Dragon Age: Child of Odin
Prologue
Ok, this is a time travel story. Starts out in our time period but goes back to whatever year it is in Dragon Age: Origins. This girl is the descendant of the City Elf Arazze. The rest of the history will be revealed later. Enjoy
My name is Katrina, my last name doesn’t really matter. I am a nobody, just an Average Jane making her way through this life. I am of average height and weight. My hair is long, going to my mid-back in honey colored waves, my dark brown roots showed at my scalp. I like how it looks. And my eyes are a blue-green color.
I pulled on my denim jacket, it was somewhat brisk outside. I was wearing turquoise plaid skirt that had black lace around the hem, black knee-high stockings and light tan colored boots.
I was home sick with a small cold, nothing bad. But my overbearing parents wanted me to stay home. But, sense they were gone, I decided to go for a little walk. It was an absolutely beautiful day out. Even though I was feeling like crap, I was still walking with a smile on my face.
The shining sun and the fact that my birthday wasn’t too far off. I was about to turn 18.
So far, I’ve had a normal life, normal grades in school good few friends. Nothing too exciting but there’s nothing to complain about.
The only thing I find odd is these nightmares I’ve had sense I can remember. Its always about these demonic creatures…I can’t even begin to count how many of them there are.
They are so hideous and horrific. I’ve never seen anything like these creatures.
They all seem crammed in an old castle-like structure. On the stone bridge above them stood an absolutely terrifying dragon-like creature. It roared. And I swear, I think I could understand it somewhat.
I would almost always wake up in a cold sweat. I was torn on what to think. Part of me was terrified. Yet intrigued in what they were. And somewhere deep down, a small sliver of my being told me to slaughter them.
‘Just what is going on? With these strange nightmares…’ I kept pondering to myself, absent-mindedly chewing on my thumbnail. I never told anyone about these nightmares. I mean, come on! Its not like they represented something super important or anything right?
But, at times, I do feel like I was…I dunno, born at the wrong time? Ever since I could remember I’ve always loved everything dealing with medieval times.
I have gone to countless Renaissance Fairs. I always have a blast at them. I also love games based on those times, especially RPGs.
Due to my interests, my constant daydreaming of meeting a handsome Prince Charming or a drop dead gorgeous Elf and having grand adventures, I have very few friends. Not that it really matters to me. Though, I do feel lonely at times. That much I must admit.
I was kind of glad to be home sick. School was becoming boring to the point of me wishing to be in a coma. That and I was enjoying being away from my boyfriend. I guess I love him, he grates on my nerves most of the time.
‘God, Brian can be so damn annoying.’ I groaned to myself, fiddling with the ring on my pinky finger. It was a rather simple looking silver ring with a pure diamond in the center. Inside the band was an inscription that I could not make out.
Though, at times, I swear that this ring may be magical. I can’t explain it but, I was sure that this ring had more meaning then just being a family heirloom.
The roads were relatively clear. I had no real destination, just had to get out of my house even if just a few minutes. Since I’ve been home for near a week, I was probably getting Cabin Fever.
I just strolled around the block a few times, getting some ’fresh’ air and returned home to make some soup and some warm tea with honey. The coughing and sneezing have been affecting me.
I sat down on my bed, soup and tea at my bedside and watched Lord of the Rings. I’ve always loved the books, The Hobbit is also included in that statement. I don’t know why, but it just captured my imagination, I’ve read them countless times, mother first read The Hobbit to me when I was about 5 or 6.
I felt my sore throat soothe as I ate my chicken noodle soup. God, that’s some good stuff. The tea was helping too naturally. I took some NyQuil so I could take a nap without the cold symptoms disturbing me.
And before Frodo even left home, I felt my eyes practically bolt shut. And the world of dreams claimed me…
