Finding Purpose

((Hello! Thank you for reading so far! If you're reading this that must mean you liked chapter one enough to continue with this garbage. For that, I am grateful that at least someone found interest in reading it.

So here is what I want to do. I want to write a story that is influenced by the readers. If you like what you see in the story or would like to see a certain even to happen, or event know more about a certain character. Leave a comment and I will add a bit about whatever is requested into the next chapter or further down the line if applicable! An interactive story of sorts! ))

Chapter Two

It's been three days since we took over the Super Duper Mart. The supplies here are actually quite plentiful. You'd think over hundreds of years a place like this would be desolate of materials. Maybe it's all the parties of survivors before us that brought their shit here. I've spent most of my time since we took this place over with Nells and Jax. Nells is a pretty quiet guy, unlike the rest of us loud and crazy hounds.

I was sitting in the female bathroom where I set up my room when I heard a knock on the door. A moment later I heard a voice ask out,

"Anybody in here?" It was Milk. That screwball is always up to something.

I took a breathe and replied, "Yeah, just me Milky." My hands went over and picked up a jet tube on the floor. I sat up from the cot and leaned against the stone wall as Milk opened the door and stepped inside the bathroom.

He eyed me down before looking around to make sure no one else was in there. He closed the door behind him. Not that closing the door did any good since the top half was missing from the door.

"Fuck you doin' in here by yourself?" Milk asked me in his normal tone.

I twirled the Jet in my hand so he could see. "Just gettin' some juice ready to get my pumpin' before we head out later tonight, Milky."

He grinned at me and replied with, "That shit will get ya' killed." He stepped closer to me and I read his body language so I freed up room on the cot so he could sit down as well.

"Gimme' some of that." He said as he plopped himself down next to me on the cot.

"Fuck you, Milk. Twenty caps! You know this shit aint free!" I retorted back to him in a half joking manner.

"Well God dammit. How about I let you suck my dick and you still give me the Jet."

I smiled back, "How about twenty caps and I won't bite your dick off." I said snidely towards him.

He grinned before reaching into his leather pants and grabbing a stack of welded together caps. "Twenty caps then." He handed me two, ten cap stacks. In return I handed him the juice to send him to high heaven.

"Why don't you hang out with the rest of us more often Candy. You spend to much time by yourself." He said in a non demeaning tone for the first time in ages.

"Believe it or not Milk, as fucked up as I am. Mutilating dead bodies all day is not my ballgame. I also didn't come out here so you and Luce could fuck me every twenty of minutes like Tophat. I could of stayed in Evergreen Hills if I wanted to get my holes filled by ever sleaze in the neighborhood."

"Shit girl, that's your job. If I tell you to suck my cock, you do it. Only reason no one has asked you yet is out of respect for your pops."

My eyes drifted towards the cold floor as he mentioned him. "You're right." I said. "Cross some lines and he'll stick his shotgun right up your ass and pull the trigger."

The conversation got a little uncomfortable after that for both of us. Milk stood up with his Jet. "We're heading out in ten minutes. Pack your shit." He said coldly before heading towards the door and exiting the bathroom. Leaving me to myself in the bathroom.

I gathered up my combat equipment from around the room. Chinese Pistol, check. Ammunition, check. Stimpacks, check. Jet, check. Ready to go.

I left the bathroom and headed towards the front door. Nells, Tophat and Luce were waiting for me at the door.

"Hurry the fuck up!" Luce shouted at me. I picked up my pace and jogged over to them.

Luce's eyes drifted back and forth between us. "Okay, here's the deal. We've got plenty of food and medicine here to rival Megaton. But we're lacking two things. One, we need to find more raiders to join us here and two, ammunition is short of supply." He took a breathe before continuing. "Nells found a ammunition stockpile a couple miles from here, near Anchorage. We're gonna' head on down and capture it. Nells will be our lead guy. Kill anything and anybody you don't know." He gripped his assault rifle and pulled back the mechanism. "Let's go."

Nells head out the door with Luce right behind him. Tophat turned to me with a smile. "You ready Candy? This time, don't just stand there when the shit goes down. You'll get yourself killed. Fight back, sweets." My head turned forward.

"Thanks for the heads up. Let's go." I said as I headed out the door and she followed.

We made it down the road without running into anyone or anything and the cover of night made it easy for us to sneak around in the ruins of the city without running into any Super Mutants. Nells set the pace ahead of the pack at a slow walk so it wasn't tiring to catch up with them. Luce kept his assault rifle ready throughout the march, he hated stowing his weapon away. Something about ferals I guess. I was about fifteen feet behind Luce and Tophat was right on me. She was practically hugging my backside as we walked.

Nells came to an abrupt stop and waved us back to find cover. He crouched down and hid behind an old destroyed car. There were buildings on both sides of us and we were on a narrow city street littered with debris and old vehicles. The rest of us did as Nells did and crouched down and found some cover.

I peered down the street to try and see what was going on but I didn't see anything. Tophat was right there with me. She was crouched down behind me, and now she really was hugging my backside. Her left hand wrapped around my waist and was gently placed right under my stomach. Her chest was resting on my back. I could feel her warm breathe on my neck as we waited. I could feel her heartbeat on my back and it was moving faster than a minigun. I stopped paying attention to what was going on down the road and felt the warmth of Tophat against me. My eyes closed for a moment as her breathe continued to go against my skin.

The feeling felt like heaven but it came to an abrupt end as a loud gunshot rang throughout the night and the sound echoed down the streets. As the shot happened Tophat and I both jumped from being startled. Her left hand jumped from my waist to my breast, I fell backward from behind startled and was ontop of her. All of my weight was pressed down on her. We laid there for a second before I rolled off of her.

I didn't have time to ask her if she was okay. A huge gun battle erupted in the streets. I couldn't even tell who we were shooting at. There was at least ten men down the street shooting our direction. Nells continued to fire popshots down the street. Luce sprinted back towards us and grabbed my by the arm.

"What the FUCK are you two doin'! Get your skanky asses down there and start killing! This ain't time to be finger banging Miss Rotten Crotch! Holy shit!" His frustration was very apparent as he was yelling at the top of his lungs to get us to start fighting. I raised my pistol and fired off several shots blindly as I rushed forward to be with Nells. Tophat and Luce went to the opposite side of the street and opened fire as well. This 50/50 gunfight went on for nearly half an hour before our opponents turned tail and ran.

Nells swiftly rushed down the street and we all followed suite to catch up to him. Nells stopped dead in his tracks and so did we.

"What is it?" Luce called out towards him.

"Mines." Nells replied back quietly. "All over." He sighed. "It was a trap." Just as he said that a gunshot rang out from the direction they just fled to. Blood sprayed over the street, covering Luce, Tophat and myself with blood spots as Nells head left his neck and flew in the air past me. My eyes widened as the head passed my own. Nells body dropped to its knees and fell forward.

"Oh shit...!" Luce yelled out. An explosion put me on my ass and my ears started to ring. Nells body set off a mine when it fell.

"Tophat!" Luce shouted out, "Grab her and get the fuck outta' here! And don't step on any fucking mines!" Luce ordered her as he raised his assault rifle towards the direction the shot came from. It erupted as he sent lead down the street.

I felt myself getting tugged on so I looked up. "Come on Candy! Get up! Let's go!" Tophat screamed at me, a mixture of anger and fear on her face and in her tone. My eyes lowered back down on Nells now tattered corpse.

Luce dropped a clip out of his rifle and started reloading. It all seemed slow motion now. Tracers flew down the street. Lighting up the darkness. I slowly got myself on my feet and walked over to Nells' body. The bloody mess that was Nells covered the street. I reached down and picked up his .32 rifle and pulled the bolt back. I looked up and saw one of the bastards scurrying around in one of the windows in a building. So I raised the rifle, took aim and pulled the trigger. Everything continued to seem like it was in slow motion as the bullet ripped through the air and planted itself right in the cranium of the bastard. His friend saw the same thing we just saw happened to ours. Somehow, I didn't feel bad for Nells. So many years in the Waste made it hard to feel sympathy for anyone.

I pulled the bolt of the rifle back again and forward, loading the next round. I repeated my actions, killing another. And another. And another. Soon I was out of ammunition. But it was okay... it was quiet now. No one was shooting.

I came back to reality and noticed I was still standing above Nells' corpse. Luce walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head to see his face. He was shocked. "Why... why didn't you tell us you could shoot like that?"

I shook my head at him. "I didn't know I could." I replied back as my grip on the rifle loosened. I turned and found Nells' head. His spinal cord was hanging out where his neck should be. There was a wound on his forehead where the snipers bullet went through. "Hmm..." I said out loud as I put it in my pack.

"Let's loot these bodies and head back to the Super Duper." Luce said. He changed our mission. We took what we could from all the bodies and headed back. We left Nells' body in the middle of the street. With a mine underneath him. Anybody that tries to loot his body with get a nice surprise."
