Sitting at my cubicle
Staring at stupid paper work
Eyes droop from drowsiness
Head on the desk to escape this paper pushing hell
Flurry of memories reel like an old movie behind closed eyelids:
Flashes of crimson liquid flying free as birds from battle torn bodies
Close up of a broken skull
Blurry glance of me in a mirror, golden hair soaked in red
An angry frown marring my love's beautiful face
X giggling and dancing through a cloud of fireflies on a hot summer night
A rude shake,
“Back to work!”
They turn
I give a one fingered salute
