Tainted Eyes

His spiky brown hair threatened to fall in his face as he sat facing the silver-haired boy. Their eyes were locked on each other. Sora reached up to move his fallen brown locks from his deep blue eyes, never letting his gaze leave Riku’s. He realized that Riku didn’t even seem to shift or breathe, and that his sea-green eyes looked as though they weren’t even focused on him. Shallow breathes were barely audible around them as the others watched the two.

Sora kept his eyes where they were, not backing down.

But-- But what was that just now? A flash of gold? A light? Something was reflecting in Riku’s eyes, but from where?

Sora continued to ponder this meaningless train of thought to keep his mind distant.

Why doesn’t it hit the rest of his face? Is someone shining something in his eyes? Why isn’t he blinking? Someone is playing a trick, but he isn’t falling for it. It’s almost as though… the light were inside of him….

Sora leaned closer without realizing it, for now what began as meaningless thoughts were slowly turning into tense curiosities. He leaned in, not realizing what was happening.

A light…. Bright…. I can’t look away. But this is stupid… it’s just a reflection. But….

His mouth hung open just slightly as he stared into Riku’s eyes. Sora’s eyes narrowed, then widened to get a closer look. He finally snapped back to reality when he felt Riku’s breath on his skin. He was just inches away from Riku’s face and he had the expression of a deer caught in headlights. Sora was close enough to kiss him… or look up his nose.

Riku arched a brow at Sora… then a crack of a smile played on his lips. Suddenly he leaned in about an inch, tilted his head, and mimicked Sora’s expression, dropping his jaw and widening his eyes.

And it was over.

Sora burst into a laughing fit, as did the other teens around them. Sora was practically rolling around now with tears in his eyes. And with the staring contest over, Riku burst into a fit of laughter himself.

“I… I thought you two were gonna make out!!” laughed their friend Tidus as he nearly fell over laughing.

Kairi laughed so hard she tripped over Sora and ran into Selphie. And this only made Wakka laugh harder. Riku wiped the tears from his eyes and grinned at the others. “Hey, it worked. I almost lost that one!” he laughed.

And so they laughed… and laughed…. It was innocent, genuine laughter.

But not far from som someone who was not so fond of innocence…. A stranger stared from the shadows and narrowed a dark gaze on the silver-haired te Sor Sora was not the only one who saw that light in Riku’s eyes….

While the teens laughed there on the beach, thinking only of childish dreams, the stranger smiled. “How different light and dark can be,” thought the stranger. “You children dream of adventures against great evils, and I dream of tainting your dreams. I dream of destroying that light. Drowning it.... Pounding it.... Raping it.”

“Making out?” The stranger dragged a blade against a shadowed arm, laughing softly at the joke that still had the teens laughing. The blood that poured out was painful, sticky… arousing. The stranger looked up from the self-inflicted cut to see light flickering in sea-green orbs once more. “You'll beg me for that tenderness when i'm done with you."
