The Prodigal Knight

Chapter One: Aftermath

The engine of the Garnet hummed silently, as she drifted through space. Carth switched the engine's gears and leaned back in his seat. His mind wandered to Revan...he wondered where she could be right now..what could she be doing out there that was more important than being with him? He rubbed his hands over his face and sat forward towards the control panel. No, that was selfish of him, what ever she was doing must have been important. Although he hadn't seen or spoken to her in nearly five years, he had never stopped thinking about her. He had never even gotten the chance to touch her..to hold her...to make love to her...to kiss her..nothing. This thought infuriated him slightly, and he switched the ship to auto-pilot. He stood up and stretched his arms and legs. Mission and Canderous were chatting about one of his war stories. HK-47 and T3-M4 were arguing about the ethics of being an assassin droid. This made sense seeing as neither of them had a memory wipe in quite some time and when droids don't get their memories wiped on a timely basis they began to react to things in a more humanoid matter.

"Irritated Response: No, tin can, I do not see anything wrong with doing the job that I was programmed to do. A job that was programmed into me by YOUR master," HK seemed a bit frustrated, Carth sat down in the main hold, and laughed to himself.

"Beep boop-deet doot bzzz," T3 hummed in a quick response method.

"Defensive Aggressive Response: I do NOT need an alteration of protocols. You utility droids just don't understand the importance and demanding need for assassins. However, I have decided that I would not wish to converse with you any further. Go clean a food trap," HK turned and walked back into the ship's cargo hold.

T3 turned and rolled back into his little space where he rested his gears and did alterations to the ship.

Mission looked over in Carth's direction. She sighed in a low whispering way. He wasn't paying any attention to her anyhow...his mind was elsewhere. He stood and walked back to the quarters which he and Canderous shared.

"Man! What is his problem? He hardly speaks anymore. He's always off somewhere in his own world. Use to be you couldn't shut him up!" Mission stated, clearly annoyed by Carth's low key attitude as of late.

"Well...I'm no love expert kid, but it seems to me that he misses Revan. You will understand that one day I guess. Although I never did either. That kind of affection for someone disgusts me. So weak...so...bah! I don't even want to think about it." Canderous took a swig of his Juma Juice, and shuddered.

"Why not? You...don't have like...a wife or a girlfriend back home?" Mission seemed really interested, "Unless...you're gay." Canderous' mouth dropped open. Mission was quick to finish, "Which is no problem with me! I mean if you like that that's your choice."

"Gay??? You can't be serious right? I am not gay. We Mandalorians just don't associate much with women...or men...in that way...for that matter." Canderous seemed angry.

"Canderous..it was a joke. Man loosen up."

"I am loose. And shouldn't you be getting to sleep? I ain't here to baby-sit all night long." Canderous smirked. If there was one thing that bothered Mission the most it was being called a kid.

"EXCUSE ME???? BABY-SIT??? OH! You...you...you..."

"Me what?"

"Nothing...you know what??? I am going to bed. I'd rather sleep than sit here and argue with an old man anyways. Goodnight geezer, hope you don't die in your sleep.Jerk," Mission stood and walked back to her chambers.

Canderous cackled quietly. That kid had spunk. She was the only one that he could even converse with other than the Assassination bucket. He thought about Revan for a second. He would never admit it...but he kind of missed her too. Not that he liked her or anything but it was a little easier talking to her than a 20 year old twi'lek and a depressed ex-Republic fighter pilot. He kind of wished that Jolee and Juhani were here..but they had accompanied Revan on her mission back to Malachor V. He thought about trying to contact them on the Hawk but they probably wouldn't respond. He knew this because Republic tried to contact her every day for the first three years but she never respond. He knew she was alive because Bastila could feel her through the Force or so she said.

'Man...if Bastila wasn't a Jedi..Man..I'd...tell her about what I feel for her,' Canderous began to think about it but then quickly pushed it from his mind. There was weakness in such feelings and even if there weren't he ain't gonna end up like Carth, depressed and angry all of the time.

Canderous leaned back in his chair..

"Revan..you need to come back. Republic needs you. We need you."
