer up...at least you got out of going to school this week." He murmured in the boy's ear, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
Sora groaned softly, his voice echoing in the bowl, "I forgot about that!" He whined, lifting his head, "I'm going to have so much make up work!" He pouted, turning to look at his boyfriend.
Making certain that the arm he draped over Sora looked brotherly and not something more incase Sora's mother came back up stairs, Riku leaned in to place another chaste kiss on his brunet's cheek, "You won't have any trouble catching up. And, if by the slim chance you do need help, you can always ask me."
Sora groaned softly once again before he quickly pushed Riku out of the way, leaning over the toilet once more, the sounds of him throwing up causing Riku to lean back slightly, "Ew!" The silveret exclaimed, his nose crinkling at the sour smell, "Give me a little warning next time! That was foul!"
The brunet wiped his mouth on the back of his hand as he lifted his head, reaching over to flush the toilet, "I'll give you a warning when my body gives me one." He replied dryly, giving his lover a flat look just as his mother walked into the bathroom.
"You're appointment is today at eleven. Unfortunately, since it's such short notice I can't get the day off. You'll have to go on your own, I've arranged for a cab to pick you up at ten thirty."
Sora blinked, looking up at the woman with a frown, "Dad couldn't get time off either?" He asked with a sigh, already knowing the answer.
Sakura shook her head, "No, he couldn't. But, he'll be coming home to check on you over his lunch break." She said, "You'll do fine."
"I could take him, Mrs. Miyake." Riku offered, being a year older than Sora, he already had his license and his father had bought him a car.
The woman eyed the boy for a moment, a small frown on her face, "Don't you have school?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"It's a teacher's work day." Riku replied quickly.
"I suppose it'll have to do?" Sora's mother said with a heavy sigh.
Sora pouted, “Why do you get Teacher work days!” He murmured, his voice low and whiney, leaning against the commode, “We don't...we get In Service days...”
Sora's mother raised an eyebrow at her son who immediately quieted down, “Be sure to call me after your appointment so I know what's wrong with you, alright?”
Sora nodded as his mother walked out of the room, he could hear her heels clicking softly down the stairs, meaning she was now heading off to work, “Are you done vomiting now?” Riku asked playfully, nudging his lover, who turned and glared at him.
Riku smiled sheepishly, making a mental note to go easy on the jokes until Sora was feeling better, “We have about an hour before we have to leave, do you want to lay down? Or maybe try to eat something?” He asked, running a hand through the brunet's hair. He was genuinely concerned for his lover's well being, hating having to see his lover in any kind of pain or discomfort.
A look of pure disgust passed over Sora's features, "Don't mention food." He said, shaking his head slowly, "I don't even want to think about food right now."
Riku eyed his lover, "A nap it is." He said, helping his lover into a standing position, "But, are you sure your don't want some crackers or toast?" He asked, looking down at his sick boyfriend, who promptly shook his head. The silver male could only chuckle softly as he kept an arm firmly around Sora's waist as he helped the brunet into his bedroom and towards his bed.
The elder of the two teens pulled back the covers, allowing the younger to climb into the bed, "You're going to lay with me, right?" Sora asked, looking up as his lover who had taken a seat on the edge of the bed, "Of course." The silver haired teen replied, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead.
After toeing off his shoes, Riku carefully climbed into the bed beside Sora, not wanting to jostle him too much. "I'm sorry you're not feeling well," He murmured, rubbing Sora's back in a soothing manner, "But, I don't recall anyone else we know being sick. Are you sure it's not something you ate?"
Sora nodded, laying his head on the teen's chest, sighing contently, "Positive." He replied, closing his eyes, just realizing how tired he really was after his night of sleep was taken from him by constant vomiting. After a few moments he was peacefully sleeping.
--- --- ---
An hour and many interesting daydreams later, Riku gently shook his lover awake, "C'mon, sleepy head, time to wake up. We don't want your mother going ballistic on us because you missed you're appointment." He whispered, leaning over his lover's body, gently nibbling on Sora's ear as he spoke.
Sora gave a soft groan, his hands pushing up Riku's back and into his hair, "Five more minutes, baby." He murmured softly, his blue eyes still closed and his voice hazy with sleep.
Riku smiled softly, caressing Sora's cheek for a moment before he sat up, pulling his little lover up with him, "It's time to leave, baby." He said, rubbing Sora's back slowly, pressing a chaste kiss to the brunet's neck as the boys arms embraced him.
"So soon?" Sora asked, his lips curving into a pouty frown, nuzzling his lover's cheek as he spoke.
Riku chuckled softly, pressing another kiss to his lover's neck, "The sooner we get there, the sooner we can get done and get back here and snuggle more." He pointed out as Sora sighed heavily, pushing away from Riku to stretch.
Sora nodded in agreement, pushing himself to the edge of his bed, "Yeah, you're right." He said, but as soon as he reached his feet, the room began to spin and once again he had to make a mad dash to the bathroom, his lover close behind him as he fell to his knees in front of the toilet, empting his stomach once again.
"Are you going to be okay?" Riku asked, knelt down next to his lover, rubbing his back, "Do you want me to go start up my car...or wait for you?"
"I'll be fine." Sora replied, panting softly, leaning against the toilet, "I'll meet you out front in a couple of minutes."
Riku nodded, opting for pressing a kiss to his cheek instead of his mouth for obvious reasons, Sora would understand. He then walked out of the bathroom and Sora's bedroom.
--- --- ---
In as little as fifteen minutes the couple was already heading out of Sora's neighbor, the brunet keeping his palm firmly clamped over his mouth as wave after wave of nausea creeped up on him. The silver haired teen eyeing his lover in case he had to pull over, after all, he didn’t want his new car ruined by his lover’s upset stomach.
“Oh, while I’m thinking about it...” The aquamarine eyed teenager said, glancing over at his lover (who hadn’t puked in his car...yet, thank God!), “...I got something for you in the glove box.”
Sora blinked, looking over at his lover for a moment in confusion, “But, it’s not my birthday...or our anniversary...?” He mention slowly before turning to the glove bow, opening it. He could immediately tell what his gift was; a small unwrapped book sat on top of all the other papers that had found their way into Riku’s glove box, “Baby?” He said softly, pulling the book out.
Riku chuckled, his aquamarine eyes on the road once more as he slowed to a stop for a red lightly, “I don’t need a holiday to give my lover something special, now do I?” He asked, turning to give his lover a grin, “I drew you something on the first page...” He paused, a smirk passing over his features, “Don’t let anyone see it or they’ll know about us.”
The brunet blinked, casting his lover a confused look before he opened the book. A blush flooded his cheeks before he immediately slammed the cover closed, “Riku!” He said in a strangled voice which caused the said boy to burst out laughing, “Hey, now! I’m proud of that picture.” He laughed.
Sora set the book down on his lap, “You should be, ignoring the nudeness and the odd position we’re in...” He paused, frowning, “Where did you come up with that idea, anyway?” He asked, turning to his lover.
It was Riku’s turn to blush, “Let’s just say Yazoo has a perverted sense of humor.” He replied flatly, shaking his head slowly.
The brunet chuckled softly, “It’s a nice picture, Riku.” He said, “Like all of your work. You should seriously consider going to art school.”
“Yeah, I know, but...” Riku shrugged as he pulled into the parking lot of the doctor’s office, “You know how my mom feels about it.” If he wanted to pursue an education in art, he’d have to do it behind her back. Like he did with so many other things, including the brunet sitting next to him.
Sora turned to his lover as Riku turned the car off after finding a parking space, “What does your mother know?” He asked, his voice was playful even though his eyes were serious, “If it makes you happy, you should go for it.”
“Will you follow me if I do choose to attend art school?” Riku asked softly, turning to his lover, “I haven’t got much time left...and...I figured if I do go, I could choose a school based on where ever you plan to go.”
Sora smiled softly, a slight blush on his face, “Of course I would.” He replied just as softly, grasping his lover’s hand in his own, bringing it to his lips, “I’d follow you to the ends of the Earth.”
Riku smiled in turn, leaning over to place a chaste kiss on the boy's lips before they parted and exited the car, “My art teacher says I'm good enough to get a scholarship.” He said, placing a hand on his lover's lower back to lead him into the doctor's office, “She even got me to finally enter a piece of my work in the annual art fair at school.”
“Really?” Sora asked, looking over at his silver haired boyfriend as the said male held the door open for him, “Which piece?” He asked as he stepped through and into the waiting room of the doctor’s office.
Riku grinned, “It's a surprise. You'll have to come to the show to see it.” He said, following behind Sora who went up to the receptionist’s desk, “It's this weekend.”
Sora nodded, “We're so there.” He said before turning to the receptionist, “Sora Miyake. I have an appointment at eleven.”
The blond haired woman at the desk looked up at him, blinking momentarily, “Ah yes, your mother called ahead and paid the copay by credit.” She said, “Go ahead and take a seat. A nurse will call you when they’re ready for you.”
Sora nodded once more before he and his lover took a seat in the waiting area, “You’ll go back there with me, right?” He asked, looking over at the silver haired teen.
“What am I?” Riku asked, looking up from the magazine he had just grabbed, “You’re mother?” He asked playfully.
Sora snorted, “That is wrong on so many levels and you know it!” He replied, shaking his head, “Come on, Riku, you know I don't like doctors! They always want to stick me with a needle!”
"You're just being paranoid," Riku said, but he did reach out to cover Sora's hand with his own. "I was just giving you a hard time. You know I'll go back there with you."
Just then a nurse appeared in the doorway holding a clip board. "Sora?" she asked, looking at both boys momentarily before looking back down at the chart in her hands, not noticing it when the silver-haired teen quickly withdrew his hand from the brunet's. She had been too busy glancing at the chart in her hand.
