Chapter 26

Never before had Hwoarang actually witnessed a demon murder two people. No, not only murder, but that thing fucking ate the guy!

Hwoarang followed reluctantly behind the others as the Blood Talon led the way through the double doors to their meeting place. Doormat and Babo were clinging to each other, and Jin was ahead of them. It was best to stay away from the Japanese; the redhead was trembling, still quite shaken up from what had happened, and he wasn't about to get close enough to anyone to let them find out. Yeah right, and give them another excuse to call him a wimp? Not as long as he could help it.

What bothered him the most was how troubled BT seemed. Wasn't that guy supposed to be the best at keeping his cool? Well, to be fair, that demon had shown more than a little bit of interest in BT and something like that would be enough to unnerve the calmest of people.

"Hey," Babo spoke up quietly. "Should we just let Hiro eat Zekkai like that?"

The others ignored the question. They passed a long row of doors down the hallways, but Blood Talon had seemed determined all along. He stopped at one, opening it and walking through, not bothering to knock. Jin shrugged and followed inside, and a sparse, one-person applause was heard.

As Hwoarang gazed through the door, he saw a middle-aged man in a suit sitting at the end of a table. "Well done." He said, nodding with approval.

"Well done?" The Blood Talon growled angrily, "what's that supposed to mean?"

The man smiled lightly, letting his gaze drift over the group. "You made it here. Which means this group is capable. No point in sending someone to Nebraska who couldn't even make it here."

"Oh yeah? Well that's not because of you!" The Blood Talon scowled at the guy, then over at the two guards in the room. "I hope these are better behaved; the ones out there almost killed me!"

"I know." The man responded, still smiling. "But you made -"

"You knew?" The redhead more or less screamed. "What kind of organization is this? Were people supposed to die back there?"

There was definitely something wrong with those people. Hwoarang took a step toward the businessman, stopping just behind the Blood Talon. "You sniveling little weasel! I bet he's just a sadist too weak and impotent to do his own dirty work."

Apparently all the obvious anger made the guards a bit uneasy, and when they started reaching down towards their weapons, a barrel was already pointed at them. "Oh no, you don't!" The Blood Talon said with a teeth-baring sneer. "Lose them." He demanded.

After a few seconds of hesitation, the guards let their guns drop to the floor, and with a cocky smirk, the redhead nodded back at his friends. "Jin, Hwoarang... a guard for each of you..."

What the hell was that supposed to mean? He got to beat one of them up or was he supposed to just hold one? Hwoarang moved toward one, grabbed the guard by the arm and flipped him over onto his back. Maybe he'd feel a bit less shaken up if he had a bit of firepower. so he picked up one of the discarded guns and stepped down on the fallen guard's chest, keeping him down.

"Let me explain..." the man in the suit started, but the Blood Talon was obviously not in the mood for that.

"No, let me explain." The Korean said as he walked up to stand behind the man's chair. "You guys want us to save the world? Fine. But let me tell you something. What just happened felt like an experiment. Now I'm sure that's all normal for you scientist people, but if that happens again, our group isn't going after the G Corporation, we're going after you. Do I make myself clear?"

Jin smirked at the scene, having grabbed his guard around the throat and picked up the other gun. Doormat Yankee and Babo were holding each other's hands painfully tight, looking scared to death and completely out of place.

"No more experiments. Got it. You're the capable ones anyway. We'll terminate the other group, you have our backing. I promise." The businessman choked out, not entirely lacking of fear himself.

"Don't think you can be stingy with the funds either," Hwoarang growled at the businessman. The angrier he acted, he figured the less freaked out people would think he was. "I think the fucker should give us extra as compensation for making our comrade go berserk."

"We need a lot of things to succeed," the Blood Talon said in an insistent voice, "and for most of those we need money. Apart from that, we need more information. We barely know anything at this point, and you can hardly expect us to search an entire state."

"Yes, I know," the man mumbled, "we were only going to decide which Jin and Hwoarang team would get the job. We've thought of all this already. Just come with me to my office and we'll make the necessary arrangements..."

Hwoarang rolled his eyes and looked at the Blood Talon. "That could be a trap. There could be an army of guys waiting for us there with guns and syringes again, or if we let these guards go, they could get their friends."

"You're right." The Blood Talon said, quirking a smile at the other redhead. "Think you could watch these two guards together with Babo and D.Y., so that I and Jin could go with this guy? They'll need us to get Hiro out of here without killing everyone, but we can't count on them knowing that... so if I'm going to walk into a trap and die for the cause, I'd like to have someone with me who can avenge me and live to tell the tale."

Now that just added to his overwhelming nerves. With a deep breath and a careful scan of the situation, Hwoarang failed to think of a better plan. He shifted the gun to another hand, frowning at his sweaty hands and then locked eyes with the other redhead. "Fine. I hope you realise what a huge leap of faith this is..." He glanced wearily at Jin and nodded. "I can take care of these chumps. Piece of cake."

"You can trust me," the Blood Talon smirked, then put the gun away under his leather top again, nudging the older man with the other hand. "Alright, manager. Let's go."
