Chapter 2
Consequences
(vanilla)
Colette woke up cramped and achy all over. Someone, probably Sheena, had draped a blanket across the three of them some time during the night; three warm bodies had kept them quite toasty in the cool autumn night. The sun was entirely too bright on the surface of the water. Wait…last night?!
Oh no, we were drinking! Oh no, we all started kissing! Oh no! Sheena told Lloyd she loves him! OH NO!!! I told them BOTH I love them!
She glanced over at the other two, snoring away happily. As carefully as she could she got up and went down to the little estuary to wash the morning taste and cottony feeling out of her mouth. The brackish water wasn’t much better, though. Her head was pounding as she sat down and tried to think.
How did I get into this mess… Despite what Rodyle had said, the Chosen was pure in any significant sense of the word. She had a heart big enough to hold the entire world, just as a Chosen should. Her 8 companions all were precious to her, but none more so than the two who lay sleeping a few hundred yards away. She had known for a long time that she was in love with Lloyd. Her greatest fear after failure in her task had been that he didn’t return her feelings.
That was before she met Sheena. The beautiful offworld ninja girl, after abandoning her mission to kill the Chosen, had become one of her best friends. They had risked their lives together and for each other over and over again in the struggle against Cruxis. But Colette had always been wary of the older girl. It started out just because of her looks. Sheena was exotic and sophisticated. She also had those two magnificent magnets up front that drew every male eye to her. The longer the group was together, though, the more Colette feared something deeper was at stake. Lloyd wasn’t simply attracted to Sheena, the way Zelos was; the blonde girl could all but see her best friend and the new girl falling in love with each other.
Even then it was more complicated. Running directly contrary to jealousy, Colette herself began to have feelings that surprised and confused her. She was thrilled each new morning at seeing Sheena in almost the same way as upon seeing Lloyd. And the girl was very happy at the thought of just the three of them journeying together.
So last night when she had seen Sheena kissing Lloyd, and Lloyd kissing back, for a brief and terrible moment she knew her heart was breaking, that the choice had been made, and that she had lost.
The kisses that followed were like Raine’s Resurrection spell. Kissing Sheena electrified her; kissing Lloyd felt as natural as breathing. How DID I get into this mess…

Sheena felt something stir beside her, and she lazily opened her eyes. Oh, it’s just Lloyd, she thought, and snuggled against him, closing her eyes again. It’s Lloyd! She sat bolt-upright, bits of memory coming back to her. She glanced down at herself. Well, I’m still dressed, so things didn’t get too far, she told herself. The black-haired girl swayed, her hand on her forehead. “Damn hangovers,” she muttered.
She stretched, a beautiful sight had anyone been awake to appreciate it, which didn’t happen nearly enough as far as she was concerned. “Guess I should find Colette, we need to talk,” she said to herself, and stood up unsteadily, walking out of the camp, tucking the blanket back over Lloyd.

In the cool morning, Lloyd felt the lack of warmth of the two departures. “Oww, my head,” he groaned. Then memory flooded back. He sat in shock for a minute, then threw back his head and shouted, “I am the MAN!”

A/N: I'm working on chapter 3, but I really wanted to get this out before the sequel comes out later this year. As I said in the intro, nobody's gonna be getting thrusty for a while. Will you have the patience to endure it?
