I do not onw the characters of Arc The Lad and am making no money from this fic,
The Prince's Doll
Personal Disclaimer: That all belongs to Cattle Call…I think… Regardless, I ain’t making money by making this story… It’s merely being written because I think that Maru and Bebedora make such a cute couple and I want some god damn closure with them since the first game didn’t see fit to do anything about it...the sequel didn’t even have Bebedora in it…at least, not storywise! This’ll take place through Twilight of the Spirits and through and after End of Darkness so there will be spoilers and it’s one of my fan fics so it’ll contain sex. Ergo; children and people who haven’t played the games and want to in the future shouldn’t read this. Anyone else, go right ahead!
The Prince’s Doll
By The Playing Mantis
“What are you doing?” asked Bebedora curiously after staring at the boy for a minute. “You show the blue of sorrow and deep regret…”
“I’m praying for the woman who was buried here,” said the boy quietly. “No one else is willing to; even after all she did for them. It’s not right, so I’m going to pray enough for all of them, whether they want me to or not.”
“So…you are sad because you have to pray so much?” asked Bebedora.
“No,” said the boy, “I’m sad because Lady Nafia is dead.”
“You are sad because someone is dead…” said Bebedora thoughtfully. “Would you still be sad if it was someone you didn’t know?”
“What?” asked the boy as he scratched his head. “Well, I don’t think I’d be AS sad.” He looked at Bebedora before saying, “I’m Maru. I’m a prince, you know! What’s your name?”
“I am Bebedora,” said Bebedora. “I was created to destroy the world.”
“You say that so matter-of-factly,” said Maru with a smile. “Are you sure your heart is in it?”
“My…heart…?” asked Bebedora. “I do not understand…”
“Well, it’s like this,” said Maru, “The only way you can really want to do something is if you’re doing it without being ordered to. You say you were created to destroy the world…but do you really want to?”
“I…never thought about it…” said Bebedora slowly.
“Besides, I’d be sad if you destroyed the world,” said Maru, making Bebedora cant her head to the side. “After all, everyone I know lives here. And if you destroyed the world, you would die too, and now that I know you, that would make me sad as well.”
“You would…feel sad…if I died?” asked Bebedora quietly. “You are very interesting. I would not want to make you sad, so I will not destroy the world.”
“All right!” said Maru. “I saved the entire world! I’m a hero!” He laughed a little before hugging Bebedora and twirling her around.
“Pure white…” said Bebedora.
“Huh?” asked Maru.
“Your emotions…pure white…an innocent kindness that I have never felt before,” said Bebedora. “It is pleasant. I wish to see you again…and again… I do not wish to stop seeing you.”
“Are you asking to be my friend?” asked Maru. Bebedora blushed and nodded. “Nah! That’s just silly! You don’t have to ask! We’ve been friends for a good minute already, right?”
“Yes!” said Bebedora happily before they both turned as a burly man and the girl named Paulette entered the graveyard and called to Maru.
“I’ll see you around, okay?” he asked.
“Count on it…hee hee…” giggled Bebedora mischievously as she watched him run over to his friends. “You are someone that I should keep my eye on.”
It is odd… thought Bebedora. The divine ruler created me, and allowed me to travel with them. They have such interesting feelings. Red…the color of hatred. Green…the color of jealousy. Blue…the color of sadness. She thought some more, stretching her neck a little and wincing slightly as her head snapped back into place. And then, the one who is always pure white, the color of kindness, when I am around. She turned as she heard them running up behind her.
“Bebedora!” roared Darc, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“I am doing what I have been ordered to…” said Bebedora quietly.
“Bebedora?” asked Camellia quietly as she walked up to the girl and placed her hand on Bebedora’s shoulder. “Are you okay?”
“Get away…” said Bebedora harshly as she whipped around and swung her bunny at Camellia. Camellia hopped back in time to avoid being hit, but one of the nails scratched the back of her hand.
“What is she doing?!” asked Tatjiana. “I thought she was your friend?!”
“Stop this at once, Bebedora!” growled Darc. “You work for me, remember?!”
“Actually, she works for me,” boomed the voice of the divine ruler.
“You knew that when I joined you,” said Bebedora quietly. “I told you that I was a puppet of the divine ruler and that I was only going to work with you because the divine ruler had no use for me at the time.”
“No, Bebedora!” said Maru desperately. “You’re my friend!”
“Destroy them all for me Bebedora, and then you can help me destroy the world!” laughed the divine ruler.
“But…if I destroy the world, Maru would be sad…” said Bebedora slowly, “I do not wish him to be sad. It is painful to me to see him sad.”
“You WILL obey me!” roared the divine ruler. “You are my puppet! My slave! And you will follow my orders!”
“No!” cried Maru. “Bebedora isn’t your slave! She’s her own person!”
“Maru…” said Bebedora calmly. “I cannot go against my master. I do not wish for you or Darc to die. You are fun to be around. Please, leave before I kill you.” Bebedora staggered as if hit by a bolt of lightning before shaking her head and grinning at the others. “Hee hee…the darkness has called. I am Bebedora. I am a monster created by the divine ruler to destroy the world.” Maru took a step back as Tatjana, Camellia and Darc ran for the elevator, but before they could reach it, two huge silver dragons crashed down in front of them.
“What the hell?!” cried Tatjana.
“These are my servants,” hissed Bebedora. “They were given to me to help me kill you all!” She giggled mischievously as the dragons started stomping towards the others.
“Bebedora, please stop this!” cried Maru.
“Give it up, Maru!” said Tatjana. “We have to kill Bebedora. She’s the one controlling these dragons!”
“Typical human,” growled Darc, “You wouldn’t say that if it was a human being controlled. But, you’re right…”
“No!” cried Maru, “There’s got to be another way! I can’t kill her!”
“Then stay back and cry!” roared Darc. “It’s better for her to die then to be that bastard’s plaything! Camellia, back me up!” Darc raced towards Bebedora, his sword raised. Bebedora didn’t even try to move as the two silver dragons flew to intercept, but Camellia and Tatjana fired at them, holding them back. Bebedora grinned as Darc brought his sword down, easily blocking the swing with her bunny rabbit, before knocking Darc’s sword away.
“What the…?!” gasped Darc as Bebedora swung her bunny around, knocking him to the ground. “How did she get so strong?” He looked up in alarm as Bebedora raised her bunny rabbit over her head and was about to strike when an arrow flew straight and true, plunging into her chest.
Bebedora slowly looked down at the arrow in shock before looking up at Maru, who still held his bow, tears streaming down his face. “Thank…you…my…friend…” she coughed slightly before collapsing to the ground.
“Bebedora!” cried Maru as he ran over and held the small girl in his hands.
“What about the…” started Tatjana, but the dragons vanished as soon as Bebedora collapsed. “I guess with the controller…” she started before stopping herself.
“Bebedora!” sobbed Maru as he held her head against his chest and wailed.
“A human…crying about the death of a Deimos…” mused Darc as he slowly got up and retrieved his sword. “I didn’t realize he liked her that much…”
“I suppose you’re happy about this,” Camellia spat at Tatjana, but was surprised to see a look of sorrow on her face.
“Who could be happy about seeing something like this…” asked Tatjana quietly.
“Get up, kid…” growled Darc. “Stop crying and we’ll have our revenge!”
Maru slowly closed his eyes and nodded. He gently laid Bebedora down on the platform before standing up and looking at Darc with eyes that a Deimos would be proud of. “Yes,” he said, “It’s time to take that bastard down!” Darc actually smiled as he let Maru pass him to take the lead to the elevator.
This boy might actually help bridge the gap… he mused to himself. He took one last look back at Bebedora before turning to the elevator, but quickly whirled around when he realized that she was standing up and looking around in confusion.
“I am Bebedora…” she said as she tilted her head this way and that. “My strings have been cut…I am not being controlled…by anyone… How odd…”
“Bebedora!” cried Maru, too stunned to move, “You’re alive!”
“And here we were, worried about you…” grumbled Darc gruffly, even though he couldn’t hide his smile.
Bebedora looked down at the arrow in her chest and grabbed it, gently tugging it from her dress, and pulling a large blue stone with it. The stone had been pierced by the arrow and was all but destroyed. She looked at the stone curiously for a second before looking at Darc and saying, “I know you…are you my master?”
Darc shook his head, “I’m your friend.”
“Bebedora!” cried Maru happily as he tackled the girl to the ground, hugging her tightly.
“You seem familiar…” she said quietly. “But…you are strange. You are showing a light pink feeling of relief as well as a bright red of joy, but you are crying. Are you broken?”
“Shut up…” said Maru quietly. “I’m just fine…just never do that to me again!”
“That was an order,” said Bebedora. “Does this mean that you are my master now, Maru?”
“No!” said Maru. “You have no master! I’m…I’m your friend…”
“Deep red of embarrassment and dark blue of self loathing…” said Bebedora quizzically. “I do not understand…are you happy or not?” Maru blushed deeply as he stood up and helped her to her feet.
Tatjana chuckled a little. “What?” asked Camellia.
“I think Maru wanted to say something a little different than friend,” said Tatjana with a devious smile as she walked away.
“And you’re okay with that?!” asked Camellia incredulously. She frowned as the two stood there, Maru getting more and more embarrassed as Bebedora continued to innocently ask probing questions.
“You’re free now, Bebedora,” said Maru quietly, trying desperately to change the subject. “You don’t have a master. No one can ever truly order you around again.”
“Am I really free?” asked Bebedora quietly. She stared at Maru for a few seconds before asking, “If I am free…can I be like you?”
Maru pulled at his pants and said, “Of course! You can do anything you want…within reason, of course…”
“Then…then I want to be free!” said Bebedora excitedly. “I want to be like Maru and feel all the emotions in the world, from joy to sadness! I want them all!”
“Yes, yes, yes…” growled Darc. “Can we go already?”
“Yeah!” said Maru happily as he started to dash off, stopping when Bebedora grabbed his hand and squeezed it gently. He looked back at her and stared when he saw that she was smiling and blushing gently at him. It took him a few seconds but he smiled back and squeezed her hand too before they both ran after Darc and the others.
Two years since then, thought Maru as he paced back and forth. I haven’t seen or heard from her or Camellia since they left to show Bebedora the world. What do I do now?
“Prince Yumalnoh!” said Savina sternly. “Are you paying attention to us?!”
More than you realize, thought Maru while actually saying, “What? Sorry, wasn’t paying attention.”
Savina sighed deeply as she looked over at Lady Rosanna. “You’re not being fair to Foh,” said Rosanna, “She needs an answer just as much as we do.”
Maru sighed. She’s right. I can’t continue to play with Foh’s feelings like this. And it HAS been two years without any word. Maybe she’s forgotten about me. I should do what’s best for the kingdom…my needs come after that. He turned and was about to say something when someone entered the room.
“Um…excuse me…” said the boy. He was a little younger than Maru and looked very embarrassed to be interrupting. “I was looking for the guild master…”
“That’s me!” said Maru happily as he walked over. “Thanks” he hissed at the newcomer. “You just saved me a lot of trouble.” He grinned before suddenly shouting. “You’ve got to be kidding me! Really?!” He turned to Rosanna and Savina and said, “I’m sorry, but there’s been some trouble at the guild. I’ve got to go take care of it.” He winked at the boy before dashing off. As he passed by Foh, she gave him an enigmatic smile that left him wondering for a second before continuing to the guild.
“Finally gonna have a party!” said Maru excitedly as he traveled to Yewbell. “I haven’t seen Paulette, Ganz or Tatjana in years! Too bad Kharg isn’t around. I wonder if Paulette’s heard from him…or her…?” He shook his head. “No! Gonna be happy! This is all about Paulette and eating lots of good food!” He smiled as he entered Chaos Forest. “This is where it all started for me!” he said as he looked around at his old haunts. “They called me a wild monkey monster… I wonder if I even still have that mask back at home.” He sighed as he remembered the last time he was in Chaos Forest. That was when he had learned that the funny girl that he’d just met was a monster, but he didn’t care. She was still fun to talk to, and she didn’t seem to mind that he was human either. “Dammit!” he snapped, “I said I’m gonna be happy! Stop thinking about her!” He veritably stomped into Yewbell, causing the local kids to start screaming that the monkey monster was back. That caused him to stop and chuckle a little before heading to the Yewbell Guild House. He was in a good mood again when he entered Kharg’s old house and saw Edda looking at the notice board. “Hey Edda! Howz it going?”
“Hey Maru,” said Edda, “What are you doing here?”
“We’re throwing a party to celebrate Paulette becoming the head of the Yewbell Defense Corps,” said Maru. “Tatjana and Ganz are coming here too!”
“Wow!” said Edda, “That’s impressive!”
“So, all the heroes under one roof, huh?” asked Hemo.
“Uh…no…” said Maru nervously. “Not even all of the human heroes are going to be here.”
“Human heroes?” asked Edda.
“Yeah,” said Maru, “Didn’t you know that the heroes were five humans, four Deimos, one monster, one demon and one robot?”
“What?!” asked Hemo. “That’s a lie!”
“Well…okay,” said Maru. “Diekbeck: the robot and Choco: the demon weren’t really considered heroes as well, but the rest of it is true. But, Kharg is off helping people on another continent. And you won’t be seeing the Diemos here. Delma and Volk still don’t care for us much. I have no clue where the other two Deimos are…”
“Wait…” said Edda, “You mentioned a monster too. What about that one?”
“Well…I…” started Maru before Paulette walked in.
“Hey guys,” she said, “Sorry, but the party’s just gonna have to wait. I’ve got so many things to do. Besides, Ganz and Tatjana won’t be here for another hour, at least.”
“But! What about all the good food! It’ll go to waste waiting in there! Not being eaten!” cried Maru.
Paulette giggled. “I missed you too,” she said as she ruffled his hair. “Don’t eat anything until everyone’s here!” she said sternly before dashing out.
“I should be going too,” said Edda. “Some guy named Morth says he knows where the malademons are coming from.”
“Now, you’ve got to be lying!” said Maru with a grin.
“What’d you say?!” growled Hemo.
“N-nothing!” gulped Maru.
“Stop it, Hemo,” said Edda as the little slothian started laughing. “I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’m going to check it out. See ya!”
“Yeah, bye,” said Maru as he looked around the guild building. Now what am I supposed to do to keep my mind off of her? he thought to himself before sighing.
“Congratulations on the new title,” said Ganz gruffly as he walked into the room.
“Gee, thanks!” said Maru happily. “I didn’t know you cared!”
Ganz glared at Maru for a second before letting out a deep belly laugh. “You haven’t changed a bit, have you?” he said. “Where’s Paulette? This is her party isn’t it?”
“She’s talking to Edda,” said Maru. “He just got done with a job and wanted to talk with her.”
Ganz’s smile faded as soon as he heard Edda’s name. “He’s a good hunter,” he said, “Is it something serious?”
“You could say that,” said Paulette as she and Edda entered the room. “Edda’s found Ursula, and apparently she released a huge malademon under Scrappe Plateau just so she could test out a new type of gun.”
“It was the same type of gun as the one Zeeman had,” said Edda quietly, “Only this one actually worked.”
“I saw it!” said Hemo, “She’s got to be the leader of Truth Sword!”
“…” said Edda. “She didn’t deny it…”
“You really should close the door if you’re going to have a conversation like this,” said Tatjana as she calmly strode into the room and closed the door behind her. “I could hear you as soon as I entered the building.”
“Tatjana…” said Edda quietly.
“What is all this about, exactly?” asked Tatjana.
“Ursula is the leader of Truth Sword and she has a gun that can destroy souls!” said Hemo excitedly.
“Uh…that’s impossible,” said Tatjana.
“No, it’s true!” said Hemo. “She used Truth Sword to get the materials from the Neo-Dilzweld Army! Remember the deal with Rodion? That’s what they were getting materials for! Her Ultimate Doomsday Weapon! We saw it in action!”
“And I’m telling you that that’s not possible with the materials that they were getting,” said Tatjana calmly. “That weapon would have no effect on humans.”
“It didn’t really have all that much effect against the malademon either,” said Edda. “I had to actually finish it off.” He thought about it for a short while. “She left before the malademon revived…she thinks it works! I’ve got to find her before she does something dangerous! I’m sorry! I have to go!” He dashed from the room before anyone could react.
“Hey! Edda! Wait for me!” cried Hemo as he waddled after his friend.
“He really cares about her,” sighed Paulette.
“We’re going to be busy…” grumbled Ganz. “I’m sorry Paulette, but I have to go get things ready. This may turn out to be a very bad time.”
“No problem,” said Paulette, “I was planning on canceling the party anyway. We can’t celebrate in the middle of a major crisis.”
“See you later then,” said Ganz as he quickly strode out of the room.
Paulette was about to follow him when Maru asked, “Hey Paulette, have you heard from Kharg at all?” Tatjana was at the doorway when Maru asked the question. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she turned and looked at him.
“Yes, actually,” said Paulette with a smile. “He’s doing some good work helping set up new settlements for humans. They just hit water when he wrote to me this last time. If you want to see any of the letters, come back when we have some spare time.”
“I see…” said Maru quietly, “I…I’ll do that…” Paulette looked confused by Maru’s response but shrugged and waved as she ran out of the room.
“Are you still thinking about that Deimos girl?” asked Tatjana after closing the door.
“She’s not a Deimos…she’s a monster…” said Maru.
“And that’s supposed to make it better?” asked Tatjana as she arched an eyebrow.
“I’m just saying…” mumbled Maru.
“I shouldn’t be telling you this, but I really can’t stand to see you looking so miserable,” sighed Tatjana. “I received a letter from Camellia.”
“What?!” cried Maru. “She’s the one that Bebedora went off with! Where are they?! Is Bebedora okay?!”
“The girl’s fine,” said Tatjana. “She is apparently still just as enamored with you as you are with her, much to Camellia’s chagrin.”
“What?” asked Maru, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Camellia took Bebedora away with the hope that your absence would get Bebedora to start thinking about settling down with a Deimos boy,” said Tatjana. “She still doesn’t trust us humans, and considering what I did to her, I can’t blame her either. I think the only reason she sent this to me is that she thinks I would see her reasoning and try to dissuade you myself.”
“Where are they?” asked Maru quietly, but firmly.
“I don’t know,” said Tatjana. “Camellia sent me a package with no return address.” She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small opened manila envelope. “It contains most of the letters that Bebedora gave to Camellia to mail to you, along with specific instructions not to give them to you.”
“Most of them?!” cried Maru as he snatched the envelope out of Tatjana’s hands.
“She burned all of the ones that would have told you where they were,” said Tatjana. “She really doesn’t want you two seeing each other.”
“It’s not her choice!” shouted Maru angrily. He held the envelope tightly in his hands as he walked to the door. “Sorry for shouting at you like that,” he said quietly, his voice trembling as he quickly left.
“That boy’s in really bad shape,” sighed Tatjana. “Maybe I can help.”
Here I am again, being hounded by those two, thought Maru angrily as he paced back and forth in front of Savina and Rosanna. He had read through all of the letters that he’d received from Tatjana and knew that Bebedora was thinking of him just as much, if not more, than he was thinking of her. But it’s all so frustrating! I have no idea where she is and even though she knows exactly what Camellia is doing, she doesn’t know what to do about it, so we’re both stuck!
“Prince Yumalnoh!” snapped Savina, “How much longer do you plan to skirt the issue?!”
“Foh needs an answer!” pleaded Rosanna, “And so do the people of Milmarna”
Damn, thought Maru, I can’t keep evading this forever. Those two will just keep on me until I give in. I love Foh, just not like that. What should I do?
His question was answered when Edda walked into the room. “Uh…hi again…” he said.
“Edda! You’re awake!” said Maru happily. “You’ve been out of it for a while now. I was really worried!” He walked over to Edda and slapped him on the back before looking shocked and saying, “Are you serious?! Again?!” He turned to Savina and Rosanna and said, “I’m sorry, something really important just came up at the guild. I have to go!” He quickly turned and bolted for the door, but one of Savina’s aides got in the way. “What?! Aw, busted…”
“Prince Yumalnoh!” said Savina sternly, “You WILL give us an answer…NOW!”
Maru hissed at Edda, “You’re too slow!” before turning to Savina and Rosanna and saying, “All right. I’m a prince and should probably start acting like one. I’ll fulfill my duty and marry Foh!” He said it happily, but inside he was dying. I’m sorry Bebedora, but it’s for the sake of my kingdom.
“Finally!” said Savina happily. “This is wonderful news!” She turned to her aide and said, “Fetch Foh for us, please.” The aide bowed and left.
“You’ve made a good decision, Prince Yumalnoh,” said Rosanna gently. “Foh will be so happy.”
“You called for me?” said Foh politely as she walked into the room.
“Prince Yumalnoh has finally made the decision to marry you!” said Rosanna happily.
Foh stared blankly at her mother for a few seconds before asking, “Huh?”
“I’m ready to marry you and make our kingdom great!” said Maru. “I’ve been thinking about it for awhile now, actually. I’m an adult, and it’s time that I start acting like one. I can’t keep chasing my childish little dreams.”
“But…but, Maru...you want to be free to live your life the way you want to…don’t you?” asked Foh.
“Well, yeah…but…” started Maru.
“Well, if you won’t live freely, then I will in your place,” said Foh succinctly before turning and walking from the room, leaving everyone staring after her.
“She’ll be so happy, huh?” mumbled Savina, but Rosanna was in a state of shock and wouldn’t have heard her if she’d shouted.
“Well, guess that’s the end of that…” said Maru.
“Did you know that was going to happen?” asked Edda in a hushed tone.
“If I’d known she was going to do that, I would have said I would marry her a long time ago,” said Maru. He winked at Edda again before running from the room. As he exited the palace he saw Foh walking along the path up to a small island. She calmly sat underneath a tree and turned an expectant gaze over at him. He slowly walked over and sat down next to her before quietly asking, “What was that all about?”
“I want you to be happy,” said Foh calmly. “And I want you to introduce her to me, as well.”
Maru chuckled mirthlessly as he said, “That’s going to be a little difficult. I’m not sure where she is.”
“You can’t find her?!” asked Foh incredulously. “How could she hide? You have a far greater gift than I do!”
“There’s a Pianta Sage hiding her from me,” said Maru, venom dripping from his words.
“A Pianta?” asked Foh, “Then this girl is…?”
“She’s not a Deimos…but she’s not human either,” said Maru. “She was originally created by the Divine Ruler, but she rebelled against him…and I love her, very much.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out the letters that Bebedora had written, handing them to Foh. She took them and slowly read through them, chuckling on occasion.
“This girl…loves you very much as well,” said Foh as she handed the letters back to him. “More than I ever could…”
“Foh…” said Maru, “I’m sorry, but…I’ve always loved you like family…I can’t just…”
“I know,” said Foh. “In all truth, I feel the same way. Now that cutie that was in the room with you is another question all together.”
“Edda?” asked Maru. “Good choice! If you’re serious, you have my consent.”
“No, not him!” said Foh as she blushed a little. “The little guy with Edda.”
“Hemo?!” hissed Maru. “But he’s a…a…”
“So, it’s okay for you to date a monster, but not for me to date a Deimos?” asked Foh.
“No!” said Maru, “I’ve got no problem with that! It’s just that he’s a…slothian…”
“You have really got to get over that silly fear of yours,” said Foh. “Besides, Hemo isn’t a wild slothian. He’s just a cute little guy.”
Maru looked at Foh strangely before sighing and shaking his head. “Well, that settles it then,” he said. When Foh looked confused he smiled and said, “We’re both crazy!” Maru and Foh laughed a little before hugging. “I’ve got to get back to the guild,” said Maru as he stood and helped Foh to her feet. “I’ll see you around!” He waved as he dashed away.
It wasn’t until he was out of sight that Foh smiled. “It won’t be long before you’re together again,” she said quietly.
“Congratulations, Edda!” cried Maru. “You’re a real hero now!”
“I’m very impressed,” said Ganz. “No one’s made it past the Arc exam before.”
“You’re now an official Hero like the rest of us,” said Paulette.
“I knew you had it in you,” said Tatjana.
“I’ve seen him, can I go back to running my town now?” asked Delma petulantly.
“Not bad for a human,” growled Volk.
“Uh…thanks everyone,” said Edda nervously.
“Speech! Speech!” called Maru.
“Um…I…” stammered Edda.
“Come on,” said Paulette, “Let’s leave him alone. He’s obviously not used to the attention.”
“You’d better get used to it,” said Tatjana with a smile, “You’re going to get more and more attention as your reputation grows.”
“I’m expecting great things from you, Hunter Edda,” said Ganz as he clapped Edda on the back, almost toppling the young boy.
The heroes filed out of the arena, leaving Edda shaking and confused, much to Maru’s amusement. He was chuckling softly to himself when someone called out to him. “Hey!” called the gruff female voice. “Human Maru! Come here!”
Maru turned and was shocked to see Delma standing a few feet away, looking as pissed as always. “What’d I do wrong?” asked Maru nervously.
“Nothing!” snapped Delma. “Tatjana said you had a desperate need to get into contact with Camellia and I happen to know that she’s gonna be coming to Aldrow for supplies. She’ll be there in five days.”
“Really?!” asked Maru excitedly. “Thank you!” He hugged Delma, causing her to swat him away.
“Don’t get all touchie-feelie with me!” she roared.
“I’m sorry,” said Maru, “I just…I really need to see her!”
“I know,” grumbled Delma. “Just be there on time because I’m not going to hold them for you! And if you cause any trouble, I’ll personally see to it that you spend the rest of your days rotting in our jail!” She growled internally as she turned and stalked off.
“Thanks again!” called Maru happily as he thought, I’m finally gonna see her again! Now we can be together! And no one will get in our way. He started whistling as he veritably skipped out of Rueloon and headed back to Milmarna.
“Thanks for bringing me here, Edda,” said Maru, “I’m not really scared of Deimos…but…”
“It’s no problem,” said Edda, “There’s someone working here that I wanted to visit anyway.”
“You have a friend who lives in Orcoth?” asked Maru.
“Sort of,” said Edda, “A doctor. Girl named Kirika. She’s helping out the old guy in the broken down train. Good luck with Delma!” He waved before taking off, leaving Maru looking around the front gate.
“Guess I shouldn’t just stand around here,” he said as he wandered down the stairs, getting dirty looks from all of the Deimos that he passed. He was getting really nervous until he spotted the guild. “Maybe I can just wait it out in there,” he said as he dashed up to the door, stopping dead when the door opened and a huge blue Lupine stalked out. “Hi…Mister Volk…” he said, hoping to the spirits that he kept the quaver out of his voice.
“You’re the human called Maru…correct?” growled Volk.
“That’s me,” said Maru, “We saw each other in Rueloon.”
“Yes,” said Volk, “Darc mentioned you before he left to find a world for us Deimos to live without you humans. He said that you were different; that you could help bridge the gap between our races if he failed.”
“He said all that about me?” asked Maru.
“Yes,” said Volk, “but he never explained why. The only human that’s ever impressed me anywhere near that way is that hunter, Edda, but I wouldn’t say that he could bridge the gap. What’s so special about you?”
“I’m not sure,” said Maru, “But, I don’t want to let him down. He is a great man, and deserves my respect.”
Volk growled approvingly at Maru’s compliment and was about to say something when a girl’s voice called, “Maru!!!” Maru and Volk both turned just in time to see a red blur tackle Maru to the ground. Volk looked down in shock as Bebedora hugged the stunned Maru tightly. “I have missed you so much!” she said. “See! I am free now, so I am like you!”
“You sure are!” laughed Maru as he finally got his breath back and hugged her right back. “You even stole my tackle!”
“What’s going on here?!” demanded Volk.
“What’s that boy doing here?!” demanded another voice as Camellia strode up to the small group. “What’s your business here in Deimos territory, boy?”
“I was told that you’d be here today, so I came and waited for you,” said Maru as he stood up and got in front of Bebedora.
“Get away from her, human!” snapped Camellia. “Bebedora! We’re leaving!”
“No,” said Bebedora quietly.
“What?!” asked Camellia.
“I am staying…with Maru…” said Bebedora. “I appreciate you taking the time to teach me about the world, but you will not keep me from him anymore.”
“Volk! Do something!” cried Camellia.
Volk growled menacingly as he brought out his hatchet, but Maru stood his ground. Volk roared as he reared back, but halted when he saw the look in Maru’s eyes. It was a look of solid determination that he had never seen in a human’s eyes before. “I see…that’s what he meant,” mused Volk. He shook his head as he put his hatchet away. “Go on, kid. Get out of here,” he growled, “And take that monster with you.”
“But Volk…!” started Camellia.
“But nothing!” roared Volk. “Darc left Delma in charge of this village and me in charge of everything else! And these two aren’t members of this village!”
“Maybe not, but they’re in the village now!” snarled Delma as she walked up and scowled at Maru. “Didn’t I tell you not to cause any trouble while you were here?! Do you want to spend the rest of your life in our cell?!”
“It is all my fault, Delma,” said Bebedora. “If you must punish someone for this, please punish me.”
“Stop it!” hissed Maru before turning to Delma. “I promise there won’t be any more trouble in your village as long as the two of us can leave now.”
Delma’s eyes widened at the implication of what Maru said before turning her eyes on Camellia and frowning even more. “Did you know about this?!” she demanded.
“Yes,” said Camellia, “Which is why I’ve been keeping her away from him! It’s for her own good!”
Delma folded her arms as she turned and glared at Maru. “What do you think of this situation, Volk?” she asked.
“I think it’s not something that we can do anything about,” said Volk. “Let them go and hope for the best. I think Darc would want it this way.”
Delma winced at the sound of Darc’s name but nodded. “Fine, get out of here, you two,” she said, “And I don’t want to see either of your faces around here again!” She turned her back before mumbling, “At least not until you have some kids to show us.” With those words, she stomped away, never once turning back.
“You can’t be serious!” screamed Camellia.
“Not only are we serious, I believe we both feel very strongly about something else,” said Volk in a deathly calm voice before roaring and grabbing Camellia by the throat. “And that’s that you used a very cowardly way to do something that was obviously hurting her! You can say that it’s ‘for her own good’ all you want, but it was really for your own petty satisfaction! You wanted to stick it to this human who has never done a thing to you!” He easily tossed her away before stalking off, roaring at anyone stupid enough to get in his way.
Camellia lay, coughing, on the ground, and was startled when she saw a hand in front of her face. She looked up and saw Maru, holding out his hand to help her up. She smacked his hand away and got up herself. “So, you’ve won boy,” she said, “Why don’t you gloat about it?”
“What’s the point in that?” asked Maru. “I think Bebedora would be angry with me if I made you upset, but I can’t be away from her any longer. You have to understand that we will be okay together.”
“What assurances do I have of that?!” demanded Camellia. “I care about her! But you’re going to take her away to your human world! She’ll be an outcast and won’t be trusted by anyone!”
“I’m not promising that it’ll be perfect,” said Maru quietly. “But I can assure you that I’ll do everything in my power to make her happy.”
“I said that I wanted to feel sorrow as well as happiness when I was freed,” said Bebedora. “I am prepared to feel any emotion that this world has to offer.”
“But…” started Camellia.
“If you’re really worried about never seeing her again, you have nothing to worry about,” said Maru. “We can come visit whenever you want.”
“You would still…?” asked Camellia, “Even after what I did to you two?”
“Of course!” said Bebedora. “I love you, Camellia!” She hugged Camellia tightly before stepping back and holding Maru’s hand.
“The way you’re acting, you’re like Bebedora’s mother,” said Maru. “Do you really think that she wouldn’t want to see her mother again?”
“Mother…?” asked Camellia before laughing a little. “She’s older than I am…”
“I may have been created over a millennium ago,” said Bebedora, “But, I have only been awake for 16 years, and most of those were spent in seclusion getting obedience training from the divine ruler. You are all I really know.”
Camellia sighed and hung her head before saying, “I give in. Volk was right, I was being cowardly. Now go before I change my mind.” Bebedora hugged Camellia again and Maru respectfully bowed to her before the two ran to the entrance of Aldrow where they bumped into Edda and a silver-haired girl.
“What the hell was all that about?” asked Edda, “And who’s she?”
“I’d like to introduce you to my girlfriend!” said Maru happily. Bebedora stretched her neck a little before holding out her hand and grinning. Maru grinned at the shocked looks on Edda’s and the girl’s faces before asking, “Isn’t she cute?”
Bebedora’s reception in Milmarna went exactly like they didn’t want it to. The only person in the entire town who would even talk to her was Foh. The two would spend time together whenever Maru was busy with the guild or the town. “You are pure white as well,” said Bebedora quietly one day.
“What?” asked Foh.
“Your emotions are pure white,” said Bebedora. “Before, when we met they were colored gray with confusion and doubt, but they have become pure again. How odd…”
Foh blushed. “Are you some sort of psychic?” she asked.
“I can see emotions as colors,” said Bebedora. “It is because of this ability that I met Maru and everyone else. If I did not have this ability, I would not have cared about Darc and my other friends at all.”
“I apologize for how I felt before,” said Foh quietly. “I love Maru with all of my heart, and I don’t want him to be unhappy, and I know he’s happy with you…but…”
“But, I am still not human,” finished Bebedora. “I understand your reservations in trusting me.” Bebedora slowly turned her head to look directly at Foh before saying, “You show the deep red of love when you think of Maru. Do you love him too?”
“Uh…well, I…” stammered Foh before sighing, “I do…but not in the way you think. He’s like an older brother to me. I admit that I was a little concerned when I first met you, but you’re a really sweet girl and I can understand why he fell for you.” She watched as Bebedora slowly brought out her bunny rabbit and hugged it tightly, wondering how she did that without hurting herself. “Please, don’t hurt him. I’m begging you.”
“Nah!” said Bebedora, trying out a word that she’d heard Maru say before. “You do not have to beg that of me.” She tried to smile warmly, but only managed a twisted looking grin. “I would not hurt Maru even if someone asked me to. He is special and I will do anything to make sure that he continues to show me his wonderful emotions that cause my insides to twist around.”
“He makes you happy just by being around, doesn’t he?” asked Foh. “I hope to find someone like that.” She sighed as she leaned back against the tree that was behind her before clearing her throat a little. “Uh…I know it’s none of my business, but…how far have you two gone?”
“Gone?” asked Bebedora as she stretched her neck in confusion. “What do you mean? We have stayed in town since I got here.”
“Well…I mean…are you…uh…” stammered Foh before looking around to make sure no one was around. “Are you sleeping together?” she asked in a small whisper.
“We share a bed, yes,” said Bebedora a little more loudly than Foh would have preferred. Fortunately, there weren’t any people around. They tended to stay away from the ‘freak girl.’ “Why? Is there something strange about that? Camellia and I would always curl up together when we slept. It was good for staving away the chill and for protection. Admittedly, it is not cold here, but it is pleasant to watch him sleep. As I look at his face, I have the urge to do something, but I am not sure what.”
“Have you tried kissing him?” asked Foh more amazed at Bebedora’s innocence than anything else.
“I have kissed him, yes,” said Bebedora, “But then Maru seems to get flustered. It is amusing to watch, but he does not seem to enjoy it, so I do not do it when he is awake.”
“So, you kiss him when he’s asleep?” asked Foh.
“Yes,” said Bebedora quietly, “But, then my face gets all hot and I do not know why.”
Now it was Foh’s turn to grin as she said, “That’s just blushing. It’s perfectly natural. It just proves that you really like him.”
“But I knew that already…” said Bebedora, sounding really confused. “Why should I need to prove that I like him?”
“Look, it’s like this…” said Foh before leaning in and whispering furiously in Bebedora’s ear. As Bebedora listened her face got more and more flushed.
“My face is hot again,” said Bebedora tremulously. “Do you think I should try that?”
“Well…” said Foh. “Just try kissing him again when you see him and go from there depending on his reaction.”
“Okay…” said Bebedora quietly. “But are you sure…?”
“Bebedora!” called Maru as he came running up to the two girls.
Bebedora looked at Foh, who just giggled and nodded. Bebedora quickly stood up and tackled Maru to the ground before kissing him on the lips. She quickly turned to Foh and asked, “Did I do it right?” but Foh was laughing too hard to answer.
“W-w-w-w-what is going on?!” stammered Maru after he got his breath back.
“Did you not like that?” asked Bebedora. “You just seem as flustered as usual.”
“It’s not a question…of liking it…” panted Maru as he stared at the girl who was still sitting on his chest.
“Try being a little more subtle next time,” giggled Foh as she stood up and waved at the two, quickly dashing away before Maru could get up and catch her.
“Foh!” Maru shouted at her retreating form, “What did you tell her?!”
“She told me that I should kiss you and go from there,” said Bebedora. “I did not go anywhere, though. Did I do something wrong?”
“No,” said Maru as he slowly sat up and hugged Bebedora. “You didn’t do anything wrong. You just caught me off guard.” He blushed a little before kissing her back. He smiled a little when she blushed at that. “See? It’s not just me that gets flustered when getting kissed!” But, instead of panicking like Maru always did, she leaned and kissed him again, more gently this time. The two shared a long, lasting kiss before Maru ran his fingers through Bebedora’s hair and stood up, scooping her into his arms. “Why don’t we go somewhere else?” he asked. “We could go out to a nearby island and have a picnic.”
“Okay!” said Bebedora happily. The two kissed again before Maru dashed back to the castle, ignoring the disapproving looks from all of the villagers they passed.
Maru whistled as he paddled the small boat toward a large island. They were heading to a small, secluded cove that could only be reached by boat. Bebedora looked around in wonder at the scenery. She’d traveled the ocean before, but never in a small, two person boat. “This is so much fun!” she giggled. “I have never been on a picnic before!”
“Well, then this’ll be a new experience for both of us,” said Maru. “Cause I’ve never taken anyone to this spot before…other than Foh, of course.” Bebedora looked back, her head tilted quizzically. “It was two years ago,” said Maru. “Foh was showing me around the islands and we got caught in a bad storm. We would have wrecked if Foh hadn’t kept her head. We paddled like crazy and landed in that cove over there.” He pointed and Bebedora turned just as the boat landed. She looked around in wonder at the cove. It was surrounded by large plants and would never be seen from the sea. The only way anyone would even realize it was there would be if they knew exactly where it was.
“It’s beautiful,” she said as she skipped out of the boat and ran around. Maru walked up to her and motioned for her to follow him. She smiled and let him lead her further in. They hiked through a dense clump of bushes and trees, Maru being a perfect gentleman and holding the branches out until Bebedora had passed them, but one got away from him and before he could catch it, it had whipped around and knocked Bebedora’s hat off. Bebedora stopped dead and whipped her head around wildly. “Maru!” she cried. “Where is my hat?! Where are you?!”
“It’s okay,” said Maru calmly as he picked up her hat. “I’ve got it right here.”
“No, it is not okay!” said Bebedora tremulously. “Please! I need my hat!”
Maru looked at Bebedora’s panicked face and realized why she was panicking. “Bebedora…are you blind?” he asked quietly.
Bebedora’s milky white eyes stared through Maru as he placed her hat in her hands. She quickly placed her hat back on her head before sighing with relief. “I am sorry for how I acted,” she said quietly. “But, I feel very…vulnerable…without my hat. To go from a world where vibrant colors are bursting all around me to pitch blackness everywhere I look is very…unsettling.” She shivered involuntarily as she quickly brought out her bunny and hugged it tightly. “The divine ruler made me this way so that he could control me,” she said. “The first time he took my hat off, he left me alone without it for over an hour. He said that I would do as he said or he would take it from me permanently.”
“I’m sorry,” said Maru as he hugged Bebedora tightly, from behind to avoid being impaled on her bunny rabbit. “I didn’t know. But, just remember, as long as I’m near, you never have to be afraid.”
“Afraid?” asked Bebedora. “So…that is fear… I do not wish to feel that emotion…never again… My heart felt like it was going to burst. I wanted to cry and scream and just curl up into a little ball, but I did not want to move. I hate that feeling.”
“It’s okay,” whispered Maru softly into her ear as he gently kissed her neck. “You’re gonna be okay. I won’t let anything hurt you.” He heard Bebedora moan softly as she brought a hand up and clutched his tightly. “Are you feeling better?” he asked.
“Yes,” sighed Bebedora. “I am sorry for ruining the day…”
“You did nothing of the sort!” said Maru as he twirled her around and continued to lead her into the forest. “As a matter of fact, I think you’ll need this all the more because of what just happened.”
The two pressed on in silence for a short while before Bebedora quietly said, “Maru?”
“Yeah?” asked Maru.
“Are you angry with me?” asked Bebedora.
“Why would I be angry with you?” asked Maru as he stopped dead and looked back at her.
“Because I did not tell you that I could not see without my hat,” said Bebedora. “I should not have hidden that from you. Please, do not hate me. I could not bear it!”
“Didn’t I just say that you don’t have to be afraid if I’m nearby?” asked Maru. “I actually meant it.” He grinned as he said, “Besides, it would take a hell of a lot to get me to hate you!”
Bebedora blushed as she smiled and said, “Are you sure you are not upset?”
“I will get upset if you don’t stop asking that,” said Maru jokingly. “Now come on, we’re wasting fun time!” Bebedora watched Maru turn and leave, smiling happily before dashing to catch up with him. After another minute of hiking Maru turned back and smiled before suddenly disappearing into a dense clump of bushes. “Maru?” called Bebedora.
“I’m here!” called Maru. “Come on!” Bebedora frowned a little before shrugging and digging through the bushes and emerging into the sun. She gasped and squealed happily as she looked around and saw the beautiful little clearing that Maru had led her to. There was a verdant little meadow leading up to a small pond that was being fed by a tiny waterfall. Wildflowers of every color were growing all around. Bebedora had the sudden urge to sing, and didn’t really know why. Fortunately, she quelled it.
“This place is wonderful!” said Bebedora happily.
“I knew you’d like it,” said Maru as he set their picnic basket down. “Now, the question is…would you rather we ate first, or do you want to relax, or maybe go for a swim?”
“A swim?” asked Bebedora.
“Yeah,” said Maru, “Splash around in the water, dunking each other, that sort of thing.”
“I have never dealt with the water unless it was bathing…” said Bebedora. “I do not know how to swim.”
“Then let’s just relax and have some food,” said Maru, “and I can teach you the basics after that.” Bebedora nodded happily and they ate the food they’d prepared.
“So,” said Bebedora as they were laying on the blanket, staring up at the sky. “What do I have to do to start swimming?”
“Nothing right now,” said Maru. “It’s dangerous to swim right after eating.”
Bebedora slowly rolled over onto Maru and looked down at him. “So, what do you want to do instead?” she asked.
“Well…” said Maru nervously, “We could lay here and talk…” He noticed that her face was slowly getting closer to his own and he loudly swallowed before continuing. “Or we could do what you want…” he managed to croak out before their lips met.
“Maru,” whispered Bebedora as their lips parted, “I want to try something. I am neither a human, nor a Deimos. I am nothing more than a life entity inhabiting this artificial body, so I do not even know if this will work, but I am asking you…to love me…physically…” Her face turned bright red as she stared at Maru’s shocked face before starting to crawl off of him. She stopped when he grabbed her hands.
“Where are you going?” asked Maru.
“You seemed to…” started Bebedora before Maru put a finger to her lips.
“Did I say anything that would scare you off?” asked Maru.
“You didn’t say anything at all,” pouted Bebedora.
Maru chuckled a little. “Sorry,” he said, “You just caught me off guard is all.” He stared up at her for a few seconds before asking, “Uh…out of curiosity, how much do you know about the act of making love?”
Bebedora blushed a little as she said, “Only what Foh told me a few hours ago… It all sounds so complicated…but it is supposed to be the ultimate act of love…so I wish to do it with you.” She looked a little concerned as she saw his colors all jumbling together, each one trying to be dominant. “Did I say the wrong thing?”
“No,” said Maru quietly, “I’m just thinking about whether now would really be the best time.”
“Best time?” asked Bebedora curiously.
“We’re not wed to each other,” said Maru, “and my people don’t like you.” He sighed heavily as he hugged her tightly. “Doing something like that could make our situation even more complicated than it already is. I don’t like the idea of letting other people rule our lives…but…I can’t just ignore them either.” Bebedora slowly crawled off of Maru before kneeling next to him and gently cradling his head in her lap. “I don’t know what to do to get them to accept you,” said Maru sadly. “Foh and I have tried so hard, but they think that if you didn’t exist then Foh and I would get married and suddenly bring stability to Milmarna…even though there’s plenty of stability anyway!”
“Shhhh…” whispered Bebedora as she gently stroked Maru’s hair. “It is okay…”
“I’m so sorry for how my people treat you,” said Maru as he started to cry. “They can’t see past what you are to see who you are, and I…”
“Stop it…” said Bebedora softly. “Please… Your emotions are painful to look at. I do not want to be the cause of your suffering, so please…”
“Bebedora… you know it’s not you,” said Maru.
“It is because of me that your mind is in turmoil,” said Bebedora. “Please rest awhile and put your mind at ease.” Maru protested a little but eventually closed his eyes and tried to relax. Bebedora started humming a tune that she’d heard in the village, making Maru chuckle. “What is it?” asked Bebedora.
“That’s a funeral march…” said Maru, trying desperately to keep a straight face, and failing miserably after Bebedora started pouting. “Don’t be upset!” he cackled. “It’s a pretty song…this just isn’t the right time for it…that’s all.” He quickly sat up and slipped out of most of his clothes, staying in his briefs. “Come on!” he said, “Let’s have that swim!” Bebedora stared at Maru as he ran up to the edge of the lake and dove into the water. He burst to the surface, his teeth chattering and furiously rubbing his arms. “T-t-the waters f-f-f-fine!” he said, “C-c-come on in-n-n-n!” Bebedora hesitated but Maru’s, admittedly shivery looking, smile won her over. She let out a long, slow breath, stood up, and pulled her dress over her head. It was then that Maru learned that Bebedora didn’t bother wearing underwear. He also fully understood why she wasn’t sure if they could have sex. He could see the ball joints at her knees, hips, elbows and shoulders; as well as the joints on her fingers after she removed her gloves. Bebedora hung her head and looked away at the same time that Maru realized he was staring. “I’m sorry,” he said as he quickly looked away. “I’ve never seen you…you know…before…”
“That is true…” said Bebedora bashfully. “I have always changed whenever you were not around. It was mostly because I was afraid of how you would feel about me when you saw what I really was.” She frowned as she looked up and declared, “But I do not have to worry about that, because you will love me no matter what!” She hesitated before blushing and quietly adding, “Right?”
“Of course!” said Maru. He seemed to be mulling over something before nodding and diving under the water. He reemerged a few seconds later, saying, “It’s not exactly fair for you to be the only one without any clothes on!” He tossed his wet briefs to the shore before holding out his hand for Bebedora. “Come on in,” he said with a smile.
Bebedora blushed before taking his hand. She let out a small yelp as Maru pulled her into the water with a loud laugh. Bebedora clawed her way to the surface and pouted at the cackling Maru before grinning and tackling him underwater herself. The two playfully attacked each other in the water for about half an hour before slowly climbing onto the bank and lying on the grass, panting and giggling. “That was very fun,” said Bebedora happily. “Thank you for bringing me here.” She shivered a little as a breeze blew past them.
“Come on,” said Maru, “Let’s dry off before we catch a cold.” He turned around and grabbed a pair of towels, wrapping himself up in one. He looked at Bebedora and quietly asked, “May I?” while gesturing to her hat. She trembled a little, but nodded. He gently removed Bebedora’s hat, wincing slightly as she immediately gripped his arms tightly. “It’s okay,” he whispered soothingly. “I’m right here. I’m not going to leave you alone.” Maru breathed a silent sigh of relief as Bebedora’s grip loosened, but she refused to let him go. “Bebedora, I need my hands here.”
“Please…do not make me let you go…” whispered Bebedora, the fear evident in her voice.
“But, I can’t do anything if my hands aren’t free,” protested Maru. The two seemed to be at an impasse until Maru took a small step forward, pressing his chest against hers. She took in a sharp breath as she felt his warmth against her, loosening her grip even more. Maru took the opportunity to grab her wrists and wrest them from his. She cried out in terror before Maru quickly wrapped her arms around his back before her scrabbling could hurt either of them, although he lost his towel in the process. He let out a small pained grunt as she clutched him tightly, her nails digging painfully into his back and her face buried in his chest. “I deserved that, I guess,” he said as he gently rubbed her back, trying to soothe her any way he could.
“Do not let me go…” pleaded Bebedora, “Please, do not let me go…”
“I won’t,” said Maru warmly as he started to gently dry Bebedora’s hair. “Your hair is so pretty,” he said quietly as he draped the towel over Bebedora’s shoulders and kissed the top of her head.
“Maru…” whispered Bebedora. “I can hear your heart racing. I can feel the warmth of your body against mine. I can feel the water dripping from your hair onto the back of my neck.” She hugged him tightly before slowly releasing him. “It is strange,” she said, “I can sense you in so many ways, and while I still cannot see, just being near you calms me.” She slowly raised her head so that she was facing Maru directly before saying, “I wish to be one with you; like Foh was saying.” She gently kissed his cheek before slowly bringing her hands up, holding his head and kissing him on the lips.
Maru slowly closed his eyes as Bebedora’s lips softly met his. Her words had surprised him, and turned him on immensely, and it would be blatantly obvious to her pretty soon if he didn’t get some shorts on. But, she was pretty adamant about not letting him go as she shrugged the towel off and pulled him down to lay on top of her. She hugged him tightly, pulling his head in so that her mouth was right next to his ear. He could hear every tiny gasping breath of hers and it only turned him on even more. “Bebedora…” he moaned softly.
“Please…” hissed Bebedora. “I am not human. I am not even what most would call a living creature. However, I feel this urgent need…a desire to be with you in every way possible.” She paused, merely breathing into Maru’s ear, before asking, “Is that odd?”
“I-I-I-I d-d-don’t think s-s-s-so…” stammered Maru. He was so hard now that she had to have noticed. Was she just not saying anything about it? Or did she not know what it was? “I want you…as much as you want me…” he said, but when he tried to continue, his train of thought derailed as she gently licked his ear. “But I…” *lick* “…we need…” *lick* “…you can’t…” *lick* “Oh spirits, how I want you!” he finally managed to exclaim before he started nibbling on her neck, making her moan happily.
“Maru…” she hissed. “Please… Let me know how humans can feel…how a living creature can feel…so I can feel like more than just a pathetic construct…”
“Bebedora,” said Maru with a little anger in his voice as he raised his head and looked directly at her. “I don’t want to hear you saying anything like that again. You are a beautiful young girl who I care about very much.” He grabbed one of her hands and placed it on her chest. “Your skin is soft and warm,” he said, “You need to breathe and eat just like a normal person and you have a heartbeat. Nothing else matters…not to me, at least.” He smiled down at her until he heard her sniffling and saw tears running down her cheeks. “Oh no…” he said quickly, “I said something wrong again, didn’t I?”
“No!” cried Bebedora as she threw her arms around Maru and hugged him so tightly she almost cut of his air supply. She buried her face in his neck as she sobbed happily. “That is why I love you so much! You are so kind to me! But, I have to ask you something…”
“Yeah?” asked Maru.
“What is that thing poking me in the stomach?” asked Bebedora curiously.
“Well, um…” mumbled Maru, “That’s my…um…my…penis…”
“Oh…” said Bebedora, “What is a penis?”
Maru was completely floored by that question. “What, exactly, did Foh say to you about making love?” he asked.
“I did not really understand everything she said,” admitted Bebedora. “She was telling me about how a man inserts his rooster into the woman’s kitten…I do not have a kitten…I did not even think to bring one until now.”
Maru wasn’t sure what amused him more: Foh’s apparent dirty mouth or Bebedora’s horrific vocabulary. “Look, just forget about the cat…you don’t need one,” he said, trying to keep from laughing.
“But Foh said…” started Bebedora.
“She was using slang,” said Maru. He gently placed his hand on her stomach before slowly moving downward. He studied her face intently, searching for any reaction, but she continued staring blankly until he found what he was looking for. He felt her soft lower lips and gently rubbed them for a second, making her cry out.
“What did you just do?!” cried Bebedora. “It felt…nice…”
“That is the vagina, the female equivalent of the male’s penis,” said Maru, supremely surprised at the fact that he was able to keep his voice level while talking about genitalia. “In order to make love, I have to put my penis into your vagina.”
“But what about the…?” started Bebedora before Maru cut her off.
“Foh used different words for what I just said,” said Maru quickly as he blushed harshly. “It just means the same thing.”
“Are you okay?” asked Bebedora. “Your heart is beating really hard and you are panting a lot…”
Maru slowly closed his eyes before leaning forward and resting his forehead on Bebedora’s, whispering, “And it’s all because of you.” He kissed her again before rolling them both over so that she was on top. She squeaked a little in surprise but started to moan as Maru started to gently lick her breasts.
“W-what are you d-doing…?” gasped Bebedora.
“Getting you ready,” said Maru who was really happy that Foh had forced him to read those trashy romance novels that she liked so much. Every time his tongue gently lapped at one of her tiny nipples, she squeaked and jerked away, so he wrapped an arm around her and held her in place.
“M-Maru!” cried Bebedora as she felt all of her muscles tense up before feeling them suddenly release as she collapsed forward onto Maru. He hugged her trembling body gently before rolling them back onto her back. “What was that feeling?” gasped Bebedora.
“You just had an orgasm,” said Maru, “And I plan on giving you one or two more before we make love. Would you be okay with that?” Bebedora answered by wrapping her arms around Maru’s neck and kissing him. He smiled a little before slowly opening his mouth and running his tongue over Bebedora’s lips, causing her to jump. He smiled even more as he continued to run his tongue over her lips as he reached a hand down and started really stroking her lower lips. When she moaned he took his opportunity and moved his tongue inside her mouth. Bebedora was moaning continuously as Maru kept kissing and petting her until she couldn’t take any more and screamed into his mouth, her entire body shivering and spasming with her orgasm. He pushed himself off of her as she lay there, panting heavily. “Are you okay?” he asked.
“I am not sure…” panted Bebedora. “I am not able to really catch a breath… But, what I just felt was not unpleasant.” She smiled as she closed her eyes. “Far from it…” She heard Maru chuckle a little before feeling his weight pull away from her. “Wh-what is going on?!” she cried as she flailed her arms around, trying to find him. “Where are you?!”
“I’m right here,” said Maru as he knelt down between her legs and slowly spread them apart, “Calm down. I’m not going to leave you alone, for any reason.”
“Do not do that to me!” scolded Bebedora as she got up on her elbows. She tried to sit up, but Maru put a hand on her chest and pushed her back down. “What are you doing now?” she asked.
“Something that I’ve been told will make us both very happy,” replied Maru with a smile.
“Eh?” asked Bebedora. “What do you…!!!” Bebedora’s question was cut off as she felt something long and wet run over her lower lips. “M-Maru!!!” she cried as she reached her hands down and gripped his hair tightly. “What are you doing to me?!!!!!”
“What’s the matter?” asked Maru, “Don’t you like it?”
“No!” cried Bebedora, “I mean yes! I mean…Keep Doing That!!!”
Maru grinned as he went back to licking Bebedora’s pussy, happy that he enjoyed the taste. It had a very sweet, yet earthy taste to it. Following what little directions those stupid books had given him, he gently parted her soft lips and peeked inside of her. He found her little bud and started to softly lick all around it, not touching it. Bebedora was moaning constantly and letting out little unintelligible squeaks with each touch of his tongue. As he continued to lick around her clit, Maru slowly pushed a finger into Bebedora’s channel, gently probing around and stretching her for their eventual mating. He continued pushing his finger in until it hit a barrier inside of her and Bebedora let out a small yelp. “Sorry! Sorry!” said Maru quickly. “To be honest…I didn’t think you’d have one of those… I guess the divine ruler made you one hundred percent, didn’t he?”
“One of what?” panted Bebedora, “What are you talking about? Why did that hurt?”
Maru slowly climbed up Bebedora’s body and kissed her gently. “It’s a part of your body that proves that you’re still a virgin,” said Maru quietly. “It’ll hurt a little if we have sex, but you could back out if you don’t want to do this anymore.”
Bebedora curled into herself a little as she frowned before slowly reaching up and placing her hands on Maru’s face. She closed her eyes before gently smiling. “I can feel the concern emanating from you,” she said. “Go ahead, but please…be gentle…”
“Of course,” said Maru before swallowing nervously as he suddenly realized that he was right where he said he wasn’t ready to go an hour ago. It was all happening so fast, and he had helped it along. Was he right in taking her virginity like this? Was he right in losing his own to someone that his people despised? As he looked down at her flushed face that her silver hair was plastered to, her useless eyes staring up at him, yet still smiling warmly at him, he realized that what others thought didn’t matter at all. All that mattered was what they wanted. Hadn’t he always said that he wanted to be free? He slowly lowered his head until it gently rested against Bebedora’s forehead before whispering, “I love you, Bebedora, and it doesn’t matter who knows it. It’s true that if we had never met, I would probably have ended up marrying Foh, leaving us both feeling unhappy and unfulfilled, but we did meet, and we became friends so quickly, it’s like we were made for each other.” He closed his eyes and merely breathed in her scent for a few seconds before softly whispering, “Please tell me if you want me to stop.” He slowly reached down and positioned his penis at Bebedora’s entrance before gently pushing inside of her. Bebedora let out a small grunt before it was consumed by a quick gasp and a long moan. Maru made sure that she was okay before continuing to slowly push into her, only stopping when he reached her barrier. Bebedora’s eyes were barely lidded and her normally pale cheeks were now colored a deep red. Her mouth was wide open and she was panting heavily. “You’ve never looked so beautiful…” he whispered before kissing her and gently thrusting into her.
Bebedora didn’t scream when she felt the tearing inside of her. The pain was marginal compared to the wonderful feeling of Maru being inside of her. All that escaped the furious lip-lock that they had was a tiny whimper when she felt Maru try to pull out of her. She quickly wrapped her legs around his waist and held him tightly inside of her. “Do not leave me…” she finally gasped when they broke off their kiss to breathe. “Do not ever leave me… This feeling…I will not be able to live without it!”
Maru gritted his teeth as he felt Bebedora’s tight passage squeeze and flex around him, trying desperately to keep from cumming too quickly. He almost lost it when he felt her tighten even more around him and start gasping as she came again. “Wow,” he hissed, “I never thought you could cum just by me being in you like this…” He felt Bebedora’s grip on him loosening as her muscles started to relax and took the opportunity to slowly pull back his hips.
“No!” cried Bebedora as she tried to pull him back in, but she was too weak from her last orgasm and could only sob as she felt herself slowly empty. However, when she felt the biggest part of him reach her entrance, he suddenly pushed forward. She finally screamed loudly as she felt him move deeper into her than before, before pulling back and moving even deeper. “These feelings are so strange! But I love them! Please do not stop giving these feelings to me!”
Maru grinned as he bit his lip, trying to go as long as he could without cumming. “I’ll do my best on that,” he grunted as his hips kept moving back and forth, rocking his penis deeper and deeper into her until he was all the way inside of her. Then he held himself in place. It took all of his will power not to cum as soon as he felt Bebedora’s lips on his, and felt her tongue shove it’s way into his mouth. Maru kept himself in check until it was literally painful before letting out a growl and raising Bebedora’s legs over his shoulders. He started thrusting rapidly into her while groping and licking her breasts.
“Do not stop!” screamed Bebedora. “That is so good! I love this feeling!!!”
“Bebedora!!!” groaned Maru before arching his back and roaring loudly as he reached his peak and came inside of her.
Bebedora felt the first blast of cum flooding into her and took a quick breath before screaming so loudly that all of the birds on the island flew away in fear. She felt every last blast of cum pulse inside of her until all that was left were a few small spurts and then it stopped at the same time that she felt Maru’s body slump on top of her. “M-maru…” she gasped with a trembling voice as she held him tightly, moaning softly as she felt him slowly shrink and flop out of her. “W-was that…?”
“That was what Foh…was talking about…” panted Maru as he slowly reached out and grabbed Bebedora’s hat, which was now only a little damp after laying out in the sun. He gently placed it on her head, making her gasp.
“Such a deep red…” whispered Bebedora as she blushed at the amount of love that Maru was emanating. “Is all of that…really for me…?” she asked hesitantly.
“Of course it is,” said Maru as he slowly rolled off of her and held her. He kissed her softly before whispering, “Who else could it possibly be for other than the cute little doll who’s stolen my heart?”
“Maru…” moaned Bebedora. “I shall love you for as long as I live…” They curled up together and slowly fell asleep, content with what they had, and determined to see it through to the end.
“What is this all about, Prince Yumalnoh?!” demanded Savina.
“I’ve decided that I’m going to marry Bebedora,” said Maru calmly as he folded his arms and looked at her coolly. He had called a meeting with Savina, Rosanna and Foh and was standing in front of Bebedora, who was hiding behind him. She couldn’t take the blackness of the two older women’s auras when they looked at her.
“Absolutely not!” shouted Savina. “The people will never accept her as the queen of this kingdom!”
“Then I won’t become king!” snapped Maru, causing Savina and Rosanna to gasp and Foh to arch her eyebrows.
“Most impressive,” said Foh appreciatively.
“Foh!” snapped Rosanna, “Don’t encourage him!”
“Why not?” asked Foh, “This is exactly the type of love that everyone in the world is always looking for, and now that these two have found it, you plan on breaking them apart?”
“But…the kingdom…” stammered Savina.
“Is perfectly fine the way it is,” said Maru. “The people seem to think that if Foh and I marry, all of the troubles in the kingdom will go away, but that’s not true. If anything it will bring strife because neither Foh nor I will be happy with the union. Part of the reason that we have such a peaceful kingdom is because Foh and I are on such good terms and are able to talk through all of the major decisions. If we were forced into a relationship with each other that we didn’t want, we would end up resenting each other as well as the people of this kingdom.”
“That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but more or less correct,” said Foh with a smile. “I’m sorry mother, but I don’t wish to marry Maru. He and Bebedora are very happy together and I won’t come between them, even if it is for this kingdom.”
Savina looked like she was about to blow her stack when Bebedora timidly asked, “Could I make a suggestion?” Two pairs of hate-filled eyes snapped towards Bebedora, hitting her dead on, almost making her faint, but she stood her ground. “I think that Maru and Foh should get married.”
“What?!” cried Maru. “Bebedora, what are you talking about?!”
“It is something that I read about while traveling with Camellia,” said Bebedora. “Two people of very high standing marrying each other for the sake of their families, but only for show so that they were able to actually marry the people they loved.”
“So, you suggest that we hold a fake wedding for the kingdom and then the two of us will be free to do as we will?” asked Foh thoughtfully. “That is an interesting idea that will make everyone happy. But it won’t be easy for either of you.”
“No, it will not,” said Bebedora. “We will not be able to show our love for each other in public, and the people will expect an heir from you two.”
Maru frowned and thought about it for what felt like hours before his eyes snapped open and he shook his head. “I will not deceive the people of Milmarna,” he said with determination. “If even one of them found out, they wouldn’t be able to trust any of us ever again, and I won’t have that.”
“You really have grown up,” sighed Savina, “And you truly seem to love this…girl. I don’t like this, or her and I probably never will, but I will respect your decision.”
“Savina!” said Maru happily. “Thank you!”
“Don’t,” said Savina, “Just because I am willing to let you do this, doesn’t mean I’m going to help you get the rest of the kingdom to agree to it. You’ll have to do that yourselves.” She stared at Bebedora again for a second before turning and leaving, with Rosanna at her heels.
“Gratitude…” whispered Bebedora.
“What?” asked Maru.
“When she looked at me…there was a hint of…gratitude and the normal blackness was paled slightly because of it,” said Bebedora.
“Savina realized that you’ve helped Maru grow up,” said Foh, “The old Maru would have jumped at your suggestion, but he thought it through.” She smiled brightly before adding, “Very unlike him!”
“Ha ha ha!” said Maru making Foh giggle. He chuckled a little himself before looking seriously at the two girls and saying, “It’s just the three of us against the rest of the kingdom.” He quickly looked at Foh and asked, “You will help us…right?”
Foh smiled and said, “Of course! We’ll start bright and early tomorrow morning!” She hugged them both tightly before wishing them good night and leaving for her own room.
“I am very glad that you did not agree with my plan,” said Bebedora after Foh had been gone for a few minutes.
“Why is that?” asked Maru.
“Because even though I suggested the idea, whenever I thought of you marrying Foh, I suddenly thought of pushing her down a flight of stairs,” replied Bebedora. “It was rather odd because even though I like her very much, the thought…pleased me…”
Maru stared at Bebedora for a while before laughing out loud. “Well, well, well,” he said, “You were getting jealous!”
“Was that jealousy?” asked Bebedora. She pondered the feeling for a while before shaking her head. “That is not a good emotion. I do not want to be happy about thoughts of hurting my friends.”
“Come to bed, and stop worrying about it,” said Maru. “We’ve got a big task and we need to be rested.”
“But I am not very tired,” said Bebedora.
“Neither am I,” said Maru with a grin. “So why don’t we use up some energy?”
The End
(Another story done, and while I’m not really happy with the ending, everything leading up to the sex came out exactly like I wanted it too, so I’m not gonna complain all that much. Admittedly, Bebedora being blind was something that I threw in on impulse, but it really worked from a storyteller’s standpoint. However, if you all hated it…>8P Take care until next time!)
