ah well
another one of my fics with time skips *shakes head* i can't help myself

The millennia moved on slowly, and Sparda and Mundus’ power grew stronger, and threats from hell were none existent, the two realms appeared to be at peace, if only things were as they appeared to be.
Sparda held his younger lover close, as he was the first to wake, as usual; not that he minded, he enjoyed the luxury of having nothing to do but watch his lover’s sleeping face. As quicksilver eyes opened, Sparda smiled soft and kissed the younger devil softly on the lips and brought up a hand to brush the stray strands of ebony hair from his face.
“Was wondering when you were going to wake,” he commented with a smile.
Mundus shrugged a little, “Its too good just lying here, great idea of yours to hide away from Alastor and Ifrit for a little while. Even though they will find us and make us regret it.”
Sparda nodded, “Yes, but right now, I don’t care, we never get time alone anymore.”
Mundus rolled them over and pinned Sparda, “We should make the most of it then,” he grinned and kissed him deep.
Sparda returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around his younger lover, opening his mouth to permit Mundus’ tongue entrance and stroked the slick muscle with his own. He rolled over so their positions changed and started slowly kissing down his body teasingly.
The door crashed open and a very unimpressed Alastor stood glaring at them darkly, “Do you realise how long I have been trying to search for you?” he scowled at them.
“Since you realised we had gone?” Sparda offered, rolling over and sitting up, his arms still wrapped around Mundus.
“Glad to see you are actually using the cover spells I taught you, but not against me,” he fumed.
“Calm down,” Sparda sighed, “Its not lie anything happened…” he trailed off seeing Alastor’s expression, “what happened?”
Then it dawned on them, “Where is Ifrit?” Mundus asked, noticing the fire devil was not with him.
“Beowulf defeated him in battle, he put his soul into his weapons, and the gauntlets were taken away.”
“Why didn’t you stop him?” Sparda demanded, outraged.
Alastor sighed, “Beowulf challenged Ifrit, you know that an outsider cannot interfere when challenges are announced for a particular person,” he looked between them, a moment, “I have a feeling that Haures is close to breaking the wards, he sent Beowulf, no doubt to see what the situation here is before he attacks.”
“so it was good that we were not there,” Mundus stated, trying to hide that he was shaken by the news of Haures sending lackeys, no doubt for him.
“Maybe this once, but I will kill you both myself if you try it again.” Alastor threatened.
Sparda only laughed, “You say that every time, it is loosing its novelty.”
Alastor just glared, “Get dressed, you two are going to train so hard for slacking off like this.”
The two young devils looked to each other a moment before grinning slightly, Alastor shook his head, not caring about the joke he had obviously missed out on, and waited until they were dressed before taking the two back home.

Alastor walked impatiently in front of the lovers as they started acting worse than infatuated hatchlings; however as soon as the door opened, all sense of joviality was lost as Haures turned to them, a dark smirk on his face.
Mundus paled instantly and could not help but hide behind Sparda, no matter what, Haures would always scare him shitless, until he was able to do nothing but hide and take whatever Haures did to him.
Alastor was thrown through the wall of the house and down the cliff it was on, no doubt where several demon guards were waiting for him. Sparda growled softly, remembering Haures was a telekinetic, which made the fighting more one sided. He stood in front of Mundus, his own sword drawn, in a futile attempt to defend them both. He was soon thrown across the room and his own sword was pulled from his grip before it levitated above him a moment, then proceeded to stab into him while he was pinned to the ceiling.
“No,” Mundus yelled and moved to Haures, knocking him away, and broke his concentration, allowing Sparda to fall to the floor, and was impaled on his sword, blood spraying around as he hit the floor; Mundus stared in shock as the figure of the one he loved lay still on the floor. He sank down in the blood to Sparda’s side and held him close, cradling the bloody head in his lap. “No,” he whispered, his fingers running through the older devil’s blood soaked hair and looked at the sword embedded in his heart. He carefully started to pull it out but stopped as soon as he heard a soft pained groan escape Sparda’s lips and he just held him. “I’m sorry,” he whispered softly.
Sparda looked up to him with glazed eyes and a shaky hand touched his face, leaving a bloody print on the pale cheek and he gave the younger a small weak smile before falling limp in his arms.
Haures smirked to himself, this was too perfect, he moved to his son’s side and hauled him up, “You see what happens to those that try to defy me?” he said, making the younger take in Sparda’s still form in more detail, “And it is your fault that this happened, had you not left with them, I would not have needed to search for you, and they would not have died.”
Mundus looked to him a moment, “No…he…he tried to defend me…” he said softly, sounding like a small hatchling again.
“Yes, and look where it got him. Dead. You are mine little wretch, be lucky that I would want to claim you, no one else would want such worthless scum.”
“Sparda…” Mundus started.
Haures backhanded him hard, sending him sprawling across the floor, skidding in Sparda’s blood and he tripped over the body, “He is dead boy, and the sooner you accept it, the easier it will be for you.” He pulled him up by is hair again, “Now are you going to behave like a good little boy for me?” he asked, digging his claws into the younger’s skull, “Or am I going to have to force you into compliance?”
“I-I-I’ll behave,” Mundus said quickly, his old fears taking over again.
Haures smirked, “Good, however for you are going to have to be taught a painful lesson for defying me in the first place,” he said, his voice laced with delight at the thought of causing his son more pain. He threw the terrified devil to the floor again before opening a portal and glaring at him.
All past thoughts of the freedom he had mere hours ago quickly wiped from his mind, there was no need for such painful reminders, he thought to himself as he obediently walked through the portal and returned to hell.
~*~*~
Sparda watched through pain lidded eyes as Mundus gave up and followed Haures through the portal; he choked back a groan, there was no chance of getting his lover back now. He just hoped that Haures did not damage him too badly, until he was able to go to hell and bring him back, with those thoughts he gave in to the beckoning world of unconsciousness.
Alastor walked back up the cliff, he had barely managed to kill the demons that had attacked him, but he did, and barely escaped with his life. He froze at the door seeing the state of the room and moved to Sparda to find the younger devil was barely alive; he pulled out the protruding sword and cast several strong healing spells, hoping that they would be enough and he wasn’t too late. To his gratefulness, it did appear that Sparda was healing faster, but the magnitude of the spell left him drained of energy as he too joined his younger companion in the comfort of nothingness.
