Disclaimer:
I do not own Jak and Daxter. Though I wish I did. I really do... I do own Ruean though. She my bitch. Also I do not make any profit off this story. This is just for my (and anyone who wants to read)'s enjoyment.
Chapter Thirteen
Jak ran as fast as he could. He ran to the zoomer parked outside HQ with Daxter right on his shoulder. He started it and pushed the gas to its limit. It wasn’t fast enough for him.
Ruean signed her name at the bottom of the letter. She lit up another cigarette. She was halfway through when she heard a knock. She walked up to the door and opened it. It was four Krimson Guard members and Ashelin.
Jak weaved in and out of traffic. Avoiding zoomers and KG members. He even went down to the pedestrian level to get there faster.
“Ma’am could I just bring that bag with me?” Ruean asked as they handcuffed her. Ashelin nodded and placed the bag on Ruean’s shoulder. They loaded her into the transport. Ashelin helped her in.
“You are being charged with communicating with Metal Heads and setting up an attack.”
“It’s tomorrow at sunset. The leader just told me to ready the troops they are invading the City.”
“I can’t let you stay.” Ruean sat down in the transport, Ashelin right next to her.
“I understand. The counsel and your father wouldn’t allow it. He did threaten that he would kill you, you know. That is how he found out about the tomb.” The transport doors closed and they lifted into the air.
Jak jumped off the zoomer as he saw the transport left. He stood there watching as it went over the city wall into the wasteland. Jak went inside the house. The cigarette that was left in the ashtray was still burning. He saw by the ashtray were two notes. One addressed to him the other to Daxter. Jak handed Daxter his note and sat down. He looked at the envelope that had his name written on it.
Jak,
I’m sorry that you have to read this instead of me just telling you. I told you how I can speak to metal heads. That isn’t just it. I’m the daughter of the metal head leader. I was to take his place at his death. I refused. He said I could leave if I did one last thing. I had to let the metal heads into the city. There are faults in the walls. Faults they know about. They know the eco walls are running out. That is why my father cut the deal, to slowly weaken the wall by taking the eco. This city is doomed. If you were smart you would leave now. They are attacking tomorrow. But I know you Jak. You are going to stay. You are going to fight for this city. I bet right now you are planning ways to destroy the nest. You have to fight my father. I wish you luck in your fight. Please don’t come looking for me. You’ll die before you find me.
Love,
Ruean
Jak looked up from his letter and didn’t realize the tears were seeping down his cheeks. He wiped them away, as he read through the letter. Daxter was sitting next to him. Jak glanced over and saw Daxter’s note was signed.
‘Stop blubbering and help Dark boy kick ass,
Ruean’
He smiled softly as he saw his best friend was in fact crying. He placed a hand on his back as Daxter leaned into him and cried.
“She’s gone! They sent her to the wasteland. It is death to anyone who goes there.”
“Ruean’s a fighter. She won’t let the desert stop her.” Jak looked out the window and saw the transport coming back. He got up immediately and went outside. The rain had started to come down. Ashelin came out of the transport as well as the four KG members. They went off while Ashelin stayed behind. “You let them take her.”
“I had too. I had no choice.”
“BULL SHIT!” He got right in her face. “You could have warned her! You could have told your father you couldn’t find her!” Ashelin pushed him back.
“SHE WAS SEEN COMMUNICATING WITH A METAL HEAD AND FOLLOWED HOME! My father and the council decided she was too dangerous with her Dark powers like you have and talking to metal heads.” She placed a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry Jak.” She got herself into her Hellcat Cruiser and flew off. Jak stood outside and allowed the rain to pour on him, his tears mixing with the rain.
End…..?
Dear Readers,
Yes I know you are probably like, OH MY GOD SHE IS ENDING IT THERE!? JUST LIKE THAT?!? WHAT THE FUCK?! Well just so you know that is what the question mark is for. To let you know it isn’t really the end. I am going to continue this story in The Freak and the Thief 2. I’m still thinking on what the second title should be. You will know what it is when you read it. It will still have The Freak and the Thief in it so you’ll find it. So please, don’t get too mad at me. I’m going to write like two or more chapters up before posting it. I want to get the flow right.
Sincerely
The Secret Immortal.
P.S. I understand if you get mad. I was kind of pissed at myself but I can’t think of anything more to write for this. I might update it later but for now all that is going through my mind is wasteland scenes for TFTT. XP.
