Harley: Hmmm… Froggy has the dandy idea of taking this into a series. But we’d need for Shadow to survive. Why do we need Shadow to be in the sequel? Because I’m having fun playing the raving lunatic!
Froggy: It’s a damn shame Harley hasn’t decided yet. Coming up - less wanker-Sonic, and more psychotic Shadow!

Chapter Eleven: Going Round In Circles
"Chaos Control!" A blue light flared right in Amy's apartment, and Shadow dropped a few inches to the floor, still shaking slightly. Pregnant! Amy was pregnant! And it was his fault... He already had conflicting emotions in his mind - kill them or let them live? That was what he was here to decide. He started stomping around the apartment, shouting out, "Amy! Amy, where are you!" After investigating the kitchen briefly and finding it empty, he started to get angry, and snatched up a bread knife, "Amy! Get here now!"
Little did he know that Amy was in the same room, hidden in a cabinet under the sink. The pink hedgehog trembled in a little ball, a meat cleaver clutched in her shaking hands, trying to be as quiet as possible. He came back for her. Somehow, she knew he would. She fought back the urge to whimper, letting a tear roll down her cheek soundlessly. She was so stupid to come back here, she thought. It would have been safer if she stayed neared Sonic... but it was too late for that now. She had to hope that the crazed experiment would leave in frustration. She could defend herself, of course. Asides from the knife, she had a can of mace, a taser, and her trusty mallet in her dress... but she couldn't fool herself. This was Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Lifeform. He destroyed platoons of soldiers without breaking a sweat, he totalled military mechs with ease, and he crushed giant chaos-wielding monsters given the time. She didn't stand a chance. She couldn't get it out of her head how he had dominated her, held her down, used her like a plaything... Closing her eyes, she thought over and over again, Please go away...
"Amy!" Shadow was shouting louder, "Amy, I know you're here! You wouldn't go out late at night now, would you?" his voice took on a malicious edge, and he left the kitchen to search the entire house. Amy could hear him breaking things as he searched for her. Anybody determined enough to hunt down the Chaos Emeralds wouldn't worry about stripping the apartment right down to the wallpaper. The noises of things breaking started up again - this time it sounded like glass. Shadow was smashing the picture frames in the living room, "AMY!" he screamed out again.
Part of her wanted to move, to try to sneak out of the apartment, to get to the phone and call for help, but she was too frightened to move. She clutched her makeshift weapon harder and shook uncontrollably, the tears coming faster now. Shadow would find her. With the way he was tearing her apartment up, it was only a matter of time. And when he did, it was going to happen all over again. The rape, the beatings, the humiliation and helplessness... Ohgodohgodohgod...
He wasn't giving up though. He stamped his way around the house again. Amy could hear him slamming open cupboards and drawers. She heard him return to the kitchen, opening every cupboard, tipping out jars and cans onto the floor. Then he opened her cupboard. His crazed red eyes blinked at her a couple of times, and then he reached in and grabbed her by her right arm, so that she couldn't attack him with the knife she was holding, dragging her out. It wasn't easy.
"No! No! NO!!" Amy screamed in terror, clinging to the inside of the cabinet as hard as she could, struggling to get out of the hedgehog's grasp. Tucking her feet in, she lashed out, kicking Shadow in the face once, twice, three times, and spraying him in the face with the mace.
"SHIT!" Shadow shouted, his nose bleeding heavily and his eyes stinging madly. He let go of her arms and started to rip apart the cabinet. Eventually there was nothing for Amy to hide in. He pulled her out and threw her to the floor, pinning her down and looking straight at her. There was a horrible silence for a long moment. He didn't look like he had last time. The demons had changed, but they were no less dangerous for all that, "Amy," he said softly, the bread knife against her neck, "Is it true?" he asked, blood from his nose dripping onto her.
Amy cried out and drove the taser into Shadow's chest, watching as he jolted. It didn't have the same affect as on a normal person, but his grip loosened and she started to twist again, "Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" she sobbed, squeezing her eyes closed against the dripping blood. She squirmed in Shadow's grip, but she might as well have been struggling against iron clamps.
"Is it true?!" Shadow shouted, trembling, "Did I get you pregnant?!"
This wasn't what she’d wanted or dreamed of. She thought that Sonic would finally admit his feelings for her, and that they'd both settle down and have a family... but no, what she got was Shadow's rape child, and now she was going to die horribly on her kitchen floor. Forcing her watering eyes open, staring into crimson orbs straight from hell, she fearfully whimpered, "Yes... yes..."
There was another ominous silence; Shadow was trembling so hard that he could barely keep the knife from cutting Amy's throat, "This is awful," he moaned, "Another of me... no, this is good," his expression hardened, "A permanent reminder!" He gritted his teeth, "No... yes..." undecided, he started to pull Amy's skirt off, tearing it as he did so.
"Nooooo..." Amy moaned, her feet moving as she tried to close her legs, tried to kick Shadow away, tried to do anything. She couldn't go through this again, "Not again, please!" she begged, "Please, Shadow! Just let me go! Please..."
But Shadow didn't seem interested in raping her - not right now, anyway. The knife still brushing against her throat, he looked very hard at her waistline. Of course it was far too early for anything to show up right now, but he stared hard at it anyway, and then to Amy's horror, moved the knife away from her throat and held it over her belly, his hand shaking.
Her belly quivered as the cold steel came in contact with it. Amy's eyes grew wider, if that were even possible, a million horrible scenarios running through her mind, He's totally insane! He's going to cut me open! Oh please, god, no! "SOMEONE HELP ME!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs desperately. Who could, though? Who was a match for Shadow? Her Sonic could stop him, she knew that, but where was he when she needed him the most?
"No..." Shadow mumbled finally, moving the knife away, "What I meant to say was... I'm supposed to say... You don't deserve this..." he stopped, "But Sonic does, I should have killed him! He dropped me!" He growled, deep in his throat, "And now you're mine... definitely all mine, forever..." He crawled up to look into Amy's eyes, "All the things I want to do... but I can't do them all! Not any more!"
She couldn't even being to understand his thinking. He was even crazier than the last time he had her. All she knew was that she was at his mercy, and whatever he planned to do couldn't be good, "Just let me go, please,” she whispered, her voice breaking as she held back sobs, "Just let me go... I won't tell anyone, I promise..."
"Why should I let you go?!" Shadow asked her, "You should have seen Sonic's face though... when he told me you were pregnant! I should have killed him then!"
"He never did anything to you! He never hurt anyone!" Amy cried out, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. It didn't matter what she said. She was certain that she was going to die anyway.
Shadow glared, and his expression became icy cold, "HE DROPPED ME!" he shouted, "If he hadn't done that you wouldn't have that parasite inside you right now! Don't ever say he did nothing!" But the memory of Sonic helping him back at his house, of telling him he wouldn't let him fall again, came back. To block it out, he began to strip the rest of Amy's clothes from her.
"It was an accident, you psycho!" she screamed, closing her eyes tightly, "Why can't you leave us alone?!" She squirmed harder, desperate to get away. It wasn't fair... she’d never done anything to him!
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Shadow shouted, and grabbed Amy by the hair, dragging her out of the kitchen and into the living room, throwing her onto the couch, the only place where there wasn't glass scattered everywhere.
She hit hard enough to have the wind knocked out of her. Drawing a breath sharply, fighting against the dizziness, Amy tried to crawl off the couch, tried to distance herself from the dark hedgehog.
"Oh, no you don't!" Shadow snapped, and grabbed her again, pushing her down, "Scream all you like, but if you mention the blue fake again, I'll kill you! And I might just kill you anyway!" He gritted his teeth and began to squeeze her breasts.
Amy winced in pain, whimpering softly. She almost wished that he would kill her. At least then it would be over for good. But no, she couldn't die. Not yet. Not like this, "Why?!" she moaned.
Shadow stopped and pulled away again, gripping Amy's arms tightly, "I don't know!" he wailed, "What else am I supposed to do?!" his voice became louder, more strained, "I was made as a weapon of destruction! What else can I do?!"
And that was when the door was flung open, a blue blur coming into focus. Amy's desire; Shadow's hate, "You can start by getting off of her!" Sonic yelled at his rival.
"YOU?!" Shadow shouted, "Get out or I'll kill her!" he screamed, snatching up the knife again, and hauling Amy in front of him as a shield.
"Huh! Some Ultimate Lifeform, hiding behind a girl!" Sonic taunted him, "Too afraid to face me yourself?" Amy wiggled back against Shadow, trying to keep the blade away from her throat.
Shadow glared at Sonic, and Knuckles coming up behind him. The demons howled again, "What, so should I just slit her throat and kill you both?" he growled, "Waste of some good meat though..."
"If you think you're so tough, why don't you kill us and have her all to yourself?" Sonic suggested, gambling with Amy's life. It wasn't like he had a choice; if he did nothing, Amy was surely going to die anyway. He could not allow that to happen. If this didn't work, he'd have to take more drastic measures.
Shadow's eyes darted, "You let me DROP!" he shouted, "I'll destroy everybody you ever cared about and then I'll kill you!"
"You're sick, Shadow," Knuckles spoke up, "Let her go so that I can snap every bone in your body!"
"No!" Shadow retaliated, "She's mine now! It's MY baby she's carrying!"
Sonic seemed to be the only one in control in the frightening situation, his green eyes locked angrily on his enemy, "Don't make me show you who's faster, Shadow!" he called out defiantly, drawing looks from Amy and Knuckles that suggested they believed he too had lost his mind.
"Shall we find out who's faster?!" Shadow almost howled, "Shall we find out if you can reach me before I slit her throat?!"
"Yeah!" Sonic shouted, reaching behind his back. As he drew his hand forwards again, he could see Shadow's eyes widen, seeing the grey chaos emerald clutched in his hated foe's hand, "Chaos Control!" the blue hedgehog shouted, white light flashing through the room. He had only seen this once before. After defeating a GUN mech, Shadow had taunted him by using Chaos Control to run past him, so fast that it made even Sonic look like he was moving in slow motion. Now it was his turn. Everything was a blur as Sonic ran forward, tossing the emerald into the air. He could see Amy's terrified expression frozen for the briefest instant, could see the knife descending towards her throat. He put every bit of power he could dredge up into his legs, hurrying forward, the whole universe feeling like it had turned into sap. He reached out and clutched the dark hedgehog's wrist, yanking at his iron grip, drawing the weapon away from Amy. His other hand curled into a fist and rocketed towards Shadow's face, connecting and shoving his head aside, his face contorting with the blow. As the mad experiment was thrown backwards, Sonic again reached behind his back. Time returned to normal, Shadow stumbled back, and the chaos emerald dropped neatly into Sonic's hand. Standing between the girl and her attacker, he grinned, "Told'ja so."
"BASTARD!" Shadow screamed, clutching his face. The punch had started his nose bleeding again and his jaw was really hurting, "I'LL KILL YOU!" he screamed, lifting up the knife. Disregarding everything else in the room; Knuckles, Amy, and even the Chaos Emerald in his quills, he charged, screaming, at Sonic, the knife held high, screaming like a siren, "I'llkillyoukillyoukillyoukillyou-"
"Whoa!" Sonic leapt backwards towards Knuckles, hoping that the echidna could provide some assistance. Still, the punch had done exactly what Sonic had hoped it would do: piss Shadow off beyond reasoning. That would make him sloppy. It also would also make him damn tough to take down, but hey, he couldn't have everything.
Knuckles stepped forward, eager to take on Shadow. The dark hedgehog practically threw him out of his way in his hurry to get to Sonic.
Sonic stumbled as he tried to run backwards, falling towards the floor as Shadow came at him, insane with rage. The chaos emerald, his one possibility of escape, flew out of his hands. He stared up as his enemy came at him, murder in his eyes... and that was when Amy, enraged at seeing Sonic in danger, came running up behind Shadow with her mallet in hand, smashing him over the head.
Shadow yelled out as the mallet slammed into the side of his body, sending him flying into the wall, and then landing heavily on the broken glass. He cried out again and got up, looking around him. Of course he could take them all. But... but... He clutched at his head.
"Quick, let's finish him!" Knuckles shouted.
Sonic hesitated. Now that he was over the shock of seeing Shadow, he could see just how pathetic the dark hedgehog really had become – his face was pale and drawn from lack of sleep, there were bones showing clearly from a lack of food, and jagged scars all over his body from fights, and in reality he didn’t look like the Ultimate Anything any more. To top it all off, glass from the picture frames was digging into his cheek. He reached up and pulled it out.
“What are you waiting for?” Knuckles shouted.
Sonic stood there for another indecisive second, torn between anger at and pity for the ruined hedgehog at his feet. In the end, he knew he wasn't going to kick Shadow when he was down. It wasn't his style. He had never killed anyone, and he wasn't about to start, "It doesn't have to be this way, Shadow,” he tried to reason, offering a hand to him, "We don't have to be enemies."
"Yes... we do..." Shadow looked at his own hand, stained with blood, "It has to be this way... you dropped me..." his voice was slowly becoming more and more angry.
"I didn't mean to!" Sonic told him, knowing that he only had seconds before Shadow exploded into rage again, "I tried to save you! Why do you think I did it on purpose?"
"BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T DO IT BY ACCIDENT!" Shadow screamed, and broke down into tears, "I wouldn't... not by accident... weak..."
Sonic looked down at the crying hedgehog with a hurt expression, "I'm... I'm not perfect, Shadow,” he managed to get out, "I can mess up. I have messed up, and I messed up with you. I wanted to save you, and it hurt when I failed."
"You're a LIAR!" Shadow screamed, his eyes crazed, "You don't care! Why SHOULD you?!" He stood up straight and glanced around, his eyes locking on Amy, "If you run away, I'll find you!" he all but howled, and leapt straight through the window behind him, shattering the glass and getting a few more cuts.
"DAMMIT!" Knuckles screamed, and rushed to the window, watching as Shadow fled into the darkness, "Why didn't you grab him?!" he raged at Sonic.
"I tried!" Sonic replied, meeting the enraged echidna's gaze. Knuckles was nearly out of control, and the blue hedgehog knew all too well how hard it was to calm him down. If it came down to it, Sonic was ready to beat some sense into Knuckles. He had done it before. "Where does he think he's going?" he asked, turning to the window.
Somewhere in the darkness they could hear somebody scream the words, “Chaos Control!”
"God knows now," Knuckles growled, "He's sick, he's probably gone off to hurt somebody else. Who hasn't he destroyed physically or emotionally yet?"
It was a good question. Ruling out those acquaintances and allies that Shadow had never met, he had harmed just about everyone close to him. "I'm alright,” Sonic stated, "And he's done nothing to..." The hedgehog's faced hardened into a mask of determination, hiding the terror that was worming its way through his belly, "Tails."

Froggy: Who else? You can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for Shadow, can’t you? Just a teeny, tiny bit? Oh well, you won’t soon…

"Yes... we do..." Shadow looked at his own hand, stained with blood, "It has to be this way... you dropped me..." his voice was slowly becoming more and more angry.

Harley: Oh, god… is it Tails? Is it?!
Froggy: Who else? You can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for Shadow, can’t you? Just a teeny, tiny bit? Oh well, you won’t soon…
