“Shocking Introduction”

Scene: Stables

A dark shadow traveled across the makeshift stables area, moving carefully and oh-so-ever quietly towards a snow white, noble being with wings. Or more popularly known as a…

“Pegasus…”

A cute, young mage made her way to the Pegasus, taking her time with quiet and simple steps, so as not to startle the horse and panic it. Her hair and clothes bounced with each step, as did all the possibilities she could do with a Pegasus in her naughty, mischievous head. The horse neighed as Lute approached, but whether it was a response in fear or wonder, is still a mystery.

But one thing was for certain; when the mage stretched out her right arm to pet the Pegasus, a hand, from seemingly nowhere, appeared and placed its grasp right on her left shoulder, shocking her, rather literally.

BOOM! A magnificent ray of thunder roared through the air, and luckily, not through any people or animals.

“Ack!”

Another woman, green haired and just as young, sat on her rump, holding her hand. She wore light armor, covering her upper body, as well as a short skirt, which allowed one, mainly Lute, to see under its hem, from her viewpoint.

“Ow…”

Lute rose upon seeing the other woman, who appeared to be in shock, but not in much pain. Although she hd been surprised, the green-haired girl called to her in a gentle voice and not one filled with rage. It was her fault, but it wasn't like she would admit that.

“That was quite a spell, wasn’t it? It sure did surprise me…”

“Um…a-are you all right? Heh…heh…”

“I believe so, but I’m still shaking from that spell. I felt some of that shock go through my hand. It was a short time, but it still hurt a lot. You’re strong with magic, aren’t you?”

“Hah! Of course! I am a prodigy of magic after all!”

“Is that so? Well, now that I’ve caught my breath, tell me, what were you going to do with my Pegasus, eh? Were you going to shock her too?”

“W-what?! O-of course not! I was merely…going to pet her, that’s all! Besides, you deserve that for sneaking up on me!”

“Hmph. If you say so. But perhaps it was better that I caught you first, as you see, Titania over there doesn’t let just anyone approach her. Only those she finds worthy and good-hearted.”

“What nerve! Are you saying that I, Lute, magical prodigy extraordinaire, is not worthy, not pure hearted enough for a Pegasus?! How absurd! Hmph, I’ll show you…”

“Hey, where are you going?”

Vanessa attempted to stand and chase after her, but her efforts ended in vain. Her legs failed her in her time in need, and even if she had full use of her legs, she doubted she would catch up with the pace that the young mage was making. If one listened closely, one could probably hear her curses all the way from hundreds of paces away.

Moments later, when she could stand by herself and Lute had completely vanished, Vanessa made her way to Titania, who, if she could, would have most likely been laughing. Instead, she only stared at her master, who was petting her soft hair gently with her uninjured hand.

“She talks quite largely of herself, don’t you think, Titania?”

A soft neigh was given in response to her soft voice.

“And she's so loud. But she's so strong magic. Look at this hand of mine, Titania!”

She raised the hand to her Pegasus’ face, bringing it right in front of her face. Titania slobbered all over it with an affectionate nuzzle and a lick.

“Ew, Titania. Sheesh! But you know, Syrene probably wouldn’t have been phased at all by such a blast. If only I as strong as her…”

A loud neigh and vigorous shake assured Vanessa of a sure sign of a disagreement between master and subordinate. Vanessa laughed, amused.

“Ha…hush, Titania. Well, I wonder if we’ll be seeing more of that loud girl in the future. I hope we don’t run into her in battle anytime soon, hm? I’d hate to get hit with a direct hit from her.”
