Metamorphosis
Prologue:
The ringing clash of steel against steel sang threw out the battle field; along with the screams of blood curling agony as souls of mighty warriors fell. It was like a twisted symphony that blended together in a bitterly morbid melody. Not to far from the raging field of blood and flesh was a village where the general and captains where currently having a meeting.
“We will attack from the north, flushing them out into the field by the Huan River; from there you can attack from the front as we attack from the back.” Said one man with a long snow white beard.
“Are you sure it is wise to go threw with that plan? The enemy could use the field to their advantage; the grass there is rather tall.” Said another man with a light brown beard and a stern frown set permanently on his face.
“It’s the best way we can go about this , unless you have some other alternative then please do share” Snapped a much younger man , he had shining silver hair that was currently tied back with a piece of stringed leather. He was the youngest among the other men, and he also was at a higher rank then they were.
The man with the light brown beard scowled at the young general “It would be suicidal if we are to proceed with such a plan! I won’t lead my men to their death!” He roared his face flushing into an unattractive shade of burgundy.
“The loss of men in battle cannot be avoided, but if you follow my orders accordingly then you will find that the number of men lost will be less.” Answered the general calmly.
“I still fail to see why I should follow the orders of a child” muttered the brown bearded man. The one with white hair placed a hand on his comrades’ shoulder.
“Trust General Riku, he was appointed by the emperor himself and for good reason” he said in a calming voice.
The man scoffed shooting Riku a dirty look before he stood on his feet and stomped out of the tent. Riku sighed and rubbed his temples, “Very well...You lead your man as we have just discussed and I will be waiting for the enemy with troops at the Huan River, May the gods be with you all” he said, with a nod from each captains the general stood with his helmet tucked firmly under his arm and left the tent.
Riku was the youngest general in all of Japan; at the tender age of 12 he was recruited into the military and trained. He proved to be a sort of prodigy as he soared threw the training given to him, his skills were exceptional and as the years passed he grew not only in strength and size but rank and importance. He was often underestimated by the older Captains and Generals, but the emperor seemed to have a great deal of trust in him. Now at only 18 years of age he was the head General of the entire military, and not every one was pleased with that.
Riku approached his mighty and faithful stallion; it was a beautiful ebony horse with burning eyes that held fierce strength. “Well my friend...off to another battle” Riku said patting its head. He straddled the horse swiftly and rode over to where his fleet of men where waiting. With cold calculating eyes Riku scanned them before speaking.
“I need not go into a speech ...you all know what may happen. I have faith in you...all of you... that you will make it back safely. May the blessing of the gods be on you as you fight...and may you come back with all your limbs so that you may always serve your emperor!” he roared passionately. The other soldiers let out a mighty call of vibrant power, raising their weapons to Riku. With a smirk Riku galloped off to field by the Huan River unknowing of the surprise he would get.
Deep in the mists of the forest a circle of tall and majestic trees stood. In the center stood a single tree that was bigger and more beautiful then all of the others. It was a brilliant and shining white with celestial silver leaves that gleamed in the warm sunlight. At the base of the tree stood a door that was just as mysteriously beautiful as the rest of the tree.
The lovely door opened as a boy with a mass of sugar brown locks and eyes brighter then the rarest sapphire gems came out. He quirked a grin as he closed the door quietly letting out a relived sigh. Sora had finally gotten away from his caretaker and his father. He began to walk down the path of trees into the middle of the forest. He was dressed in a simple loin cloth that clung to him sexily with a tooth necklace around his neck. The brunet also had colored bands wrapped around his arms in various colors with bracelets and anklets that jingled merrily with his every step. On his back was a pair of opal colored wings shaped like that of a butterfly but with the tips pointed and curved sharply. They were transparent with light glittering blue and purple streaks shaped in swirls. Sora was a fairy...and not an ordinary one.
Sora was the future king of the Fairies, ruler of the light and elements of earth and all her grace. Truth be told Sora didn’t want to be that. He wanted to be like other fairy boys who could play games and live carefree lives and not worry about being betrothed to a young girl who you didn’t even know.
That was the current predicament that he was in now. His father wanted him to marry some girl from another fairy clan. With a sigh Sora kicked a stone continuing his walk threw the forest. He knew he was going to get hell for leaving , but it was so dull and all his father was doing was talking about this and that.
“Why me” Sora grumbled as he walked threw the shrubs coming to a river. He smiled at the water sprites as they let out surprised gasps. Soon the blue haired vixens came around him fawning over him shamelessly. They were very beautiful with liquid watery blue hair, their bodies were finely sculpted and shapely, and their eyes were large and black , gleaming with unnatural beauty. Sora laughed as he played around with them, this was far better then sitting in a room and talking about his would be future wife.
Riku groaned as he staggered toward the thick brush where a large weeping willow tree stood. He moved the hanging branches with his free hand while the other clutched at his side. Riku was wounded and bleeding heavily, his troops lay dead in the field along with his other comrades. They had been ambushed and completely taken by surprise. Riku had managed to hold his own easily enough but his men did not fair so well. He had been sliced by a sword in his side and it left a large gash that made it hard for him to breathe and focus.
With a grunt he sat at the base of the tree moving his hand away to examine his wound. Riku let out a groan as he removed all his armor and padding, the blood had easily soaked threw his thin shirt. He moved his shirt up, wincing ever so slightly as it pulled away from skin after being glued to it by his own blood. Riku knew that unless he saw a doctor soon he wouldn’t last the night, the wound was very severe and breathing was getting harder and harder with each passing moment.
“Damn this all to hell” Riku grumbled, he coughed a bit and tasted a familiar coppery taste in his mouth. “Shit!”
Riku laid his head back and went lax “What a dishonorable way to die...”
Sora laughed as he waved goodbye to the water sprites. He turned and continued his walk down the river, pausing here and there to smell a flower or toss a stone. His head snapped up however when the scent of burning wood and blood reached his nose. Sora moved into the thick brush so he could get a better look at the field with out taking the risk of being seen. It was the ultimate rule: Never allow your self to be seen by a human, if you are seen then destroy the human(s).
Sora saw a large weeping willow and entered its leaves, he moved to the edge where the leaves meet with a large bush. Parting the leaves Sora looked out onto the field and stifled a gasp. There were thousands upon thousands of bodies strewn every where and blood was thick in the air so much you could almost taste it. The young prince backed away from the ghastly sight but he tripped on something and fell back on his butt.
“Oww” Sora mumbled as he rubbed his butt, he looked around for what caused him to trip. When he was what it was he felt his breath hitch in his throat. Who ever it was let out a muffled groan and slowly blinked his eyes open. He had the most beautiful eyes Sora had ever seen in his life , a beautiful aquamarine framed by thick lashes. The prince had never seen anybody with eye like that before; with his curiosity getting the better of Sora approached them.
Riku looked over at the boy that was approaching him with large sea blue eyes. The generals’ hand twitched feeling around for his sword but he couldn’t bring his hand to move. He was feeling lightheaded from the blood loss, he startled however when he felt the boy move his silver locks from his eye and press a cool hand to his forehead.
“Are you ok?” he asked Riku softly.
“Who are you?” Riku rasped back, he coughed again and felt more blood come into his mouth.
“My name is Sora...you don’t look so good...are...are you a human?” Sora asked tensely. Riku managed to smirk.
“Of course...a dieing human but a human none the less...what are you? An angel?” he said. Riku opened his eye more and looked Sora over his eyes hovering on the wings prodding from the others back.
Sora however was backing away from Riku; if Riku was human he needed to kill him. “I...I’m a fairy...and...if you a human...then...then I have to kill you.” He said trying to sound intimidating but failing miserably.
Riku looked up at Sora allowing his cocky smirk to stay in place “Oh are you now? Well then go ahead...it’s not like I have anything left to live for “Riku said closing his eyes once more. Finnally from both blood loss and sheer tiredness riku fainted.
Sora began to summon the magic to kill Riku but...something was stopping him. He looked at Riku once more before he began to cast a healing spell instead. “Cui tu ni ano...su shito noita kasui. Ne...anilia ...uh...” (Translation: Essance of the earth and wispers of the sky I beg of you to ...) Sora stopped casting for a second and thought. /whats the last word again...grr...now I wish I payed attention when dad was teaching me...umm...oi...no...yoi...grr...“suio...nouta ca...me!” (Translation: heal him like ...me) Sora finished
Blue and green light surrounded Riku healing his wounds and cleaning him up . Sora smiled happily that he got the spell right but his smile soon faded. Riku began to grow large wings like Sora’s but they were black with red and silver glittering streaks going threw them. His ears pointed and his clothing changed to a long black loin cloth with tears at the tips.
Sora stared at Riku with utter shock “oh no...What ...did...I...” the prince felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He had used too much magic...with a sigh he fell backward in a dead faint.
