Nobody's Business
This takes place during Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the DS. I've not actually completed the game yet, so if there are some holes or misunderstandings in this story, I'm terribly sorry. It's written somewhere close to Day 200, I'd say, but I'm not going to give a specific number, considering it takes place on a fictional vacation day. After playing so much of the games, I've really fallen in love with the Axel/Roxas pairing. Anyway, here it is. I hope you enjoy it.
---------------------------------------------------------
It’s been too many days.
The Grey Area was empty, which was surprising. Roxas sat on one of the nondescript chairs, glancing around the lifeless room. He had walked in this morning, expecting another droll day of work, when he noticed that a sign had been posted where Saix normally stood, announcing another vacation day. The last time that had happened, it was rather uneventful, leaving Roxas feeling only anxious and wondering what others did on these “vacation” days. Now, he had to suffer through another one.
Xion was nowhere to be found, having spent several of the past few days working on a particularly tough mission. No doubt she was still out there, working right through her vacation day. That meant she was unavailable to spend time with. Of course, Axel was probably around here somewhere. Perhaps they could spend the free day together.
Having brightened up a bit at the thought of alone time with Axel, Roxas climbed to his feet and left the room. He wandered the quiet halls of the castle until he finally ended up near Axel’s room. The door was closed. Roxas suddenly remembered why he had been so lonely on the last vacation day; Axel loved to sleep, and had whittled his free time away snoozing. This brought a sudden gloom to Roxas’ bright mood, for that meant he would probably be alone again today.
“What are you doing?” A voice asked from nearby. Roxas jumped a bit, startled, and turned towards the noise. Axel stood there, looking over him curiously. Finally, the red-haired man bent down and broke out in laughter. Roxas frowned. What was so funny?
“Ahahahah! Sorry, Roxas… you just scare so easily.” Axel stood up, letting go of his stomach, which he had been clutching during his fit. Roxas smiled a bit, glad that his friend wasn’t having a laugh at his expense. This was what friends did together, right?
“I thought you were going to sleep today,” Roxas said, taking a few steps towards him. Axel let out a few post-laughter snickers before shaking his head. “Nah, I’ve slept plenty these past few days. I figured we could head out and do something today.” At his words, Roxas’ mood lifted considerably. It looked like he would have a companion today after all.
A few minutes later, the pair stepped out of the dark portal and into the brightness of Twilight Town. Once the void shimmered away behind them, Axel took a few steps out of the alleyway in which they had materialized and glanced around. Considering the nice day, more people were out and about then normal. Kids played around while adults bustled about shopping and socializing. Not exactly the best conditions for two clad in black coats to be wondering around.
“What do you think we should do?” Roxas questioned, stepping up to the edge of the alley. Axel glanced towards him and shrugged. “Just see what kinds of mischief we can get into, I suppose. Sound like a plan?” Roxas lifted his hands up in indifference. Anything was better than sitting around by himself.
The duo walked back down the opposite side of the alley and emerged in the open air once more, though this time with much less people. A sign posted on a nearby wall advertised a movie that was going to play at the local theater that very afternoon. The next showing started in a few minutes, and tickets cost 100 Munny.
“How about that?” Axel suggested, looking over the poster. “Looks kinda boring, but maybe it’ll be a little entertaining.” The description actually sounded incredibly dull in his eyes, but it looked like the best of what the small town would have to offer. Roxas moved closer to the wall, reading the information, and frowned. “I… I don’t have any Munny with me.”
Axel chuckled and shrugged his head. “Don’t worry, neither do I. You didn’t think we were actually going to pay, did you?” Roxas glanced up at him in confusion. “But isn’t that wrong?” He questioned timidly. Axel thought about it momentarily, then snapped his fingers and began to walk. “Only if you get caught. Got it memorized?” He smiled.
Moments later, Roxas and Axel were settled comfortably into two seats as the room darkened and the film began. The ability to move through dark pathways wherever they wanted came in handy sometimes. It was a simple matter to appear directly into the building unnoticed.
The movie was rather bland, telling the fictional story of a young boy that had just picked out his first puppy. They spent all of their time together until an accident separated them. The grown dog managed to make it through his lonely adventure until the two were finally reunited in a teary conclusion. By the end, Axel was snoring away in his seat. Roxas stayed awake and riveted to the screen, if only because he had never seen anything like it before.
As the afternoon sun began to make its descent towards the horizon, Roxas and Axel left the theater and walked around a bit, searching for something to do. Eventually, they wondered close to the shopping district. “The usual sea-salt ice cream?” Roxas asked, eyeing the ice creamery. Two WINNER sticks were zipped up in his pocket, begging to be used. Though he hated to leave Xion out of the fun, the freebies were the only way they would be able to get the treats.
“Yeah, alright,” Axel responded. “But instead of the usual place on top of the station, let’s head to the other side of town. There’s supposed to be this really cool place on the hill.” Roxas glanced at his friend, wondering about the change, but then decided it didn’t matter. They walked over to the store and exchanged the sticks for two chilly, ice-blue cones of ice cream. Axel led the way behind the building before summoning the dark corridor and stepping purposefully inside with Roxas on his heels.
The pathway opened up at the base of the tiny hill. Axel began walking up while Roxas glanced around and took in the new sights. Soon enough, they reached the top, and the two settled on a bench close to the edge of the flat plateau. The hoot of an incoming train sounded off in the distance, and the faint cry of birds echoed through the air.
“What is this place? Are we still in Twilight Town?” Roxas wondered as he licked his frozen treat. Axel glanced sideways at the boy and nodded. “Yeah, just in a different place. This is Sunset Hill. It’s supposed to have a nice sunset, obviously.”
They sat that way for awhile as the sun moved gradually down. Eventually, the variety of colors began to appear, and a mixture of red, orange, and yellow hues dazzled them. Axel and Roxas looked towards each other, astonished with how the colors played on their features. The golden tint caused Roxas’ fair locks to positively gleam, and it easily complemented Axel’s glimmering emerald eyes.
“This… is really beautiful,” Roxas broke the silence, turning slightly red as he glanced back towards the darkening sky. Axel nodded in response. “I’m glad we came,” he finally said, as he polished off the last of the ice cream. “Just something about this place. I hope we can always come back.” The words echoed Roxas’ own sentiments. If he couldn’t spend time with his two friends, he didn’t know what he would do. Especially Axel. The man had been his constant companion since he had first come to the Organization. What was it that the Genie had said in Agrabah? Yeah, they were an inseparable pair.
The sky was sufficiently black now, and the ice cream was finished. “Well, shall we RTC?” Axel asked, flipping his leftover stick into a nearby garbage can. Roxas nodded half-heartedly. Today had been great, and he was sad to see it end. Spending time with Axel meant a lot to him.
With the darkness as sufficient cover, Axel opened the dark corridor right in the middle of the hill and walked through. Roxas tossed his stick and followed him in. After the quick trip through the black corridor that somehow connected worlds, they reappeared in the Grey Area. As before, the room was empty. Axel sighed at the sight of the drab walls once more and headed for the exit. Roxas glanced back wistfully at the fading portal, longing for more time, before shaking his head and chasing after Axel.
They walked down the hall in silence before coming to the corridor where each member’s room was located. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow,” Roxas muttered, a hint of sadness evident in his tone. Axel turned back, smiling slightly. “Hey, I’d say we could have a little longer before the day is over. Why don’t you hang with me for little while?” Before Roxas could response, he strode through the door. Roxas stood frozen a moment, then stepped hesitantly after him.
The sight of the room was almost shocking. Roxas had hardly changed his room at all from the first day, only adding a few minor decorative things such as the seashells Xion had collected for him. Axel’s room was almost an eyesore in comparison. Fiery posters of all sorts littered the walls while all sorts of colorful oddities filled up the drab and gray spaces. Compared to the rest of the Castle That Never Was, this room was actually alive.
“This is… bright,” Roxas said plainly, tearing his eyes away from the vibrant ornaments. Axel nodded and laughed as he glanced around. “It was pretty lifeless before. You might want to consider changing that as well.” He paused momentarily, then noticed Roxas standing rooted close to the door. “Hey, take a load off.” Roxas opened his mouth, ready to response, before simply nodding and edging closer, finally settling on a corner of the bed. Axel let out a sarcastic sigh before climbing to his feet and disappearing into the closet.
Roxas resumed his observation of the lively room, examining each and every piece. The sound of pulled zippers reverberated from the closet. Roxas briefly wondered what Axel was doing, but soon forgot as he noticed a small book resting on the table next to the bed. Scribbled on the cover in an elegant script was “Axel’s Diary.” He briefly considered flipping through it, but was pretty sure that it was private.
Axel reappeared, heaving a heavy yawn as he took a few barefoot steps back into the room. Roxas glanced up, slightly startled, and took in his appearance. Gone was the Organization coat, and it had been replaced by a pair of boxer briefs and a tight white shirt that clung tightly to Axel’s well-defined body.
“You… took off the coat?” Roxas asked, astonished, as he looked over the man’s body. Axel shot him a glance, mystified. “Of course,” he responded. “You mean you don’t?” Roxas had assumed he was never supposed to take it off. He slept in it, but of course he had never imagined that he was the only one. Realizing this, Axel broke into another round of raucous laughter.
“You have got to learn something about comfort. That thing doesn’t feel good during the day, let alone trying to wrestle around in it at night. I’m sure the darkness will take a break to let you get a good night’s sleep.” Axel smiled, plopping down on the bed next to his friend. “Lemme help you out of that thing. Boy, are you going to be in a world of comfort!” He reached two hands out. Roxas initially shrugged away, for his coat had become something of a security blanket. It almost felt wrong to take it off.
“Hey, if you don’t want to…” Axel pulled back. Roxas was about to let it slide, but then realized that he was only trying to help. He nodded. Axel grinned as he reached forward, undoing a few zippers. “You are wearing something under there, right?” He confirmed, finally undoing the last clasp. “Alright, now take it off.”
Slightly self-conscious, but deciding there was no turning back, Roxas kicked off his shoes and slipped his arms out of the coat, letting it fall. Underneath, he was clad in a long pair of boxers and a loose tank-top that hung around his somewhat frail but newly-toughening frame. He pulled the coat completely off and threw it down on the edge of the bed.
“There!” Axel exclaimed. “Feels a hell of a lot better, eh?” It was incredulous to him that Roxas had never bothered to remove the coat. Sure, they were supposed to wear it at all possible times in order to prevent being “consumed” by the darkness, but no amount of dark was worth the discomfort of that thing.
Roxas, terribly embarrassed of exposing his tanned skin, sat on the edge of the bed and wrapped his arms around his side, trying to ward off the chill that now hung over him. Axel frowned, sensing how obviously uncomfortable his friend felt. “Hey, I’m sorry,” he apologized, hanging an arm loosely around Roxas’ other shoulder in a slight gesture to warm him up. Roxas felt grateful for the touch, and seemed to visibly loosen and relax more comfortably on the bed at the contact. Axel’s element was fire, and his arm was inherently hot, spreading warmth contentedly across Roxas’ back.
“What made you decide to change the room so much?” Roxas ventured as he scooted more on to the bed. Axel briefly wondered if he should retract his arm, but somehow it felt so right, the two of them like that together. He considered the question, and then glanced around as he answered. “It just didn’t match my personality. I’m a burning flame, energetic and colorful. The whole gray vibe was a complete downer.”
Roxas nodded in understanding. Out of all the Organization members, Axel seemed to possess the greatest spirit, always taking to each situation with energy that none of the other members could muster. Roxas sort of envied him for that. Perhaps he would find some things to brighten his own room and erase the gray, mechanized feel.
An awkward silence fell between the two at this point. Roxas felt content, however, just being with his friend. He settled further on the bed, seeming to unconsciously ease closer to Axel. The man moved farther back, welcoming his younger companion into his embrace. Soon enough, Roxas was settled comfortably in the crook of Axel’s curved body.
“Do you remember that day I asked you about love, Axel?” Roxas suddenly asked, as he stared at the wall. Axel thought momentarily, then nodded. “Yeah.”
“Well, the Beast and that girl, Belle… they loved each other. You said that it was something that two really good friends developed. But Xaldin… he said that it was a weakness, that it was pointless.”
Axel glanced down at Roxas, considering what he had said. He briefly wondered how this had come up, when it was an emotion neither of them would ever feel. “Yeah, love… when people become grow very close to each other, sometimes they’ll fall in love. It takes a heart, though. It’s not something we Nobodies can experience.”
Roxas seemed to visibly deflate at this remark, but it didn’t diminish the sensations swirling around inside him. Something about this concept of love resonated with him, but that was impossible. He was a Nobody. He couldn’t love anyone.
“S-so, I guess we couldn’t love each other,” Roxas stated plainly, his voice drifting as he thought. Axel physically stiffened at his words. He knew Roxas was innocent, but sometimes it was lost on him how little the boy actually knew about the world. “U-uh, Roxas… love usually happens between a man and a woman, you know.”
Roxas cocked his head, confused. He rolled over a bit and turned to face Axel as he lay on his side. “Really? But, why?” His tone was full of curiosity and wonder. Axel frowned slightly in response and shook his head. “Just a way of the world, I guess. Got it memorized?”
This didn’t settle well with Roxas. He closed his eyes, wondering why love would be so picky. The Beast wasn’t even human, and yet he and Belle loved each other. It seemed like an emotion that would be free from judgment and would develop between two people regardless of circumstances.
“So Nobodies can’t love.” Roxas thought as he spoke, trying to digest what he was processing. “Whenever I’m with you and Xion, I feel these… things. I don’t know what they are. B-but… I think I love you two. Especially with you, today, Axel… I’ve never felt better. Is that wrong?” he admitted in a small voice, glancing towards his friend almost sheepishly. It sounded weird, what he was saying, but there couldn’t be another explanation.
Axel seemed taken aback, but somehow, it was as if this was what he was waiting to hear. He chose his next words carefully. “I think that it doesn’t matter if what you feel is real or not. You’re special, Roxas. Different from any Nobody I’ve ever met. But that’s a good thing.”
The two were closer then ever at this point. Roxas’ eyes glowed as they met Axel’s, and they stared at each other that way for a few moments that seemed to stretch on forever. Axel was the first to move slightly, as he leaned in close, eyes drifting shut. Roxas closed his eyes as well just as Axel touched his lips to his own. A slight electric shock rippled through Roxas’ body, but it wasn’t unwanted. They moved together ever so slightly, gently, until Axel pulled back slowly, eyes opening to watch his friend’s reaction.
He wasn’t sure what to think. It was strange, this feeling, but he had never felt better. Had that been a kiss? Roxas had picked up things out on his missions through places such as Twilight Town, and he had seen people doing it. It looked to be an affectionate expression. Did that mean… Axel felt that way too?
Whatever the case, Roxas smiled, for he was glad at even the tiniest hint that Axel seemed to feel these sensations too. Axel visibly brightened as his friend did, for it was always contagious. “Does this mean we’re in… love?” Roxas questioned, curious. Axel shook his head slightly, but that didn’t diminish the way he felt. “I don’t know, Roxas. But I don’t think it matters. I think what’s truly important is just that we’re here. Together.” Roxas immediately lit up. Axel grinned and fell onto his back on the bed, dragging Roxas with him on his stomach. There, they pressed together more forcefully, Axel seeming to lead as they kissed passionately.
Lost in the moment, Axel reached an arm up and began to tear at the fabric of Roxas’ tank-top, ripping it away. Slight alarm began to ring in Roxas’ mind, but he knew Axel would never steer him wrong. Following suit, Roxas paused momentarily as he gripped Axel’s shirt from the bottom and lifted it up and off the man’s head. Both now bare-chested, they kissed rather affectionately for a few more moments until Roxas released and lay his head down on Axel’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.
“I-is this really okay, Axel?” Roxas suddenly asked timidly, turning his head and glancing up at him. Axel nodded and smiled in response. “Sure. We’re friends, aren’t we? I dunno about this whole love business, but I do know that this is what I want.” He initiated another kiss, snaking a hand into Roxas’ spiky blonde hair as he felt a stiff sensation growing around his midsection. This was the first time since becoming a Nobody that anybody had ever turned him on like this. He’d always pleasured himself, of course, but this was his first in a long time with another.
The thoughts and feelings running through Roxas were staggering. He fought against so many pre-conceived notions based on the lies that the Organization constantly fed him. This time with Axel, however, was a bliss he had never felt before. New pleasures rocked his body as they went, and he suddenly found himself hungering for more of Axel. His member was growing and throbbing at this point, sending his mind reeling as sudden lust overcame it.
Once again, Axel was the first to move even further. The hand twisted in Roxas’ hair reached down and pulled lightly at the waistband of his boxers. Sensing no resistance, he took hold of it and began tugging them down. Roxas contorted slightly, allowing Axel to slide them all the way down and cast them off to the side. Imitating each move Axel made, Roxas latched onto Axel’s own briefs and pulled them off, taking care to make sure it slipped gently over the growing manhood within.
The two pressed against each other with no resistance now. Hands set to work now exploring each other’s bodies. Axel was surprised with how well Roxas had developed, feeling growing muscles and thickening hair he hadn’t expected. Roxas, of course, was awed with the man’s muscular body. His curious hand moved down from the sinuous physique and brushed across the thick bush of black hair around his groin and subsequent hairs that trailed enticingly up his stomach. This ended with a light touch against the scratchy bristles growing around the man’s jaw, and a few light kisses.
“Not quite as tiny as you’d have liked me to believe of you, huh?” Axel said in a low voice as he nuzzled Roxas’ neck. “You’ve done a lot of growing since that first day I met you. Almost as tall as me now!” He exclaimed, smirking, as he moved down to Roxas’ chest, allowing a hand to rove over it, exploring.
“Well, you’ve always been like that,” Roxas responded, grinning, as he caught a few strands of flaming red hair in his fingers and rubbed the length of Axel’s back gently. “I’ve always really wanted to be as big as you are,” he admitted, gently pressing their lips together a few more times. Axel mumbled softly when he could. “Eh, it’s not so great, you know.” They continued like this for awhile, conversing almost in whisper as they kissed and explored each other at every possible opportunity.
Finally, Axel was ready for more. Taking the initiative, he grabbed Roxas’ sides in both of his hands and flipped him over onto his back. A firm hand gripped Roxas’ erection as the other traced deep patterns in his thigh. His fingers latched around the length and massaged it deeply, while the other hand moved slightly up to run through the silky pubic hair. A slight moan issued from Roxas, as this was a completely new experience to him. His body bucked gently, yearning to move even further into Axel’s thrilling embrace.
Axel continued pleasuring him, occasionally pausing to engage in another deep kiss or a quick exploration of Roxas’ body with his tongue. Just as Roxas seemed to settle from the excitement of such a new sensation, Axel bent his head down, carefully taking the head into his mouth and sucking ever so delicately. Seeing that Roxas was obviously pleased with this, he took it further in, roving up and down as his hands rub and massage every available space of Roxas’ shuddering body.
“A-Axel…” Roxas moaned in between groans of ecstasy, his fingers twisting in crimson hair as a stray hand gently rubs Axel’s cock. Axel blew him hungrily as a hand cupped the balls underneath and toyed with them gently. Roxas, in all his pleasure, managed to take hold of Axel’s thick member, stroking it furiously in order to ensure Axel received his fair share of the enjoyment.
All the while, Roxas had given up on the thoughts that held him back. It was the Organization trying to restrict him, filling him with the untruths that would convince him to continue along their dark and twisted path. It was Axel, in all his simplicity, who changed his mind. Axel, the one who had befriended him from the very start and had helped him through every up and down of his short life here. Axel, the man who would be his love if only he was Somebody.
The two were soaked in sweat as they collapsed against each other, hot and tired. Each new pleasure that Axel showed him, Roxas reciprocated, determined to please the man.. The taste of Axel’s member in his mouth was strange, but not entirely unpleasant, as that odd liquid greased the skin and now coated their intertwined bodies. The look of sheer enjoyment on Axel’s face had been enough incentive for him to continue.
They traded another kiss as Axel reached up to his bedside table, snatching a small bottle and flicking the cap. Roxas briefly wondered what was next, but it didn’t matter. Axel squeezed the lubricant on to his swollen dick and coated it in, and then glanced up at Roxas. “Do you trust me?” He mumbled softly, pressing their lips to each other in another quick moment. “O-of course,” Roxas replied huskily.
With that answer, Axel lightly flipped Roxas over and rubbed a small amount of the lube around his entrance. That finished, he gently put the tip of his manhood to the exterior, probing carefully. Taking the plunge, he thrust in carefully, pushing through the tight flesh as his member sunk in. Gasps of pain erupted from Roxas as Axel slid further in, but soon enough, the agony began to mix with slight ecstasy as moans of pleasure intermingled with light whimpers.
In time, Roxas was thrusting in sync with Axel, their frames moving together in a rhythm. Axel’s hand found its way around Roxas’ waist, taking hold of the dick once more and pumping much more furiously. Roxas’ mouth hung agape, too overcome to make noise as he gave into overwhelming satisfaction. Axel leaned in close and raked his teeth over the back of Roxas’ neck, biting and sucking gently. Roxas closed his eyes and raked his fingernails lightly over the length of Axel’s arm.
“A-ah… ahh!” Roxas exclaimed as every muscle in his body clenched and a lightning bolt rippled through his lower body. Axel stroked continually as Roxas released for the first time, his seed spilling over the bed and coating the two of them with its hot, sticky mess. Roxas thrust almost violently as the orgasm died away and Axel continued to pump through him. Axel placed a loving kiss on Roxas’ neck as he too felt his own familiar climax approach, tightening and contracting his lower body as he released deep inside his partner. The furious motions began to die down as the powerful sexual drive between the two began to slowly dwindle. Axel gently pulled away and tugged lightly on his own manhood, attempting to settle the vibrations of pleasure that were just beginning to recede. Roxas fell against the sheets and rested momentarily before turning around to face Axel.
“W-wow,” was all the blonde-haired boy had to say, grinning up slightly at the man. Axel leaned his head on his propped-up arm and smiled in return as a hand rubbed gently along Roxas’ shoulder. To think he had been waiting so long for this, with a runt he had once complained about having to babysit—it amazed him.
“That was your first time, wasn’t it?” Axel questioned, as his hand drifted up and gently traced patterns along Roxas’ cheek. The boy nodded, though he was quick to assure Axel it was incredible. “I had no idea our bodies could do something like that. But I think, what made it so good… was being with you.” It sounded lame, but it was the truth. Axel almost blushed. “I’m glad you liked it,” he responded.
Roxas nodded and scooted closer, snuggling once more into the crook of Axel’s body. Their faces were close, hot and heavy breath wafting over each other. Roxas lifted up slightly, beginning another gentle kiss, his arms around Axel’s neck as they pressed forcefully and passionately.
“I think… that love is more powerful then Xaldin believes,” Roxas stated suddenly, pausing in their kiss. “I know we’re Nobodies, and that means this may just be a delusion. But I’ve never felt like a Somebody more then right now. I-… I love you, Axel.” He mumbled in a small voice. If the feelings weren’t mutual, it didn’t matter. It was probably all a lie, anyway. With that said, Roxas settled onto the bed, his eyes closed, exhausted.
Axel turned his head slightly, surprised. He blinked a few times, processing the words, and finally nodded. “I know what you’re saying, Roxas. Believe me. This whole Nobody business, taking away emotions… I’m not sure of the truth.” He stopped here and slipped a hand under Roxas’ cheek, lifting his head up slightly. Their searching eyes met, and Axel kissed him one more time, lightly, for just a few seconds.
“But I love you too, Roxas.”

It’s been too many days.
The Grey Area was empty, which was surprising. Roxas sat on one of the nondescript chairs, glancing around the lifeless room.
