Prologue: Tender Beginnings

This was a night of subdued earthy sounds.  The leaves on the trees of Ammen Vale resonated with the sound of light rain.  Murmurs of activity from the crash site which had largely been emptied over the week since impact.  A campfire crackled and popped as the somber silver eyes of a draenei woman stared at the dancing flame.

Azure blue skin, auburn ponytailed hair, and long, tall rabbit like horns she sat on a log and braised some tenderloin from the local moongraze stag over the hissing fire.  Behind her another draenei, much younger, barely above adolescence sharpens a stick with her dagger.  Her skin an pearly white and her horns barely nubs she works hard on her new tool.

The rain was so gentle that neither needed protection.  The fire was only softened by the drizzle, still hot enough to cook.

"I think this will do the trick.  Sorry the tip broke off inside the last one, I know how you hate to see suffering." The cheerful white draenei said in an almost boyish voice with a toothy grin on her face.

In a somber voice, the older blue one, clad in a leather vest and crude, loose linen slacks responded "I don't know how you can enjoy this so much.  We lost everything.  Our family, our wealth.  The spirit of the hunt may be your thing but I just can't understand your recovery."

The leaner petite draenei woman plopped down on the log next to her and gazed at the stars enthused.  "Mom and dad wouldn't want us to mourn.  Plus the alliance is offering us a good deal, not that I give an Elekks behind about politics."

Turning the meat slowly with an aura of maturity the damaged draenei stayed silent.  Wrapping her lean, ivory arms around her waist in an attempt at comfort she let her empathy known. "Sis...  I do care.  This has been hard on every draenei.  I know you're complicated and I can come across as simple.  But I'm not."

The meat was well done as she held it out for her little sister.  Letting out a slight smile from her puffy blue lips she assured.  "I know, Bahi."

After filling their stomachs the younger rested her head on her older sisters lap.  "Uh..  Meral?"  She chirped, the elder looking down.  "Hmm?" She grunted inquisitively.  "You still upset about all the dick jokes when we were younger?  I have a hunch that kind of messed you up."

Sighing she chose not to answer...  After an awkward moment of silence she knew it was time to explain herself.  "I'm not happy here."  She said with a noble wolf like expression on her face, staring into the distance.  "Neither am I that's why I got us the tents.  We'll get a place.  The draenei are loved here."

Running her blue fingers down through her sisters short, silver hair.  "I'm heading out into the world.  I'm going to carve my own path.  I will send you every drop of copper I make.  You'll be rich without lifting a finger."

"Can't I join you?" She asked with a childlike inquisition.  "Bahi.  I'm stronger, wiser and I have more to gain than to lose.  Azure Watch is letting refugees in.  You won't get the nice bed in the inn every night.  We'll meet again some day.  This is something I need to do."

Closing her eyes about to sleep on her sisters lap she derisively mocks "Well.  I got a boyfriend, and a pointy stick to kill things with.  I guess I'm set till you're done playing adventurer."

Evening turned to morning as Bahi woke up under a slab of crystalline ship hull, bundled in blankets.  A note left by her face reading "Be back after the world truly loves us."
