Lament
Eroth flopped into the grass under a shady tree in Ashenvale Forest. Marri sat between his legs and leaned back against him.
“It be ‘ot as lava today.” Marri said.
“I’m sure having fur isn’t really helping.” Eroth said.
“No. I would be happy to be shaved right now.” Windhorn said, flopping heavily down near them.
“I be ‘appy when de days get cooler.” Marri said.
“Ah, but then it will snow and you’ll complain your cold.” Eroth said.
“Me love... I gots me fur. It be good against de cold. On top a dat, I got nice leat’er armor to block de cold. On top of dat, I have a t’ick cloak.” She said. “De cold don’t be bot’ering me. In all de time we be travelin’ tageda, ‘ave I eva complained about de cold?”
“No, my sweet.” Eroth said.
“I wish I had that luxury.” Windhorn said.
“We’re only a few days from town.” Eroth said. “We’ll get you some decent clothing there. You won’t need to wear that loin cloth.”
“Would be nice.” Windhorn said. “It barely covers.”
Eroth wrapped his arms around Marri lovingly. Marri sighed. “It be nice dat ya be cold right now. It be feelin’ good.”
“I’m glad I can help you feel better.” He said.
Windhorn sighed. “We’ll have to make a fire to cook.” He said. “So I’ll go get firewood.
“Rest ya a bit longer. It be ‘ot.” Marri said.
“No, I’m alight.” He said and walked off.
“The adjustment is hard on him.” Eroth said.
“Change never be easy.” Marri said. “’o knows ‘ow long de gnome ‘ad ‘im.”
“He’s still young though.” Eroth said. “He’ll be alright.”
Marri nodded. “Dwellin’ on de past ain’t gonna ‘elp nobody.” She said. “We need ta ‘elp ‘im get back into de present.”
Eroth smiled. “Then it can be just the two of us again.” He said.
“Don’ be rushin’ ‘im away.” Marri said. “’e’s our friend.”
“I know, I know. But I miss the privacy.” Eroth sighed. “Besides, he’s more likely to recover around his own kind.”
“We be ‘is kind. We be ‘orde.” Marri said in protest.
“You know what I mean. Tauren’s are a sensitive lot.” Eroth said. “And their culture is rather different than general Horde Culture. They would likely be able to help him better than we could.”
“Maybe.” Marri said.
