CHAPTER 1. Introduction

Kaylie Shadowblade (original i know ><) was one of the most well known and reknowned rogues of her time. She possesed a skill which quickly got her hired by one of the more notable guilds. She was quite deadly with her twin daggers, prefering their light and graceful speed to the larger more cumbersome swords or maces. Many who dueled or sparred with her found her energy limitless and came out in a much worse condition they they had originally entered with.

She had always been a loner, which showed in her mood when she oftentimes took to a secluded corner of a bar to have her beer. She regularly dwelt on less than pleasant memories and forced herself to train and become the best she could be physically. She had always been terrified of her own emotions and mental awareness which made her uncomfortably weak in her own eyes. She had cold brown eyes, and long lusterous brown hair that hung down her back, hugging her curvacious form.

Kaylie had no one she called friend until a night elf warrior named Shandra Starblade (i SUCK at names) came up to her one night and plopped her round purple ass onto the stool next to her in the bar. She had often admired the way Shandra maintained her anger and forced it through her arm into the waiting enemy and did her job to keep the attention of the beast on her while others did the dirty work. She had suffered a particularly hard battle on one of her guilds latest excursions and was upset that no one seemed to be doing their job. Shandra was quite marvelous in appearance, with her white shining hair in a braid that she often put over her shoulder, and her long slender legs covered up with her plate mail she really put on the image of a fierce yet graceful fighter. She was not wearing her armor at this moment, and that made Kaylie, who always wore her rough uncomfortable leather armor feel awkward.

"I have taken notice of you out on the dueling field", the night elf said suddenly. She was of course referring to the small rise outside of Ironforge where anyone could choose to be a combatant or spectator and match their prowess in battle against one another.
Kaylie was currently undefeated.

"Thanks, I guess" was all that Kaylie could say, prefering to be alone as always, she wasnt very good with words.

"You're not so bad yourself, you really focus your rage and the outcome is powerful indeed"

"Thanks."

They sat there quietly for a few more tenative minutes, shifting about without much to say, both of them trying to think of some sort of words to make things easier. When suddenly a man from the back of the bar sidled up and dropped his cheap stinking body in space between them. He made no formal introduction besides a passing burp or unpleasant noise, but he did manage to make some unobvious and inpolite stares towards Kaylies ample chest. Kaylie more embarassed then angry tried to ignore the man but it was obvious that she was seething with outrage underneath, but Shandra on the other hand was obvious fed up with the fool quickly, she turned the man about, who tried to focus his swirling vision on the night elf but Shandra didn't give him a chance, knocking him square between the eyes with her balled up fist. The man froze and simply fell backwards still on his stool with a loud bang that made everyone else in the bar turn and look at the pair for a few strenous moments. Kaylie took her eyes off of the fallen drunk and looked up at Shandra, who was only smiling back at her. It is kind of funny how few words it takes for a friendship to form and bonding to begin between people.

From then on, Kaylie and Shandra were almost inseperable even on the battlefield. Many of the more notables of the land were quite cautious when in the presence of the deadly Kaylie and formidable Shandra Starblade.

Many months go by uneventfully and the two friends find themselves quite bored with their current employment of slaying beasts on a weekly basis, they had slain dragons and giants, ancient Gods and mighty fire lords, they truly craved some sort of adventure that was yet to be seen.

Sitting in their usual positions at their favorite pub, Shandra and Kaylie sat, Shandra was particularly worried about her insecure and occasionally depressed friend. She truly cared about Kaylie, and it seemed that this lack of excitement really forced Kaylie to focus on her darker side, becoming more aggressive and stubborn.

Just as long before when the two had first made proper acquaintance, a male sidled up and set himself at their table in the back corner. Before he could make any introduction Kaylie quickly took her hand off her mug and tried to launch an agonizing shot to the man's kidneys, meaning to incapacitate him. But what Kaylie didnt expect was for the man to twist his body around causing Kaylies punch to miss, and grab her forearm roughly.

"Hey miss! what are you trying to do to me? I am only here to talk."

Kaylie then took notice of the weaponry the man displayed, a long slender sword obviously enchanted and intricatly runed. A blade that truly caught her eye even though swords were not her specialty, she could appreciate the power the weapon held.

"A sword?" she asked

"yes a sword!" he replied and allowed her a better view of his blade. "and here is her brother" the unnamed man said and revealed a hidden sword from a scabbard along his back.

Shandra, across the table, was truly mezmerized by it all, she had never seen someone so blatantly outspeed her ally. It was something quite unnerving to her.

The man stood up suddenly and said "where are my manners? My name is Rorick, I am .... not from around here." "But I have heard great tales of you my lovely ladies." he said with a grin. For only the deaf have not heard whisper of the immovable Shandra and vicious Kaylie the rogue. He added the final 'the rogue' with a grin and quite uncermoniously eyed Kaylie from head to toes. Shandra, standing now, clenched her fist, honestly afraid of what might become if it came to fighting.
