WARNING: If you don't like the pairing of Link x Linebeck, head back now. If you have no problems, then feel free to continue on...
Also, this is my first ever fanfic, so be gentle?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Linebeck grunted as he finished repairing his beloved ship. 'Damn that boy,' he thought. 'Staring off into the distance and leading me right into all those damn monsters and traps with his terrible navigation skills. You'd think he would use the cannon once in awhile, or my lovely jump feature, it's not like that was easy to add on.'
He leaned back from his work and sighed, wiping the sweat from his forhead with the back of his wrist. He had long since tossed his coat to the side and rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt past his elbows. He didn't know what Link was doing on this island, but it was hot as hell here and being stuck inside working on the ship's engine didn't make it any cooler.
'Sometimes I think he does this just to torture me. It's not like this is the first time we've been to this island. What could he possible still have to do here?'
Deciding that it didn't really matter what the little green twerp was up to, he left his coat and tools where they were and headed above deck, hoping to catch a nice breeze. However, it seems that the cabin's shadowed interior was protecting him from the brunt of the heat which hammered down on him as he stepped into the sun.
"Ugh, this heat...I can't stand it. That's it, I'm going for a swim."
He unlatched his vest and hurridly stripped it off, tossing it onto the railing which was soon joined by his shirt and boots. Clad only in his pants, he slid himself off of the S.S. Linebeck's side and into the thankfully cool water.
He dove under the surface, emmersing himself completely before he finally sighed in relief. The dark haried man let himself float on his back as he thought about how much his life had changed since meeting the little green monkey who called himself his navigator.
At first he couldn't stand the thought of bringing along a child to his high-sea adventures, let alone that annoying ball of dust. Well, he still can't stand having the little ball around. But his opinion of Link had changed, reluctant as he was to admit it. In reality, he was astonished by how much the young boy seemed to be able to accomplish. Finding those maps and then managing to fight past temples to get whatever was needed for him to continue his journey. It made Linebeck feel almost useless.
'But he wouldn't have gotten anywhere without my boat!' he tells himself defiantly. 'Still,' his conscience argues, 'you could do more for the boy.'
His face scrunches into a frown as his pride refuses to believe that he could owe the boy anything or that he needed to do any more to help.
His is pulled away from his delima by the sounds of that annoying little fairy. You could hear the thing chattering from miles away.
With a groan he pulls himself back onto the ship and moves to great the young warrior and see if it was indeed time to leave this scorcher of an island. His gaze was met with the sight of a weary link who, due to the unbearable heat, had let his tunic and undershirt hang down, his little brown belt being the only thing to keep them from falling completely off.
'At least I'm not the only one who can't deal with this place.' Linebeck thought smugly to himself. He somehow enjoyed seeing the boy forced to strip down his upperhalf. 'Even he has weakness,' he told himself, explaining the swelling he felt in his chest at the sight. Yes, that must surely be it. The fact that the unstopable hero wasn't immune to everything. Not the way that the sweat shone off of his chest as he panted and tried to brush the wet hair from his deep blue eyes.
Linebeck pasted a frown on his face and glowered at the blonde. "You want to set sail?"
Link simply nodded, staying silent as he usually did.
Linebeck 'humphed' and turned to lead the way onto the boat. However, he didn't get very far.
The water from his little dip had pooled onto the deck and as he tried to walk over it, he lost his footing and, arms windmilling, fell right on his ass. He heard Link's yelp as the boy also fell victim to the puddle and looked up just in time to see the youngster fall towards him.
He put up his hands to catch this boy but only managed to grasp his shoulders as his momentum carried them both to the ground. His head banged against the hard wood of the ships deck as his eyes scrunched close. He let go of Link's arms to prop himself up and rub the back of his head. But by doing so he ran right into Link's face. Specifically his lips.
Linebeck's eyes shot open and met wide blue ones. Some part of his mind noted that the lips beneath his were petal soft as the rest of him froze. Link slowly moved back and then hurridly got up from his position of straddling Linebeck's chest. A pink flush rose to his cheeks as he looked to the side.
Linebeck mentally shook himself and then nervously coughed before pulling himself up. He turned his back to Link and busied himself by gathering up his discareded clothing.
"Well then," he said, turning around and acting as if nothing had happened. "Where to, Navigator?"

Well, as I said, this is my first attempt at anything. What do you think? I only plan on this lasting one more chapter, and don't worry, all of the good stuff will come then! If I get amazing reviews of people wanting more, then I might consider making this longer.
Also, I appoligize for any mistakes, this was written at 7am with no sleep beforehand so... yeah, forgive me ^_^;;
And, as always, Reviews are loved, even if you hated the story and just want to yell at me.
