Abducted
Chapter 1
"Oh, Fliiiik!" Nina looked to and fro as she searched for Flik in Leona’s
tavern. Heads turned out of curiosity to see which girl was shouting off the top
of her lungs above the din of the crowded tavern. When they spotted Nina, they
all chuckled knowingly, then shook their heads in amusement and went back to
drinking and talking amongst themselves.
and bandana. She did, however, spot Viktor sitting on one of the tables with
Humphrey."Viktor!" Nina ran towards him. "Have you seen Sir Flik?""Nope. Sorry." Viktor paused, then grinned evilly. "Did you check the roof?
He likes to go up there sometimes, especially at this time of night.""The roof? Huh. Never thought of that. Thanks!" Nina smiled, then dashed
away, leaving Viktor to snigger with mischievous glee at Flik’s impending
doom.
As soon as Nina got to the roof, she was greeted with the very welcome sight
of Flik looking out into the distance as he leaned against the banister."Sir Flik!" Nina’s eyes widened happily."Yikes!" Flik jumped and spun around. His eyes widened nervously when he spotted her.
"I mean, uh… w-what are you doing here?""I was looking for you." Nina smiled sweetly and laced her fingers behind her
back as she walked up to him. Flik gulped and took a step back, but Nina refused
to be deterred. Instead, she stood next to him and leaned against the stone
banister. "What are you doing here?"Flik frowned slightly, as if he didn’t want to answer her. Then, he slumped
his shoulders in defeat and looked away into the distance. "Just… thinking.""About what?" Nina raised an eyebrow."Things." Flik shrugged.Nina frowned. Apparently, Flik wasn’t going to be forthcoming today. She’d
have to fish it out of him somehow. She looked at him impishly and asked,
"Things like…?"Flik glanced at her, then he sighed and answered, "The past."Nina bit her lips. Was he thinking about Odessa again? She couldn’t help but
feel a pang of jealousy over a woman who still had such hold on his heart, even
long after she died. Why couldn’t he focus on the living and move on? How could
she even hope to compete against a dead woman who would forever remain perfect
in his mind? Nina sighed. She should probably give up on him, but something in her heart
would always protest whenever she even contemplated on that. No matter how big
her obstacle was, somehow, there was always this tiny ray of hope in her heart
that kept whispering that perhaps today would be the day he’d finally pay
attention to her. If not today, then perhaps tomorrow, or the day after, or…"Nina, I… I need to be alone right now. Would you mind?" Flik said almost
apologetically.Nina swallowed. That’s what she hated and loved about him. He was always
polite, even when he clearly didn’t want her around. She pouted. She didn’t want
to leave him alone. She’d only just found him. When else would she get a chance
to be alone with him like this? She was about to say so to him when a column of light suddenly shone upon
them both."Huh?" Nina frowned and looked around. The circular column of light spanned
only around her and Flik. "What the…?" Flik grabbed the hilt of his sword and looked up. The minute he
did so, his hands froze and his jaws went slack in surprise. Nina looked up as
well. When she did so, her jaws dropped open in shock.Hovering high on the sky above the castle was a dark, saucer-like object with
bluish lights flashing along its outer edge. The column of light came from the
bottom center of the strange flying object."What is it?" Nina frowned in confusion as she stared at the unidentified
flying object. She raised her hand to ready her wind rune. Before she could cast
any spells, she suddenly felt a tingling sensation all over her body. "W-what’s
going on?" She looked down on her hands and noticed that they were…
disappearing? Her eyes widened in alarm. She looked at Flik in panic, but he
too, was disappearing. Tiny pinpricks of light appeared inside their bodies."Wh-what is this?" Flik spun around. He raised his hand, as if he was trying
to call upon his lightning rune, but before he could speak, they felt the oddly
familiar pull of Viki’s teleportation— except, it wasn’t Viki teleporting them
this time. Then, everything around them disappeared.
They reappeared in an unfamiliar room with smooth, metallic walls and bright,
bluish-white light that came from the edges of the ceiling rather than from a
torch. Standing across the room from where they stood were three strange beings
with pale blue skin. They look somewhat human, though their eyes were amber and
owl-like and their ears were longer than a normal human being’s. They were all
completely bald. In fact, they didn’t even have eyebrows. Their hands, though
human-like, hand long, narrow fingers. Their clothes clung tight to their bodies
and seemed to shine like silk. Their clothes were of the same white-blue color
and design, suggesting that those were their uniform. And if they wore uniform,
that meant… they were… soldiers? One of them were standing behind a console of some kind. The other one was
holding a metallic pad and the third one had a cylindrical tool or object in his
(or was it her?) hand. They were speaking in a language Nina had never heard or
even read about— and that’s saying something, especially since she’d been
grilled in many known ancient and modern languages back at the Academy in
Greenhill."What do you want?" Flik said as he unsheathed his sword and pointed it
towards them. The three paused in their conversation. Then, the one at the console hit a
button. Greenish gas began to fill hers and Flik’s side of the chamber, but
there seemed to be an invisible barrier that prevented the gas from going over
to the strange being’s side of the room. Flik and Nina started coughing. They
covered their noses and mouths with their hands and tried not to breathe in the
gas, but it was rapidly filling up their side of the chamber. A mildly sweet and alcoholic scent wafted in the air and filled her head,
making her woozy. Nina stumbled and grabbed onto anything she could reach,
namely, Flik. But he too, was stumbling. Soon, her eyes and her head grew
heavy. And then she knew no more.
Nina faded in and out of consciousness. She barely noticed much beyond a
bright surrounding and several shadowy, blue figures towering over her. Alien
language echoed all around her.. She tried to move, but her body wouldn’t
respond. She wanted to scream, but she couldn’t even feel her tongue, let alone
speak. She thought she felt something being injected into her neck, but couldn’t
tell what it was or who did itSuddenly, the alien languages began to morph into something she could
understand, though she still couldn’t tell who was speaking.
"…are both fertile. The female is ovulating."
"Then we can begin right away."Nina frowned. What did they mean? Begin what? What were they going to do to
her?
"Shall we dose the female as well?"
"The male alone should be enough.""We do not know how she will react. We should at least give her a light doseto make her more receptive.""Very well."
Nina felt something piercing the area just above her pelvis. She tried to
flinch away, but she couldn’t move. Suddenly, she felt something piercing her
upper arm as well. Her mind grew heavy and drowsy. The words faded as Nina lost
consciousness once more.
A/N: Yeah, they injected Nina with a whole bunch of
stuff. But in case you didn’t catch on in that last scene, the first injection
they gave her allowed her to understand their speech, kinda like those
translator microbes in Farscape. Yeah, it’s a cheap way of getting her to
understand alien language, but I need a quick way to give y’all a clue as to
what was going on & why the aliens are doing these things to her & Flik
without wasting entire chapters just on those two trying to guess what was going
on & why. In other words, I need to get the plot moving as quickly as
possible.
her arm was anesthesia (hence, the reason why she fell asleep again). The one on
her pelvis, well… the next chapter should give you a good clue as to what that
was for. Hint: it’s the same injection they gave to Flik, but on a much lower
dosage.
I'm not really confident about posting
this. This isn't my normal fare of fics. The plot seems too cheesy for me, but
well...
Anyway, please review and tell me what you
think!
