Chapter two

Dunkan heard Bobby crying for Toby to stop, and then he heard the gun shot. Spurring his old chestnut mare to go even faster, he knew that it wasn't going to be good. He could only hope that Toby and Lina were okay. But when he rounded the bend heading towards his home, he could see that it was worse then anything he could imagine. First he saw Bobby Jenner, staring into the sky, with a bullet hole between the blue orbs, then he saw the Jenner home a blaze with Tal Jenner torn to shreds on the ground a few feet away. Then he saw the unimaginable. His beautiful little boy, lying very still with his little head crushed flat. Dunkan could not believe that this was happening to his family, and with a cry of sorrow and rage, he grabbed the two handed sword from his horse's saddle and charged the horde contingent. Knowing that this was suicide, he longed only for revenge, he momentarily forgot about Lina.

Lina was startled awake when she heard her father's anguished cry, and shot up to look out the window. She saw her father grab his old sword from the saddle and charge the group of horde standing outside the Jenner's home. She banged on the window trying to get his attention but to no avail. Dunkan Darkmoore was lost in grief and rage, and the warrior ran head long into to death. She watched as Dunkan crashed into the orc that killed Toby and Bobby and the two men's weapons clashed. The orc's axe was a huge star shaped thing that looked like it was made for maximum pain and damage. Her father dodged the first attack but she could see the mage start to chant a fire blast spell that was aimed for her father. Once he had dodged the orc's first attack, Dunkan knocked the axe out of the orc's hands, only to be blasted by the fire spell. Lucky for him, the spell only grazed him, but he was dazed and could only watch the horde come toward where he lay prone.

Dunkan tried to get up but was still out of it from the fire blast. The orc that he had been fighting with picked up his axe and stalked over to where Dunkan lay. He ordered his troops to tie Lina's father's arms and legs to four mounts and proceeded to draw and quarter Dunkan. Lina couldn't stand by and watch anymore. She ran to her father's gun closet, grabbing the old gun and the shots that were left in the bag, thankful that her father made her learn to shoot the damned thing. "It's in case of an emergency, Lina. I'm not always going to be here to protect you and your brother...." She remembered him saying one the first day of her training with the gun. Making sure, that the gun was loaded, Lina ran out into the road to try to save her father.

When she got outside, Lina could see that the situation was worse than she thought. She could see the smoke coming from both Kilpatrick home steads and knew that she was the only one left to save her father. She swung around to take aim at the closest horde, which was one of the giant tauren , but couldn't get even one shot off. The mage saw her come out of the house and blasted her with a frost blot, dazing her and thus slowing her movements. Her shot went wild and she was knocked off of her feet by one of the foot soldiers.

Pinned and dazed, Lina thought that death awaited her. But the lead orc saw that she was a very pretty little thing, and got a better idea. He walked over to where she lay and tore open her dress, to inspect her a little more. Pinching one of her nipples and liking what he saw, he decided that his troops deserved a reward for a job well done and that Lina would make a very good fuck toy. He ordered the foot soldier that knocked her down to take her indoors. The soldier grabbed her by the hair, causing her to scream in pain, and dragged her to the only remaining homestead standing: her home. He threw her onto her father's bed, which was the largest in the house and tore her dress the rest of the way off of her body.

Once Lina realized what was going to happen to her she started to really fight. She managed to squirm away from the orc that took her clothes off and grabbed the chamber pot on the floor, beside the bed. She smashed the orc in the face with it and for a moment wished it was full of piss, if only for a little revenge. She would rather die then to let them rape her, and she wasn't going to lay there and just let them have their way. She didn't expect it to do much, but was surprised when the pot knocked the orc out cold. She made for the window in her father's room, climbed out and ran for the forest behind her father's home. Naked as the day she was born, with no weapons and no food. She managed to grab a thin blanket off of the clothesline as she ran for the forest. Lina didn't know what was in store for herself, but she was free for now. She ran until she couldn't run any more.

She came to a small pond that she recognized from when she was younger and her father would take her fishing with him. She remembered that there was a cave that they would explore, when they would come on those days. That is where she hid. Naked, cold from the still wet blanket, hungry and heartbroken, Lina passed into an exhausted sleep, where she was haunted in her dreams by her father, Toby and all of their family friends.

" Why Lina? Why didn't you save us?!? You selfish girl! You should be here in death with us!........" the dead cried to her.

" No!! I tried, I really did, but they were too strong. I'm sorry! I'm sorry....." Lina cried in her fretful sleep.
