Breath of Wind, Heart of Fire

Author's Notes:

Okay, this is my first venture into World of Warcraft fiction so...yeah. I cannot claim full responsibility for this work, though it is not beta'ed, I did have help writing and editing a few things from a fellow WoWer who will be seen later on in this story.

I would greatly appreciate reviews about what is liked and what is disliked--yeah, I even love flames so long as they are constructive and detailed to tell me what exactly isn't working out. And if you do like what I'm doing, please let me know too. It helps keep me inspired.

I do have to give adequate warning, I have no clue where this fic is going to go or end because guess what, it's based on ROLE PLAY!! YES! There is such a thing alive in WoW still!! And currently it's an on-going RP at that. ~grin~ Suck that up you PvP addicts!

Ahem. Anyhow, pay attention to warnings and whatnot. Currently there's nothing too steamy going on (you perverted souls you!) so you'll have to be patient. However, I hope you enjoy the tale as it works up to whatever might happen.

There is going to be extreme, detailed violence and gore as well as concepts that some (die-hard WoWers and others) might not agree with. Keep in mind this is fiction and loosely based on the game lore as gradually absorbed by someone that's never picked up a book prior to getting hands on the online game.

Summary / Plot-Basis:

A young Kal'dorei (Night Elf) druid has ventured away from home and familiar shores in search of adventure. Given how few unclaimed and suitable males are to be found in the Home-Tree, like many other able females in the matriarchal society, she has also taken the opportunity to use that excuse in order to seek out a worthy mate. Tales brought back by adventurers and travelers as well as the lore held in books guarded within Darnassus have given her ideas about the strange world outside the shores of Teldrassil.

Curiosity drives her to learn more about the frail-seeming child-race of Humans with their nearly colorless skin and strange ringed eyes that do not glow; about the mysterious earth-bound race of squat, smoky dwarves with their rough voices and hairy appearances; about the bouncy and energetic gnomes that stand no higher than the knee and their smoke-belching, rattling contraptions; and about the race of creatures from another world that appear the same as the accursed demons seeking to bring ruin and destruction to Azeroth.

However, the world Outside the one she knows is filled with concepts vastly differing from those she was raised to uphold. That men lead while women follow is one such concept as alien to her as the Draenei with their demon's look and their powers of Light. Even the most open-minded of beings has difficulty adapting to such challenges. This is only further compounded by her tentative grasp upon the Common tongue, for very few non-elves can understand let alone speak Darnassian.

When her travels at last bring her into the company of a motley crew, it seems that the complications she once believed to be attaining a fair grasp on only multiply...

And now, I invite you to continue on, dear reader...and plunge into the World of Azeroth as viewed through My Eyes... Enjoy.
