Chapter 1

Sora was lying on his bed, letting his eyes travel around the messy room. The boy let out a pleased sigh as the cool night wind, blowing from his open window, caressed his face. Slowly his eyelids fluttered close, and Sora got lost in his own thoughts. Images of his silver-haired friend filled his mind. 'Riku...' It had been some weeks from the day Sora had caught Riku in the Secret Place, and had received some 'guidance from the older boy. Ever since that day, the spiky-haired boy had been feeling confused. Weird feelings were bubbling inside him, all concerning Riku. And sometimes, when Sora would lie on his bed, thinking of the older boy, he'd feel a familiar ache in his lower-regions. This only made Sora feel even more confused. He didn't understand himself anymore. 'What's wrong with me?...This can't be normal...Riku's my best friend...how could I have... a crush on him?'

Sora was sure Riku didn't even remember their little meeting anymore. At least that's how his friend acted. They hadn't had a chance to be alone since the day in the Secret Place. Kairi was always with them, preventing Sora from getting a chance to talk to Riku in private. And Riku didn't even seem to notice all the meaningful looks Sora kept giving him. The silver-haired boy either ignored Sora, or just acted like he usually did. And what annoyed the brunette boy even more, was the fact that Riku seemed to get along with Kairi well; a bit too well for Sora's liking. So, Sora did the same and tried to annoy the older boy, by hogging the girl all to himself, preventing Riku from getting any time alone with Kairi. But Riku didn't seem to react to this in any particular way, this confusing and annoying Sora. Sometimes his friend would maybe narrow his emerald colour eyes, but this was all.

Sora snapped back to reality, as a small stone suddenly hit his forehead. "Ouch!! That hurt!" the spiky-haired boy moaned, rubbing his head. He noticed what had hit him and sat up on the bed. "What? Where did this come from?"

"Sora! Are you there?" a familiar voice suddenly called from outside. Sora moved and leaned against the window ledge,
looking down.

"Riku!!" the brunette boy exclaimed, sounding perhaps a bit too excited. "Hey, you hit me in the head with this!" Sora yelled, trying to look vexed. He threw the stone from his hand, but Riku dodged the flying object easily, laughing at Sora's poor aim.

"Come down?" Riku asked after a moment of silence, looking up with questioning eyes.

"I don't know... it's pretty late." Sora muttered and turned around to check the time from his alarm clock.

"Oh come on, Sora! We've hardly had any time alone... and I know you wanna come.." the older boy persuaded, giving Sora a meaningful look.

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!" Sora frowned, meeting Riku's emerald eyes which were twinkling mischievously. The older
boy didn't answer, just smiled and turned around, motioning for Sora to follow.

"Ok! Wait! I'm coming!" Sora finally decided. He climbed out through his window and jumped down on the ground, and almost fell onto his nose. He ran after Riku, frowning, when his friend just continued walking, not bothering to for him.

"Where are we going anyway?" the younger boy asked, looking up to meet Riku's eyes. There was a mysterious smile on Riku's lips as he continued to walk towards the small harbour.

"To the Paopu tree..." He finally answered as they reached their rowing-boats. The silver-haired boy jumped into his boat and offered Sora his hand. The brunette boy hesitated, narrowing his blue eyes.

"W-what are we gonna do there? At this hour?" Sora asked, not understanding his friend's intentions. Riku just raised one of his silver eyebrows, smirking at Sora. "Trust me, I'll think of something..."

Sora swallowed, suddenly feeling nervous. "I--I uh..." he stammered, avoiding Riku's gaze.

"Oh come on, Sora!" Riku finally grabbed the younger boy's hand and pulled him into the boat. He made Sora sit down in the prow and started paddling. They were quiet almost all the way to the little island. Sora kept glancing down into the dark water, as if waiting for something to come up to the surface.

"There's nothing there, Sora. Why do you look so scared?" Riku laughed, noting how Sora kept glancing around.

"I'm not scared, Riku!" the younger boy was balling his fists, annoyed by Riku's comment. "And you can't be sure there's nothing down there... it's so dark..." he continued with a lowered voice.

"You mean a monster? Like in the Secret Place?\ku jku jeered and kept rowing as they neared the small pier of Destiny Islands.

"Hey! We were kids back then, Riku! And I'm telling you, there was something there... not just the wind." Sora argued. Riku just smiled at his friend, made his way up to the pier, and secured the boat. Sora climbed up as well and followed the older boy. Riku led them to the small island where the big Paopu tree grew. The silver-haired boy climbed up to sit on the trunk. Sora stayed on the ground and eyed his friend, feeling confused, still not understanding Riku's intentions. It was dark, for the sun had already set. There was a small breeze, causing Sora to shiver. He twined his hands around himself and tried to get warm.

"Riku... I'm cold..." Sora spoke. The older boy, sitting up on the trunk, glanced down to his friend who was clattering
his teeth. Riku came to a quick decision and jumped down. He walked to Sora and pulled the younger boy close to his own body,
twining his muscled arms around Sora. The brunette boy froze and let out a small gasp.

"R-Riku... W-what are you doing?!" Sora whispered and tried to rid himself from the older boy's grip.

"You said you were cold, Sora, and so am I. We'll warm each other like this." Riku told, not allowing Sora to pull back. He made them sit down on the sandy ground, turning Sora around in his arms, so that the brunette boy was leaning against Riku's warm chest. They were both quiet. Slowly Sora started to relax in Riku's arms, feeling more comfortable. They could hear some night-bird's singing and the waves, hitting against the small Paopu-island.

"I'm not cold anymore... you can let go, Riku." Sora spoke, pulling away from Riku's arms. He turned around to face the older boy. Riku was leaning against the Paopu tree, watching Sora with his emerald eyes.

"Riku... why are we here?" Sora asked, his voice no louder than a whisper. Riku raised one brow and met Sora's blue eyes.

"I thought we could spend some time together. Just the two of us, Sora. Isn't that what you wanted?" the older boy finally spoke with a smirk on his lips, giving Sora a meaningful look.

"W-what do you mean with that!?" Sora exclaimed, narrowing his blue eyes. Riku let out a sigh, the smirk disappearing from his lips.

"I mean that you're always with Kairi these days..." Riku said, noting the sudden frown on Sora's face.

"ME? I'm with Kairi?? Riku, what are you talking about! I-I mean, it's you who's neglecting me!" Sora exclaimed, leaning closer, balling his fists. Riku narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I mean you don't even note the looks I give you... and you and Kairi are always laughing and not telling me what's so funny..." the spiky-haired boy continued, looking sulky. Riku stood up and turned around to look into the horizon. He was quiet for some time. He used his gloved fingers to stroke his long strands. After a moment, he parted his lips to speak.

"I do notice the looks you keep giving me, Sora. But you seemed to like Kairi so much...so I thought I must be imagining things." Riku spoke, not turning around to face the younger boy. Sora was frowning as Riku continued. "It's you two who are always shutting me out... Sometimes I feel like I'm a third wheel or something."

Sora got up to his feet and moved to stand behind Riku. The older boy sensed Sora was close and turned around.

"Riku... I thought you and Kairi-"

"Sora. Kairi and I are just friends; there's someone else I like." The older boy interrupted, a serious look on his face.

"Besides... She seems to like you, not me." he added and lowered his face. Sora stared at his friend with blank eyes, as Riku's words sank in, and he realized how things really were. Hesitantly he brought his hand up and forced the silver-haired boy to meet his eyes.

"I'm sorry." Sora whispered. Riku arched his brows, surprised to hear the younger boy apologise.

"What? Why?"

"I--I think I was jealous, so I tried to get Kairi's attention all to myself, so that you wouldn't get her." Sora spoke, feeling his face grow hot.was was glad it was dark, so his friend couldn't see he was blushing. Riku sighed and stroked his long silvery strands. "I already told you, Sora, she likes you, not me..." Riku looked down, surprised, when Sora suddenly took his hand into his own smaller one.

"No, Riku, that's not why I was jealous. I-I mean that..." the brunette boy let go of Riku's hand and turned around, suddenly unable to find words. He started pacing around, nervously stroking his hair. Riku just stood still and looked at his friend, feeling slightly bewildered.

"Ever since the day when we were in the S-Secret Place and... well you know, you showed me t-things..." Sora knew he was blushing furiously. Riku noted how the younger boy stuttered with his words, this causing him to smirk.

"Yes, Sora?" he urged the spiky-haired boy to continue. Sora stopped pacing and walked to stand beside his friend.

"Well, ever since that day, I've been having these weird thoughts, and... and feeling confused. I-I was jealous, because I think I have a-- a crush on you, Riku." Sora finally managed to say, now fearing the older boy's reaction. Riku felt his heart leap to his throat when hearing Sora's words. He took a deep breath, trying to retain his composure. There was a long silence between them and Sora was sure Riku hated him now. 'Why did I have to say it aloud!?' he cursed himself, but let out a surprised gasp, as he suddenly felt Riku's hand gently touch his cheek.

"Sora..." the older boy whispered, caressing Sora's cheek with his gloved hand. He forced the other boy to look up and meet his emerald eyes. Sora blinked his blue eyes, feeling surprised and slightly confused when Riku pulled him into his arms.

"What? I thought you-" Sora whispered, looking up into Riku's eyes.

"Sora, you ape! Don't you realize I feel the same! I like you too." the silver-haired boy laughed and poked Sora in the chest. The brunette boy blinked his eyes, a wide smile slowly spreading onto his face.

"Y-you do?" he exclaimed.

"Yeah... for as long as I can remember, Sora." Riku whispered and held the younger boy tightly in his muscled arms. Sora smiled at him, giving Riku more confidence. He brought his hand up from Sora's hips and gently cupped the brunette boy's face, leaning closer. The younger boy realized Riku's intention and closed his eyes, waiting for his first kiss. Sora sighed as he finally felt Riku press his warm lips against his, causing shivers to run up his spine. The kiss was gentle and a bit hesitant, and ended sooner than Sora wanted. Riku broke the kiss and pulled back. He inspected the look on the younger boy's face, feeling happy when Sora gave him a shy smile. Riku was sure he saw Sora blush, as the spiky-haired boy parted his lips to speak.

"Riku... Will you-- Will you teach me more?" Sora whispered with a shy voice, and lowered his flushed face. Riku raised his brows, slightly surprised, but soon gave his answer, by uniting his lips with Sora's once again.
