Iria's POV

She felt safe and warm. The smell of leather and rain was all around her. Alucard’s scent. Was he here? Was he close by? Her heart began to race. She didn’t know how or when, but her feelings for him had changed from seeing him as a big brother, to seeing him as a man. An incredibly gorgeous man. She remembered the time when she first realized that she was in love with him. It had been a few months after her return and Nathan and herself were searching for a werewolf that had a shikon jewel shard. They had gotten separated.

Without their knowledge, Alucard had followed them. He said that he didn’t feel that leaving such a task in the hands of kids was such a good idea. She had gotten lost in the Black Forest and managed to get a gash on her leg by a tree branch. Her blood had called to the possessed werewolf and he pounced on her. She braced for pain, but felt none. She opened her closed eyes and saw Alucard in front of her as well as the dead werewolf. He had one arm wrapped around her securely and had killed the wolf with the other. She would never forget the look she saw in his eyes nor the way his body felt against hers. It was then that she realized her true feelings for the dampeal.

Now the world slowly returned to her. The touch of wind and the sound of horse hooves invaded her senses. She also felt her body held tightly against a bigger, stronger one. Iria slowly opened her eyes and looked up into Alucard’s face. He had that same look in his eyes and his face was a mask of determination. His eyes fixed straight ahead, never flinching. Iria felt a shiver go through her body as she closed her eyes again and fall back to sleep.

Alucard’s POV

He unlocked the door and stepped inside with Iria in his arms. He gently placed her on the bed and locked the front door. He checked every room to make sure that it was safe and then returned to her side. He lightly touched her forehead and smiled when he felt her body temperature was normal. The color had returned to her face and her breathing was heavier. She was asleep. He took back his hand and went to see if the house contained any food.

In the cellar, there were some dried meats that had been packaged and stored from mice or any other wild life. Upstairs there were a few spices and some mild wine. He checked the electricity and gas both were working fine. He laughed. It seemed Myer was hoping to live with some of his comforts, even in hiding. He turned on the barricades to keep the apparitions away and started cooking some food for himself and Iria.
