I don't own Resident Evil, it's Capcom's. I'm just borrowing the characters for a little fun. I'm making no money off this.
pre game
Location: Umbrella labs, somewhere on the West Coast USA
Year: 2008
The blond haired woman, once Sherry Birkin, now just test subject zero-six-eight, sat curled up in the corner of the cell that had for the most part been her world since she had been brought there six years ago, on her fifteenth birthday. It was taking all she had not to show she had abilities, even though she had been beaten and abused since she had been brought there. Wesker would have to stay disappointed in his goddaughter, she wasn’t a monster, and she wouldn’t be one. Sherry was determined not to become what he wanted her to. So far, she had managed to keep him disappointed; though she had the advanced healing of the higher B.O.W. it was clear that the woman would never be anything more.
Wesker had let it slip, that he was half tempted to infect her with the last of the samples of the G-virus, just to watch the virus rip through her like it had her father. If nothing else, then she’d be helpful as a real test subject.
She kept her head down as she caught the scent from the doorway. Wesker to her virus, smelled like cheese Danish. She frowned, hating the smell. She knew as soon as she was able to get out of there she was going to swear off any baked goods for the rest of her life. The scents alone were enough to make her sick.
“You were supposed to be ready when I arrived.” She ignored the voice, like she had been for the past four years. The last three she had stopped talking all together, there was no need since they didn’t listen to her anyway.
Her short blond hair was mussed; she hadn’t bothered to brush it, not like it would matter anyway.
“Wesker leave her alone!” Jill’s voice snapped her back to reality. She wasn’t alone anymore; the ex-S.T.A.R.S. was also a prisoner with her. Sherry curled up in a ball in her cell, feeling the arm go through the bars and around her thin frame.
Jill, please don’t make it worse… They’ll hurt you. One of us should be able to escape. I’ll never make it to the door. She thought knowing the other woman would hear it. They had talked that way last night, the older woman holding her much as she was now.
She wanted to stay curled up with Jill holding her trying to tell her things would be okay, but her godfather grabbed her arm pulling her to her feet with a sharp cry.
She felt the hand slap across her face and looked at the floor. Wesker hated it if she made any noise. Closing her eyes quickly she hid the tears welling up.
“Sherry…”
Sherry gave Jill a small nod of her head.
I’ll be okay. He won’t kill me outright, I’m the only one with the sample he needs. I’m still useful to him. Jill, please, I’ll try to do something to get you out of here. Just go, don’t come for me unless Wesker’s dead. He can hunt me. She thought as he led her out of the cell.
Only the two of them would get him to visit. Wesker had special plans for both of them, one including his master race. If his goddaughter’s mind broke before it became a reality it wouldn’t be a loss. Her father had been too easy on her from the beginning anyway. And since Birkin was dead, he had free reign over what to do about his daughter. The young Birkin was the first dual infected. Against Annette’s wishes they had infected Sherry’s embryo with the early strain, before they had started modifying it into T. The girl was impossible to kill, Raccoon had proved that, Birkin’s last ditch effort to try to get rid of the mistakes he had made had caused the second infection with his precious G, which Wesker knew even though DEVIL had been used on the girl, it was sleeping. He had found traces of it in her blood work. The viruses in her had actually created something far more dangerous than the Ouroboros, which he was working on now. But he couldn’t figure out how to trigger it. Which was why he had started treating her more like one of his test subjects.
“You could make this so much easier on yourself Sherry. Just give me what I want.” The idle comment was unlike him as they stepped into the elevator that would take them down two levels to the labs. “Either way I’ll be getting them.”
Jill leaned against the back wall of the cell; She hated seeing what had become of the small girl whom Leon and Claire had rescued. She had grown into a lovely woman, though it was clear that she was abused, everything about how she had held herself had screamed she was mentally beaten, even the voice she had used in Jill’s mind had the tone of someone who was nearly at the point of giving up. Sinking to the floor she closed her eyes. She’d have to get Sherry away from Wesker. She’d do anything that he wanted as long as the girl was safe. She had a feeling that’s what he was expecting too. “Damn it… He’s still playing me.” She growled low punching the wall. “Chris… I’m sorry.” She sank to the floor wrapped an arm around her knee. If Sherry were able to pull something and get her free she’d do her best to come back with reinforcements before they could move her.
Maybe Becky would take time away from her lab for a medical case. Jill didn’t want to trust taking her to a hospital.
Barry should have insisted sending her to his wife and kids, she would have had a normal life. Or as normal as she could. If they hadn’t been hiding from the government she would have taken the kid in. But being on the run and shot at was no way to raise a kid. Leon had only made the deal thinking that she’s be safe. The government was supposed to keep an eye on her. After all they had insisted on taking her from them.
Sherry, we’ll both get out of here, don’t worry. We’ll do a better job of protecting you; Leon and Becky both have places that are big and open. I’m sure they’ll let you stay with them. She thought hoping to raise the girl’s spirits some. You have to hang in there, we’ll get out of here and go back to the others.
