"How did you... my... daughters..."
The vampire Brauner toppled over and hit the floor where he soon turned to dust.
"Finally," said Jonathan.
"It's not quite over yet," said Charlotte.
"No problem," Jonathan replied. "I don't think the sisters'll put up much of a fight."
"Mmm."
It had been a few years since the business at Dracula's Castle. Jonathan and Charlotte had spent almost all that time chasing Brauner and the vampire twins across most of Europe. Eventually, their chase had led them to a small mansion near 's-Hertogenbosch, strangely untouched by either the former Nazi occupation or Allied bombing. Charlotte had expected Brauner to take his 'daughters' and run, as he had every time they'd managed to corner them. But for some reason the old vampire had decided to make a last stand. Perhaps he had decided that running until she and Jonathan had died of old age wasn't much of a life. Or unlife.
So now their quest was nearly over and Charlotte could return to a regular life. For some reason she wasn't much looking forward to it.
"So, do you know where Stella and Loretta are hiding?" Jonathan asked.
Charlotte closed her eyes and breathed in, allowing her magic to reach out and search. The search was made difficult because, in a sense, Loretta was everywhere. A few years ago, she'd attuned her magic to Loretta's so she would always manage to find her. But since Loretta had lived here... a few months at the very least... traces of her magic were everywhere. In some places they were more powerful, either because she'd spent a lot of time there or because she'd actually practised her magic there. In others, there was the only the echo that told her Loretta had been there for a bit.
Focus...
Charlotte winced. Something was wrong. No, not wrong. Different. She was so accustomed to the feel of Loretta's magic that the change was jarring, almost painful. It felt like... like iodine disinfecting a wound. She wondered what the cause could have been. How a person's magic could suddenly change like that.
"Charlotte?"
The young witch shook herself. "What?"
"Do you know where they are?"
"What? Oh," said Charlotte. "Yeah, I think I..."
Loretta had been cursed. Brauner had put a spell on both her and Stella to make them believe they were his daughters. With his death, the curse was probably broken. Could that have affected Loretta's magic? Or at least the feel of her magic?
Well, maybe not. But the place where that strange, altered sense was strongest might be a good place to start.
"Upstairs," she said. "Second door from the left."
Jonathan ran off and Charlotte quickly followed. There was an unpleasant taste in her mouth. She didn't really want to do this, to just march up there and slay the sisters. Yes, true, they were too far gone for her magic to cure them of their vampirism and even if Brauner's curse had been lifted that didn't mean they had suddenly stopped being soulless creatures of the damned.
Jonathan kicked the door open with rather more theatrics than Charlotte felt was appropriate. A bedroom lay beyond, illuminated by about a dozen candles. The vampire twins were both kneeling on the floor, hugging each other. They looked like they'd been crying. Stella turned to glare at them.
"So, this is it then?" Stella said.
"Yeah," said Jonathan. "We'll make it quick."
"'Make it quick' he says," Stella sneered. "You think we'll go down without a fight?"
"I don't think you can fight," Charlotte said.
Stella snarled at her, fangs glittering in the candlelight. "Fine then. Make it quick."
She turned back to her sister.
"I'm sorry Loretta."
"Don't be."
Loretta looked up. She didn't glare, but her gaze nailed Charlotte to the spot.
"Any last words?" Jonathan asked as he readied his whip.
"Just get it over with," Stella mumbled.
"Wait," said Charlotte.
"What?" said Jonathan.
"I want to make you an offer."
Now Stella looked at her as well. It was kind of unnerving to have both sisters look at her. But mostly it was unnerving because it wasn't really all that unnerving.
"Look, you didn't want to become vampires and then Brauner went and cursed you. You, I mean, you know, you haven't done anything wrong yet."
"Charlotte, what are you saying?"
"Jonathan, we owe it to them," Charlotte replied without taking her eyes off the vampires. "We had the opportunity to cure them and we didn't. We failed them. I think they deserve a chance."
"A chance?" Stella sneered. "You think if you let us go we'll become good little girls? We're vampires. And we'll feed."
"Well, I'm not going to just let you go," Charlotte said. "I'm not that stupid."
"Then what?" Stella demanded.
"She'll bind us," said Loretta.
"Yeah," said Charlotte.
"Explain," said Stella.
"Yeah, that goes for me too," Jonathan said.
"She'll sustain us," Loretta said. "She'll allow her blood to give us power."
"And in return you'll have to do as I say," Charlotte said.
"You must be joking," Stella said.
"She's right," said Jonathan. "You can't be serious."
"I am," said Charlotte. "I'll bare my neck to them."
"And in return you want...?" Loretta asked.
Charlotte shrugged. "No killing, no maiming, no hurting, no turning, no feeding off anyone who isn't willing. That kind of thing."
Stella grinned. "So we'll be your slaves and we won't be allowed any fun. You call this mercy?"
"I'm sorry," said Charlotte. "But as you pointed out, you're still vampires. It's the best I can do."
"I accept," said Loretta. "I'll bind myself to your blood."
"Loretta."
"Charlotte."
"Oh shut up, Jonathan," said Charlotte. "I have to do this. Otherwise I wouldn't be me."
"And you are?"
Charlotte grinned humourlessly. "A witch. Now then, Stella?"
Stella didn't seem to hear her. Her entire attention was focused on Loretta. Then she closed her eyes.
"Fine," she said. "Fine, enslave me again."
"It won't be that bad," said Charlotte.
"We'll see," said Stella.
"OK, Jonathan? I'll need two vials of holy water," Charlotte said.
"What?" Stella hissed.
"And can you walk?" Charlotte asked the vampire sisters. "Because we need to go to the cathedral for this."
-----
Saint John's Cathedral was old and impressive, looming in the night. But it wasn't quite spiky enough and it didn't have nearly enough gargoyles to be seen as a haunting place of evil. Charlotte stood in front of the massive doors together with Jonathan, Stella and Loretta. Jonathan's face was without expression, but the sisters were obviously nervous. This wasn't a very welcoming place for them.
"Well," said Charlotte, looking up at the statues of saints she didn't know, "let's see if this particular House of the Lord is always open."
Charlotte pushed one the doors. It swung open soundlessly.
"So far so good," she said. She looked behind her. "Are you coming?"
The vampire sisters still looked at the cathedral with trepidation. Then Stella focused on her.
"Well, if you insist," she said.
"Great," said Charlotte, holding the door open. "Not you Jonathan."
"What?" said Jonathan. "Look, if I'm not there, they might try something."
"Not in a church they won't," said Charlotte. "They'll be as weak as kittens."
Jonathan really didn't look happy about it. Charlotte could understand the sentiment. But that didn't stop her from closing the cathedral's door in his face.
-----
The interior of the cathedral was probably most impressive to those interested in restoration efforts of churches or organs. Charlotte only cared that it was empty, save for herself and the sisters. She found a quiet corner in the arcade, hopefully out of sight of anyone who happened to wander into the main part of the cathedral. As she knelt down, Charlotte realised the floor was really too hard to be comfortable. If she hadn't been wearing her stockings, it probably would've been too cold as well. It didn't really matter anyway. Most likely once everything got under way she wouldn't even notice the floor.
Trying as best she could to ignore the curious stares of both Stella and Loretta, she took a mug out of her travelling bag and placed it on the floor. Then she emptied both vials of holy water in it. After that, she took a bit of blue chalk out of her bag and started drawings circles and images around the mug.
"Do you always carry chalk around with you?" Stella asked.
Charlotte didn't look up. "Sure. A witch never knows when she needs to draw a mystical circle."
"It doesn't look very mystical," Loretta said.
"Well, I'm not really about to perform ordinary magic, am I?" said Charlotte. "Now please be quiet."
"Why?" said Stella. "Will something go terribly wrong if you make even a single mistake?"
"No, I just don't want to risk anyone hearing us before we're done."
Charlotte finished drawing the circle. She had to admit, it did look a bit primitive. No self-respecting master of the arcane would ever draw a mystical circle with so few symbols around it. Then again, no self-respecting master of the arcane would probably ever do what she was about to do.
"OK, kneel down around the circle," Charlotte said.
The sisters surprised Charlotte by kneeling down without uttering a single word.
"Right," she said.
Charlotte reached into her bag and took out a knife. It was a totally ordinary breadknife, but it was very sharp and that was the important thing. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying not to think about the knife too much.
After a few moments to collect her thoughts, Charlotte began chanting. It was in no language she could recognise and she doubted it was a language at all. As far as she knew, they were just sounds warping reality around themselves. They were old and basic and had almost nothing to do with magic. Instead, they were about blood and the power it held.
She held one hand above the mug, then very carefully cut her palm until a few drops fell. The blood spread through the holy water like ink, turning everything into a dark red.
Charlotte opened her eyes and put the knife away. Then she took the mug and offered it to the vampires.
"Drink," she said.
"Are you mad?" said Stella. "That's holy water."
"It's been tainted by the blood of a witch," said Charlotte. "It won't hurt you."
Loretta took the mug and put it on her lips.
"Don't," said Stella. "It's a trick."
The vampire ignored her sister and drank. As soon as the first few drops passed her lips, Charlotte felt a rush of... of something course through her body. The more Loretta drank, the more she felt her shuddering body filling up with... with... with Loretta.
"Enough," Charlotte breathed.
Loretta put the mug down and the overpowering sensations faded away, but didn't vanish completely. They never would. She was in Loretta's blood now and Loretta was in her blood. They could never be truly parted again.
"What happened?" Stella asked.
"I allowed her into my blood and became hers," said Loretta.
"And by freely giving it to her, she entered mine as well," said Charlotte.
"I don't understand," said Stella.
"It's magic," said Charlotte.
"It's blood," said Loretta.
Loretta took the now half empty mug and offered it to Charlotte. As Charlotte reached out to take it, her fingers briefly touched Loretta's. A sudden burst of heat filled her body at the contact, leaving her wanting for more. Loretta's eyes widened.
"Interesting," the vampire said.
"Yes," said Charlotte. She coughed, trying to ignore the tingling of her body. "Stella. Will you drink as well?"
For a moment, Charlotte thought Stella might refuse. Then she took the mug and drank. This time, Charlotte knew what to expect, but it was still strange. She felt Stella filling her body and entering her bloodstream. Yet even though she already had herself and Loretta within her, Stella didn't displace or push either of them away. Stella simply added to what was already there. And even though she now had two unholy abominations of the night within her, Charlotte felt curiously warm and pleasant.
Stella drank the last drop and placed the mug on the floor. She opened her eyes and looked at Charlotte. The witch felt her breath hitch for the barest of moments. There was something very... intense... about the vampire's gaze.
"Right," said Charlotte. "Now, to seal the deal."
She undid her short cape and let it fall to the ground, exposing her neck.
Stella licked her lips. "Tempting," she said. "But in a way, I already have your blood."
"It's part of the deal," said Charlotte.
"I know," said Stella. "But I'm not thirsty right now. Loretta, are you thirsty?"
"Not right now, sister."
Stella leaned forward until she fell onto all-fours. She slowly crawled towards Charlotte, erasing the chalk circle. Charlotte felt herself become hotter as Stella came nearer and nearer. When Loretta too went onto all-fours and crawled towards her, Charlotte's felt her arousal grow until it crushed all thoughts of blood.
"You know what we want," Stella whispered when she and her sister were but a hair's breadth away from her. "We know what you want. Will you give it us? Do you want us to have it?"
Part of Charlotte realised that, in theory, there were multiple possible answers to that question. But in practise, she knew there could only be one answer.
"Yes."
Charlotte leaned forward at the same time the sisters did and their lips met. It was an awkward, messy kiss they shared between the three of them, but it didn't feel awkward or messy. It felt exactly as it should. The three of them, together.
Loretta's lips parted ways first, and Charlotte and Stella took the opportunity to deepen their own kiss, pouring more of their passion and lust into it. Charlotte felt Loretta starting to undress her and felt the vampire's cold lips on her heated skin. She moaned softly into Stella's mouth when she felt Loretta's hand caressing her breasts. She tore her lips away from Stella's, wanting to see the vampire's pale hands stroking and fondling her breasts.
Stella looked at her for a moment, then let an impish grin spread across her face. She leaned into Loretta and theatrically nuzzled her neck.
"Mistress Charlotte doesn't want to kiss me any more," she murmured. "But you're not so insensitive to my needs, are you, my sister?"
Charlotte wanted to whine with disappointment when Loretta took her hands away from her breasts, but that disappointment was crushed the moment Stella's lips touched Loretta's. The sight was obscene and forbidden and it fed Charlotte's arousal. The kiss of the vampire twins was passionate and lust-filled and clearly a show for Charlotte's amusement.
The vampire sisters began undressing each other. Charlotte was secretly glad to see that they were clumsy and obviously not used to undressing each other. In fact, she was kind of glad to see their bodies become exposed so slowly. Especially Loretta. Her clothes left everything to the imagination, so the slow reveal was more tantalising.
But before too long, the sisters were naked. Kneeling before each other, the embraced one another, their breasts rubbing together, their tongues playing a fiery game. One of Stella's hands drifted down Loretta's back, then turned towards her stomach and dipped between her legs. Loretta began moaning as her sister started toying with her pussy.
"See?" Stella grinned. "That's what you get when you ignore me."
Charlotte could only nod dumbly, her eyes riveted to Loretta's naked body, drinking in her every little movement as she writhed with the pleasure her sister gave her.
"Aw, but you don't seem to mind," said Stella. "In that case, Loretta?"
"Stella?" Loretta breathed.
"Let's show our affection for our new Mistress, shall we?"
"Yes."
Charlotte tried to swallow when both sisters suddenly turned their attention onto her, but found her throat far too dry. Stella and Loretta moved towards her like predators, baring their fangs. They quickly stripped her of her clothing, but Charlotte noticed in some strange, light-headed way that they were very careful with her clothes all the same. As though she still needed them.
The vampires guided Charlotte down onto her back. The floor was cold and hard, and Charlotte didn't care. The undead bodies of the sisters weren't very warm, but they were more than enough to keep her hot.
The vampire twins lowered themselves onto her body. Charlotte moaned when Loretta's tongue licked the curve of her left breast, while Stella began suckling on her right. She'd never considered her breasts to be particularly sensitive, but the sister's attentions forced her to revise that assumption. The pleasure that spread through her body was near overwhelming and she thought she could climax if only the sisters kept lavishing her breasts with licks and kisses.
Charlotte felt one of the mouths attending her breasts (Loretta's perhaps?) move away and kiss her way down her stomach. She didn't mind at all, as long as the vampire's eventual destination was between her legs. The other pair of lips (Stella? Yes, definitely Stella) moved away from her breasts as well, kissing upwards, towards her neck. Perhaps the vampire had decided that now was the time to drink from her, now that she was so filled with pleasure she probably hard notice the pain caused by a set of fangs sinking into her neck.
But instead Stella stradled her face and Charlotte looked up at her pussy, glistening with a desire that had nothing to do with blood. All the witch needed to do to taste her was to lean up ever so slightly and kiss her. She was about to do so when Loretta's lips brushed against her clit.
Charlotte almost screamed when the pleasure shuddered through her. She felt Loretta kissing her down her slit and every touch made the fire within her burn hotter and brighter. Even through the lust clouding her mind Charlotte was keenly aware of Loretta kissing her, lapping at her fluids, teasing her clit. She acted slowly and leisurely, filling the witch with maddening pleasure.
Then Loretta kissed Charlotte deeply, her tongue entering her body.
This time Charlotte would have screamed, if it hadn't been for Stella lowering herself. As it was, Charlotte's scream died on the lips of Stella's pussy. Charlotte tried to please Stella the way Loretta pleased her, but with Loretta's tongue exploring her inner walls she found herself completely unable to give Stella the attention she felt she deserved. Still, she tried the best she could, frantically lapping at Stella's fluids. Charlotte heard Stella moan lustfully and saw the vampire's hands fondling her own breasts. For a creature that was basically dead, Stella looked very much alive as she danced on Charlotte's tongue.
Charlotte groaned deeply. She might have been able to ignore her own pleasure long enough to give some to Stella, but Loretta's efforts could no longer be denied. Loretta's tongue sent ever larger waves of pleasure through her until she overflowed. Charlotte came, her body bucking with violent release, her orgasmic scream smothered by Stella's slit. The pleasure coursed through her again and again, but for how long she couldn't tell. Time had lost all meaning for her.
Eventually, Charlotte's climax passed and she found herself lying between the vampire sisters; Stella on her right, Loretta on her left. She gave a satisfied smile and kissed Stella, then Loretta. Then kissed Loretta again, more deeply this time. There was something perversely enjoyable about tasting herself on those lips.
"So glad to see you're happy," Stella purred.
"Really?" Charlotte said, as her lips parted with Loretta's.
Stella's finger idly began tracing circles on her still naked body. "Strangely yes. Though I must admit I'm a bit disappointed you didn't manage to bring me to a climax."
"I'll try better next time," Charlotte said.
"That's all I ask."
"And now," Charlotte sighed, "it's really time for you to feed on me."
"I don't want to," said Loretta. "I dislike the idea of hurting you."
"So do I," said Stella. "That's some powerful magic you cast."
"Maybe, but the bargain demands that I offer to feed you."
"Then, if you insist," said Stella.
Stella and Loretta's lips curled back, revealing their fangs. Charlotte grunted with pain as the sisters leaned in and pierced her skin. She felt her blood begin flowing from her body and into the vampire's mouths. She expected to feel weaker with every drop that passed the sister's lips, but her blood gave Stella and Loretta power and that, in turn, gave her power. Still, they could not drink from her forever. The magic might have made Charlotte immune to the sister's vampiric poison, bloodloss would still kill her.
Surprisingly, though, the sisters dropped drinking from her before she even started feeling woozy.
"There," Loretta said, as she licked the bite marks she had inflicted on Charlotte. "We've fed."
"You could have taken more if you'd wanted to," said Charlotte.
"Yes, but for what reason?" said Stella. "We weren't very hungry to begin with in any case. Now come, we should probably get dressed."
Charlotte reluctantly got up from between the sister's naked bodies and started gathering up her clothes as Stella and Loretta began to do the same. She looked up when she heard Stella snicker.
"What's funny?" she asked.
"Well, let me think," said Stella. "We just desecrated holy water, drank blood from a witch and had sex in a church. And there I thought being your slave wasn't going to be any fun."
"It's not that funny," said Charlotte.
"It is to me," said Stella.
-----
Charlotte noticed Jonathan leaning against the cathedral's wall as she stepped out into the night air. He straightened up hurriedly. Charlotte found herself staring at him. He'd been her best friend since forever, yet now he looked so distant. He wasn't distant, of course. It was simply that he seemed distant because someone else, two someone elses, had become closer. Much, much closer.
"Well, did it work?" he asked.
"Let's see," said Stella.
Before Charlotte could do anything, the vampire lunged at Jonathan. Then she recoiled as though she hit an invisible wall and fell onto the ground. Loretta rushed over to her to help her up again.
Jonathan blinked. "Well, you can't harm me," he said. "But she's still evil," he added, turning to Charlotte.
"They're harmless, I promise," said Charlotte.
"That's right," said Stella. "We won't do anything nasty ever again. Unless Mistress Charlotte gives us permission to."
"'Mistress'?" Jonathan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Part of the spell," said Charlotte. "They can't help it."
"Right," said Jonathan. "So now what?"
"I don't know," said Charlotte. "Stella, that mansion where we found you. Do you own that?"
"Yes," said Loretta. "Brauner bought it and we just inherited it."
"Then I think I'll go live there with them," Charlotte told Jonathan.
"You're going to live with a couple of vampires?" Jonathan asked.
"I don't have a choice. I'm sorry."
"Don't be. It was your decision," said Jonathan.
"You can come live with us if you like," said Charlotte.
"No thanks," said Jonathan.
"Then I guess this is goodbye," said Charlotte.
"Yeah, guess so," said Jonathan.
"You can always come and visit, if you like."
"Yeah."
"Let me know where you end up."
"I'll do that," said Jonathan. "Well... goodbye."
"Bye."
Jonathan gave Charlotte one last look, then turned around and walked away.
"Poor boy," said Stella. "Couldn't deal with the fact that you've become a creature of the night."
"We're both creatures of the night," said Charlotte. "Hunting vampires will do that to a person. But at least he's got a chance to return to the daylight now."
"Do you think he'll take it?" Loretta asked.
"I don't know," Charlotte sighed. "Come on, let's go."
And with that, Charlotte, Stella and Loretta headed away from the cathedral and into the night.
