Satin's Tale: Dealings Done
Satin's Tale: Dealings Done
This is part of a series, though stands alone in its own right as a collection of tales. This entry will tell the tales of Satin, burglar and knife-fighter. This inital entry will contain some brief backstory for him.
Comments are like syrup running down my spine, even when they cut and rend and tear me to pieces, so do I love them and crave only more. Feed me, I cry for it...

A Burglars Chronicle: Dealings Done
Placeholder: The History of Satin
Satin was born in a small loose community on the plain of Rohan, but very early on in his life, when he was barely old enough to be off his mother’s apron strings, his home was raided and destroyed by an aggressive band of nomadic bandits, outcasts of the horsefolk. He survived, however, when one of the ringleaders thought he showed enough spirit to come with them. The clawing, screaming, biting and kicking that accompanied this decision were probably the driving reason for it.
Having witnessed his family and friends' deaths at the hands of this group, he was not, initially very receptive to them, but he wasn't a stupid boy either. When they fed him, he ate, when they didn't, he found food some other way, if he could. The next few years of his life were a haze of rough treatment, constant moving, and learning how to fight and hold his own amidst the group.
Because he was so young when he was taken, the memories of his family and home faded into the background, and he came to know only the hard life of a bandit, killing where he had to, stealing what he could, and above all else, surviving. By his late teens he had grown into a strange camaraderie with the other men of the band, and in return received a measure of respect from them for his speed and accuracy with his knives in combat.
By the time he was twenty, as far as he could roughly tell, he had become second under the leader who had originally spared his life, planning and executing raids alongside him. Under Satin's planning and guidance, the band's fatalities, both suffered and inflicted, dropped off greatly as he sought to kill only when absolutely necessary, and attempted to instil this thinking into the minds and methods of his brothers in arms.
It was a few years later, near the gap of Rohan, that the band, now commanded by Satin since the old leader had stepped down, that they came into conflict with raiding parties of men from Eriador, organised brigands bearing medallions that marked them as belonging to some larger group.
Satin realised that something more than the norm was going on here, something of import, and after consulting with his men he opted to scout out Eriador for more information on this new group, leaving his band to fall back into Rohan under the command of his own hand chosen second, known as Silver.
While scouting one of their camps near the outskirts of Breeland, he encountered his first Ranger, Amdir, and quickly hid his heritage, pretending to be another captive while the man explained the situation.
Concerns for what might become of his band as troubles grew led him to return briefly to them after this chance encounter, turning their actions towards the ever increasing white hand raiding parties, and away from any of the free people’s settlements. He then returned to Eriador, with the intent to help prevent the spread of such evils to him and his. It is from this point forward that the large majority of Satin’s tales will be recounted, though a few events prior may also warrant recording.
