Heaven's Wraith, Hell's Fury - DMC

~ Chapter 1 ~

He walked through the doors into the dark and empty room to the oversized couch. Letting his body fall onto the worn leather material, he exhaled before holding his breathe. Not even the smallest cricket could be heard in the darkness as the only light pored in through the windows from the street lights outside. His blue eyes scanning the room through the curtain of white hair that fell over his face, he came to stare off out through the window far across the room.

"What the hell is wrong with me?" He asked out loud though more a statement than a question. Eyes fluttering open and shut before finally resting, trying to find peace from an uneasy restlessness that had plagued him for days now. The room silent but for the sound of his own breathe as he laid there in silence listening for something, anything. Waiting for a distraction that would never come until he finally fell into a restless sleep.

Lady smiled as she looked down at the devil crawling across the ground as it tried to escape. It's body badly mangled and bloodied. "It's almost sad, isn't it?" She lifted up the gun and aimed at the back of it's head. "Down right pathetic." Came the reply from behind. The devil turned over and held one hand out in front of it as if to shield itself or beg for mercy causing a smile to cross her lips. "Yeah, pathetic alright."

The devil shook it's head as best as it could, "What a waste of my talents." A single shot rang out into the night a the body of the devil fell limp and lifeless. The sounds of life back on the crowded streets behind them. "But i guess it's better than nothing." Lady turned and shrugged walking towards the pale, blonde. "Seems that's all there is lately." Trish flipped her hair back over her shoulder as she now turned to walk back towards the bustle of the town. "It's odd though." Lady stopped at her bike and looked up at the woman that was the closest thing as a girlfriend she would ever have. "What's that?"

Sighing, Trish crossed one of her long legs over the other as she leaned against the side of a building. "Don't you find it strange how every devil you come across is such a sad waste of your time. They're hardly worth it really yet they seem to be increasing in numbers." She turned her cold gaze to the woman now straddling the bike. "There hasn't been a devil that's even made me bat an eye at it in weeks now yet these pathetic creatures keep crawling out of streets with no sign of a boss. No reason for their being here no matter how small or trivial."

Lady starred up into the night sky for a moment as she thought back through the past weeks in silence before turning her gaze. "I hadn't really thought about it before but now that you mention it, that is odd." Trish stood up and started once again back towards the main streets, past the bike. "Maybe it's just a coincidence, then again maybe it's not."

The small man sat at the table watching idly as the band played up on stage. The groups in the club moved about, hardly aware as they conversed and moved about. Restless and shifting in his seat he groaned as the ice in his drink began to melt. "Ugh, why do i even bother." He muttered to himself as yet another unaware couple passed by him from their table near the stage.

Shifting in his seat again, slumping over and resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he played with his drink. Turning his eyes to watch the liquid swirl in the glass as the ice shifted, continuing to melt into the liquor. "This place use to be the best in town." The man once again turned his tired eyes back up the stage, just in time to notice a couple in an embrace as the band started another song. "Then again i probably wouldn't mind so much if i were that guy." He stated as he took note of the man the woman up front was kissing, running her hands down his chest as she sat on his lap casually. The couple smiled at each other with a soft giggle before embracing yet again, oblivious to the music being played.

Grumbling the man rolled his eyes as he leaned back in his seat. "This band sucks. What the hell were they thinking when they hired these guys." He half looked back up at the stage to where the pale and almost sickly woman was singing out of tune with the band. He the man cringed, "This place has really gone down hill since that singer left. Oh man, what a beauty she was!"

The woman singing up on the stage suddenly screeched trying to hit a high note causing everyone in the club, even the clueless and otherwise occupied couples to stop and cringe in pain. "Not to mention that voice. Ugh god! Nothing like that woman up their now, like nails on a chalk board" The man jumped from his seat and began walking to the door, dumping what was left of his drink in the garbage on the way out, glass included. "Hey! That's not some paper cup you threw out, what are you doing?" A cocktail waitress called out as the man walked out the door muttering to himself.
