* * * * *

Lamia Loveless did not have much experience with free will, but it had begun to dawn on her that 'free will' mostly meant 'doing things without knowing why'. Currently, her free will saw her walking through one of the Hiryu Custom's corridors on the way towards the training simulators. She did not know why. No, that was false. She did know why. She just did not know why why.

She was on her way to the training simulators because she knew that there she would find Ibis Douglas. Lamia enjoyed Ibis's company, but she did not know why. She had nothing in common with the young woman, after all. Ibis rarely showed signs of reason, relying far too much on her emotions. And while Lamia would not deny that emotions could be helpful or simply good to have, they could not really be relied upon. Emotion told Ibis that Sleigh, a woman who openly admitted to her hatred of her, who had betrayed her, had fought her and had joined the enemy, was basically a good person. Emotion told Ibis that even though she was not the greatest pilot that ever existed, that she had pretty much reached the limits of her abilities, she could still improve if only she practised hard enough.

Ibis made no sense to Lamia.

And yet here she was, walking towards Ibis would be, looking forward to the encounter. But Lamia simply couldn't figure out how this could be so.

Free will, most likely.

The doors to the training room hissed open and shut as Lamia entered. A row of dull white simulator pods lined the walls, but only one of them was active at the moment. For no particular reason, Lamia walked over to the active pod's control console too which program it was running. She was not surprised to see it was a Project TD-based worst-case scenario simulation. Ibis always ran these kinds of simulations and the result was always the same. Her ship would be destroyed and she would die. And yet she tried time and time again to change the inevitable outcome. Why could she not simply accept her limitations and instead opt to perfect that which she could do?

The control panel blinked off and the simulator pod opened ponderously. Lamia moved next to the pod and extended her hand. Ibis looked up for moment, then gave her a tired smile and took her hand.

"How are you always here on time?" Ibis asked as she stepped out of the pod.

"I know your schedule," said Lamia.

"And I'm important enough to fit your own schedule around mine?" Ibis asked.

Lamia paused. No, Ibis was not. She could not. No single person could dominate another person enough to bend their entire life around him or her. And yet Ibis was, because she did.

Curious.

"Lamia?"

Lamia shook herself. "Sorry. I was thinking."

"You do that a lot."

"There is a lot to think about."

Lamia realised that Ibis was still holding her hand. There was no reason for her to. After all, she had stepped out of the simulator pod and Lamia had only offered hand to help Ibis with that.

Lamia decided not to point this out to Ibis. She did not want her to let go of her hand. Not right at this very moment, in any case.

"Shall we go to the mess?" Lamia asked.

"No, I'm pretty beat," said Ibis. "I think I'll be going back to my quarters."

"I see."

In spite of her words, Ibis didn't let go of Lamia's hand. She didn't even move.

"You know, uh... you could come with me if you like," Ibis said.

A sudden surge of heat flashed through Lamia's body for no obvious reason. She didn't really know what the appropriate response should be. She needed to think about it for at least a moment.

Yet some part of her that she had no control over and couldn't even detect cut in quickly.

"I would like that."

Ibis smiled and began to walk. She was still holding Lamia's hand, gently forcing the woman to walk with her. Lamia found she didn't mind. What she should mind was her sudden, thoughtless reply. But she was willing to let this, too, slide. After all, it were thoughtless replies that had led her, ultimately, here, to Ibis. Where it was kind of nice to be. Even though there was no good reason for this pleasantness. None that she could see, anyway.

As they walked, Lamia noticed that the Hiryu Custom's ordinary metal corridors looked subtly different. She couldn't really put her finger on it, but it seemed they were livelier somehow even though they were still lifeless.

Lamia knew the corridors had not actually changed, therefore her perception of them had changed. She couldn't help but wonder what the cause of this change was.

The two women quickly reached Ibis's quarters. They weren't much, but they were sufficient. The quarters were not important to Lamia anyway. Ibis was important. The young woman had let go of her hand (which had felt strangely cold, even though their had been no drop temperature) and had wandered further into the room. Lamia found herself focusing on Ibis to the exclusion of everything else. This was not Ibis in the training room, this was no Ibis in some corridor, this was Ibis in her quarters. That should not have made a difference. But it did. And Lamia couldn't even tell what the difference was.

After circling the room for no obvious reason, Ibis walked back to Lamia until she stood right in front her. Lamia felt her heart rate increase.

"I uhm..."

Ibis looked up at her, then away, then up at her again, then away once more.

"I don't know why you like to hang out with me so much, but... well, I appreciate it and..."

Ibis looked into her eyes. There was something in there Lamia couldn't identify, though it looked strangely familiar.

Ibis reached up and put her hand on Lamia's cheek, igniting a fire that began spreading slowly through her body. Her face came closer and closer, hesitantly, but unstoppably. Lamia didn't really know what was going on, though she felt like she knew very well what was going on. Some part of her knew she could stop Ibis inching closer, but there was no reason to.

And so, slowly, Ibis kissed her.

And, without thinking, Lamia reacted.

She kissed her back.

It felt... good. Warm. Pleasant. Nice. Her body appeared to be acting on its own, but right now Lamia was happy to let it. She felt Ibis's arms embrace her, so she embraced her in return. The added closeness made their kiss better.

Ibis pulled back slowly. Lamia didn't want her to, but if that was what Ibis wanted...

"I thought you'd run away," Ibis whispered, smiling in a way that didn't quite hide the fact she was serious.

"Why would I?" Lamia asked.

"No reason, I guess," said Ibis. "I'm glad you didn't."

"I'm glad you kissed me," Lamia said.

"Well, I was feeling lucky today, so I figured, you know, I could give it a try."

"I do not think luck had anything to do with it," Lamia said.

"Maybe not," said Ibis. "There has to be reason why you hang out with me."

"Yes," Lamia said. "Though I do not really know it."

"Yeah, that's how it works," said Ibis.

"Is it?"

"Kind of."

Ibis leaned in and kissed her again. This kiss was different. It started slowly, gently, yet it became more... passionate. Lamia couldn't tell if it was Ibis's passion that increased or her own. She wasn't sure there was a difference. Ibis kissed her and she wanted Ibis to kiss her so she kissed her.

Something to that extent.

It didn't matter.

Ibis kissed her.

Lamia felt herself pushed back against the door by Ibis, even though the redhead was smaller and physically weaker than she was. She hardly noticed.

"I want you," she heard Ibis whisper.

Lamia didn't know what she meant, but she knew there could only be a single answer.

"Have me."

Ibis stepped back a bit, but there was no sudden coldness. If anything the look in Ibis's eyes only managed to make her feel hotter. Ibis reached and let a single finger rest on the red collar around her neck. It looked like something went through Ibis's mind right then, though Lamia didn't care to guess what it could have been.

Seemingly putting the collar out of her mind, Ibis apparently turned her attention to the rest of Lamia's clothes. She clearly disapproved. That is, she clearly disapproved of the fact that she was wearing them. Ibis began undressing her with startling speed and efficiency. It was almost as though she had practised this before, though she obviously couldn't have. Lamia absolutely didn't care either way, but only cared about the urgent kisses Ibis lavished onto every inch of exposed skin, her lips leaving rings of fire on her body.

Lamia breathing more and more heavily as Ibis exposed more of her skin, moaning as she kissed more sensitive parts of her body. The moaning seemed to come automatically. Probably a way to allow some of the heat to escape from her body. But she didn't want the heat to escape. The fire Ibis stoked higher and higher with every kiss felt so good Lamia wanted to hold on for it for as long as possible. Forever, if she could.

The last of Lamia's garments landed somewhere in the distance of the room and Lamia stood before Ibis, naked and unashamed. Technically, she realised she was not naked because she still wore her collar and her knee-high boots, but she felt as though she was naked, as though her entire nude body was on display for Ibis to do with what she wanted. It felt good.

A look of confusion crossed Lamia's face when Ibis knelt down. Then it vanished almost instantly when Ibis reached up and kissed her between her legs.

Lamia threw her head back and moaned. The fire she had felt before was nothing to the blazing inferno Ibis had unleashed inside of her. Lamia knew that her 'erogenous zones' were being 'stimulated', but before now she'd never known what that really meant. If only she'd known earlier; she would have shared this with Ibis so many times.

But as Ibis's lips kissed her slit and her tongue licked up her fluids, Lamia couldn't find it in herself to feel regret. The only thing she really felt was a searing pleasure dancing on her every nerve.

Lamia screamed. Her hands started clawing at the door behind her even though there was nothing to grip and her hips thrust obscenely forward. That, at least, made sense. It gave Ibis even easier access to her. Through the cloud of lust, the small analytical stronghold of Lamia's mind recognised that her sudden intense reaction was directly caused by Ibis's lips closing very carefully around her clitoris. It was completely useless information, but she told herself anyway. Even as she screamed with pleasure and her body writhed on the lips of a woman, she felt the need to explain. She must be mad.

Madness did not seem very far away in any case. As Ibis lightly sucked her clit and sometimes flicked her with her tongue, she felt her pleasure increase to a point where her body couldn't hope to contain it. She moaned and screamed, she beat the door, she ground herself in Ibis's face, but none of it helped to let some of the fire escape so it would not consume her body. She needed to let go, she needed Ibis to stop, but she wanted none of it. Even if it drove her mad, even if it burned her to a cinder, Lamia wanted nothing more than to have Ibis continue to feed the fire burning inside of her.

Then she froze. For one long moment, her body was still and her mind a blank. She gasped and her gasps turned to moans as her body began shuddering. A wave of pleasure flooded through her, more intense than anything before, yet dousing her fire at the same time. She rode the pleasure as long as she could as it passed through her.

Then it was gone and she calmed. Lamia blinked as she regained her senses and she looked down at Ibis still kneeling between her legs. She felt a rush of affection and desire go through and she needed no explanation for them.

She reached down, pulled Ibis to her feet and kissed her. Her own juices still stained Ibis's lips, but she didn't care. All she cared about was letting Ibis know how much she felt for her right now, even if she couldn't put it into words.

A plan formed in Lamia's mind. It wasn't much of a plan, but it was one she knew she had to follow.

Ibis shrieked with surprise when Lamia suddenly gathered her up in her arms. Lamia kissed her quickly, but genuinely, in case Ibis needed some reassuring. And even if she did it, she could still kiss her.

Carrying Ibis in her arms, Lamia walked towards the bed and carefully put the young woman down on top of the sheets. Ibis's eyes widened and seemed to darken somehow, her breath changing.

"You don't have..."

"I do," Lamia interrupted. "Unless..."

"No."

Lamia leaned down and started undoing Ibis's clothes. She had planned on simply taking them off as a necessary chore to be done beforehand, but found it wasn't as simple as did. Ibis was incredibly attractive right now and Lamia had struggle with herself every time she exposed more of the woman's skin. She merely wanted to take Ibis's clothes off, but she kept interrupting herself to kiss random parts of Ibis's body. Fortunately, Ibis's soft gasps and sighs told Lamia that the young woman didn't really mind her diversion.

Eventually Lamia managed to completely undress Ibis. Her body was beautiful. She was beautiful. How could she never have noticed that before?

Yet, there was a strange note of dissonance. Ibis, sitting up on the bed, was completely nude, her entire body uncovered. By contrast, Lamia still wore her boots and collar. Yet for some reason Lamia could not help but feel that she was more naked than Ibis was. It was a strange little detail. Perhaps worth exploring later on. For now, however, Ibis was far more important.

Lamia reached out slowly and spread Ibis's unresisting legs. Her pussy glistened with arousal, her fluids trickling down to stain the sheets. Lamia realised Ibis must have felt this aroused even as she pleased her, yet she had remained focused on her. And afterwards, Ibis had not demanded that she pleasure her in return.

Was she really that important to her?

Yes, Lamia realised, she was.

Lamia abandoned that line of thought before it could go much further and moved onto the bed. She tried to position herself properly, finding it to be a lot more difficult than she thought it would have been. Ibis merely smiled, apparently amused instead of frustrated at her awkwardness. But before too long, Lamia had managed entwine their legs to her satisfaction. It did mean that one of her boots was now on Ibis's bedsheets, but it didn't look like Ibis minded.

Lamia moved her body closer to Ibis. She saw her lick her lips and breathe in deeply, the amusement draining from her face as she prepared for the inevitable moment when they came together.

Lamia felt her wetness almost touching Ibis's, their pussies a hair's breadth from each other. Then she closed that gap.

Both their moans filled the room as Lamia rubbed against Ibis. Lamia shuddered as she once again felt pleasure shiver through her body. She felt tempted to just close her eyes and enjoy the sensations, but she forced herself to keep them open and focused on Ibis's face. Ibis had closed her eyes, her face a mask of pleasure. Lamia slowly and deliberately rubbed herself against her, trying to divine how she could give Ibis the most pleasure. It didn't seem to matter very much, as Ibis's body ground against her, seemingly reacting on lust-filled instinct.

Ibis shrieked and Lamia bit her bottom lip when their clits touched. Lamia was still sensitive from before and the contact between them sent almost painful shocks of pleasure jolting through her. But she kept writhing against Ibis because the shocks going through her body were obviously nothing but pleasure.

Lamia slowly found herself becoming strangely detached from her own body. She could still feel it, rubbing against Ibis, filling with pleasure, but she didn't really notice it any more. She noticed Ibis instead. She noticed her body, her pleasure. She noticed everything from the way her lips moved as she moaned to her hands clutching the sheets or the droplets of sweat beading her breasts. The feeling, the smell, the sound of Ibis flooded over her and overwhelmed her even though she wasn't sure Ibis in her lust was even aware of her.

Ibis's pleasure became her own and as her body shocked and shuddered against her, Lamia imagined that her own body shocked and shuddered in the same way. Ibis's moans turned to hisses, then to one long groan as her naked body writhed with orgasm. Lamia imagined she could see Ibis's climax spread through her body and when that intense pleasure reached the woman's face, she came as well, briefly and not as intensely as before, but somehow infinitely more satisfying.

Lamia watched with fascination as Ibis's orgasm left the redhead panting for a while before calm returned to her. Ibis opened her eyes and the wave of affection Lamia saw coming from them stunned her for a moment. Ibis moved, her legs disentangling themselves from Lamia's, put her hand on Lamia's cheek and kissed her, pushing her down onto her back as she did so.

As Ibis kissed her, Lamia felt her body beginning to prepare again. She'd already climaxed twice, yet it seemed that hadn't been enough. Perhaps, with Ibis, she could never have enough.

Ibis's lips parted from hers and the young woman rested her head on her chest. Slowly, lazily, she took one of Lamia's hands and entwined their fingers.

"That was..." she breathed.

"Yes," said Lamia.

Ibis breathed out and closed her eyes. She was falling asleep, Lamia realised. She should wake her. They should change the sheets, possibly take a shower. It wasn't time for sleeping just yet.

But Lamia said nothing. She just watched as Ibis drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

That was better, Lamia decided.
