Chapter Seven

Zaba was sure that they would be found along the road to Silverpine Forest, but they has a very uneventful trip. Aside from the odd bear or worgen wondering around, they were left unmolested. Finally coming to the end of their journey, Zaba took Lina to the small clearing that they would build their home in. They set up a crude camp for the night and went to sleep, both being too tired to set up the evening meal.

The following morning, Lina rose before Zaba, which had become their habit. She would rise early, getting breakfast started and practicing her newly learned hunting skill. Her advancement had been slow, as being a hunter did not come naturally for her, since she was human. Every new skill she learned was a hard fought battle, won only after many defeats. She was determined to learn to be a hunter. She wanted to be a helpful partner for Zaba, she wanted to make him proud.

She was just about to go hunting for a rabbit for the mornings breakfast, when she felt as though she was being watched. Peering into the brush, she thought she saw a shadow moving around. Fearing that it was a death guard from the city of Sepulcher, she turned and ran back to the camp and shook Zaba awake. “I saw something in the bush! “ She spoke in a breathless hush. Then added, “I didn't stay to see who or what it was.”

Zaba growled in a low tone, pissed at being woken up for something other than a hot bowl of Lina's stew. He summoned Tibol and told him to stay and keep watch over Lina. Taking up his gun and axe he stalked off in the direction that Lina had pointed in. Looking back over his shoulder at the pretty girl, he told her to stay put. “Wait here, Lina. I'll be back...” He strode off to investigate what Lina thought she saw.

The shadowy figure that Lina thought she saw was not there when Zaba came to the brush. Upon closer investigation he did see some broken branches and some strange tracks in the dirt. They looked like they could have been boot prints, but had been swept to muddle the tracks. Not wanting to take any chances, Zaba decided not to go to town that day for supplies. Instead he would they would stay in the little cramped tent for a couple of days until he was sure it was safe again to leave Lina alone for a while.

They spent the next two days, hunting together, and keeping watch. Zaba was impressed with Lina's tenacity at learning something that didn't come naturally for her, and admired her when she was in action. She had tried several times, unsuccessfully, to tame a mottled worg and got a nasty scratch from a bear that didn't take kindly to having his meal disturbed. She wasn't to be deterred though. She was hell bent and determined to become a hunter. Zaba admired her tenacity.

After day three, Zaba felt it was safe enough to go to town. He was sure that whatever was in the bush that morning, was not coming back. Leaving Tibol to keep watch over Lina and the camp, Zaba left for Sepulcher.

Zaba arrived in Sepulcher, moving quickly he went from vendor to vendor, buy up as many supplies he could cart back to their camp. He bought nails, hammer and a saw to cut down trees to make a small log cabin for Lina and him to live in. When he would think of his little human girl a smile spread across his face, making him seem a little like a lunatic who smiles for no reason at all.

He noticed some nice pots and pans, and thought of the great food Lina could cook for him in them and purchased them. He was engrossed in looking for more cook wear for Lina, when he felt a great slap on his back. Turning angrily to confront the stupid oaf that hit him, he was taken aback when he saw that the great oaf was none other than Jukfel.

“Zaba! How are you, friend? I haven't seen you in weeks. What have you been doing with yourself, hiding in a cave, you big coward?” Jukfel said companionably enough. “You missed out a great payday in the Alterac Mountains. The battle was fearsome, for the puny Alliance that is.” Jukfel gave Zaba a sly wink. “Kind of like that tiny group of farms we sacked the last time I saw you.”

Zaba recovered quickly from the shock of seeing Jukfel in Sepulcher, and gave a half hearted punch to the big orc's arm. “Hey Jukfel! Fancy meeting you here. Sorry I missed out on all the fun, but I ah... I was missing my mother and decided to go shopping for a few gifts to bring home to her.”

“Ah ya pantywaist! I was missing me Mommy!” Jukfel said in a mocking voice.” You could have seen your family anytime, you missed out a great payday.” He went on to say , then poked him in the chest to make his point. “Say! Why don't you come have a drink with me? I'll tell you all about the battle.”

Zaba wasn't sure what to do. He wanted to get back to Lina quickly but knew that if he left now, Jukfel would see that he's not leaving in the right direction for the zeppelin, to go back to the Barrens, where he knew that Zaba's mother lived. He tried to think fast, and couldn't come up with a good enough excuse to take his leave. Figuring that if he could try to stay somewhat sober, then he could give Jukfel the slip when he got completely torched.

“Sure I'll come have a few drinks with ya!” He said with a fake smile plastered across his face, clapping Jukfel on the shoulder. Zaba made is purchases then left the store ahead of Jukfel, not seeing the evil smile that was spreading across his face.

At the camp, Lina was keeping busy by training and trying to keep Tibol happy. The big wolf acted like a big whimpering baby when his master was not around, though really he just liked the attention that Lina gave him. She fed him extra when he whined. She pet him when he whined. She did everything for him when he whined. This made him a happy wolf, but all the attention that she gave him distracted him from what he was supposed to be doing and that was guarding his master's female. He didn't notice the undead woman when she entered the perimeter of the camp.

It was all too late when she turned the big wolf into a sheep. Lina had just enough time to pull up her gun and shoot one wild shot, and missed her target by a wide margin. She recognized the undead mage once she cast her frost bolt, but Lina had been training so it was going to take more than a frost bolt to take her down.

Dragging herself up off the ground, shivering from the frost bolt, Lina screamed like banshee. “You! I remember you! You helped kill my family and friends! You bitch!” Lina was screaming at the undead woman in common and in Troll.

Being that she was human once, the woman understood both the troll and the common that Lina spoke, and smiled. Speaking to her in the language that she had not spoken in years, the gravely voice sounded strange speaking common. “Yes I was there... I seem to recall taking you down a lot easier before. I see that Zaba has trained you a little.” She spoke as she cast Frost Nova, freezing Lina to the spot. “But not enough...” She grinned like a mad woman and cast her last spell taking completely Lina out of the fight.

Thrown off by what the undead woman said, Lina was not prepared for the wave of flame that emanated from the undead. The Blast Wave struck her and set her a blaze. The pain was worse then any she had ever felt and she thankfully fell into darkness. Slumping to the ground as though she were dead, she had fainted.

Bending over the near comatose woman, Maryanne brushed a lock of hair from the beautiful face. “Well Jukfel better pay me well for my services today. I think that if Zaba finds out it was me that took his pretty toy, I'll really be dead.” She gave a cackling laugh at her joke and stood up. “I'm sure that Jukfel won't mind if I play with her a little before he takes her off my hands. It's not like she's a virgin anymore.” Being that she never really cared much for men, and preferred women, she licked her lips thinking of the succulent pussy she could get to play with soon.

She summoned a portal and picked up the unconscious girl and threw Lina over her shoulder. Maryanne ran a hand up the back of the girls thigh and letting it come to rest on her behind, giving it a hard squeeze. “Yes. You and I are going to have so much fun while we wait for Jukfel.” With that said Maryanne walked through the portal to the Undercity. Leaving Tibol behind scurrying around as a sheep.
