Chapter 1: The Hunt
Alright, I hope you all enjoy my story!! Pirate fun and all of that, so basically think of this set in basically Pirates of the Caribbean sort of thing. I’m probably even going to making mention of Jack and all that but this is all Sora and Riku. Enjoy!!
Chapter 1: The Hunt
The breeze was strong on the ocean as a large ship cut through the large waves. The smell of a storm was clear to everyone on this ship, but not as clear to its silver haired captain as he stood behind the steering wheel, staring off into the distance in thought. He wore a black hat and coat as it waved in the breeze, his clothes damp with sea spray and his boats worn from his journeys. His sky blue eyes were sharp in thought as he narrowed them slightly towards the distance. His crew worked rather quietly on the deck and down below, knowing that their captain had been irritated as of late with his unsuccessful attempts to track down a certain ship. Everyday was only getting worse and with the coming storm, it was only going to become a nightmare.
“Captain!! Might we prepare for the coming storm?!”
The man stood still as he looked out, the only movement coming from the wind whipping through his silver locks. No one stopped what they were doing but all eyes turned to him, some wondering if he heard the question while others waited to see how he reacted to being questioned. After another moment, his sharp eyes were upon the man that dared question him, a heat in his eyes like no other.
“We sail through the storm and we shall not stop until I have what is mine!! Do I make myself clear!?” He growled loudly, gripping the steering wheel tightly as he barked his order. Every man dared not argue as they got back to work, a crack of thunder making everyone pick up the pace to get ready for what is about to come.
Only one man stepped forward beside his captain, clearing his throat a little before speaking, “Captain Riku, forgive me if this is too forward, but if we prepare for the storm and ride it out we’ll have a ship to continue our search in the morning.”
Once again work did not stop on ship but all eyes were on the two men, waiting to see what would happen. The man at Riku’s side was his second in command and was probably the only person that was able to get away with arguing with their pirate captain.
Riku turned his gaze to his second and looked him over. He was tired and worn in more ways than one, his shaggy blonde hair soaked from the sea spray and the storms he had forced them all to weather, but still standing at his side challenging him none the less.
“Honestly Tidus, you can shove your opinion up your ass. I know what I’m doing.”
The two men glared at each other, each running things through their mind, before Riku made the first move and stepped away from the wheel and heading down to his cabin. Silently he opened the door and slammed it rather hard in his frustration, rubbing his eyes wearily as he took a seat behind his desk.
A heavy sigh escaped him as he removed his hat and tossed it aside, looking around his cabin to see the walls covered in maps and papers, having spent a year of his time tracking down the last thing that he needed. With a tired hand he took up his most recent map and looked it over, mumbling quietly to himself, “I will catch you Sora and when I do, it shall be mine once more.”
His eyes began to droop as he continued to try and study the map, but sleep was starting to win. Riku blinked a few times as if to some how fight off the urge to pass out but with one final blink, his eye lids refused to open and he was dead to the world, the map sliding out of his hand and gliding down to the floor as a crack of thunder sounded once more.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Captain!! CAPTAIN!! SORA!!!”
The brunette that lay upon the soft small cabin bed gave a small snort as he sat straight up on his bed, blinking his eyes and rubbing them wearily as he tried to figure out where he was and what was going on.
“CAPTAIN!!”
Sora glared as he heard his title screamed at him one again, screaming back as he got to his feet “WHAT!?”.
The door to his cabin flung open as a crew member from his deck stumbled in, soaked to the bone from the storm that caught them. Sora crossed his arms, slightly annoyed that he was dripping water on his carpet and taking his sweet time catching his breath after all of his screaming.
“Captain! It’s Riku….he’s catching up to us….he’s off in the distance!”
Sora’s eyes grew wide at this news and quickly he ran to his desk, throwing the drawers open as he mumbled to himself quietly “…not good…not good…”
“Captain, what do we do!?”
Sora didn’t look up from his search as he growled, “Get ready to fight if he catches up to us!!” His crewman nodded but scrambling back outside once more to deliver the orders, leaving Sora to tear his desk apart.
Soon a victory smile grew on his face as he found the pendant that he knew Riku was chasing him over. With a smug smirk he put on his dark blue coat and slipped the pendant into his pocket before he prepared himself for the fight to come.
Unlike most Pirates on the seas, Sora could clearly be argued as the most different, largely due to just the way he looks. He was rather short to say the least. Most of his crew members were at least three inches taller than him if not worse, not to mention Sora looked very young and soft in the face. His Sapphire blue eyes were large and often described as innocent, which has always made it hard for him to be taken seriously. But when it came to getting what he wanted, Sora knew how to get it better than anyone else and half the time he didn’t even have to hurt anyone to do it.
For Sora to go up against Riku was like watching two of the exact opposites go up against each other. Riku had always been known for his ruthless nature and his no one left alive policy, made for him to be one of the most feared pirates. The two of them had always been at odds with each other, mostly because Riku couldn’t stand how Sora avoided hurting people unless he had to. Sora wasn’t a true Pirate to Riku and had always done everything he could to put an end to him.
It was only made worse a year ago when Sora managed to steal Riku’s pendant from under his nose and managed to keep it away from him for this long. Sora smirked once more as he thought about all the hell he had cause Riku over the last year, making him chase him all over the globe. Now all of that was coming to an end and Sora had to stand his ground. He didn’t know how well it was going to go but he wasn’t going to give up without a fight.
After taking another breath, he looked at himself in the mirror, running a hand through his ridiculously spiky hair before putting on his hat. He wasn’t intimidating and some days it pissed him off, but he knew that it didn’t matter. It was the fight in the person, not how badass they looked…right?
Sora shook off his doubt before straightening his coat one last time and stepping outside into the rain, going up to the Bridge and looking out. Off in the distance was indeed a ship that he had dared to escape so many times before, but that wasn’t an option now. It was do or die time. After taking another moment to his thoughts, he gripped his sword and removed it from its sheath, thrusting it into the air for all to see.
“To Victory!!”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Riku glared through the storm as he gripped his sword hilt tightly. The time had come and he was determined to end this. No more cat and mouse.
“Captain, we’re coming along side!”
A vicious grin grew on his face as he stepped forward; barking loudly for all to hear over the screaming winds, “Board the ship as soon as we’re along side!! Leave no survivors but bring me Sora ALIVE!!”
His mean gave a loud cheer as they gripped their sword hilts and prepared to swing across to the other boat, the men excited about finally having some action for a change.
Soon the two ships are along side one another, both crews growling and screaming at each other before they begin swinging across in battle, the sweet sound of swords clashing and screams of pain sounding through the thunder and lightening.
“That’s it men!! Cast them all into the cold dark waters!!”
Riku laughed as he watched the battled, only to have his fun interrupted when he spotted Sora swinging across to his ship and landing not too far from him. With a growl Riku gripped his sword tightly and prepared himself, glaring at the soaked brunette.
“Give me back what you have stolen!!”
Sora merely smirked before pulling out his own sword and running at him, having always been a rather reckless fighter. Riku easily blocks his blade with his own, pushing him back with ease before lunging forward with his own sword. Sora quickly dodges before moving at him once more, only to be deflected with every graceful move by Riku.
Sora growled as he lunged once more, unable to stand the thought that Riku was playing with him, “Stop dancing around and fight me!!”
Riku easily dodges he blade once more before turning on his heel and placing himself beside Sora and gripping his wrist tightly. Then with a quick twist of Sora’s arm he pins it behind his back. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he watched Sora squirm to get away, smirking as he leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Do you not enjoy my games, Sora?”
With a loud cry Sora quickly kicked out his leg and threw off Riku’s balance, managing to throw him to the ground and readying his sword with a victorious smile in time to see Riku laying on the ground with a gun pointing at him. The two of them locked eyes for only a moment before the sound of a gun being fired fills Sora’s ears.
Time seemed to slow down at that moment. Each individual raindrop seemed to sound like an explosion in his ears as he watched them hit the boards of the deck and the loudest of thunder seemed to be only a soft rumble in the distance. Things only became back to normal speeds when the burning sharp pain filled his right shoulder caught up to him, making him drop his sword and give a cry of pain as he hit the floor holding his shoulder.
Riku smirked once more as he got to his feet, not bothering to pick up his sword as he walked over to Sora, taking in the fallen brunette and watching him hold his shoulder. After taking a moment to truly enjoy the sight, he reached down and grabbed his coat, pulling him roughly to his feet, growling in his ear, “Return my pendant!!”
Sora gave a weak laugh as he heard the anger and frustration in his voice, looking up at him with tired eyes, “Go ahead and kill me, but you still won’t be able to use it…and I’ll never tell you…”
All crew members could hear Riku’s frustrated growl, all eyes turned towards them for only a moment to see Riku slam Sora hard against the mast and tie him tightly in place.
“You shall watch as my men slaughter your crew…” He growled lowly as he began searching Sora’s pockets, finding his pendant and giving a vicious smile as he slides it into his pocket once more. “…and then the true hell shall begin until you give me what I want.”
Sora glared up at him as he started to breath heavy from his wound, struggling slightly until he locked eyes with Riku, seeing a glint there that he had never seen before.
“You will be useful to me in more ways than one…” Riku smirked as he grabbed Sora’s chin roughly, forcing him to look up at him before kissing him hard, forcing his mouth open and ravaging it as Sora whimpered softly.
With a soft chuckle, Riku released Sora’s mouth and straighten himself, looking down at his small prisoner for another moment before going his cabin once more and leaving his crew to secure his easy victory.
