Recruiting number IX

The ninth member of our organization had just joined. Demyx. The melodious nocturne. He was a bit strange to say the least. But then after Axel, he looked tame. He was also the opposite to Axel. Where Axel was the scheming, conniving, more-intelligent-than-he-looked fire wielder, Number IX was slow, chirpy, as-ditsy-as–he-looked water manipulator.

Superior had called a meeting, Number nine obviously the centre of attention, for it was his first time meeting the eight others like himself. Nobodies were what we were. Nothing other, no more, no less in terms of existence.

But number nine seemed to not quite comprehend this. He sort of took it a little to casually, not believing us. As he stared up at us, in that large, brilliantly white room, all clad in the same, black hooded uniform, he seemed to think he’d been drawn into a lunatic cult. If only.

I was one to obey orders, had been in my previous life, and my loyalty didn’t waver here. However, I had some strong contention. I was the first outside of the original six. The very first. Number VII.

Demyx had walked away from that meeting, murmurs of laughter leaving his lips. Superior had told him, when he was ready to call another meeting. For Superior knew that it would sink into our newest recruit soon. Disbelief was understandable.

After all, it would need explaining, why he could no longer have emotions. Why he knew he should be happy, but the elation didn’t seep through him. Why when something hurt, he couldn’t cry, because he couldn’t be sad. It would hit him soon enough. And we all knew he might take a little while to get used to it.

It was now a few hours after the first meeting had been called, and each of us were back in our respective seats, in the round room. Once more looking down on number nine, who stood unphased in the middle of the circular room.

“Right.” He said enthusiastically. “I think I’m there now.” His voice carried well through the room, and he commanded the attention we all gave him – I’d often heard people talk about stage presence, but this kid had it.

Superior leaned forward, dark skin broken by a smile, as his hood fell away from his face. I couldn’t help but watch our superior from the corner of my eye as Demyx carried on, judging Xemnas’ reaction to the kid.

“I did what you said.” He waved a finger at Xemnas, his eyes focusing on the superior briefly, before his pose faded away and he carried on with his speech, elaborate arm gestures for everything. “I sat down, in that room – which is pretty nice – could do with a personal touch though – and I thought to myself.” I scoffed at the idea, this imbecile had enough brain power to do that? And not speak to himself aloud.

“Well okay – I didn’t do it in my head, everything sounds so much clearer out loud.” Demyx spoke moree tto himself aloud at that moment than to us. But, Oh, how predictable he was. Demyx continued, waving his hands about as he spoke – he was quite outlandish it seemed. “But that’s not my point. I know now what you guys are.” Some how he was still missing that vital point that he was one of us. But I felt a small spectacle of relief, perhaps he wasn’t so dull witted after all. I looked at the faces around me. The original six – save for Superior looked perfectly calm, statue like. Superior looked eager, his eyes never straying from the young nobody. Anticipating his conclusion seemingly. Axel looked impassive. As always.

“I sat. And I thought, over and over, and it makes sense!” He sounded genuinely surprised that it was logical. I still didn’t hold high hopes for this one. Axel, he was different, he just made sure we all knew who he was. He didn’t care as long as we paid attention to him, he wanted his presence felt. As far as I know, and as far as I am told, I just accepted it, mulling along with it. The others were simultaneous and before my time.

“You’re Vampires!” He announced, placing his hands on his hips and beaming as he looked round at us. Obviously proud of his conclusionary skills.

My groan of disappointment was echoed by Zexion and the superior. Axel seemed to find it funny. Vexen looked at me mirroring my disbelief. Lexeaus and Xaldin perfect statues as always. Xibgar joined in Axel’s laughter. A vague chortling of
“As if.” muttered from his lips through the laughter.

“Awww C’mon!” He battled against our disbelief. Hands rasisng in a predatory way as he drew back his lips to show his canines, before continuing “The long black cloaks, nine – including myself - good looking guys, the whole scary organization in a grand castle thing? It made it a little obvious actually. Especially the way none of you seem to waiver from your paths… So do we have to drink human blood?” I shook my head, how could one person honestly be lacking in intelligence to that degree.
He would certainly make days here a little more – interesting.

You all know Demyx would totally do something like that XD
