What awaits me

At the end



A/N: trying to get most of the boring stuff out of the way so sorry if it’s not what you expected it to be yet, I’m working on building some of the backstory.

 

In the Citadel:

“Commander Shepard, do you read me, over!” ordered Hackett over the communicator “The Reapers are gone, what is your status commander” Shepard laid there unresponsive as the Citadel all around him began to fall apart and drift into space section by section.



THE afterlife:

                “Shepard, wake up” spoke a familiar voice “Whose there?” spoke Shepard as he opened his eyes and saw nothingness around him “Welcome to the afterlife old friend” responded the voice. Out of the darkness, Thane approached him along with Kaiden  “Commander.” Said Kaiden as he saluted him “Alenko!” shouted Shepard as he gave him a hug “nice to see you too Commander…” said Kaiden with surprise “Shepard.” Coughed Thane,  as Shepard then let go of Kaiden and paid attention to Thane “So this is it, huh?” asked Shepard as he looked around “just the three of us? Garrus is going to be pissed” Kaiden and Thane laughed “no this really isn’t it, this is just a transitioning stage” replied Kaiden as he then pointed to an explosion in the far distance “There’s the gate, just brace yourself commander” Shepard braced himself and saw the light quickly rush towards the three engulfing them, quickly closing his eyes not knowing what to expect. “Shepard it’s okay, open your eyes”  said Thane, Shepard then opened his eyes and found himself on a cliff looking at a paradise before him; waterfalls, blue skies, a beautiful ocean, a warm welcoming breeze, forests and the gentle sunlight illuminating it all “okay, never mind Garrus is going to like this place after all” whispered Shepard silently to himself “Now welcome to Heaven” Kaiden said putting his hand on Shepard’s shoulder “I’m amazed I’m not in the other place” chuckled Shepard  as Kaiden took his hand away“Yes, I could say the same thing for myself” replied Thane “But I guess this is our reward” Shepard then suddenly remembered the rest of his team and quickly panicking asking the two “Is anyone else from the invasion here?” Thane then answered “No, Wrex was close but you know med-gels, they fix everything, except being sucked into the vacuums of space.” “Yeah, I don’t remember this” replied Shepard as he sat down at the edge of the cliff overlooking the horizon in the distance “Few people would. It is like a dream and most people who are pulled back from death’s embrace tend not to remember their time here.” Said Thane as he and Kaiden then sat next to Shepard “so now what?” asked Shepard, as he became curious to see what there was to do around here “Nothing, well at least for you Commander.” Spoke Kaiden “I’m dead if you haven’t noticed Alenko and I’m not doing nothing for an eternity.” Responded Shepard as he sternly looked at Kaiden “woah, don’t get me wrong Shepard,” quickly replied Kaiden “Someone wanted us to meet you and show you what awaits” said Thane “You are still alive…barely but still alive, you’re vitals are becoming weaker as we speak.” Shepard’s eyes widened “what do you mean Thane” he asked hastily “Whoever runs this place wanted us to keep you company for a little bit before they rescue you and take you to seek medical attention” chimed in Kaiden who began to grin “You mean…?” started shepard “Yes, you will make it out of the Citadel in one piece…technically speaking, you’ve suffered a lot of injuries and..” said Kaiden who was soon interrupted by another familiar voice “Ah, Shepard there you are” interjected Mordin “Had trouble finding you. Vastness of this place….incomprehensible” as he then tried to type something into his Omni-tool “wait forgot. Don’t have that here. Will need to find something to type or write on.” “Mordin!” said Shepard turning around to look at the Salarian coming behind them “Who else would it be?” asked Mordin looking at him “Genophage cure worked I presume?” asked the Salarian scientist “Yeah, they’re thinking of naming one of the kids after you” replied Shepard “hmmm Mordin Urnot. Don’t know if I like it, but I will accept it.” Responded Mordin “Now, about the injuries, you’re heavily injured and probably won’t make a full recovery for a bit, going to have a lot of time to do R&R. Suggest going to the beach with Tali Zorah. Never had much time for romance, always another experiment that needed attention.” Shepard smiled as he missed Mordin’s rants about things leading to other things “My final recommendation, enjoy the life you are given again Shepard and enjoy your life with Tali. Never would have gotten to go to this place if it wasn’t for you Shepard, I heard the other place isn’t as nice.” Shepard then looked at the three of them “ I will be off now Shepard” said Mordin turning back around “I want to go see the Normandy SR1, heard construction is going well.” As Mordin began to walk away, Shepard heard a very familiar song (A/N: Yeah you know what song it is) being sang “Interesting guy” spoke Kaiden “Yes, the afterlife is a lot like the living world” said Thane “Very different parts of here to enjoy only problem is getting there. Some people started to build a model of the old Normandy to get there.” “oh look” said Kaiden spotting an explosion in the distance “Guess it’s time” “time for what?” asked Shepard “for you to go back” said Thane “It was fun, Commander. Take it easy and we’ll see you again in another 70 years” laughed Kaiden “Wait, I have a lot to ask you two” said Shepard as the explosion neared them “Save it. I look forward to hearing your exploits when you’re here for good, Commander” responded Alenko as the explosion’s light engulfed the three



End Afterlife:



“He is barely holding on! We need to stabilize him” said a voice in the darkness “How is he still alive?”  asked another “who cares, do you want to be the one to say that Commander Shepard died on your watch? The galaxy would never forgive us” another voice interrupted “Shepard! Khiela!” shouted Tali (A/N: can someone please tell me the proper spelling for the Quarian phases) “Tali?” asked Shepard, as he regained consciousness and saw lights in a ceiling and several different doctors of different species swarming around his field of vision “He’s responsive!” shouted one of the doctors “good, we need several transfusions of blood, we’re going to do surgery and transfusions at the same time” replied another “Put him back under before we take him into surgery.” Shepard was able to look up and see Tali holding his hand “Please make it through. I don’t want to be alone, I lost my father and I don’t know what I will do if I lose you too” she sobbed “I’ll be fine Tali. Just wait for me” whispered Shepard as he felt a prick from the needle and his vision faded to darkness again.
