“Kapu like?” asked Cure happily as she handed him some of her food, not noticing his wince as the raw, slimy meat hit his palm. “It yummy!”

“Well…it’s just…” stammered Kahu.

“It’s Ginui!” shouted Nico. “Normal people don’t eat Ginui!”

“Raw!” interjected Kahu. “I prefer it when my meat is cooked, that’s all.”

“Cuked?” asked Cure curiously. “What cuked? Is cuked type of food? Is it yummy?”

“Oh brother…” sighed Nico.

“Look…” said Kahu gently as he handed her back her meat, “Why don’t you catch another Ginui and I’ll cook it so you can see if you want to try it yourself next time we meet? Is that okay with you?”

“It okay…” said Cure even though she looked a little downhearted. “You go now?”

“I’m really sorry Cure,” said Kahu, “But if I don’t hurry up and find the Water Gem, I’ll die. I will see you again; you know I will. I like you Cure.”

“Okay!” said Cure happily, her previous melancholy completely gone. “Want Tomokana to take with you? Tomokana yummy!”

“Er…” said Kahu, not sure if he could stomach any raw divine beasts. “Thanks! I’ll eat it while I’m traveling!” He quickly got out of the Ogrevine before Cure asked him to eat any of it. The best he would get out of eating it would be a stomachache.

“You do realize that you just asked her out on a date…right?” asked Nico with her trademark wry grin.

“What?” asked Kahu, “No, I didn’t!”

“Let’s see here,” said Nico as she counted her points off on her fingers. “You planned to see each other again, you made plans to eat, bonus points for offering to make the meal by the way, and you said that you like her. Yep! It’s a date!”

“No, it’s not!” cried Kahu defensively.

The two were still bickering when they ran into Cinnamon. “What’s going on?” she asked off-handedly. “It’s not like you two to be at each others throats like that. That’s what the Sweet Knights are supposed to be doing.”

Kahu and Nico stared blankly at Cinnamon for a few seconds before Kahu started laughing. “Nice joke, Cinnamon!” he said.

“It wasn’t supposed to be…” muttered Cinnamon. “Now, what are you two arguing about?”

“Kahu’s got a date!” announced Nico before Kahu could stop her.

Cinnamon’s facial features flickered for a split-second before regaining their normal aloof appearance. It was there and gone before Kahu or Nico could even blink. “A date, huh?” she asked. “I’m guessing you met her here, so it must be Vanilla. She comes here to pick up her Slimy type beasts. And…other things…”

“Huh?” asked Nico. “What other things?”

“Don’t worry about it,” said Cinnamon.

“In any case, first of all, it’s not a date!” snapped Kahu.

“Isn’t it so cute how in denial he is?” simpered Nico.

“Secondly,” he added, glaring at Nico, “it has nothing to do with Vanilla. It’s someone you don’t know.”

“Who’s this girl you’re dating then?” asked Cinnamon.

“Gah!” cried Kahu as he teleported back to the temple, just to get away from the questions.

“Hmmm…” muttered Cinnamon, “Some girl that we don’t know? That’s odd. I thought we were the only female beast hunters out here right now. Maybe I should ask Cocona about this…”

Meanwhile, Cure was stalking some food. “Kapu cuk Ginui for Cure!” she said happily. “Kapu say cuked Ginui yummy! Kapu make Cure happy!” She stopped rambling to herself when a scent caught her attention. “Ginui!” she hissed as she started crawling along the ground before realizing something. “Human…and strange smell…” she said. Curious, she crept ahead, barely stopping when she heard someone giggling.

“Ooh! I like that! I like that!” giggled a female voice. “You’re my favorite slimy!”

Cure quietly slunk through the tall grass until she came upon a small clearing deep in the forest. She saw a Ginui and a human. The human looked a little like the parasitic bug that was always with Kapu, but was much bigger. Cure guessed it was a girl. Kapu had mentioned them before, but Cure had never seen one before. “What Ginui doing to girl?” she asked quietly as she watched them curiously. It looked like the Ginui was attacking the girl, but she seemed to be perfectly fine considering her laughter and encouraging words. It was definitely tasting her chest, but she seemed to like it. There was also something going on below that. It was sitting on the ground, holding her hips and she was bouncing up and down on it’s lap. “She riding it?” she asked, completely oblivious to how true her words were. There was definitely something going on down there, but she couldn’t tell what it was, so she quietly slunk around the clearing until she could get a better view. What she saw surprised her. There was a long, thick piece of flesh that was going in and out of a hole in the girl’s body. Cure canted her head to the side before looking down at herself. Kapu had referred to her as a girl before. She slowly reached down to where she figured the hole would be and was surprised to find a small wet spot on her outfit. “What going on?” she wondered before her head shot up as the girl screamed happily. The Ginui was still bouncing her up and down but it was moving her faster and faster until it bounced her down and held her there. The girl wrapped her arms tightly around the Ginui’s head as both of their hips twitched as if they’d just been hit by a Malti attack. The girl was panting heavily with a smile on her face as she slowly pulled herself off of the Ginui with a loud, liquid sucking sound before a stream of white slime started trickling out of her. She then surprised Cure even more when she reached down and gently stroked the long piece of flesh, giggling as more of the white slime came out of it, before opening her mouth and licking it.

The girl, Vanilla of the Sweet Knights, moaned happily as she sucked the remnants of their lovemaking from her Ginui. She loved the slimy texture of their skin and the way it felt when it moved inside of her. “You were wonderful as always!” she said perkily. The Ginui smiled and blushed a little before going back into Vanilla’s bracelet. “I can’t wait until he evolves!” she said before looking around, fixing her clothes and teleporting back to the temple.

Cure silently crept into the clearing and crawled toward the small puddle of white slime that had formed where the two had been. She sniffed it a little, unsure of how she felt about the odd smell, before tentatively poking at it. When she pulled her finger back and a long line of the goo stayed connected to her finger she quickly shook it off, but there was still some of it on her finger. She remembered that the girl had licked some of it off of the Ginui so she cautiously licked her finger. She sat there in the clearing for a few seconds before saying, “Yummy!” After licking the spot clean, she spent most of the rest of the day hunting Ginui to try and get more of the strange slime from them. Of course, since the wild Ginui weren’t aroused when she tackled them, their penises weren’t out of their sheaths and Cure was left extremely upset, leaving a trail of dead Ginui after her. After the fifth failure she gave up and dragged the carcasses back to her Ogrevine for when Kapu came to visit her again.

Back at the temple’s lounge area, Kapu…er…Kahu had finally gotten Nico to drop the teasing when Cocona came up to him and suddenly asked, “So, who’s this mysterious girlfriend you have?”

“She’s not a girlfriend!” roared Kahu. “She’s just a girl who’s a friend! Like you Sweet Knights and Nico!”

“Bite my head off, why don’t you?” asked Cocona sarcastically. “I was just curious, is all.”

“I’m sorry,” groaned Kahu, “But I just finally got Nico to stop teasing me about it…”

“Sorry,” said Cocona with a smile, “So, who is she anyway?”

Kahu hesitated. He still didn’t know Cocona all that well, even though he was sure he could trust her. But still, Cure wasn’t someone that he could tell just anyone about. “She’s just some girl I met in the Water Divine forest,” he said. “She says her name’s Cure and we hang out a little whenever we meet. That’s all!”

Cocona stared at Kahu for a short while before smiling again. “Okay,” she said, “if you don’t want to tell me everything that’s fine. But, you should introduce her to us. After all, if she’s your friend, she should get to know us too, right?”

“Thanks Cocona,” said Kahu gratefully. Cocona winked at him before walking on the teleporter, just missing Cinnamon as she teleported into the lounge. Her eyes lighted on Kahu for a fraction of a second before she proceeded to ignore him completely. Kahu watched her as she walked over to the message board and seemed to find a job she liked before walking back to the teleporter. “Uh…Cinnamon?” asked Kahu quietly as she passed him.

“Yes?” she asked, stopping so that her back was to him.

“I was going to ask you before,” said Kahu, “Why didn’t you fight me when we met in the Earth Forest?”

Cinnamon was silent for a few seconds before answering. “Don’t think, for even a second, that I did it for you,” she said robotically. “You weren’t a worthy opponent when we met.”

“But I took down…” started Kahu before Cinnamon interrupted him.

“Vanilla relies on her Slimy-type beasts too much and doesn’t even try to give her attacks any variety, and Choco doesn’t believe in the idea of defense,” said Cinnamon as she slowly turned her head to look back at Kahu. “Improve your battle strategy, because the next time we meet in the Earth Forest I won’t go easy on you.”

“Um…okay…” said Kahu meekly as he looked down at the floor. “Good luck with your job…” Cinnamon’s eyes narrowed slightly and she sighed before walking into the teleporter and vanishing.

“You should have said something a little more assertive or confident to her,” scolded Nico. “You just let her walk right over you! And you call yourself a man!”

“Knock it off!” said Kahu, “I didn’t want to make her any angrier than she already was.”

“She was angry?” asked Nico. “How could you tell?”

“She normally wouldn’t have said things like that,” said Kahu. “Anyway, let’s get going.”

“Where are we off to?” asked Nico. “You’ve got the Wind and Fire Gems and you’re almost at the Earth Gem.”

“I suppose we should try to get a little closer to the Water Gem,” said Kahu, “At least until Cinnamon calms down a little.”

“Oh goody!” said Nico, “I think I’ll let you go on your own this time.”

“What?” asked Kahu, “Why?”

“So that you and Cure can be alone for your date!” cackled Nico as she flew away.

“It’s not a date!” shouted Kahu. His shout was so loud that even Levant, on the top floor of the temple, looked around in confusion.

“What’s not a date?” asked Levant when Kahu teleported up to the throne room. When Kahu only answered with a smoldering glare, Levant laughed merrily. “What’s with that scary look? I was just asking since you seemed so intent on letting everyone in the temple know about it.”

Kahu groaned and sank to his knees. “There’s this girl I met in the Water Forest,” he said, “and I said that the next time we met that if she brought the food then I’d cook it for her. That’s all there is to it!”

“I see…” said Levant with a smile. “I must admit, some would construe that as being a date. However, what others believe doesn’t matter. How do you and the girl feel for each other? That is what will determine if it’s a date or not.”

“How we feel about each other?” asked Kahu.

“Yes,” said Levant, “The thing you have to remember is that you can only know how you feel, until you ask the other person.”

“But we’re not doing anything special!” protested Kahu.

“Even the most mundane of things could become a date if the two people truly care for each other,” said Levant.

“How about you?” asked Kahu. “What would you do when you were on a date?”

Levant smiled again, a little wistfully. “I would take my girlfriend up to the top of the watchtower and we would sit and look up at the stars while I practiced my flute playing,” he said quietly.

“Are you okay?” asked Kahu.

“I’m fine,” said Levant. “Run along and good luck finding the gems. You still have a long way to go my young friend.” Kahu smiled and bowed to Levant before heading into the Water Forest. Levant watched Kahu vanish before softly sighing and leaning back in his chair. He looked up at the ceiling of the temple before whispering, “The forest asks for sacrifices from us all…isn’t that right, Mahbu?”

Kahu wasn’t running as fast as he normally did when traveling through the forest. He was trying to think about how he felt about Cure. “Levant said I should know how I feel…but I don’t know!” he groaned. “W-what if she likes me! I mean…Like likes me! Gah! Now they’ve all got me thinking like this! What’s the matter with just being friends?!” He scratched his head and looked up just in time to see a divine beast racing up to battle. “I guess that’s my fault for shouting…huh?” Fortunately, he’d been training his beasts a lot and managed to win the battle rather easily, winning a Drackich egg in the process. “A water Drac! Neat!” he said as the rare beast egg made him forget all about his problems. “I should hatch this and put it in my line up soon!”

“Kapu happy?” asked a voice directly in his ear, making him scream and turn around quickly. Cure was staring at him blankly before she started giggling. “You funny Kapu!” she said happily before mimicking his terrified pose. “This fun!”

“Cure…don’t sneak up on me like that…” panted Kahu as he held his chest to make sure his heart wouldn’t beat it’s way out.

“Kapu upset with Cure?” asked Cure sadly, hanging her head.

“No!” cried Kahu. “It’s just…”

“Okay!” said Cure happily. She grabbed Kapu’s hand and dragged him behind her.

“She’s as innocent and carefree as a child,” thought Kahu as Cure looked back at him and smiled brightly. The two went into the Ogrevine that she was currently living in and Kahu gaped at the five Ginui corpses. “I think one should have been enough,” he said.

“I sorry,” said Cure, looking kind of embarrassed. “I try get yummy stuff from them, but they attack me, so I kill them.”

“Yummy stuff?” asked Kahu.

“From Yummy Stick!” said Cure.

Kahu sighed, “Never mind. It’s fine. I’ll see what I can do to get a fire started. Can you collect some dry wood?”

“Okay!” said Cure as she scampered out of the Ogrevine. She returned about ten minutes later with a pile of sticks and twigs. She dropped them at Kahu’s feet while staring at what he was doing. He had found a long stick and was in the process of skewering one of the Ginui corpses. “What you do?” she asked.

“Just preparing this guy for cooking,” said Kahu. He put the Ginui down and grabbed up the firewood, placing it next to the fire pit he’d dug. He tore some pages out of one of the books he’d picked up in the forest and set a match to them.

Cure was fascinated by the Agni attack that Kapu cast. It was still there even after the spell was done. “Kapu amazing!” whispered Cure as she scooted in closer to the attack, trying to figure out how Kapu managed to get the attack to stay this long.

“Cure! Stay back!” warned Kahu. “That fire’ll burn you if you touch it.”

“But…it your attack!” said Cure. “Why you attack me?”

“It’s not an attack,” said Kahu, “Fire is something that can be contained but never truly controlled. But, it’s the only way to cook food properly. Now, hand me the skewer.”

“Skewer?” asked Cure. “What that?”

“The Ginui on the stick,” said Kahu. He smiled as Cure brought him the food. He carefully placed it over the fire, rotating it the way his father would always do when he was cooking outside.

Cure watched in pure fascination as the Ginui slowly changed color and started to smell even yummier than normal. She reached out to try to take some, but Kapu kept stopping her. “But…hungry!” she whined. “Smells yummy!”

“I know, but calm down,” said Kahu with a smile as he watched her start to drool. “It’ll be ready soon. And then it has to cool down, you don’t want to burn your mouth, do you?”

Cure scratched her head. “Yes!” she said happily before seeing the expression on Kapu’s face. “No?” she asked.

Kahu hung his head and sighed. “I see we should keep working on your vocabulary,” he said. The two chatted and laughed together while the Ginui finished cooking. “Alright! It’s done!” Kahu said triumphantly as he pulled the Ginui from the fire and placed it on a rock to cool. “Remember,” he said to Cure, “don’t try to eat it until I say so, okay?”

“Okay,” said Cure. “What we do now?”

“Well, I’ve got to go to the bathroom,” said Kahu as he walked toward the exit. “I’ll be right back!”

“Bathroom?” asked Cure as Kapu disappeared. “Kapu go away? But…we not eat yet! Cure hungry! Kapu!” She quickly chased after him and saw him standing in front of a tree. She could tell that he was marking his territory so she decided to join him and do the same.

Kahu closed his eyes and let out a small sigh of relief as he finished. He was just about to put himself back together when he felt something touch his penis. “Whaaa?!” he cried as he jumped back. Looking down he saw Cure, crouching on the ground and staring at him curiously. “Wha-wha-what are you doing?!” he cried after he’d noticed that she’d pulled the crotch of her outfit to the side and had one of her legs raised.

“Kapu have weird thingie!” said Cure as she calmly marked the tree as hers as well as Kapu’s. She tapped it again, giggling when it twitched, but gasping when it started to slowly grow. “Yummy stick!!!” she said excitedly.

“Okay,” said Cure, sounding confused. “Kapu mad at Cure?”

“No,” said Kahu. “I’m not mad…I just…” He sighed heavily. “Let’s talk about this later…” The two went back inside and started eating the roasted Ginui. They didn’t talk and Kahu felt a little nervous about what they would talk about when the food was done, but when he looked up at Cure she seemed perfectly oblivious to anything other than her food. “Maybe she’s forgotten about it…” he thought hopefully. He smiled as he watched her eating, and Levant’s words echoed through his head. “How we feel about each other…” he thought. He closed his eyes and sighed before slowly asking, “Hey Cure…how do you…Gah!!!” He cried out in shock and dropped his food when he saw that Cure had stripped out of her outfit and was staring intently at him, her blue scales shining brightly in the soft glow of the Ogrevine.

“What wrong?” asked Cure. “Kapu said not out there, so Cure show Kapu Cure in here!”

“W-w-w-w-w…!” stammered Kahu. She’d said it so innocently and now here she was, as naked as the day she was born, staring curiously at him.

“Cure see Kapu now?” asked Cure.

“I…I want…” sighed Kahu before he hung his head.

“Kapu sad?” asked Cure. “Cure make Kapu sad?” She slowly got onto her hands and knees and crawled over to him, peering up at his face. “Kapu?” she asked quietly.

“Cure?” whispered Kahu, “How do you feel about me?”

“Cure like Kapu very much!” said Cure happily. “Kapu Cure’s friend!”

“Is that all?” asked Kahu.

“All what?” asked Cure curiously.

Kahu hesitated before falling to his knees, gently holding Cure’s head and softly kissing her. “That’s how I feel about you,” said Kahu as he stared into her bright yellow eyes.

“Cure like that,” said Cure as she licked her lips. “Kapu do again?”

“Cure…” mumbled Kahu, “It’s not something you do unless…”

He would have continued but Cure put a finger to his lips. “Cure not want do that with anyone but Kapu,” she said, “Kapu special to Cure…” She smiled as she leaned in and pressed her lips to his before purring like a kitten as she nuzzled into him. “Now let Cure see Kapu!”

Kahu sighed a little before giving in. “Okay, okay,” he said. “But no touching.” He blushed a little as he slowly disrobed. He hesitated before dropping his underwear, but merely looked away as Cure stared at his penis in fascination.
