A Sliver of Fate
Heh heh, yea I’ve been really busy lately so this is why I haven’t been really updating or working on the fic in general. I recently found out that I have hyperparathyroidism. (try saying that 5 times fast) basically it’s a disease where one of my parathyroids has turned into a benign tumor causing the calcium levels in my blood to skyrocket which can lead to osteoporosis and if left alone long enough both colon cancer and breast cancer (I’m a guy so the last one would be kind of weird if I developed it). The disease also causes severe memory loss and loss of concentration along with exhaustion and depression. (How fun.) So I’ve been busy dealing with that and I should be going into surgery in about 2 weeks so I wanted to at least get the first real chapter up.

Chapter 1: A Sliver of Fate.
“Oh dear god!” shouted a shocked Kairi as she ran up to the bleeding man.
‘That voice……sounds…familiar….’ Thought the man as he stared at the blurred figure in front of him before he finally succumbed to his body’s demands to black out.
As he opened his eyes he squinted as the sight of the bright sun attacked his senses. He then finally looked around at his surroundings he noticed he was lying in a hospital bed with and I.V. drip attached to him along with a heart rate monitor.
‘How did I get here?’ thought the man as he then sat up as he heard someone entering the room.
“You just seem to be filled with surprises. The fact that your even breathing right now is a miracle in itself, yet the fact that you’re awake is just astounding.” Said a man who appeared to be the doctor as he wore a long white doctor’s robe. The doctor himself had blonde spiky hair and electric blue eyes that were hidden slightly behind his square shaped glasses that had a black frame.
“Heh, well I’ve always healed quite fast….uh doctor….?” Said the man
“Strife. And may I ask you what your name is?” questioned Dr. Strife.
“The name is Sora…….just Sora.” Said a rather crestfallen Sora.
After writing something down on his clipboard Dr. Strife began to check Sora’s vitals. He then went and looked over Sora’s charts with a very pensive look on his face.
“Well Sora, Despite having three bullets in your back and severe blood loss just last night, according to these most recent charts and what I’ve observed just now, you should be able to leave in about a day or so.” Said Dr. Strife.
“That’s good to hear.” Said Sora with a small smile on his face.” By the way… would you happen to know exactly how I got here?”
“If I remember correctly a young woman was here yesterday right after we removed the bullets. She wanted to visit you but we told her to come back tomorrow.” Said Dr. Strife.
“Thanks…. I guess.” Said Sora as Dr. Strife just nodded lightly before leaving the room.
A couple of hours later, Sora was sitting in his hospital bed looking out the window as the sun had just started to set as it covered the sky with an amber-like hue. Just then Sora heard someone entering the room. As he turned to see who had entered he saw a woman who looked to be in her early to mid twenties, she had shoulder length hair that had a shade of color somewhere between red and maroon, she also had blue eyes that are reminiscent of a clear blue summer sky.
“So I see you’re awake.” Said the woman with a cheerful voice.
“Uh…. I don’t mean to be rude…but… who are you?” said a perplexed Sora as he nervously scratched the back of his head.
“Oh, sorry. My name is Kairi Nomura; I was the one who found you in the alley last night.” Replied Kairi.
“Well then thank you. I guess this now means I owe you my life.” Said Sora as he chuckled nervously. “Though honestly……. Why did you help me?” asked Sora with a saddened look on his face.
“That’s a pretty dumb question. I mean you had three bullets in your back, I’d have to be a pretty evil person to just ignore someone like that.” Replied Kairi. ‘Evil like a certain dickwad fiancé who’s name I won’t mention.’ Thought Kairi.
“Is something wrong? Because you have a look on your face that tells me something’s bothering you.” Said Sora.
“Thanks for asking but I assure you I’m fine. But why would you even bother to ask someone why they helped you?” asked a confused Kairi.
“That’s simple really…… no matter what you do for people all they care about in the end is themselves.” Replied Sora with a sarcastic looking smile on his face.
“That’s not true! There are plenty of people out in the world who are good and considerate.” Said a slightly angry Kairi.
Just then Kairi heard a dark sounding laugh behind her. As she turned around she saw a man walk into the room. The man was wearing a black suit with a white button up shirt with a black tie and black leather dress shoes. He had very light brown hair that had wavy spikes, and ice blue eyes.
“I hate to tell you this girl, but you’re preaching that shit of yours to the wrong guy. He’s far beyond jaded when it comes to other people “said the man with a cocky smirk as he began to approach Kairi and Sora.
“Get the hell out of here Roxas!” shouted a pissed off Sora.
“Come on. I can’t even visit my own cousin while he’s in the hospital.” Said a hurt looking Roxas.
“I mean it Roxas! Get the fuck out of here!” shouted Sora again.
“Fine. I’m going.” Said Roxas as he then turned around and began to walk out of the room as he then stopped at the doorway. “oh and before I go, the boss requests your presence.” Said Roxas before he finally left the room.

Yea another very short….short chapter. I’ve began to realize, the longer I work on a story the crappier it gets. That could be since I’m a very lazy writer with A.D.D. Also if anyone has any ideas for this fic please share them cause I’ve kind of hit a brick wall. Basically I intended this fic to be either a dark fallen angel kind of fic or a dark vampire kind of fic. Based off what I’ve written so far it’s probably hard to tell though. Also the reason why Cloud is a doctor is because I could easily see him using Omnislash on his patient while performing open-heart surgery. Well hopefully I’ll get the next chapter up sooner then I did with this one.
