Looking after him

“Yes Mother I will be right back.” I say to mother. “Cream you better take an umbrella it looks like it might rain again.” As I run out of the door grabbing my umbrella I am running to the store to get some medicine for Cheese. Poor thing got sick out in the rain. I love the rain it helps the plants and trees grow. I look up and I see little flashes of thunder in the distance and a slight rumble in the grey clouds.
‘I guess I better hurry and go get the medicine I need, the store is only ten blocks away but I don’t mind I love to go on little walks to the store.’

As I am nearing my destination I see you through the glass entrance buying a few things. As I walk in and stand near the front so I can hear you. I am glad my big ears come in handy.

“It seems that I don’t have enough for this. I guess I’ll put it back.” You say. “Hi Mr. Shadow.” I say as I walk up to you. “You dropped this outside.” I added and hand you the five dollars. You look at me and take the five dollars from my hand pay for your items and head out the door with a ‘Hn.’

I smile and wave bye and continue with my shopping getting medicine for my poor Cheese. “You know you didn’t have to help that grump.” Said the man at the counter. I look at him and smile. “Mr. Shadow did acknowledge me though.” I tell the man and walk out the door. When I walk out I see it started to rain so I take out my umbrella and begin to walk home.

As I am walking home I pass by the park and see the many flowers and trees getting wet and feeding from the rain. As I continue to pass by I notice you sitting on the bench at the park getting wet. I smile and walk up to you as you sit there with your eyes closed and your head back letting the rain drops hit you. As I stand next to you I hold out my umbrella letting it shelter you in the rain. You open your eyes and stare at me with those intense red eyes, and I smile back.

“You’re getting wet Cream.” You tell me and I smile even more. “So are you Mr. Shadow. I wouldn’t want you to get sick. Poor Cheese got sick so I am bringing him some medicine.” I say as I continue to hold the umbrella above you. I can feel the rain drops hitting me and getting my clothes wet.

“You can walk with me to my house Mr. Shadow and you can stay there until the storm blows over.” You stare at me and slowly get up snatching my umbrella from my hand. I look at you as you turn to leave the park until you stop and look at me. “Come on you’re getting wet.” You say and I walk over taking my place beside you and we continue to walk down the street.

“You know you didn’t have to help me back there.” You say after a moment of silence. I smile not taking my eyes away from the sidewalk, “I know.” I say simply and continue walking with you. As we walk along the sidewalk I see a few puddles and run from the shelter of the umbrella and jump into the puddle making a big splash wetting the inside of my shoes. Mr. Shadow comes walking up to me staring at me like I must be crazy.

“Cheese is sick and you’re splashing into puddles. Keep this up kid and you will be joining him in bed rest.” I look up at you and smile, “I’m already soaking wet what’s a little more?” I say still looking at you with my smile. “When we get to your house think of what your mother is going to say.” You say grabbing my hand as we both continue walking down the sidewalk.

Finally not long after the puddle we walk to my house and shake off the umbrella and walk inside.

“Cream you are soaking wet. Look at your dress and your shoes…did you jump in a puddle young lady?” asks my mother. I nod my head in an affirmative. “You go into your room and change into some dry clothes.” I walk away from the grown ups and walk to the hallway closet and grab a towel for Mr. Shadow as I go back into the living room and give it to him and march straight back to my room. As I finish changing clothes I hear mother and Mr. Shadow talking. As I walk back out I see you dried off and your shoes next to the fire place. I walk over to you and sit on the sofa as mother brings out hot cocoa for us. As we are drinking the phone rings and mother goes to answer it.

“Hello…” says Mother on the phone.
“Amy. How are you, dear?” another pause and a gasp.

“Oh no! How terrible. Well I’ve got some extra candles and lighters. I will be right over. No, Cheese is sick he couldn’t…and there is a storm front coming. Well why don’t you come on over here we have a spare bed room.” Says my mother. I look at Mr. Shadow in confusion. He looks down at me and sips his cocoa.

“Oh Dear. Poor Sonic…Oh my. All three of them? Well I’ll be right over and bring some supplies. No, Cream can stay here. She isn’t alone Mr. Shadow is here. Alright I will be right over. Bye.”
Says mother hanging up the phone.

“Cream, Mr. Shadow there is a problem. Amy’s’ apartment building lost its power and she has no heat. Mr. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all got sick while sparring in the rain. So I am going to go over there and help her attend to the sick ones. You wouldn’t mind looking after Cream while I’m gone do you Mr. Shadow?” says mother going to the hall closet grabbing a first aid kit and some medicine that I brought from the store.

“Why don’t I go and give her the stuff for them I could reach her faster.” I look over to you and then at mother.

“I know you could but she needs help taking care of them. I don’t think you would want to help take care of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. They need a woman’s touch.” Says my mother packing up her stuff and getting her rain bonnet and umbrella. Before she heads out she turns to me and Mr. Shadow as we keep sipping our cocoa.

“Cream, Mr. Shadow was going to stay the night when I heard of the thunder storm. Show him to the guest room. Don’t sleep with Cheese he’s sick, and you can sleep in my room. Behave for Mr. Shadow and I’ll be back in the morning. I’ll call you on Amy’s’ cell phone when I get there.” She says kissing me on the head and going out the door. As we sit on the sofa looking at the fire place I look over at you and stand up.

“Did you finish your cocoa Mr. Shadow? Would you like some more?” I ask taking your cup from you after receiving a negative. As I put the cups away I hear the thunder crack and rush to the living room. I see you still sitting on the sofa and I jump to you putting my arms around you.

“What’s wrong? Don’t like the thunder?” you ask as I look up at you. “I love it when it rains don’t get me wrong it helps the plants grow, but I can’t stand thunder.” I say still holding on to you. After that I feel you putting your arms around me.

“Don’t worry I am here.” I look up at you and smile and snuggle into you looking at the fire. After sitting in front of the fire place for half an hour we hear the phone ring and I answer to get it.

“Hello. Cream speaking, May I ask who’s calling Please?” I say into the receiver.

“Cream, it’s Mother.” I smile at the sound of her voice.

“Mother did you make it alright to Amy’s? How are Mr. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles?” I ask into the phone.

“Yes I am here with Amy and the boys they are okay they are running a high fever. But I gave them some medicine and they should be falling asleep any moment now. So I am going to spend the night here and I’ll see you in the morning.” Says Mother.

“Okay see you in the morning. Good night Mother. I love you.” I say happily into the phone. “I love you too. Say good night to Mr. Shadow for me.”

“Good night mother.” I say and hear the phone hang up on her side. I put the phone down and look at you.

“Mother made it to Amy’s; she says Mr. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are fine and going to bed. And told me to tell you Goodnight and Thank You.”

“Glad she made it. It’s getting late we should head to bed.” Says Mr. Shadow and gets up from the couch. I nod my head and walk up to you and grab you by the hand and lead you down the hallway to the guest room.

“This is your room Mr. Shadow. I hope you will be comfortable.” I say letting go of your hand.

“Thank you Cream. Goodnight.” You say as I smile and nod. “Good night Mr. Shadow Mother’s room is down the hall and Cheese is right next to it.” I say and close the door. As I walk over to mother’s room I peak into my room and take a look at Cheese who is sleeping thanks to the medicine I bought from the store. As I slowly close the door I retire to mothers’ room to sleep.

Crack

I sit straight up in mothers bed looking around as I huff and puff at the sound of the thunder clap. I take a deep sigh and try to go back to bed until

KABOOM!

I hear another thunder clap and jump out of bed opening the door and racing down to the guest room. I slowly open the door and walk into the dark room as it lights up with the lightning crashes. As I slowly walk over to Mr. Shadows’ sleeping form.

“Couldn’t sleep?” I hear a voice say suddenly as I jump at being startled and cower on the floor shaking. I look up slowly and see you holding up the blanket and scooting over to one side.

“Is it okay if I sleep with you Mr. Shadow?” I ask in a quiet unsure voice. “I wouldn’t be holding this blanket up for nothing. Come on.” He says gently and I get up off the floor and jump into the bed nestling close to you.

“Thank you Mr. Shadow. I really don’t like thunder.” I say getting comfortable. “Hn. What about Cheese? Isn’t he scared?” I turn over to you so we are facing each other. “No Cheese can sleep through anything.” I say yawning and fluffing the pillow putting my head down. Mr. Shadow shrugs and closes his eyes to go back to bed.

CRASH! KA-BOOM!

I hear the thunder outside go and instantly I wrap my arms around Mr. Shadows’ waist as I whimper. “I’m scared!” I say holding him tighter thinking the scary noises are going to continue. Then I feel a hand around my shoulders and another tilting my head up. As I look up into your eyes I see a small comforting smile grace your lips.

“You’re safe with me. I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.” You say as you lean down and kiss my forehead. I look back up at you with wide eyes. I can’t believe it this is the most I’ve ever seen you talk or come in contact with any one. I don’t think you even hug or comfort Ms. Rouge. But everything aside I look at you and smile and lay my head down on your chest hearing you breathe. Soon I don’t hear the thunder outside only you. I feel so protected when I’m with you like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I know you are Shadow the Ultimate life form and no one could really touch you or come close to nailing you. You were feared by the government and were almost destroyed and many think your mean looking. But I don’t think that at all. I think everyone has good in them and has a soft side to them. Yours I believe was your friend Maria and I know all you wanted to do was look after her and after you saved the world many times with Mr. Sonic you were looking after people and trying to do good for Maria’s’ sake. But I think even the ultimate life form needs someone to look after him too. So that’s what I intend to do.

Okay this one was just an idea i thought of. Cream having a little crush or something like that. So R&R for me. I might turn thins into a series if i get enough reviews or something so let me know.
