Defending the Farm

Leo yawned, resting his head back against the dilapidated farm house. His shadow made him nearly invisible in the shade, which was just as well, since he was the ONLY defense this way point had. And really, one lone shadow priest, no matter how well trained, was not enough to stop a swarm of trained... well... whatever Alliance soldiers decided to attack.

Fortunately, they seemed far more interested in the lumber mill just up the road, and he was left in relative peace. Aside from the rogue and paladin hiding in the bushes who either couldn't see him or thought he couldn't see them. They seemed engaged in a hushed debate, and the paladin's spyglass roamed from one side of the farm to the other.

With a smirk, the half-troll cracked his neck and got to his feet, his back pressed against the farmhouse. Clearly they were still searching for defenders, and that meant they couldn't see him yet. Perfect time to have a bit of fun with them before he called in reinforcements.

Shadow's around the moon-colored Kal'dorei rogue began to gather and darken, sliding up black leather encased legs, back, and shoulders. Neither of them noticed, and Leo cackled quietly, his fel-green eyes glowing with power as he whispered a single word.

Immediately, the Night Elf's silver eyes shot wide open, and a shudder convulsed up his spine. He made no sound, just dug his nails into the ground and shuddered. He must've had a lot of self-control, for the tanned, dark-haired human at his side remained oblivious to his friend's plight, and continued scanning the area, muttering quietly under his breath.

But the priest knew the elf was in torment. He could feel the waves of energy the shadow's vampiric embrace feed into him, could see it in the Kal'dorei's eyes. But it wasn't enough, yet. The shadow's around the rogue became more agressive, attacking his body, consuming him. Finally, he must have let out some soft sound, for the paladin turned to him, gasped, and darted from the bushes, a large hammer gripped in both hands, his eyes frantically searching.

Cackling loudly, Leo pushed away from the building, standing just on the edge of the shade, silhouetted in the shadows. Confusion crossed the human's features, and the half-troll tilted his head to the side, eying him up. He must've looked like a Night Elf from a distance, he decided, especially with his features so blurred.

Once more, he cackled, this time locking eyes with the human. Realization slowly spread over the paladin's features, but by then, it was too late. The half-troll had already invaded his mind. While shadow caressed and dulled his senses, the priest purred soft words into his consciousness.

"Run."

"The water, he won't follow me there."

"I can swim across to the blacksmith for reinforcements."

"He'll see me if I keep my head above the water."

"I have to swim deep!"

"Deeper!"

"Deeper..."

With a smirk, Leo watched as the human ran to the river, his legs moving as fast as he ould make them go. He dove into the water, plunging deep into its depths, and swum desperately even deeper. His body convulsed as he hit the bottom, and finally, the half-troll released his hold, watching in delight as the poor paladin struggled and thrashed, water filling his lungs. He was almost a foot beneath the surface when he finally stopped, his plate-covered body sinking once more to the riverbed.

Glancing over to the Night Elf, the priest nodded contentedly. The Kal'dore was out cold, his skin rotting and peeling away. The devouring plague had done its job nicely, and all Leo had to do was melt away what remained of his mind, and the rogue would never open his eyes again.

With a yawn, Leo stretched and leaned back against the farmhouse, slowly sliding down to the ground. It really was too bad the Alliance was so consumed with wood, but at least he was left in peace. Perhaps he could take a little nap, later.
